I was paying for them and never realized they lied about it until I moved to another apartment. The tech who was sent to transfer my cable to the other apartment told me I had been paying for the EERO system up to this point, although they were never hooked up in my apartment. It's time to review the quality control of Mediacom service which seemed to have declined in workmanship over the years even though our rates have skyrocketed to $44 depending your package. The outside service work due to a hissing noise coming from an out door panel was left u done. Yet, they have not returned to complete the job. Wires, cords, half open utility boxes cause liability issues, and may present other hazards during our lawn season. Several weekly calls have been placed for the repair team to come and complete the job with those requests not being adhered to. Repairing the outside utility boxes, burying the lines, and cords are important because each if left unaddressed presents a safety hazard which must be rectified. Normally when I call for service I get technicians who are experienced to fully complete the job, but this time around I do not know what has happened? read more

Custom Service is crappy. Techs are clueless. I have placed service calls and tech cancel cause they are unable to fix the issue due to it requires 3 party contractor which everyone including myself is aware however, you need to place service call to receive crappy $7.95 credit. BTW issue start 6/2024 when teenager speeding knock down the utility pole. I know waited patiently for too long to still have to pay full price. I have disconnected service and moved on to Starlink which is 100 times bette. read more

Mediacom in Des Moines, IA has poor customer service and shady tactics. My internet went out for 18 days until multiple technicians was finally able to fix my main internet line on the street. When I loss service I checked my coaxial cable and it looked frayed. I called and told customer service this could be the issue. These guys sent out 2 techs on 2 separate occasions and they failed to do anything to fix my issue. First guy came and said they needed 2 techs for the job. For the second appointment, I took off work so I could be home for the technicians to come to my house to replace my line. The day of the second appointment, yet again 1 tech comes and says the same thing the first tech mentioned but also stated my main line on the street needed replaced which needed 2 techs. I showed the 2nd tech that my coaxial needed replaced and this tech showed up without the necessary tools to do the job. Why didn't the first tech set up the proper appointment? I lost a day worth of pay for nothing to be done! The second tech said he would schedule another appointment but told me it was a 2 day window?! Who has time to sit around for 2 days until service can be done? Thursday comes around and I hear nothing. Friday comes around and I hear nothing..... Furious, I call customer service later on and they said that my job was in a different category so they can't schedule an appointment. I was told that I had to be worked in because they had to coordinate with 2 techs to be at my home on the same day. 1 week passes by and I hear nothing. 2 weeks passes by and I hear nothing. My girlfriend calls the company since she had the time and they told her it was a 2 man job and that they would schedule an appointment. The day of the appointment no one came to my home or reached out. She calls the day of the appointment in the evening and customer service tells her they needed a bucket truck for the job..... on the 17th day I had it. I sent out a long complaint e-mail regarding the situation and then on the 18th day 3 techs show up for the job and finally replaced my internet line. 1 issue resolved. I had to set up another appointment for my coaxial cable to be replaced. My internet was working even though my coaxial cable was damaged so I ended up canceling my appointment. I was then hounded by customer service to have someone come replace the coaxial because the rep said stated there could be possible issues with the frayed cable sending signals back to the company and could cause issues for other customers. I then agreed to set up and appointment to have them replace my cable. The day of the service 1 tech shows up and again he didn't have the necessary tools to do HIS job.... he had to borrow my hammer drill and extension cords to perform HIS job. After the service was finished, I made sure to get my credit back for the inconvenience that Mediacom caused and days without internet service. I called customer service to ask about my credits. They said they credited me but the bill looked higher than it should've been. I ask them about the inconsistency and was told that I was charged approximately $50 for the appointment that the tech failed to bring the necessary tools to replace my coaxial cable. I was not told by customer service or the technician I was going to be charged for this appointment. I only agreed to the appointment due to the "possible" issues that my frayed line could've caused Mediacom and other customers. How can I get charged $50 for this? This was Mediacom's and other customers problem not mine.... So why should I get charged for this appointment? If there was another internet company available I would switch in a heartbeat. My Internet net wasn't working right do to your infrastructure. Which is fine things do over time. Don't tell me that it's the router..... Or have me reset it multiple times or power cycle it's 2025 people know to do this......The good news is they did a bunch of work on there infrastructure in this area and it fixed my internet. Bad news is it took them 3 months to do this. Also another low point my internet isn't working currently..... So is my internet not working I decided to update my review there should be away and or a script that allows them to see that outgoing internet connections are not being received if they can check routers from their place they should be able to see this as well and with a script maybe they could get ahead beforethey're paying customers come home to find out their Internet isn't working or their cable or their phone but also this would be a way that they could credit back for what people are paying and not getting. This would also stop people from probably submitting claims to the FCC being you can submit claims for things like this especially when their habitual offenders of it. read more

