That first day I had trouble with my service and have not had consistent service since it was installed. I was off work due to the virus and was experiencing the internet and wi fi outages every day. I called your offices constantly, using my cell phone when I drove into town. One of the reasons I was so adamant about having wi fi was that my cell phone data service does not work at my house and I needed wi fi to be able to have a reliable phone at my house. I need to be able to have contact with my place of work, especially when I was waiting for the all clear for my company to call us back into work. I can not communicate with my supervisor because I do not have phone service. When I first signed up, I asked if I could get a land line, so I can have a consistent phone. I explained the issue with my cell phone not getting service at my house so I wanted to be sure I had a land line. I was told I would get a land line with my service. Well, I was misinformed because the phone is a VOIP phone, not a land line. This upset me a great deal to be lied to about the phone service, especially when I explained the issue right in the beginning. Each time I called to tell CS (customer service) about my internet issues, they did not understand that they could not get me on my phone at my house because I cannot get a signal. They would call me and then note that I wasn't available or did not answer the phone. I was constantly telling CS that they could not call me because I had no service. Every time I called they would tell me the same thing; disconnect the unit. Wait five minutes. Plug it back in. Let them know when it is back up. Run the test. Sometimes they tell me there is no indication that I have problems with service. Other times they say they can see where the service was interrupted or was out. I have to explain the issues over and over, they want to do the same things over and over that did not work before. I was constantly driving back and forth from down the road at the hardware store to my house, trying to stay on the phone line, be patient and follow the directions of CS, trying to figure out the issues. Each time a new technician came out, he changed out my modem, and left. Each time I am still having the same issues. I keep calling, and keep getting the same response; we go through the motions to reset the modem; if we send someone out, we will have to charge you if it is not our error, even to the point of being nasty to me because they don't believe me. Every time they came out, they replaced the modem and left. One technician told me to call him when I had issues and he would come over to check it out. For what? He was there replacing the modem and trying to figure it out when he was there and the issues were present and he still could not figure it out. I went back to work the end of May. I still have issues. I work 10-12 hours a day 40 miles from home, and cannot take off work to have technicians attempt to do the same things that do not work. You won't come out on Saturday. I have done speed checks online before during and after an event and I have great speed. So the problem seems to be out side of the house. When I have an event, the picture freezes, there is a little circle at the right top of the screen that spins around, and most of the time the screen then goes blank and I get a network error message. This happens several times an hour. Now, since Thursday, the TV image is pixelated every single time I try to watch the streaming TV. This is new, and disrupts the image during the times the image is not frozen. When I try to talk to someone on FaceBook messenger on my phone, the signal is inconsistent. The picture freezes, the audio disappears, most of the time it says "signal lost, reconnecting", sometimes the signal will drop. The signal is weak, pixelated and the audio cuts out. I cannot use the phone, nor can I text out. I can only sometimes use FaceBook messenger to text out. My boss does not use Face Book messenger. I have to drive out a few miles to call into work if I am out sick. In the beginning of my service, I asked for credit on my account because of the lack of consistent and usable service. I was granted 5 days of credit. I am still not able to have consistent service and I am still very, very, unhappy with your company's efforts to correct this problem. You have sent out 4 techs, they gave me 5 new modems (one tech had to try two modems; when he saw the issues were still occurring with the first modem he put in he thought the modem was bad). Your company has not made any efforts to reach out to me to see if the problem has been corrected, or offer any resolution. I will be terminating my service as soon as I can get a WK&T appointment. read more

Horrible customer service - We had trenching done around our house. MediaCom was called out to mark wires before digging began. They did not mark the wires properly and several were cut during digging. We called them out and they ran temporary wires, which they said they would replace with permanent wires and then they would bury them. A FULL YEAR has gone by, and we still have above-ground temporary wires running through our back yard. We keep calling and explaining the situation to someone in a call center who recites pre-written lines. They have sent out multiple technicians to look at the wires - one tech claimed the wires were 3rd party and canceled our ticket with no communication to us. Another tech was supposed to put in a request to bury the lines- I called MediaCom and there was no record of the request being put in. Most recently, were told it would be a 2 YEAR wait for wire burial. Sick to my stomach that they can get away with these things and still make money. read more

