Ivan was the lead mover and he and his crew were exceptional. They moved quickly and efficiently and were extremely professional. We used a different mover once and the difference was night and day. Would give 0 stars if possible. We used Meathead Movers on 4/4/17. Our house was completely packed up. My husband has already relocated out of state and wanted to make sure I had help moving the big items from our home. We only used them on big heavy items so they quoted a 3 hour time frame $138 per hour. The rep Tyler that came out before move to give quote was very nice and told me it would be very easy to do since we only have big items. He assured me that team could take apart bed and dining table. He also suggested that I could use my own trailer to cut cost since storage unit was right down the street. I was thinking cool totally worth it. Had the move gone like the expectation that was portrayed then it would have been great. Day of move- Michael-mentor and Christian-meathead showed up on time at 10am. That was the only good thing of whole move. I walked them through what items were being moved and they gave me a weird look when I showed them the items to take apart. They claim they were not told to bring tools. My husband was told during first phone call that all teams carried tools. Instead of them trying to problem solve I had to have a friend bring his tools(mine were packed). Took them 1 1/2 hours to wrap furniture. My friend has to take apart the bed and table since movers were very slow. Saw no hustle at all just talking. My husband called and spoke to Nick who called team to get them moving faster. After call they had attitude with me. After first trip to storage at 12:40 Michael came and told me they needed to take a lunch and would be back after. I only set aside the 3 hours until 1:00. I was never told that my apt was during their lunch. I told them to load the rest and let them go since it was more headache then waiting. My friend and I unloaded rest of stuff. They left trash from mattress bags on the ground in bedroom and threw the other bag in my hamper in the garage. One of my couches armrest was scuffed when moved. I'm scared to unwrap the rest to see what else is scratched. They took off one hour off total but I do not feel it was enough for all the work I had to do. What's the point in hiring a company to do the work for them? I understand this is one experience and many people have had good but everything should be as consistent as possible. read more

EDIT - I would like to reiterate that I cannot prove that the fraudulent purchase was made by a Meathead Mover-- my review regarding the credit card fraud is speculation. I appreciate Allison (the quality assurance manager) taking the time to reach out to me and her cooperation; she had her IT department look into the matter to see if any purchases had been made through a Meathead Mover computer and they did not find anything. Again, I cannot prove Meathead Movers' involvement in the fraudulent purchase. All in all and completely apart from the fraudulent charge speculation, I am still not satisfied with Meathead Movers for the following reasons: 1) they showed up an hour and 45 minutes late and then we subsequently had to wait another 45 minutes after the move was completed to pay as I guess none of the team members onsite for the move could go over the paperwork with us (they did attempt to remedy this situation with a 45 minute discount, but my time is just as important as there time and 2 and a half hours of waiting around for them is unacceptable). 2) the sales rep makes it seem like they can get the move done in 3 hours and when it does not get done in 3 hours and you complain about how long it took, they will tell you that 3 hours is not a quote and they did not exceed the 8 hour limit, and thus they saved you a bunch of money. Additionally, they will tell you that you signed a contract before hand and 3 hours is "not an actual quote." That all may be true, but that is not great customer service when dealing with a frustrated customer. I am changing my review from a 1 start to a 2 star as the movers did get everything to our apartment in one-piece, and I additionally appreciate Allison reaching out to me. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I am convinced that Meathead Movers do not know how to handle customers' credit card information. Back story - in order to pay, a Meathead Mover needs to write down your credit card information (which is understandable, but in this day in age, they probably should invest in mobile electronic credit card readers).  The day after my credit card information was written down on a piece of paper by a Meathead Mover coordinator, I get a call from Meathead Movers asking for the expiration date of my credit card again as what was written on the paper was incorrect (side note, my bank notified me that the first time Meathead Movers tried to run my card it was declined because they did not have the correct expiration date, but the payment went through when they entered the correct expiration date that was given to them over the phone).  It is very suspicious and way too coincidental that this morning my bank flags and declines a fraudulent charge made online - the reason that this charge was flagged and declined was because the expiration date the person entered was incorrect.  I am convinced that the piece of paper that had my credit card information written on it was mishandled by Meathead Movers; I believe someone either threw it away, or one of their employees is untrustworthy.  I called Meathead Movers this morning to figure out what their processes are for handling customers' credit card information, and I am currently waiting to hear back.  Needless to say, I am very unhappy and have to close said credit card as someone out there has my personal credit card information. read more