I have a gripe and also a compliment. Went in a Saturday right when the opened at 10am. There were 2 staff there and had everyone wait so they could "enter checks" and do other duties before they could help anyone. Why not get there earlier and handle this? A long line of customers waited about 25 minutes for them to get ready to see customers. Worth noting, the one female staff was very apologetic to customers and when I was finally helped she was great. read more

I inquired as to why my bill increased after downsizing my internet speed and was told because I no longer had the previous promotion in addition I was charged for having a mesh router, I explained that I had no such device and that I owned my modem and router, she argued that it was up and running also it may have been placed in the garage. I pointed out that I had just ran a new cable from their junction box to my sole source in the living room and yet she insisted I had the mesh router, I finally got it resolved after spending an hour in chat with a rep who stated it showed it was never sent then proceeded to asking me if I had sent it Back !!!, I canceled their service and was told a refund was due after a month I called and they stated the check had been mailed on the 16th of May so I said I would wait a few more days, it showed up 2 days later with the 23rd listed on the check, makes me wonder how it got sent on the 16th yet was dated the 23rd !! read more

EXTREMELY frustrated with this service we have had since 2016. I've spent the last 2 days on the phone with different reps to include supervisors, all with different feedback. On Tuesday, October 22nd, and 23rd, there are recordings that confirm mixed messages and a supervisors promise (Steve) that did not happen. Steve actually called me back after we were denied to say he had approved and he would be sending me the confirmation paperwork via email, this was Tuesday, the 22nd, check your recordings! Of course there was not a confirmation after all. So I had to call again on Wednesday. We have been customers, like I said since 2016 with never a failed payment and paying the maximum pkg price of $165. I finally was able to evaluate some of the new promotions so we had to be processed like a new customer. We didn't qualify because the result came back "Unknown Risk". WTH, do you not account for 8 years of business with never a late or non-payment! Then, trying to get our social security numbers which I absolutely am NOT going to provide based on all the identify theft these days. I talked with 3 different people, one guy hung up when I told him I would cancel so........not worth the frustration and incompetence, I just cancelled the account! Not only does it work better, it costs less, and we don't have to deal with incompetent ass holes. We returned their equipment, then got our final bill which included the cost of the equipment that was already returned. Called them to confirm they got the equipment, they said they had, and asked for a new corrected bill. They said ok. The bill never came and we never heard from them again. When media com works it is good. Unfortunately, they are slow to respond to outages and properly bury the fiber that comes to your home. This means there is a good chance an animal, weather, or basic yardwork will destroy the connection. expect a week wait to have to line repaired. Then there is a good chance they will not properly bury the line leading to a repeat issue. FYI the tech that repaired the fiber is not the one that buries the line so expect the second person to show in 1 to 3 weeks. (This is the third time in less than 6 months this has happened.) Overall better than Comcast Xfinity, but not great or recommend if other options are available. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had. First, the salesman lied to me about the pricing just so I would just give them my business. Second, I had to have 2 technicians have to come out it my house because the first guy: 1 - was high while working in my home. 2 - Use my personal bathroom for 10 minutes while he was supposed to be working. 3 - used my personal charger to charge his phone. The second technI Ian was kind and helpful but had to fix what the first technician did because he was wrong. Both failed to follow Mediacom's "policy", by not calling 15 minutes before arrival. I was told also after the first technician that my account was cancelled completely and had to pay an additional fees on top of all of that. I highly recommend not using Mediacom for any of your personal or business use. They are unprofessional and disappointing. read more

Update from a prior review. Installed line is still just hanging on my fence. Called the city and they say Mediacom has been doing this all over town. Just called them again and assured me the "work order has been placed" but "no contractor has picked up the order". They said it's unlikely to be buried before April because of the ground freezing. It's almost like they could've expedited it before the ground froze when I called the first 3 times in September/October. read more