If I could give this company 0 Stars I would. Let me start by saying I never give reviews. I might browse them from time to time but never actually give one. Mediacom is a very shady and lackluster company with poor customer service. They will try to sell you on 100 mbps internet speeds but never come even close to delivering this. The vast majority of the time you will get something closer to 50-55 mbps while paying close to 100 dollars for far more. Last June I moved into a new apartment and scheduled them to turn the internet on about a week into living in the new place. They showed up, turned the internet on and by 5 pm, without warning, my internet was shut off. Apparently the previous tenant had a shut off order in place for the same date and no one, not the customer service rep, the tech turning the internet on or the tech turning the internet off had checked the system to see if there was any conflicting orders. It took them over 2 weeks and numerous scheduled appointments and misleading information before they finally turned my internet off. After telling me time and again that I had to be home for it to be turned on, they finally turned it on without me being home. Fast forward to a week before Christmas, I go to pay my monthly bill of 97 dollars and Im greeted with a 198 dollar overage. After arguing with the customer service rep about how I could possibly be overdue on something I had been paying monthly. I find out that they had billed the previous tenant 100 dollars for July and had not notified me of this (I had a few weeks where I refused to pay them for internet I was not recieving). So I was forced 6 months after the fact to pay 198 dollars on a bill two days before christmas. The company loves to straddle your internet and then play the "reset your modem" game when you call to complain. Even directing you to their website to speed test instead of a third party. And when that fails and they cant convince you that they helped fix your internet with something you can do without bothering to call them, they tell you they are going to dispatch a tech to your home. Because nothing convinces you they are committed to customer service like a guy coming out, telling you theres nothing he can do and they are going to need to get a tech to work on the box on the street... But weeks later you still have 55 mbps and nothings changed. read more

I have had Mediacom since December 2019 and paying for 100MBPS internet plus other video options. I have not once had an internet connection anywhere near 100 MBPS and my total package costs more than $200 per month. The service is nonexistent and several times our cable TV has dropped off for no reason whatsoever. I started out getting NETFLIX and several other channels and as each month goes by, more and more channels are dropped off, yet I'm still paying the $200+ to these con artists. Been a customer for 20 yrs, called to sign up for auto-payments today in order to save the $10/m. I was told that isn't available for existing customers, only our new customers. Then I'm told my current rate is less than their loyalty customer rate. Mediacom needs to figure out how to VALUE there existing customers. I am already looking into other options. Hopefully I can find something that has more options. RARELY do we need more than 200gb but for those couple of months we do end up going higher (because I cannot predict exactly when they'll be) we have to carry the 1000gb plan. We have had Mediacom for a while now and for someone who likes gaming I would not recommend Mediacom. We pay for 1000mbps download speeds and every time I check it while I'm gaming it is under 1 mbps. The highest speeds I've ever had is about 20mbps even though we pay for 1000mbps speeds. Their consistency is atrocious as well. We never get the speeds we pay for and Mediacom is incapable of having any form of good internet speed while we are streaming tv and playing games. I've tried to use an Ethernet cable to help fix the problem but instead of fixing the problem it made it 100 times worse. It shut off all the internet and nothing was working. UPDATE--- PART 2: Mediacom sent out another tech. HE WAS EXCEPTIONAL!!! He got the problem fixed in mins and I've had no issues since. I was about in tears when he left bc of the joy and relief he provided with fixing my issue. He checked thing the first rep didn't bother to look at or even ask about. If you HAVE to get internet, I'm telling you ask for Shelby!!! He is phenomenal!!! If you miss the bs i encountered first....... PART ONE: If i could give this zero stars, i would. I purchased them as my job is now WFH permanently. For some reason the internet will not connect to my work, although half my team has them and i have a verizon hotspot that's working great. They sent out a tech who was nothing but attitude and talked down to me and through me the whole time. He told me it was my jobs issues and they needed to resolve it. I had advised him they had done everything previously trying to resolve it including replacing my workstation. They also sent signal reports to me to provide for him but he didn't even look at them. He told me "we'll in the contract it essentially states if it works, it works and if it doesn't, it doesn't." When i asked for his name, he began to spew off ALL his credentials and how he was a senior specialist and been doing this for years. Internet is slow periodically, but I don't mind that as much. My issue is with billing. I signed up for automatic payments. I later noticed my bills were not being paid automatically and that I was assessed a late fee. I contacted Mediacom who informed me it takes 2 months for auto billpay to be established. Why 2 months? Don't know and don't care. I paid the late fee. Over 2 months later, my bills were STILL not being automatically paid and was assessed a late charge AGAIN. So, again, I contacted Mediacom. I asked why auto billpay wasn't set up. Their response was to just cancel this service with no explanation. Currently looking up data plans from my cell phone service provider, so I can cancel Mediacom service at home. read more

