FIND ANOTHER PROVIDER. If you have auto pay set up make sure to specifically ask to have that turned off when you have your account canceled, otherwise they'll say it was your fault for not asking them to turn it off when you cancel your account!!! Canceled my account because I was moving but didn't get my auto pay canceled with everything else. I was over charged and when asked for a refund they told me it's not on my mediacom account yet but had no problem taking the money from my bank account. I was told I'd have to wait 3-4 weeks for the refund but it wasn't even my fault I was overcharged so why do I need to wait almost a month to get my money back? I was told it was my fault I was overcharged and I was supposed to specifically ask for my auto pay to be turned off along with my account. If my account gets canceled why do I have to ask for auto pay to be canceled too? You'd think it would be common sense for auto pay to automatically be canceled when an account gets closed or let your customers know they have to ask for it to be turned off. read more

When it works its great when it does not.. It's the biggest pain in the game.. An even bigger pain is when they try to fix it over the phone and they don't take notes that you have already talked to 4 - 6 different people with contradicting info on your account! Heck they even sent us to the office to change our modem.. We were giving one that our TECH said was pretty much obsolete! That's not cool! First tech came out and said when you need a new drop line... Few days later a 2nd tech came out and said no you don't need a new drop that person was an, "incompetent idiot!" Well he must know something cause he got us a new modem and got our internet back up and running in 40 minutes! This was after it has been out for almost 14 strait days after some maintenance Mediacom did to our building! So our last tech I give a 5 out of 5... The service and lack of communication and the first tech gets a 1 star.. We will round up to 2 cause its back working! read more

Mediacom customer service is the worst I've ever seen. They refused to help me after I had been charged twice for my wifi, and after calling customer service my problem was not resolved and the customer service employee had not helped in any way shape or form. After being charged twice for a service I didn't receive, I was told to solve the problem myself at my own bank. It has been over a week that my wifi still does not work, and I'm still out over $200, I would not recommend Mediacom to anyone that isn't a fan of headaches from dealing with awful customer service, terrible and inconsistent wifi speeds, and wasting money. read more

Had an appointment 3 24 21 between 3pm and 5pm the tech person said he called but he called the home phone which doesn't work when we don't have internet. So had to make another appointment to have the internet fixed this time between 10am and noon . So is mediacom person going to call the home phone again or the other number given to them read more

So you guys, this is what I'm dealing with. And of course the rep today, says the billing is correct. It's literally not. They are billing me for a bundle package, then billing me for a separate charge for the cable. And then also a partial month on top of that, for the cable additional charge. The previous balance and past due amounts are not correct either. In March of this year, I signed up on a bundle deal for $99.99 + modem, extra box, other fees and taxes, that brought the total to $143. This was for Internet 100 - Variety Cable (the family cable) - and phone. In May, they apparently, downgraded my service to basic local only channels, without ever asking me. I didn't notice that until August 2nd. I then called in and asked about it. And they said they "fixed" it but couldn't get it to reset on their end, after both internet and cable stopped working. Said they'd have a supervisor call me back. They never did and never planned to. I called back on August 4th. That person was more helpful. They tried to reset on their end, and it wouldn't work. So they sent a tech out, and he then couldn't fix it because the computer still stated basic cable. So I call them back, they say they changed it back to my original bundle. The one I signed up with in March. Order a tech to come out that week, will waive the Service Call Fees (obviously, they didn't, as they still charged me). Tech comes out, and it works again and then I get this bill today for $644. Mediacom is legit trying to rip me off!!!!! I'm waiting on a callback, but I doubt it will happen. It's so nice that y'all want to try and add charges and double charge people, especially during a pandemic. read more

I called Mediacom June 15, 2022 to cancel my service with Mediacom starting on July 14, because we are moving to FL. I was told my ending balance would be 51.83 and I could pay that anytime, even today. Almost immediately after getting off the phone, my internet was not working. So, I unplugged my modem, waited 30 sec, and plugged back in. It worked for less than an hour. I decided to leave it until the next day thinking that it could be an issue in the area. The next morning, when I had a video work call at 8 AM I had no internet. Immediately following my work call I called Mediacom. I was told my account had been suspended starting yesterday, even though the notes on my account stated July 14. So, Mediacom shut off my service 1 month early. I was on the phone with Mediacom for over 3 hours and spoke with 5 people. All said yes, your account was suspended, we are not sure why, we are trying to reactivate it. The last person said, it must be an equipment issue and I explained why that was impossible and she agreed. The best they could do was send a technician on June 23rd, in 1 week to try and fix it. One week with no internet and I need to work. After over 20 years as a customer that as the best they could do for their own mistake. I was so frustrated that I told them to cancel my service immediately. It is horrendous business practice what happened to me. Not taking accountability for their mistake and not trying to rectify it immediatley. But instead waiting 1 week to rectify it when I told all 5 people I needed it for work. Do not use Mediacom!! Have I heard others complain, yes. Have I have internet issues over the years and poor service, yes. But this was the absolute worst. DO NOT USE MEDIACOM. The don't care about their customers. Would your boss say its ok to wait a week to fix a problem??? No. read more

