    Things WERE going fine, we were loyal customers for about 8 or 9 years. We had bi-monthly service…read morethat we signed up for back at the very beginning. They would come out every other month for a service, they'd send the bill for that, and we'd pay it. Well, our May 2026 bill went up quite a bit from what it had been. Also, they started doing some weird shit with AI, and the notes on the service report were all jumbled up with no proper grammar or punctuation, and saying we had a bunch of things done that we didn't have done, and said the things we did have done were all done in the attic, when none of them were done in the attic. We called to inquire about the big jump in price, and asked if it was a mistake due to the report saying we had all that stuff done that we did NOT have done. Nope. Just a price increase. "Everything is going up". Refused to believe us about the jumble of a report that was inaccurate, until we sent it to them (yeah, we had to send to them what they sent to us). Then they sort of apologized for that. One of them told us that a while back (they didn't say how far back), they changed their pricing and service structure. Said that their newer product lasts longer, and that they only come out every three months instead of every 2 months, and that they now just charge $49.99 per month automatically deducted from your payment account. They never bothered to tell us, their loyal customers, about that price change back when it happened. They just thought it would be cute to continue OVERCHARGING us and pocketing the excess I guess. Because that "new" price of $49.99 per month ends up being $8.50 per month LESS than what we've been paying for however long they've been doing this new pricing system. Yep, they just didn't bother to tell loyal customers about the new, CHEAPER cost of service, played us along for the fools we apparently were. So we decided to go ahead an pay our last bill, which was more than our last one, and then tell them to cancel our account, we didn't want to use them anymore. Of course their response was "well, bye, we don't give a fuck". Like we didn't already know they didn't give a fuck with the way they ripped us off for however long they were with their "new" prices.

    Last spring, and during a wasp issue at my house, Rise Pest Control came knocking on the door with…read morea "deal" that I probably knew better than to agree to, but did anyway..big mistake. They did eradicate the wasp nests (thank you) and came back twice in the summer and fall to do applications. I questioned them about the two winter outdoor pest applications and the only response I received was "it's part of your contract" ....(must have been for ice worms or snow spiders)... Anyway, contractually bound, I endured the BS. When I was going to put the pest control out to bid and requested to cancel the (fulfilled) Rise contract, I ran into a wall of bureaucracy not seen since the Nixon administration...("no, you can't cancel via email, phone call or letter, you must send a registered, certified letter their corporate headquarters in Utah) and also not within a 30 day period of when they have scheduled another application, or the letter is not valid. Anyway, I cancelled their ability to charge my credit card (which did catch their attention), required a written notice that upon payment of their final invoice, my contract would be cancelled...and...after 45 days of hassle for what was meant to be just a vendor honesty request for proposal, they agreed. BIG hassle for what should have been a simple transaction You might want to avoid these guys. As an aside, if you are a DIY'er, I have previously and now will be doing more business with a company called Domyown.com, who provide the products and guidance to do the pest control job at 25% of the cost of you-know-who. I've used domyown at my Clear Lake place or several years (spider and ant control) and am now looking forward to using them here in Ankeny.

    I thought I had mice in my house even though I never saw any actual mice. There were tiny droppings…read morein a few places. They basically signed me up for a very expensive contract before they even came out to inspect. Three days later, there are no mice in the traps because there are no mice. I realized after a creature kept digging up my indoor houseplants that it probably was a stray chipmunk! And then yesterday I saw him in a houseplant. I find it ridiculous that they were unable to ascertain that I had no mice. I'm pretty angry because i already paid about 500 bucks which they say they cannot refund. The technicians did patch some holes from the outside, which I'm happy to pay for. But I shouldn't have to pay for their inability to determine my problem which they are supposed to be experts in. Beware!

We are unable to pay the price of on-going pest control at this time. Though Zion put great effort into finding a solution which would serve us best. He made us feel comfortable as he explained what Aptive offers which may work for us. There was no pressure from him, only cogent descriptions of the plans available. He remained professional throughout. And his work ethic, unsurpassed. Our spider (etc.) inundations have vanished. We look forward to working with him in the future.     Had a young man show up on my door step wanting to enroll us in Aptive Pest Control. We already…read morehave a pest control service and are very happy. After a few minutes, I said that we are happy with our current service and wanted to end the conversation. The young man would not stop his sales pitch and insisted that our current service was inferior to Aptive Pest Control. I asked him to leave and he just continued talking about how their product is superior and we are making a mistake staying with our current service. After about the 7th time I asked him to leave, I finally told him that I would call the police. He still mocked my choice of pest control and then finally walked away. If this is how they treat their potential customers, I cannot image how they would treat their current customers.