I called MediaCom to get my new internet and TV services in the Mattawan area on 5/10/21. They gave me an appt date of 6/3/21. The service tech arrived only to tell me that my place did not have a line/cable and it would be another 20-30 days until they could bury a line. It is now 6/23/21 and they were out yesterday and buried a line ONLY to cut the neighbor's existing line that was in the box. So now both households are without TV and Internet. Returned my router and eero and the lady was rude and was saying that the tech will bring out new equipment after I said I bought my own router. She wasn't listening to me. An now I'm still dealing with a bill of $413.00, the people responding to these help reviews give you a email, but in the email when you send your issue they say you have to call and then I'm in the same spot fighting to get my bill fixed because someone closed my account instead of transferring it. Here in Clive, IA, In the first year of our internet and cable service, we had no data surcharges. Suddenly, at the start of our second year, we are getting hit with $10 to $20 extra charges per month related to data useage. I was told by one of their CS reps it had to do with our watching Netflix. As a customer, I have no way of confirming if the data useage is legit as there is no accounting of how they determined excess data useage on their monthly statements. It appears Mediacom has discovered a license to steal from their customers. They need to be investigated according to their billing practises which appear to be highly abusive if not illegal. Although their service has worked well for us, their billing methods are highly suspect. In good faith, I cannot recommend Mediacom. To anyone who might read this, DON'T go with Mediacom. read more

Predatory business practices. Regularly tries to sneak in fees and continue to charge even after the service has been cancelled. At one point during my year stuck using them, they "accidentally" shut off my service and continued to charge me through the two weeks it took to send another technician to turn it back on. I was told by several representatives that this would be fixed, though instead of rectifying the bill, they ignored it then added an additional late fee. read more

Overcharging and poor communication! Charged for things i never initially agreed, i paid over $160 to start the service, this was supposed to be my full start up fee and i was told i would have a $20 installation fee that turned into a 3 month charge of $20 a month, they tried to charge me for the modem after i had returned it, had to call and correct, they charged me for full installation fee when i followed necessary guidance to self install and still got charged, they never hooked up or even offered to hook up all or even more than 1 of my cable outlets then demand i pay over $100 more for someone to comeback out and do what should have already been done in the first place. I tested the internet and it is constantly shutting off and turning back on, no matter how fast it is, it never stays that way. I found several other complaints about this same connection issue so i know it is not my gear (fyi i have a 1g modem and 1g router with multi wireless and hard wired unit support) If you have another option, take it. read more

If you get outside their contract, though you still pay for service, be prepared for charges over double what you have been paying. Try to stop the agony by cancelling your subscription; unless you do it on the exact date 30 days in advance, you will be billed for another 30 days even though you have paid in advance for their services. Their internet is literally the worst. They advertise a wifi plan of $19.99. What they don't tell you is that they actually only have plans now for the lowest quality at $34.99 a month and you have to pay them for a router each month for an additional $14 and they don't allow you to pay automatically on the lowest plan so you have to pay an additional $10 for not having automatic payments and they also charge you a $95 set up fee and a $10 activation fee. I've paid Mediacom $216 for one month of dial up service at this point. if you can choose literally any other company. I'll be changing as soon as a new carrier is available at my location. Also when it was installed, the technician was 3 hours PAST my window and the second time they came out ( because the first guy "didn't know what he was doing with splicing the cable line") was an hour outside of my time window. Time is money as well and that's 4 hours plus phone call hold times I've waisted. read more

ZERO STARS! I've had them for 7 years, they continue to jack the price up under the guise of giving you more data. I'm currently paying $100/month for 500-2000GB - I have always used less than 200/month and never needed more. 9/18/2024 I got a notification (AGAIN) that they were doing "maintenance" in my area and my service would be disrupted. It went down 45 minutes later and has not worked since. Called tech support, did all the unplugging and restarting at least a dozen times on different days with different techs. Doesn't work. I have pretty new equipment (this year) so it's not my equipment, it powers up, it just can't find a signal. They refuse to send a tech out on a Saturday. Monday-Friday 8-5 when I'm away at work is all they offer. If you work and live alone/don't have anyone to sit at your house, you're screwed and they don't care. If you rely on the internet and use it for your only source of entertainment without cable, as in for streaming services and using smart Tvs, gaming, etc. MEDIACOM should be your last option.
