Last spring, and during a wasp issue at my house, Rise Pest Control came knocking on the door with a "deal" that I probably knew better than to agree to, but did anyway..big mistake. They did eradicate the wasp nests (thank you) and came back twice in the summer and fall to do applications. I questioned them about the two winter outdoor pest applications and the only response I received was "it's part of your contract" ....(must have been for ice worms or snow spiders)... Anyway, contractually bound, I endured the BS. When I was going to put the pest control out to bid and requested to cancel the (fulfilled) Rise contract, I ran into a wall of bureaucracy not seen since the Nixon administration...("no, you can't cancel via email, phone call or letter, you must send a registered, certified letter their corporate headquarters in Utah) and also not within a 30 day period of when they have scheduled another application, or the letter is not valid. Anyway, I cancelled their ability to charge my credit card (which did catch their attention), required a written notice that upon payment of their final invoice, my contract would be cancelled...and...after 45 days of hassle for what was meant to be just a vendor honesty request for proposal, they agreed. BIG hassle for what should have been a simple transaction You might want to avoid these guys. As an aside, if you are a DIY'er, I have previously and now will be doing more business with a company called Domyown.com, who provide the products and guidance to do the pest control job at 25% of the cost of you-know-who. I've used domyown at my Clear Lake place or several years (spider and ant control) and am now looking forward to using them here in Ankeny. read more

I thought I had mice in my house even though I never saw any actual mice. There were tiny droppings in a few places. They basically signed me up for a very expensive contract before they even came out to inspect. Three days later, there are no mice in the traps because there are no mice. I realized after a creature kept digging up my indoor houseplants that it probably was a stray chipmunk! And then yesterday I saw him in a houseplant. I find it ridiculous that they were unable to ascertain that I had no mice. I'm pretty angry because i already paid about 500 bucks which they say they cannot refund. The technicians did patch some holes from the outside, which I'm happy to pay for. But I shouldn't have to pay for their inability to determine my problem which they are supposed to be experts in. I was sold a program and told by the sales person that it included pest control and rodent bait. The first time out the technician told me that Rodent was not included in my plan. I told him what I was told by sales and he installed bait boxes and said he would put a note in the file so they would be serviced going forward. Going forward, I have been told I do not have the rodent program and need to sign up for it for them to service. They even told me that bait boxes should not be on my property if I don't have the rodent service. So they violated their own policy. A true bait and switch tactic. read more

I have five do not solicit signs on my property, and I am on the do Not knock list, I also have a doorbell the size of Gibraltar however, I still get solicitors coming to my door ignoring all five signs and not ringing my doorbell, just knocking on my door, luckily I also have seven motion detectors that tells me when somebody's creeping outside my house. Had Rise Pest control come to my house today trying to sell me their product and even knowledged that they saw the sign and still proceeded to bother me, didn't ring my doorbell and just pounded on my door frame? Then still tried to sell me their toxic shit even after I told him to get off my property! I posted this on Nextdoor and found out they have been harassing people for over a week now in our neighborhood. read more

I called these people out to my house first week of August 2024 the guy that came out sprayed some powder stuff where the wasp is, and I say is because there still there, the guy said give them about 10 days AND IF THERE NOT GONE CALL ME I WILL COME BACK OUT TO REPAY SINCE YOU PAID 208.00, I SAID OK, I texted rhe Young man and told him the wasp are still by the back door and I've been stung once, I didn't want them to sting my dog, he said give it a couple more days so I did and now we are almost a month since he spray and rhe wasp are still flying around by my back door I texted the young man that came out and I sent him several videos showing the wasp are still in the same spot that they were when he sprayed, I do believe the young wanted to help me but the company told him she paid for one treatment she will have to pay again, well there so called powder didn't work and evidently they new that and just wanted more money this place is a rip off and I'm taking them to court, I don't have money to give away, why tell the customers that you will come back out if needed, then change up and say you have to pay again when they didn't get rid of them the first time, DO NOT MESS WITH THIS PLACE THERE PRODUCT DOESNT WORK AND THERE RIPPEN PEOPLE OFF, but I'm not letting them get away with screwing me over that's for sure,you have to give a star to post, but they don't deserve that.. read more

I had Rise before Greenix bought them out. I loved Rise, good service and they always emailed me personalized "what we did" emails. Greenix comes along, I have just as many bugs in and around my house as I did before hiring pest control professionals. They came out on a service call for me to treat for spiders and wasps. There were 2 huge webs on my deck and one on my garage that were still there with spiders right in the middle even though they said they swept up webs and wasp nests. The techs always are overly pushy about getting reviews, one even told my wife he will come again to finish taking care of the wasps if we give him a good review. I don't pay money for a service that isn't completed unless I leave a review. So I will be terminating my account with them. read more

Don't be sold on the "discounted" price. When you sign up, you are signing up to pay for all 5 treatments. Even if you no longer wish to use the service. They charge a 50% fee for the remaining treatments if you want to cancel. I would do business with a company a little less shady. read more