Most disappointing and most distressful experience. Scheduled a move several weeks in advance,many conversations with coordinators.Morning of move I called to confirm. called again to confirm,.two subsequent calls..last one at 11:20 am when movers didn't arrive a scheduled time (11am). Movers arrived at 11:35 and said they couldn't do move because of air quality. This treatment is unacceptable. Movers said they "just got the call" Why was I not called? Why was this matter not addressed during my three previous calls? When someone finally called me it was always "on behalf of someone else" a method used to avoid an responsibility, depending that I will not be angry with "just the messenger". My grandma is moving out of her apartment and wanted to use a moving company and she decided to go with Meathead Movers + Princes Packers because they were the only ones on Yelp to have five star rating. Our Princess Packers were Kristen Garcia and Karina Velasquez who came to get the job done, they knew my grandma only had 4 hours so they really used every minute to successfully pack everything that needed to be packed. DISASTER!! MEATHEAD DOES NOT HONOR THEIR INSURANCE CLAIMS!!! TODAY I'M HEADED OUT TO FILE A LAWSUIT IN SMALL CLAIMS. During a move, Meathead employees severely damaged a teak library unit with an original cost of $16,000. But, I thought "No, worries, I bought their REPLACEMENT VALUE insurance." 9/26 (Day 1): I contacted them, provided the claim form and photos and was referred to their concierge service to help me find a place for repairs. The concierge was a joke. They gave me a list of 3 places. #1 was a company that only did business by email--no physical address or phone number. #2 was a furniiture upholsterer that did "refinishing on the side." (Oh sure, I'll hand over my gorgeous library to a guy who specializes in upholstery.) The third company said "we won't do business with Meathead Movers." I called the rep at Meathead to complain. He said "go get a bid." (At this point I requested an insurance adjuster -- which was declined). I started researching companies qualified to do restoration on a high-end piece of furniture. What I found out is that quality companies charge to come to an estimate (otherwise they'd be wasting their time giving out estimates instead of working.) I called Meathead back to tell them this and the guy said "my supervisor said he needs one bid." So, because they would not pay for a bid, I paid $150 for a restorer to come look at it. The quote was nearly $10,000! So, after a couple of weeks the rep told me the boss wants 3 bids! After a couple of weeks, I get a call from the concierge service with some companies to contact. Most of them did not have websites or photos of work to look at. Mostly, they were a bunch of handymen who do minor work and non specializing in restoration of fine furniture. I complained to the rep. It took him 10 days but he came up with a few more companies. I finally was able to obtain another estimate without paying them to come out -- the company looked great and their bid was substantially less. I sent them the bid with the caveat that if the damage is worse than the bid, there may be a revision. I sent that bid to them on 11/15. 12/1 (Day 66 with NO RESPONSE): Two more weeks have passed and I still have no answers. After countless email conversations, telephone calls and the usual canned response "I apologize for the delay ... I realize you are upset ... and blah blah blah," I'm on my way to small claims court. Thank goodness I'm allowed to sue for an amount sufficient to cover the repair. Please note: This is an abbreviated version that hits the high points only. There is a lot more to the story. Most expensive movers for a crappy experience. The sales person bait and switch. They make you list every single item to move and if you miss one they won't move it until they call a manager. Yet the sales person said it's ok if you are off. If you list 20 boxes but have 21 boxes, they won't move the one extra box without calling a manager to increase the price. But if you over list, it's ok, they will still charge you for it. The whole company is a scam. It's 298/hr for 3 movers. If you want to over pay, this is your company. read more

I did not care for this company. The inside sales team was the issue. I got MULTIPLE calls on Sunday afternoon to confirm and I found the main person I was working with to be overly chipper and disingenuous. The movers and packers themselves were great but the inside sales and customer service was not. They were early for the move and again multiple calls to let me know on the day of the move, as if that is not stressful enough. Also, the moving team left many supplies in the place I was moving out of and I had to try to set up some one to come get them and ended up having to move and dispose of them myself because they could not accommodate in my time frame. Damaged my old house and the new house.Failed to move our fridge into the new house. Bullied my pregnant wife by threatening to draw out the damage claim if she didn't accept a low ball offer then and there for the drywall damage. Gave me the run around for several hours when I tried to call them. Charged over double the quoted amount and then called us liars when we called them out on it and claimed to have a recorded phone call. Denied to provide the call recording so we could