MCC was dispatched by my home warranty company to investigate a coolant leak in my compressor coil. I knew the compressor coil was leaking because I had already paid a major Austin HVAC company to rush out to investigate first in the hope there was a quick fix. Once it was clear the compressor needed to be replaced, I went back to the warranty company so they could verify and order the replacement. I told the MCC technician what I knew, but flat out refused to check for the leak. He claimed he did a "visual inspection" and didn't see evidence of a leak. When I told him the major HVAC company had already verified using an electronic leak detector, he claimed they were lying and that electronic leak detectors don't work on R-410A! Unbelievable. I told the warranty company what happened, they assigned a different company, and of course that company found the leak - with an electronic leak detector. The tech that came to our house was totally dishonest. I don't even understand why he would lie so brazenly when it was clear I knew he was lying and that I would get someone else to confirm it. read more

He answered my questions and was respectful. I 100% recommend this outfit for your A/C repairs, upgrade, and services. He was honest about the different A/C units when I had to pick one. Note: This review is for service completed by MCC via a home warranty service order (in May of 2018). I can't speak for normal service with clients they actually care about. We had an emergency repair request through our warranty company for our AC unit. The technician came out, tried the obvious candidates, and officially diagnosed the problem as the low voltage wire. We were told he would need approval from our warranty company to replace it, and he'd reschedule once they granted said approval. Ok, sounds normal, right? Well, the technician then turned around and told the warranty company that the wire had been chewed by mice. None of this was communicated to me until day 3 without AC (in TEXAS SUMMER, y'all), when I had to call the warranty company back for confirmation. Needless to say, warranty company denied service and refused to accept my complaint about the guy lying about the damage. So we hired a decent, competent human being to come fix the wire (and he confirmed no pest damage, FYI, which we already knew). There goes $500 I shouldn't have had to spend b/c the MCC repair guy didn't want to do the work and clearly had no problem leaving us in a 90+ degree house. It's one thing to be lazy, guys, it's another to be inexplicably inhumane... If your warranty company assigns these guys to you, GET OUT OF IT. Do whatever it takes to get them to reassign your order to literally any other service provider. If the work is even remotely difficult, they will lie and make you pay for it. read more

MCC is fantastic! After many years of service of all my investment and personal properties I can say they can solve even difficult problems quickly and for a reasonable price. I trust their professional service- if a system can be fixed, they can do it. They have kept 30 year old systems running smoothly and efficiently. They have replaced old systems with better ones reducing my electric bills and quality of my cooling in the hot Texas summers. MCC provides excellent customer service, never leaving me or my renters without climate control. I trust them so much that I often just text the address of the AC issue and leave a key. They can also replace electric water heaters, dishwashers and more. I'm so lucky we found MCC-- in the yellow pages if that tells you how long we've used them! Lol read more

This guy came out when my home warranty company assigned our claim to him. He showed up, claimed to test the system, and then proceeded to tell me that nothing was wrong and I just needed more insulation in the attic. This is of course after our AC stopped cooling our house to 70 degrees and wouldn't cool it below 76... So we called another service guy, paid a separate fee, and what do you know...our freon was 2lbs low. That guy topped us off...and boom, the AC is throwing ice cubes again. And our new service guy is checking back on Monday to make sure it's not just low, but also to check for leaks and a bad compressor. Never use these guys. Never use this business for any AC work! Mechanical Climate Control was referred to me by Sears for a Home Warranty Claim. Sears Home Warranty (also one star) passed labor charges, exceeding $1,200, which MCC calls an access fee, to me (this access fee is transporting the parts to and from the truck and holding a ladder.) What is worse, is MCC upped the charges significantly during the repair from a first estimate of $300. The fees and the fee changes were bad enough, but the poor phone service, delays, time I spent waiting at my house, slow parts ordering, and gaps between visits were, in my opinion, we both poor service and unprofessional. As of writing this, the repair has not been completed after a few weeks. I recommend never using this business for any AC repair and also, if you are unfortunate enough to have them assigned to via your home warranty company, ask for someone else before even spending the deductible to have them come out. read more

MCC came out in the middle of the 2021 texas snowstorm and fixed our heating unit when my family and I desperately needed heat. Alex drove through hazardous road conditions, arrived on time, knew exactly how to diagnose the problem, and even drove to a nearby repair shop to purchase the part we needed. He had our heating unit running in under an hour. MCC is experienced and exceptional at both diagnosing and repair. MCC worked with our home owners insurance to make the process seamless. They come to ny house, track mud in, and then have no idea how to operate my ecobee thermostat. They then ask me to operate it for them and tell me to change a setting to one that the manual specifically warns against. When I show them this, they just leave and do nothing. They also complained that my house has two systems and I only made one warranty claim. All I did was call my warranty company to tell them my house wasn't heating. Fred was sent out by my home warranty company to provide a second opinion on an issue with my microwave. The first fellow who had come to my house to provide a diagnosis of my microwave stated the microwave was no longer functioning b/c there was a small place on the interior where the interior paint was worn. I was suspicious and felt his diagnosis was incorrect. Fred verified my concerns were valid and was able to find a fuse which had been blown. As a result of Fred's time and knowledge, I was able to get an honest diagnosis for my warranty company and will most likely have my microwave replaced which saved me hundreds of dollars. Fred has come thru on 3 of my A/C repair trips. Since I have multiple A/C units and multiple houses, I have used him multiple times over the past two years. He is very flexible i.e. visit's late evenings, weekends during A/C emergencies. Great and immediate service! He is very nice and explained everything to me that I asked. He fixes everything at a very reasonable cost. I will use him for any HVAC issues. He is very honest. On the last trip, the compressor was not turning on. He checked all the connections, compressor turned on which fixed the issue. He did not charge for anything other than trip cost. read more

For the first time my home warranty assigned this provider for my service issue, although had previously assigned 3 different HVAC services for previous problems. This is the very first review I've ever written. Was contacted within hours of placing my request and was told 1st available was between 11a-1p next day. Fred showed just minutes after 11a. Obviously very experienced, very methodical, comprehensive, explained to me in layman's terms what the problems were. Replaced a blown capacitor, added freon, but continued to search for other issues. Extremely satisfied with MCC's service and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. read more

We were referred to Mechanical Climate Control by Sears home warranty to schedule follow up appointment to repair a washing machine, called and the respondent seem to be irritated to be called said they do not take calls on weekends, called again Monday morning, the responding person after taking the information said he will get back to us before noon, never did. Called back in late afternoon, the respondent told me to call sears and tell them that they will not come to service us in an extremely ugly and unprofessional manner. I strongly recommend against dealing with this outfit. read more