Do not use this company - they are a racket. We moved from our house in Minnesota to Iowa and I could not communicate with them that we had left. At our place in Iowa we have no problems with pests and wanted to cancel and of course we are in a different state they will charge us a penalty for quitting service. I have had a very good experience with Rise since signing up for their service over the summer. They treat your entire house, inside and out. Best thing is they wipe away all webs and debris that attracts insects and also looks better. Manuel M. Also when they did the inside he just walked around and sprayed in front of my furniture which will be cleaned and not baseboards or windows. Plus the guy who came out the second time was a little rude and just up and walked away instead of talking without doing any service whatsoever. They would not refund my money for a joke of Service. We had terrible service. The salesman was very nice..the guy that treated our house was horrible! He was here less than 10 minutes and left. He did not spray the inside of the house and noted that we didn't want the inside done. I called to complain, and was told we would get a callback with a new appointment. The guy showed up without an appointment. We were just getting home. He sprayed the inside, leaving puddles in a doorway. The next day, we noticed 3 dead spots on our yard, in a row, directly on the way to where he parked. Without looking, Rise Pest control is claiming we have "fungus". Excellent customer service!! True professionals! The technicians are super helpful and very knowledgeable. Jon H. was very friendly and personable on the last service call I received. He inquired as to any problems/activity I was concerned with, and he even left me a couple extra glue traps should I need them during the transition from warm to cold weather. The price is very reasonable, especially due to the fact that you can call ANY time and as MANY times as you need to in between scheduled service appointments if you're still getting unwanted activity. DON'T under any circumstances do it!! The sprinkle of good reviews must be family or friends. Signed up for the one year regular pest control contract and later discovered I was being charged an additional 50 bucks a month for rodent service I did not sign for. The rodent service required a black box that sits out side of your home which they didn't even place to at least ATTEMPT to give me what I didn't agree to pay for. That happened within the first few months of services and left a bad taste. Moving forward, today I discovered that we have 2 months of services that were forwarded to a debt collection agency!?! We are on autopay so how?! I called and was told "oops not sure why the card on file wasn't being charged" so I immediately was transferred to a manager because I wanted to close out my account. The manager basically said so what?! You have to honor the contract. No apologies for putting my credit at jeopardy NOTHING. Luckily I only have one month left in the contract and I'm canceling ASAP. This company claims to be better since they bought out RISE pest control but it's the same predatory, money hungry, sub par service that we should all come to expect from these type of franchises. Next year I'm going with a small, honest, local company. IGNORE all the fake, delusional reviews. This company is just as shady as your gut is telling you they are! read more

Before writing this review, I read through a few of the previous ones on this site. Sounds very familiar. Not exactly that 4.9 star rating that they touted. Nearing the end of my year of service and could not be anymore dissatisfied with this company. As others have noted, scheduling is a hassle, the actual pest control is sub par, and all around not worth the quarterly $150 for this 5 minute service. As a rule they don't typically come inside unless asked. They show up, spend more than half of those 5 minutes sitting in their van, "dust" the eves with a pole, and back to the van to send out the completion text. Definitely not worthy of the $150 that I was then charged. Might as well have handed my money over to the ants themselves as they weren't the least bit dead. read more

Rise provided me with poor customer service, and were entirely inflexible. The service provided really was not all that effective, ants kept coming and I was constantly supplementing there work with my own terro treatments. Not exactly what I paid for. I then moved, and wanted to cancel, not based on the treatments be only somewhat helpful, but because we upgraded to a larger home. Despite my pleas to not have to pay a 100$ cancellation, and this concern going to a manager, they ABSOLUTELY refused to let me out of this. To me, that is terrible care to the customer. I would recommend others seek other companies, such as preferred pest control, instead of RISE pest. read more

Honestly, had them for a couple years and they didn't do anything. We have wasps, "well we don't do that." We have bugs coming from under the deck, "well we don't do crawl spaces." OK, give me the spray gun (that's supposed to be for everything) and I'll do it, "we can do that." OK well I want to cancel, "oh, you have to hand write a letter to be deliver by horse and carriage." (Ok, mail...but you get it) Canceled the damn card they were using to charge me (for nothing) after asking 4 times to stop, and they got the picture. Techs they send are awesome, whoever the Execs are are absolute morons (PS, your techs know it, too) who have no clue what they're doing. Don't even look at them. Signed up for a 1 year, 4 visit service they turned into 5 in the email contract. Each visit required a "separate" fee even though the contract was for a set amount. Final amount was 125%. They tried to "renew" a non-renewable contract without our consent. I contacted to verify cancellation 3 times in email, once in writing, once by phone, and once when a tech actually still came out to the house. They still have us down for ongoing service. Joke of a company. They pressured me into signing up for service for a year, each visit in 3 month increment has left me feeling like I was gypped. Its super expensive and the tech just brushes the downspouts says to call back if there are any issues. I gave a 2 star review because the latest tech although quick, have always been nice. The first tech sent out I had to remind to spray in multiple places. He was like "oh yeah, I forgot". Made me feel like he was rushing to just be done. The biggest problem I have is they say "just call if you need anything in between scheduled services". Problem is, they coincidently never have time to come out. I recently had a bad ant issue, I called to have them come back, told me it would be 2 weeks away. Since then they have called and left messages to reschedule multiple times. I spend 5-10 minutes each time on the phone and they end up saying "I can't find a time, I'll send this to another team to get back to you." I've just counted 8 separate phone calls for this one service and have yet to have anyone come out. I'm fairly young so I can take care of my own lawn but if I were elderly or disabled and I had a major issue relying on them just to say "we'll be there in a month"!?!? Those rats and ants cant wait right!? NO thanks! If you are even mildly able to do these things yourself, do it. Save your money, its not worth the headache. read more