prove that they quoted a lower amount. Luckily Visa stood behind us and we were able to get a refund despite them trying to claim them never promised to put items in the house or to not damage either house. TL;DR: STEER CLEAR, scumbag moving company acts like scumbags. _____________________________________________________ 1/27 Update: This shady company had the nerve to run my credit card again after my credit card company credited me for the damage and failure to deliver services. I've now had to cancel my CC and get a new number issued because they violated the Visa card processor agreement. These guys are great. I have used them on multiple occasions for moving commercial office spaces. They have shown up on time and ready to work. Most recently they made short work of what I thought would have taken several hours. The team knew my time constraints and were moving at full speed in order to make the deadline. The night prior to my move I was able to add additional team members when I found the job was bigger than I originally anticipated. I will not hesitate to call upon them in the future. read more

My wife and I believe in Meathead Movers & Princess Packer for the help they give to victims of domestic violence. With that being said I'll say how disappointed I am with their services, Adam was sick and changed our appointment till the next day, was told by Adam they put floor protection down and us having bamboo floors that would be awesome, they only put a 10 foot piece of ram board by the front door, then set the couch on it, I walked in the master bedroom and one of the guys moved a night stand off the pads and gouged 5 planks of bamboo, the office took $220.00 off the bill and told the guys to protect the next house. The truck shows up 1/2 hour early and the place pads and ram board out, they managed to to hit the wall on the stairs case landing just on top of the ram board and just below it, the wall and banister. And I just noticed outside on the column by the front door a dent in the stucco, caused by the hand truck. The bed frame wasn't Assembled properly Abraham and Susie from Princess Packers boxed up everything, I told them water & soda in the fridge, help yourself, at the new house I'm unpacking boxes and I come across a Ritter sport chocolate bar that was opened, and a bite taken out of it and placed in the box and sealed up, I'm more upset by this than the damage to the floor and walls, I expected some damage but to open a candy bar take a bite and pack it in a box where you know I going to find it. I must say, Fernando and his crew were able to take a sticky situation and turn it around. They worked non stop and did a great job of packing up my Mom's entire life! Lots O' stuff for sure! Fernando was very professional as were his guys. You guys knocked it out of the park! When Pedro and his crew showed up on moving day they were just as awesome! They were soooo careful with all the furniture, they were professionals, worked hard, had a great time and even made me laugh under the circumstances this was a very difficult day for me but they made it so much easier. My move was Dec.22, 2017. The company states items are not required to be removed from dressers or nightstands. Well, items were missing from my nightstand after the move. After contacting Meathead, I was told it was a case of "he said, she said". Seriously? That's your professional position? Santa Cruz ....." and went to their webpage & started a chat to let them know that I wanted a quote to move from one location in SC [Santa Cruz] to another ....and what I wanted moved. One of the questions from the chatter was that he had re-read my message & "was I moved from South Carolina?" and then I asked where he was located? Reply was: "our main office is in San Luis Obispo and we have offices in Southern Calif. I'm afraid we won't be able to do a local move in Santa Cruz..." This review is so long overdue! My move from CA to NV ---including my piano--- was flawless with Meathead Movers. I mean...flawless. Nothing broken, nothing lost, no nonsense, no creepy movers, no overpromising. I had 2 weeks to get this done from decision to delivery. Princess Packers came one Saturday and packed me up...like a whirlwind of efficiency! Then the following Saturday, Ivan A., Gustavo A., and Alexis V. took it all away and I met them at my new home in NV on Sunday. The truck only had my stuff on it (amazing and unusual) and they literally went from my place in CA to my home in NV overnight. Happy Ending. Carlos & Michael from the OC branch helped us move most of our home into a storage unit after a fire took place. Being very meticulous, I've never used movers before. Jordan and Suzanne did a wonderful job packing up our amazing amount of stuff, were very friendly and hard working! The movers, Joel and Spencer worked very hard to get everything on the truck in 3 hours! They were also very friendly, professional and accommodating. Worst moving experience you'll ever have. To keep my nightmare simple, the movers Meathead had sent were extremely lazy, unapologetic of damaging my things. If you do use this service, take my advice and avoid working with Juan A. and Richard L. (an 'apprentice' of theirs that they'd sent who seemingly never moved furniture before) for these reasons: -They'd damaged a very expensive aquarium, cracking the glass corner and breaking the upper light support bar. Rather than being apologetic or even understanding, the teenage movers became angry and bad-tempered when they had to call their boss and reporting it. After filing a claim, the insurance team said they'd reach out to me and discuss the damage and payment but I'd never heard back from them. I feel like they stole my money. -Crushed a delicate ornament to total loss. -They each took two long bathroom breaks -- one at my old place, and one at the new, each. I'd understand if they weren't feeling well but, in that case, I shouldn't be staffed with sick movers, unable to do their job to the best they should be. -I'd circled the corner a few times to find them relaxing, hanging out on their phones. Wow. Mike and Javier were fantastic! Great guys to represent your company. Super quick, had a min. of 4 hours, they hustled and really outdid themselves! 