I highly recommend Ralph's to solve your transmission service needs. My van drives better than ever. Ralph's Transmission gave me the best possible attention and service money can buy. My transmission burned up driving up a mountain. Three other mechanics wouldn't touch my transmission. I believe that transmission building and repair is the brain surgery of the automotive world. This might sound hard to believe but I had my van towed 100 miles just so Ralph's could handle the repair. Ralph's backs their transmission with a 3-year warranty, which made me feel a lot better. I asked them a lot of questions. A LOT! This was .a huge investment for me, and I only want to do it ONCE. Since I depend on my vehicle for my business, I needed a compete and lasting solution. If I was to spend the money to repair it, I needed it done right and I needed a SUPER-DUTY transmission. Mario and the entire staff explained in detail what I needed to properly repair my transmission. They were even able to diagnose the cause of the failure. They completely rebuilt my transmission instead of slapping Band-Aid on the problem. They communicated with me about the type of parts going into my transmission and they guided me into making decisions about using heavy-duty parts. I'll update my post with anything new. Called for trans repair for my 08 Ram, had their tow service pick up my truck on Friday and started diag on Monday. Tear down Tuesday and repairs finished on Thursday . Very professional but expensive. Trans quote jumped but also found rear main seeping and resealed transfer case. Great service over all but only issue was left my leather seats dirty and didn't show pictures about my rear main or transfer case. But overall best experience I've had from a transmission shop will reccomended read more

Seem likes a legit shop. They were very nice however idk how anyone are paying these prices. My car is worth $6500. They wanted to charge me $3000.00 just to drop the transmission. Then they said it could be up to an additional $5000.00 in repairs. So there range was $4000-$8000. I took it to a different shop here in Modesto they dropped, fixed and reinstalled my transmission for $2200. Idk if it's an honesty issue but when I could buy the the same car without transmission issues and save $2000, doesn't seem likely the cost to fix should be anywhere near that. I've waited a long time to write this review and I'm very torn. My 2011 Camry needed a new transmission and we chose Ralph's they were able to get the car in the next day and had the rebuild done in one day. But then we went through 3 long years of problems. Pros - - Office staff is very polite. Everyone is friendly. - They never ever gave us grief over using the warranty. - They paid for the tow each time. - The office and shop are clean. - They remember you and make it feel personalized. Cons - - In 3 years our rebuild was rebuilt 4 times. We broke down on the side of the road 5 times. Unfortunately the 5th time was 2 days after our warranty expired. - Each rebuild took longer. The last time they kept it for over a week. - They will promise your car to be done by a certain date and then never call when that changes. - The tow company they use is awful. They will show up hours after the expected arrival time and not tell you. - The office staff will never return your call with a status update. read more

I live by Sea World in San Diego. I drove over 450 miles to get my truck RALPH'S Transmission. The girls up front are friendly and professional. AFTER a BAD experience with a transmission shop in San Diego, I decided I would drive my 97 F20 4x4 to Modesto with its missing 2nd gear. I-5/99 all the way and really no trouble to get a better transmission REBUILD and a great warranty. I have told my friends in San Diego if they need a transmission Ralph's is the place to go. The truck was done in 4 days. I couldn't return for almost another week to get my truck. That was no problem for them. Thank you Mario for having a great business in Modesto. Maybe you could open a second shop in San Diego? Great weather year-round, with the ocean/beaches nearby and Disneyland only a couple hours (if riding AMTRAK) or less from here depending on traffic. It seems that I found out about this place purely by chance but I'm so glad that I did. After purchasing a used vehicle from a local shady used car dealer near downtown Modesto, I was astounded to learn that my transmission had completely gone out only 2 months after purchasing the vehicle. After the shop that the dealer "strongly recommended" didn't answer the phone, I was blessed to find Ralph's Transmission. They were able to coordinate having my vehicle towed from Walnut Creek to their shop in Modesto. When first noticed an issue with the transmission I called around and found Ralph's. Ralphs called a tow truck to come and pick up my truck on a Friday. They told me that they would take a look on Monday morning. He called me so I took a ride up there to see. First thing that Mario said " that's a pretty nice truck you have there" I wasn't sure if it was a complement or to inform me that it was going to cost a fortune. He gave me a quote of between $4500.00 and $6000.00. I said that a pretty wide margin, a swing of $1500.00. 