Easily the worst ISP I've ever dealt with; they make Comcast look like angels. The connection constantly drops, random charges appear on your bill, it's expensive and sometimes you have to reset the connection through their app because internet speed just slows down for no reason. It's been better lately as far as connection goes, but the random charge I was given was more recent. I called and they said that charge wasn't supposed to be there and they didn't know what it was, so they removed it. Wow. I wonder how many other people get charges that aren't supposed to be there. There are literally no other speedy cable options in my area, so I'm stuck with them. It's either this or CenturyLink. Thanks, capitalism. My elderly Dad's Cable and phone service went out 4 days ago. A technician came over and told him he got them both fixed. They failed on the phone service and it is still out. Just signed up for a new Mediacom account for internet and TV. A couple days later had a coupon in my mailbox offering the same service at 43% off. I called the number on the coupon and reached Mediacom, who could verify I have an account with them, but was told "those are mailed by our telemarketing department, we don't honor those coupons." I pay $84/mo for unreliable service that has outages almost weekly. If you have the chance, DON'T GET MEDIACOM. Mediacom is one problem after another. The equipment is uniformly cheap and often years out of date. Services mysteriously appear on your bill. Functionality (such as DVR service) just quits working. Calls to customer service are answered in a third-world country by agents who aren't authorized to do anything but schedule a service call in 10 tp 15 days. The reps at the local office are indifferent at best, but usually rude and unpleasant. The service techs are inexperienced; standard procedure when you have a problem is to keep calling and keep having them send techs until you get one who can figure out the issue. It's very much a cable TV company, with all that entails. Laziness and incompetence at an outrageous price. read more

I have called Mediacom about my internet service multiple times due to low speed and multiple drops. I even paid for increased speed: 200 Mbps because the excuse was service slows down when more people in the neighborhood get on. But I started doing Speedtest and my average is 47 Mbps daily since October 2019. I recommend you check your speed. Mediacom has an app for that. After rerunning lines multiple times and repeated calls they finally sent someone to check beyond my house line and it turns out the "box" that feeds our neighborhood is bad. But the person they sent out can't fix that and I have to wait two more days. I telework so I have to switch providers. The people with disabilities I help can't reschedule because my internet drops and Mediacom will get to it if they feel like it. Plus now this is impacting my livelihood. T. Perkins read more

AWFULLY DISAPPOINTED Once I moved to a new area, I called Mediacom to get services and was told they didn't service my area. I had to hooked up another company and the service was AWFUL. The product and the Customer Service. Then I spoke to my next-door neighbor and they advised they have Mediacom. I thought, "what the heck, why not call again just in case." I called again and look at that, I was on the schedule for hook up within a day or so! I have only had Mediacom since June or July 2019 and since I became a Residential Customer, I got a great deal for the next year. Anyways, the installer came and was fantastic and very friendly. It doesn't take much, but a happy customer here. Fast forward to May 22, 2020. With the pandemic of COVID-19, there was been some flexibility with businesses and employees' workspaces and time. Like most, I have been working from home for several months. Today, I was having issues with the internet saying it was Online, but I was not getting a full connection and was unable to load anything that needed internet connection. I did what I knew and unplugged the router box and disconnected the cable line while restarting my entire workstation. I had no luck. I spoke to my boss and let him know that I was going to be calling Mediacom. I spoke with an agent (I did not get her name but have her ID# 5X6) and was told multiples times that she can get a technician out on May 29th at the earliest. One week from today. During a pandemic that mostly EVERYONE (besides essential workers) is working from home. I told her I do not accept it, multiples times and I know she was getting frustrated as she was trying to talk over me stating once again, it is not acceptable. There was a little going back and forth with her for about 15 minutes before I stated that I need to speak to her supervisor. I was then on hold for roughly 15 minutes. Then I received an automatic text message at 12:51PM stating that my appointment is scheduled for May 29 from 8am-12pm. While still on hold, I received another text message at 1pm stating that my appointment is scheduled for May 28 from 8am-12pm. I was then transferred from Agent #5X6 to her supervisor, JR (ID#1C6) a few minutes later. I explained to JR what was going on and let him know that I apologize if I was rude to the previous agent as I know she was doing what she could within her means. JR did run a couple things on his end. Still I'm unable to fully work. He did state he can offer a pro-rate of my bill for how many days I will be without internet and unable to work. It would be $10.03 credited to my bill. All I could do is laugh- I am missing work for $10.03. That isn't even remotely close to my HOURLY wage. I said that is unacceptable. Then was offered two weeks which was $20.06. If I'm unable to work because Mediacom is unable to send out a technician before 6 days, I miss work and miss out on income. JR did state he was unable to reimburse me for what I would miss from work. I do understand he was doing what he could, but I stated I needed to speak to his manager. I was on hold for about 10 minutes. JR came back on the line and stated his supervisor, Wella (I do not have her ID# as he did not have it) advised to credit me one month's bill- approximately $42. After being on the phone for 1 hour and 12 minutes (being on hold for more than half the call) and being told nothing can be done except the above and that the Dispatch Team would look for a sooner date as the company has policies, I advised JR that I appreciate him doing what he was able to and I guess put me down for 28th 8-12pm and the $42 credit but I will be going to social media. He didn't really seem to care at this point. I completely understand the chain of command (or escalation process) and it's a call center. I know I'm more than frustrated, but if you are telling me I'm going to miss out on 5 WORKING days and I get a $42 credit on my account? That is beyond ridiculous and almost insulting. I feel bad even writing this as this is the only bad review I have EVER left, but if I had another option of quality product and services, I would go elsewhere after today. read more