When I was a Mediacom customer, I thought the service pricey but otherwise no complaints. BUT when I cancelled service I was given three different payoff amounts that eventually resulted in a refund. Fast forward a year as I mistakenly sent an electronic payment to them, they can find my name, my address and my phone number but have no idea what happened to the 158.46 payment I CLAIM I don't owe and that they cant help me because my bank can't or won't provide me because of security, and I don't keep copies of Bill's for an account paid and closed over a year ago. I was just considering giving their internet another go, but that's so far out of the question now or EVER! I can't wait until the next person asks for my opinion on Mediacom; I'll be so happy to share. And Mediacom, I really hope you need that money more than I do since the customer service 'supervisor' made it sound like I wasn't likely to see it again. Though he really didn't sound like he really knew what he was doing and definitely didn't sound professional. (I guess, someone may be able to transfer to my extension, I don't know though, it's kind of a weird day... Perhaps they do have a process that looks at payments applied to inactive accounts and returns the money. I wont hold my breath though. read more

I paid $140 to have my internet hooked up with them, I had it ordered about 10am on the 26th of last month and they told me that the earliest that it could be installed is maybe the 7th, the representative I had was very unsure if anyone would be able to come or not, I live in a area where there is like 4 different technician sites are within 15 miles and they are making me wait nearly 2 weeks to thread a single coaxial cable and to enable it from their control panel online, at this point I should apply for a job, go though 6 interviews with them, go through their training and then hook it up myself and quit, I'm missing 2 weeks of work because of them being lazy and I'm honestly annoyed and already regret ordering them but I had no choice since they have a monopoly in my area read more

If I could give them a negative number I would. I had eight phone calls over five days. I finally canceled the entire system before it was installed. The first person lied to me about the cost and I only discovered it once I received the email with the order. The second person said my rate would go up if I added the features I was told they were included in the first price. To make a long story short my bill was going to be almost $50 more per month and the supervisor didn't care if the first person lied. She said if he quotes me wrong it wasn't the companies fault. I asked her to listen to the tape and she said it didn't matter. Go anywhere else but Mediacom. read more

We made our appointment with Mediacom many many weeks ago as we were buying our home. My wife works from home and her company has minimum requirements for her Internet. Our appointment was for this morning. They called this morning and said someone would be out this afternoon between 1 and 5. They called back about an hour later to say they couldn't come out until the 24th which is almost 2 weeks from now. The lady on the phone was very unapologetic and said there was nothing else she could do to try to work us in later in the week as this is Monday morning and we must have this done this week. I had my internet disconnected due to missed communication. I needed it for work. It took 10 minutes to disconnect, and apparently a 4 hour appointment is needed to undo this (which I'm sure is a gross over estimation). I work for a F500 company that is more flexible than that, so I'm sure that Mediacom could have found a way around this if they wanted. At this point, I'm loosing 4 days of work that I sorely needed, after paying over $700 to keep the service running. This is not acceptable. My family, as well as 2 other households belonging to our family will be moving as soon as the county cooperative gets to our area (I believe at some point this year, they are 5 miles away right now). This is costing me money and stress, and making your service not worth the large cost we paid. This decision by Mediacom will cost you thousands of dollars directly, as well as future business as I doubt I'll advocate for your company again, and will push others towards the cooperative. If you find a way to fix this before Monday, I'll take this down. If not, this review will stand, as will my decision to move services in the near future. read more

Metro net is offering fiber network here soon and I'm dumping Media com like the sack it is. I work from home and rely on the internet service however with MediaCom you don't know from day to day if you will have internet service unfortunately no other internet provider is in my area. I signed up for Mediacom, initial phone set up was great. We picked a 4 hour window for installation. On the day of the scheduled installation, I get a text saying they would be there at 1 PM. I wait until about 1:30, no one shows up. I call customer service and they said to disregard the text and someone would arrive would arrive by 4 and they would call ahead. I get a call from a private number, no one spoke when I answered. I called customer service immediately, as I was on the phone with customer service I get a text saying my apt has been rescheduled to 5-7 PM. She reassured me they were on their way and told me to disregard the email. I wait until 4, no one shows up so I call customer service again. This person then told me that no one was coming and had no idea why that other person told me someone was on their way. They rescheduled for the next week. The next week comes, I get an email 10 MINUTES before my apt saying it's been rescheduled. No call, no text, an email. I call customer service again to cancel all services, she assured me a technician would come from 8-8:30 PM that night to pick up the modem. Of course, no one shows up or calls so I had to contact them again. This time, I was told technicians don't pick up equipment and I would be mailed a return box. Also, refunds take 6-8 business WEEKS and they do not do receipts or confirm in any way that you've canceled services. Per the rep, I'll know that it's been canceled because I 'will stop receiving statements'. Reassuring. So long story short, save yourself the time and hassle and go with another company. Mediacom makes Comcast look amazing. Mediacom customer service reps literally make things up to get you off the phone. read more