0/5 stars if I could. For the last 3 weeks I've made every attempt to get into contact with the owner Mario and he never responded. I called every day and was blown off, send him emails and never once did he email me back. This company does not use quality parts, in fact they will charge you the same price as new parts would be, but they use old recycled parts to cut their costs. My truck had originally come in at 216k miles when the original remanufactured transmission was put in. Less than 12k miles had passed before I had to come in for warranty work due to having the same issue I originally had of one of the gears not working properly. We had gotten the warranty work done and Mario had given me his word that I would never have another problem with that transmission because the tech had made sure everything was correct this time around. This was at 227k that I received the vehicle back. Earlier this year I had come in for the transmission lines to be repaired and got an additional check up on transmission and I was told that everything was great. This was at 245k miles that I received it back. First week of January, the transmission went out again. I called and spoke with Erika about getting the Denali towed to the shop and she told me that it was too far for tow and that I'd be better off finding a shop in my area. The truck is currently at 249k miles, less than 4K miles after the last repair made and it failed again. Due to being rejected to bring it back to the shop, I found a shop locally to diagnose the issue. The mechanic found that the transmission lines were not flowing as clean as they could and there was a defective part installed by Ralph's transition shop upon the rebuild. The input drum was defective and it is broken in 3 different areas, which should never happen because this is a hard part of the transmission that should never break. I spoke with Erica and she said I would need to speak with mario due to my warranty being over 3 years from original date, despite the fact that warranty work had to be done already. Due to the parts that were installed by your shop being defective, it is my hope that the shop would be able to cover the charges of repair, because they did not use oem parts or even new aftermarket parts. They used old parts from other cars and will still charge full price. The warranty is up due to time, but I have not driven more than 35k miles on this transmission from original date. It has been only 20k miles since Mario had told me that I would never have an issue again with the transmission. The worst thing about this situation is that the owner avoided me and has been silent since I've been attempting to call for the last 3 weeks. Erica called to speak on Mario's behalf and let me know there is nothing they can do, even though they install crappy parts and call it new after you pay them thousands of dollars for repairs. This cost me another $3000, less than 35k miles that their product lasted, after I was promised I would be set for the life of the car. Complete waste of money and they have no empathy or take credibility for how they conduct poor business. I do not recommend this shop to anyone. Ever. They do not do quality work, they do not stand on their word, and they do not have customer service I have attached the picture read more

I had my car towed in on Monday and they did a new transmission motor mount and engine seal and I got my car back by 5:00 on Tuesday. Bree in the office was extremely helpful with helping me finance the repairs and very understanding. I drive for Uber so having my car back on the road fast is very important. My 2010 VW Jetta with 63K miles felt off while driving up hills in San Francisco on Thursday. 97 f350 with a E4OD tranny. When it was time for a rebuild I found Ralph's through yelp because the only places I was recommended to were in the Bay Area and I needed something local. Awesome customer service, knowledgeable, always contacting me with updates and they stand behind their work. Great turn around time to complete all the work and I ended up having a faulty torque converter. Ralph's did a full trans re-inspection, replaced the faulty parts and everything was covered under their warranty no questions asked. Highly recommend them for your vehicle trans repairs. read more

