Updating this review again. I would give 1 star but out of respect for the owners, I will leave it at 3. I received a message after I updated my original review from 5 stars to 3 stars today. The response was unprofessional. A server should not use the owner's account to contact a customer about their review. I never mentioned the server's name or a description of him as so to keep it anonymous. However, he felt the need to message me and call me out for my review. I have been in the restaurant industry as both a server and busboy. I know what it takes to be a good server and what good service means. This is not what I received that day yet we still tipped him decently. At no point was I rude to him in person either. My review on yelp is reflective of the service I felt I received. Additionally, my review is not the only one that mentions poor service. The message he sent was unwarranted and accusatory. I will never return to this restaurant and will not recommend it based on this server's actions today. I choose not to post his message to me as yelp is not the place for this type of behavior and I will not participate in such ridiculousness.

It really pains me to update this review in a negative way. I always love supporting local, small mom and pop shops. We recently came back for lunch on a Saturday and it was a completely different experience both with the service and the food. Service wise, I have yet to understand how they employed someone who had to be asked for every single item instead of knowing/anticipating needs based on food ordered. Example: he failed to give me a cutting knife for my pork chop. I must have asked him 5 times for every single thing we needed. He also input my order wrong, causing my food to come out later than my husband's and the food was cold. As far as food goes, there was zero taste in the pork chop seasoning this time. The pork chop itself was cold when they delivered my rice dish. The rice dish was missing the pickled vegetables that usually come with the dish. Overall, I was highly disappointed with our latest visit and I'm not sure with all that went wrong if I would come back.

What a gem! This Vietnamese restaurant just opened. Run by the nicest couple and the staff were so nice. It's actually a pretty, sit-down place you can take dates. They are also open very late if you're in the area or in Midtown after some drinking. If you're too lazy, they also partner with Uber Eats.
As for the food, 5/5 for the two dishes we tried. The beef pho broth was super authentic. The bowl was sizable and the meat seemed high quality and not fatty. Also got the rice dish with pork chops. Authentic tasting and huge portion.
I know people will complain about prices but I don't mind. It's not a hole in wall place in Bellaire/Chinatown, so what do you expect? The place is clean, the portions big, the service good so the price is justifiThe owners have experience and it shows; husband use to work at Kim Son.
Also, don't forget to try their Thai tea and green Thai tea. Both delicious. read more