2 1/2 hrs. I have no problem paying for the minimum time and can only hope that these men are paid for min. 4 hours since that is what I paid. They didn't try to take longer, worked their butts off! And they would have worked just as hard even if the time took longer! Careful, polite, can't say enough. While the move was easy to book, the actual move was far more trying. At the rate of $169 per hour, only 2 movers arrived to move an entire 4 bedroom home. We were originally told the move would take no longer than 4 hours. It actually took 8 hours, on an hourly rate. The "lead" mover only managed, so nearly 80% of the move was done by 1 person. Very slow.. again, at an hourly rate. One mover broke 2 large glass vases. The fix was a $ amount taken off the bill. However, it seemed like the movers worked slower in order to make-up the credit on the bill. All in all, we will not be using Meathead again. Two guys and a truck (from Craigslist) or handy men from Home Depot are just as equipped, and a whole lot cheaper! read more

I'm a little surprised by the high praise for these guys. The movers certainly were nice and polite, but I don't think that's the most important part of having your stuff moved. We have used another very professional company in the recent past, so I think I have a pretty good idea of how things are supposed to go. This time an acquaintance was moving a donated fridge a short distance and I was to accept the delivery. Since he paid for the move, he chose the movers. When they arrived they were polite and wanted to see what the job entailed on this end. They seemed disappointed that the refrigerator doors would likely have to come of to get it in the designated space, but proceeded to the truck to retrieve the fridge. Upon getting it inside they removed the blanket and protective plastic from outside. After a failed attempt to get it through the doorway they attempted to remove the refrigerator doors, but discovered they did not have the proper tool on their truck. Fortunately, a neighbor was able to quickly provide the tool and the move continued. Unfortunately, the floor where they were trying to put it was a newly- installed ceramic tile floor. Although a temporary transition block had been put in to prevent damage to the new floor, when they made the transition they chipped a very tiny piece from the edge of the new tile. Since they did not point that out, I have no idea whether or not they even knew they did it, but I would hope they would have been honest about it if they did know. They plugged it in and reinstalled the doors, only to discover that they had removed the door handles and left them at the address when they had picked up the refrigerator! Instead of offering to go pick them up they asked if we would be able to get them and showed us how to put them back on. Nice guys, clean-cut, strong and eager to please, but not nearly as well-trained as the crews I've been used to. Not having all the necessary tools was also a new experience for me. I know my usual guys would have cost more, but for a very small job they seemed to have a lot of problems. read more

RIP OFFS!!! Seriously overcharged me. I'm furious with this company. They quote me an hourly rate, but the invoice was much higher. They promised they would not charge me until the issue was resolved. They charged me $479.00 to move 1 bedroom less than 6 miles away. I was charged for their crew to change men in the middle of the move and then they got lost over an hour to the new location because someone at their headquarters wrote the wrong address on their order form. I'm outraged that they charged my account after promising me they would not charge me until we figured out the hourly rate I was charged. I have never had to pay this much. And for such a small move -- outrageous!! And they broke my dresser! I called them to follow-up was put on hold, asked to hold longer, put on hold again and then disconnected. I called back and was put on hold and then told that Mark would call me back - he did not call me back. I called back the next morning and was put on hold again. The best moving experience in my life. They were able to accommodate my move on a very short notice - I called on a Monday and they were able to move me that Friday. Customer service was friendly very accommodating; I had to move from an apartment and storage containers into a house and it was not a problem. The young men that moved me were polite, concise and efficient. They were very careful with all of my belongings and were diligent to make sure everything was exactly where I wanted it. And they were FAST; They started at 11am and were finished before 2pm including a 30 minute drive to my new home. They were also very conscious of the COVID 19 guidelines; everything was explained to me when I scheduled them AND when they confirmed the day before and the movers followed those guidelines to a tee. I have no plans to move again in my lifetime, but if I do I will only work with Meathead movers. read more