Highly recommend this place! Exceptional all the way around! My Yukon had begun shifting funny so during a routine maintenance trip to the dealership I asked them to service the transmission. After servicing, the adviser let me know that the transmission fluid looked very good and clean, but that they did noticed a "flair" between 2nd and 3rd gear. He recommended doing nothing at the time, but prepped me that it would likely need a new transmission sometime in the future. Being that I can't "wait" for it to fail, I turned to YELP and searched for the best transmission shop to bring it to within the SF Bay Area. I found Ralph's and while they are quite far from me (SF), I still decided this is where I wanted to go. I called and was happily greeted by Krista who took all my info. Being that I was so far and have two little babies, Krista worked with me to make things as easy as possible. She had my truck picked up and brought to their shop for evaluation. After evaluation, Mario called to let me know what he recommended. I decided to move forward with a transmission rebuild. After further evaluation, a few other things were found and Mario fixed them at no additional labor costs ... just the cost for the parts. Had the light come on again, so they took it in and mechanic ran a couple of tests for 3days to figure out what it could be...long story short, it got the job done, lights don't come on and car works great. My wife's transmission went out on her Tahoe. We had a few quotes that I felt was way over priced. I called Ralph's and they sent a tow truck to my house and had my wife's car towed to their shop for free to do diagnostics on it!!! After they completed their inspections they called and gave me a cheapest case scenario and worst case scenario pricing. When I told them to move forward they called me back and gave me an official quote which I thought was very reasonably priced . They knew I was going out of town this weekend and were able to get my car repaired in a very timely manner. I am very happy with the services this company offers and I highly recommend them . I wouldn't bother to shop around, these guys/girls will be your best option. Plus you can't beat their 100,000 mile/ 3 year warranty . 1 Star for giving me a break and keeping my car in his lot overnight with no charge . My transmission on my Volkswagen was going out and I got recommended here by a regular at my job. I just wanted to write A review for anyone who has any Mods or devices in their vehicles. BEWARE. The owner Knew that this was only way of transportation other than bus. He offered to let me keep my car there so they can check to Make Sure it's just the Transmission. I said ok. BUT explained throughly to him and the guy that would be looking over it. In order to turn on the vehicle , you have to BLOW in a Device. YES I got a DUI . Made my mistakes , and paid for them. So when they had to check on the car, I told them how. Simple stick key in engine, blow and when ( if you' haven't been drinking. So I assume they haven't given they were working . ESP on other people's Cars) you blow it'll read and verify you don't have any alcohol in your system. it will then allow you to start the vehicle. I left them three packaged brand new mouth pieces, along with wipes. That evening I was supposed to receive a call and it kept going to their auto answer machine. I tried the next morning and that afternoon, finally getting an answer I was transferred to the manager, he said they're still trying to check it out to confirm what's wrong . Later than evening , he called and said I need to go and help them turn on the car to move it ( from its original spot) wich was beside the building behind other cars . So this whole time they either didn't even look at the car when they said they were .... or they couldn't get it to start. Because the device. I called my direct service immediately, because given court order I didn't want ANY confusion. The services said there wasn't activity at all.So did they even try?? Who really knows... So I found a ride out there & it worked fine for me. There was only one mouth pieces opened ... So there's either two reasons they couldn't "GET" the device to work, they were under the influence and didn't want to get caught OR didn't even try. Because I can't believe A person that works on transmissions cannot figure out how to pick up a device , and blow. Yes I know I'm an idiot for getting a DUI. But I don't believe in all 50 years they've been in business not even the owner knew how to turn on a car with a device . Overall, he wanted to charge me 4,500 for a new transmission and battery . They drained my battery. So I bought the battery and left . Got my car fixed for half the price with warranty and sold it. To get the money back and be done with it . I do not recommend this place. I never write reviews but i had to write about this place. I had a great experience at Ralph's Transmission, the employees were super friendly & caring, they made sure I was comfortable. They broke down the whole transmission build with me & gave me a great estimate. Erica kept me update to date with my build & sent me pictures on how bad my transmission was. If anything else needed to be done she gave me a call first before proceeding. They also recommended me to other shops around Modesto because I had mentioned I needed more stuff done to my truck. I would highly recommend coming to Ralph's, but fair warning if you're looking for cheap and easy they won't do that.