I was driving in Windsor Heights this afternoon to a friends house to clear some of her downed branches and encountered a Mediacom technician working on 68th street. No signs indicating work in the area and I was already committed to the street. I noticed cones blocking the street entirely so I approached slowly. I got out to see where the work was happening as the house I needed was only a few up from his van. He was on a ladder working on someone's house, and I only know this because he shouted "NOPE! You're not moving my cones!" I explained I only needed to go a short way up the street and asked if I could replace his cone as soon as I drove through since he wasn't even in the street. His reply was equally unprofessional, shouting "NOPE! You're going to wait until I have completed my utility work!" I told him I understood and he had no reason to be so rude. This is exactly the kind of treatment that drove us to CenturyLink some time ago. MediaCom workers are among the most poorly trained public interface workers I have ever encountered. Fully aware he was probably working his butt off since the storm, yet absolutely no regard for speaking to someone respectfully or with regard to public perception. As long as there are other options, even more expensive ones, I will not give a dime to MediaCom. Never support a company that isn't able to properly train the most visible workers with respect to public interaction and common decency. read more

Mediacom sucks. I wish there was a zero star option. They have a monopoly across the state and use it to their full advantage. Their internet is slow and spotty. When you call the service line they are unhelpful. I've scheduled an appointment to have a tech come out and they haven't showed up. MULTIPLE TIMES. If they were the only option for cable or Internet in the area I would strongly consider a life without cable or internet. We bought the 1 gig service from Mediacom and consistently received 350 meg download speeds. A third of what we were paying to receive. Service would drop out at least once a week for a few hours. Finally got fed up and cancelled service. They told us they required a 30 day notice to cancel. We already have other service in place. The 30 day notice is simply a way to charge another month for bad service. Stay far away from this company. read more

Worst service I've ever had. They have a monopoly in the Ankeny area so there is no competition. Much downtime (usually around midnight), constant disconnects to my work VPN, so not reliable enough to work here (on of the reasons I moved). The price is terrible too, 100Mbps for $100/month in Des Moines. I get 1000Mbps for $75 in a population 25,000 town. read more

I called to have her cable canceled a month prior to her leaving assisted living. A technician was scheduled to come out to pick up the cable box and equipment on May 2nd because I live 3 hours away. No one ever showed up. I have 'scheduled' someone to come pick up the cable equipment every single day for the past 5 days. Every day I am told that they will send a technician out between 8-8 that day. But no one ever shows up. 5 days in a row. When I call each morning asking if the equipment has been picked up I am told that it has been rescheduled for 'today'. I'm sorry who keeps rescheduling it? What do I need to do to have someone literally spend 30 seconds to pick up the box from the office inside the assisted living facility?! This is beyond ridiculous. read more

Putting up this review just because our modem died a few days ago. The man we talked to when we called to report the problem was helpful. We were told it would take a week at most to get our modem replaced, and it ended up only taking two days. We were pretty impressed. A year ago I change my internet to a lower rate and now it has gone back up. I was led to believe that it would stay the same but it must have been a promotion. The person who helped me then understood I wanted to lower my rate on a permanent basis. Now not only will my rate be too high I have had a constant issue with this service going out sometimes for hours and sometime cuts in and out but now I will have to pay for a premium service that sometimes far from premium. We both work from home and I must have a good service for my independent inspection business. I am going to contact My senator and state representive to find out why these companies are allowed to be the only service available in specific neiberhoods, this sounds like A violation of fair trade and these companies providing services have allowed to monopolies to take advantage of customers in Delaware. Terrible experience. i had media com for about 3 weeks and my wifi was down or not working for at least 5 full days. No assistance from the media com support line. They couldn't even tell me if there was an outage in my area. Just kept telling me to unplug and plug the router back in. my biggest issue however is the companies blatant bait and switch technique. I signed up on there website and the installation fee was to be waived, however I spent 2 weeks arguing on the phone with employees about this. I only got results after threatening to report them to the BBB. After that they quickly waived the fee and assisted me in cancelling my services. Save yourself the countless hours I did on the phone and look elsewhere for wifi services. I don't think it can get any worse than this. read more

I had such wonderful service from Heather today. I think she's based in Florida. She is a wonderful asset to your company and very personable. She was able to tell me exactly what my billing was for and she also made sure to credit me what I was promised when Covid hit and I was told I had to leave my apartment to pick up my router and hook up stuff. They failed to tell me I would have to come pick it up and made me believe I would get it all from the tech coming to install. When he came he basically left right away because I had nothing. I waited a week for them to come set me up. I just want to say that after talking to heather today she took amazing care of me and I truly loved speaking with her. Had a tech scheduled to come from 1-3. I called at 2:26 PM and they said a tech would be here at 2:52 PM. I then get a call at 2:41 saying sorry they missed me and needed to reschedule. They then said someone would be there by 8 Pm. No one came. So thank you Mediacom for wasting my time from 1-8 PM for no reason. If I could give 0 stars I would.