My Mother passed away in November. I searched Mediacom's website and Mom's online account to cancel service 5 days before the end of the billing cycle, but there wasn't an option to do that. I contacted Mediacom on the the following day and was told that they needed a death certificate to cancel. 2 weeks later I received the death certificate and left work early to drive up to Mediacom's office in Auburn. I was told by the lady working there that the death certificate wasn't necessary, that if I paid the prorated difference she would go ahead and close it. I grudgingly paid the fee and considered us good. My sister found out and called them up explaining that we shouldn't owe anything since we tried in good faith to cancel before the monthly renewal. They agreed to reimburse us for the amount I paid. A month later I received the monthly bill from them including a late fee and the remainder of the previous month's charge! I called Mediacom up and the lady I talked to had no idea how to handle this so she put me on hold for 20 minutes before disconnecting me. My sister took a crack at it and was told by someone else that we would be reimbursed and to check my credit card statement. We heard nothing until today. Well guess what?! Instead of getting the full reimbursement, they've decided to only give me back half of what I paid! Mediacom and its crappy internet service are a joke and need serious competition to bury them permanently. read more

Mediacom sucks! I had an appt with a tech last week. He told us it was the TV not Mediacom. So we bought a new TV, hooked everything up, didn't work. So called Mediacom, performed all the prompts from the phone call. When nothing worked, I was told the box was defective and an appointment was made for a technician on 9/13. Well, today, Mediacom showed up at the house to repair the cable but we weren't home. They called me and said they mixed up the days and was at our home and because we weren't there, we would have to call and reschedule.......what?????. Why do I need to reschedule???? Because they cancelled my appointment for 9/13. I had taken the morning off and made special arrangements for my 9/13 appointment all for nothing! They have no respect for my time! Not really sure why I was a customer for 10 years when I look back now. Constant outages no credit for any down time. Prices seemed to rise monthly after my first year where they buy new customer promotion ended. No program to even get close for retaining of current customers. When my last bill of $326.00 for one month of internet service and basic cable plus nfl network and kids and family package I decided to call and cancel. They seemed to not care as usual and my $326.00 became a final bill of $392.00 because they required 7 days to cancel even though it was a simple button click. I guess they got me again. Worst service ever. Internet keeps cutting out randomly, they send someone out and it fixes it for a few weeks then it's back to the same thing. Not only does their internet keep cutting out but they don't even cancel your service when you cancel it. Instead they charged me whatever I needed to be charged up to the date of cancellation, but they send a late bill on top of that after and try to charge for the following month. Obviously their retention service isn't open and they can only tell me to call back tomorrow and have no record of me cancelling. Now I have to call during my work hours tomorrow to complain and see if they actually fix their issue. Such trash service it makes me so mad. If they don't correct their mistake I will be going to their office and raising hell. read more

Buyer beware. We called to remove HBO from our service and were told by the customer service rep that we could have a better package deal with new equipment. We asked the price and she told us and it was cheaper. A service rep came out and installed new TiVo boxes on the Friday before the Super Bowl and left after it appeared all was working. Saturday morning we had 2 TVs not working. No one could get to our place until Monday. No party at our house because of the TV problem Sunday. A service rep came Monday and "fixed" the TVs that didn't work plus checked all TVs. After he left, another TV stopped working. I think Mediacom has not kept up with technology or they just want to irritate their customers! If we would have just got our HBO canceled and kept things the way they were, I would have ALL my TVS working! Ugh. read more

If I could give a lower rating, I would. Mediacom gets one star because that's the minimum I can give it. It was bad when I lived in Des Moines, it was bad when lived in Ames. First of all, there are no local support numbers anymore. They are all piped to their national line. When you call their national line, they tell you to call another number for internet support. When you write this down and call the internet support line it's the same line as the line you called before. Their support is terrible. Their tech support is only good for masochists who don't have full-time employment and can sit on the phone for hours at a time and repeating the same information to each person who receives the transferred calls. The best tech support strategy is hoping you never need it. Mediacom's operating philosophy is that we are here to pay for what ever they throw our way. As far as television viewing selections go, it is limited and expensive for what you get. I made the switch to DirecTV and have never given it a second thought. It is time for local governments to give us better options in our cable franchises. read more
