I came in due to my transmission jerking. I was recommended they drop the pan to see if there was any metal in it along with a fluid flush. That seemed to solve the problem for a couple weeks or so then it came back. Then Mike suggested we do another trans flush and that would maybe solve the problem. We did but it didn't, it got worse so I took it back. He then wanted to sell me a new transmission saying my transmission was bad. I asked about changing my lead frame which is a common problem with my make and model but his answer was "I haven't had much luck with changing the lead frame before." So I took my vehicle to another shop where they changed the lead frame and resolved my issue. No new transmission needed. read more

Three month review: Had my automatic transmission rebuilt (December 2023) at Tradeway. The transmission is in a 2007 Dodge pickup. I use it mainly for hauling a medium sized travel trailer and transporting vehicles via car trailer. The transmission has been, and still is, working beautifully and with no problems. Ok so rant is coming! I took my car to tradeway transmissions in modesto because of a weird noise it was making whenever I would turn the wheel. I was advised that I needed brakes so after paying almost 600.00 and guess what when I got the car back it was making the same noise! Come to find out it wasn't the brakes at all it was a something plugged for drainage! Anyway they un clogged whatever it was and the noise stopped. Well that's not the end of the story! After a few months my car started pulling to the right like it was way outta alignment, then when I would back out it would make this horrible noise, and when I would go on the brakes, the steering would jump really bad. So I call and let them know what's going on and was told if it was still under warranty the parts would be covered but not the labor! So pissed off I took it somewhere else. According to pep boys I needed brakes! I told them I had replaced the brakes a few months before and they were shocked. They said the brake pads were worn down and glazed. Needless to say it cost me 1100 dollars to fix my fucking car! So today I call Mike from tradeway to let him know what happen and he is basically calling me a liar. First he tells me that it is him that answers the phone and he wouldn't have told me that labor wasn't included in warranty. I told him that I spoke with a woman so no he isn't the only one who answers the phone. Then he tells me I am wrong about the brake pads but can't explain how they would've worn down in a few months and keeps getting off the phone because he has customers and will call me back. 2 bad experience with this place. 0,000 miles guess what was her response ? Oh we recommend changing transmission fluid every 12,000 . And that's not true because I personally used to do those kind of service when I was inclined tech it is every 30,000 miles service. Anyway back to my story so this is what I went through. Mike I'm not sure why you can't or don't want to find my information in your computer but I did get my car done there and I went through my insurance. You also told me my u-ball joint was bad and not covered by my policy and guess what, it was. You could have called and ask my insurance but instead you decided not to even though I asked you to. Took a car in knowing the transmission was shot , asked them to fix the transmission and whatever else was wrong / repairable . Instead they fixed the motor mounts had me come pick the car up and of course transmission goes out within days of picking up car. Also burnt out the dvd player in the car as a nice little going away gift. I don't know if Roger no longer being the owner has anything to do with running business, but I found it totally unprofessional as far as the operation goes. After having a rear main seal replaced, I was charged $1,000 and my invoice had exactly that; $1,000. No breakdown of Labor or parts, which is against the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Additionally, when I walked in, she just asked for my payment and never even gave me an invoice. I had to ask! Mike, who I believe is the current owner, is a nice guy but the operation of the business needs help. As far as the work that was done, not happy there either. My car started vibrating after I got it. I knew it was probably the rear motor mount, since Acura had just replaced my front and side 3 months before. Long story short, it was the rear mount as well as a broken vacuum line, which could only have happened when they put it all back together. I will NEVER recommend this place and advise others to find a reputable shop who follows the BAR guidelines. read more

Tradeway Transmission has helped me out alot. A few weeks ago my transmission started slipping and leaking transmission fluid. With my work schedual it was hard to find a shop that was open when I got off of work to have it towed to. Tradeway was able to tow my car for me for free while I was at work and give me a free quote shortly after they picked it up. They rebuilt the transmission in my 2008 Honda Civic in less than a week and also replaced a motor mount for free as well as do some work on my exhaust for free. I am so disappointed in this business - took my '68 Chevy in for transmission work and to have some edlebrock parts n a demond carb (I bought all the parts and gaskets) & change front tires. Three weeks later my car is still there and the recpt thinks its a standing joke my car is not touched. The mech. broke the lock on my wheel (if he had called me - I could have told him the key was in the car) & said I need a new distrib. (What the *#$%?). Cut the new dual feed line n put rubber hose in the middle - could have taken it back and gotten a shorter one IF I WAS CALLED! The owner said that they are primarily a tranny shop and his mech had messed up on someone elses car and had to fix it so they were too busy to fix mine ALSO there are people that needed the tranny work because they are their work trucks n needed them right away - SO WHY DID THEY TAKE IN MY CAR? They damaged the side of my silverado with the intake when he swung it over the side of the bed - the tail gate was down! and that was the last straw - another shop Car Pros 1 (great shop) pointed out the gaskets I paid for were not on my car, don't need a distributer and there was a kitchen cabinet knob in my valve cover! CAR PROS 1 had my car back on the road in two days! THANKS MIKE AND MITCH! My thoughts on Tradeway? if you don't want to drive your car, don't mind being the shop joke and/or don't care if you get ripped off then this is the shop for you! Roger and his wife are the most professional and honest people! I had a solenoid body go out. Another mechanic charged me $90 to diagnose it and then wanted to farm it out to a transmission shop for almost $800. So I called 3 local transmission shops that didn't work on my type of vehicle, but all recommended Tradeway. I'm so glad I called! First off, Roger got me in right away, explained everything that was going on, and only charged me $495! If I ever have anything wrong with my transmission again, I'm definitely going back. But, honestly, my truck is running great, no more lag when shifting - so knock on wood, it'll be awhile before I'll have to visit again! :) read more

I'm definitely impressed with this shop! I had previously taken my car to another shop to be told I needed a total transmission rebuild and was quoted a very high price. I stopped by into this shop to compare prices and they were willing to take a look at my car beforehand. Turns out, i just needed a converter replaced which saved me an expense I didn't have to make. Everyone there was nice and willing to explain what was going on with my car! I was expecting a $3000 repair and I walked out spending less than half of that. Had my transmission serviced there a while back and the "technician" stole the change out of the center dash pocket.Also power jacked it,held the brake and accelerated the engine a bit to make it shift hard for a while.After I complained to the owner to show him the problem he said not to bring it in to check it .Would not recommend this shop. read more
