Great response time on when I requested a quote online. Every single person I talked to on the phone was wonderful. Moving day came and the crew was early and they got to work right away. There were a few hiccups as they were packing, but as a team they were able to work around it. However one hiccup during the first stage was the removal of the gun safe. I was told on the phone with the sales department that the team would be able to unbolt our safe from the ground. That was not what I was told in-person. They were prompt to get on the phone with their manager and were told they could unbolt the safe if they had the tools. The tools they had but not the proper size so I asked my next door neighbor to borrow his tools and that was what saved the day. Finally arrive at the final destination, everything was going great. But there was an incident involving one of our TVs and it ended up getting damaged :( however a day later and MeatHead movers were on it getting my claim submitted and approved for a new TV. In the end, I will be honest, this wouldn't be the first company I suggest for moving BUT they wouldn't be the last. Overall experience was good. read more

I moved all my belongings into storage 4 years ago. Paid premium price but decided it was worth it as packing crew was excellent. Moving blankets are rented and refund provided when blankets reurned After my move in December '25 I called them re how to return blankets I was given an address. Office was closed and I was instructed to leave them by the bins. With great difficulty I removed 50 blankets from my car as there was no one to help me as the office was closed I have made numerous calls since February re my refund. The young men answering the phone have all been professional and very nice, stating management would be advised and they would call me No "manager/supervisor has had the courtesy to called me back in all these months I still have 50 more blankets I don't need and only take up space. When sold on the specifics of the move, I was told blankets were rented at $15.00 each and I would be refunded $10.00 per blanket upon return. We moved my dad to a different room at his assisted living earlier this spring. Meathead Movers were instrumental in this process. They showed up on time, completed the work really quickly and within the time frame they had quoted and were kind and respectful in the process. They also went above and beyond and took donations that I could not move myself. Called for a quote and the bottom end price they fave me without all the bells and whistles their salesmen pitch was $660. I need to move 9 items, only 9 items to my new place less than 5 minutes away. Double the price of every other moving company I called that day. They were trying to tote along this idea they've got the best reviews of anyone in the area, 3.9 on yelp and 4.6 on google is actually the lowest in the area. They really want to sell you on the bells and whistles offering insurance for a host of things that is completely unnecessary. Everything needs to improve!! Do yourself a favor and avoid Meathead movers at all costs! What should have been a carefully coordinated cross-country move became one of the most traumatic and negligent experiences imaginable. This company grossly underestimated the size of truck needed for our move, despite having detailed information about the contents of my home ahead of time. Because of their incompetence and lack of preparation, they left behind more than $30,000 worth of belongings. They even came 2 days before move days and assured me everything would fit. Among the items left behind were the ashes of my recently deceased husband -- something completely irreplaceable and deeply personal. The emotional distress this has caused is impossible to describe. No amount of excuses can justify treating a family's possessions, memories, and grief with such carelessness and disregard. Their credibility is a joke. At one point they said they recommended a 2nd truck and I responded that I'd have to check with my husband. Of course my response was "you mean the dead one"! Instead of taking accountability, communication was poor, solutions were inadequate, and I was left scrambling during an already emotional and stressful life transition. This was not just bad customer service -- it was shocking negligence. I would never recommend this company to anyone, especially where trust and professionalism matter most. Recommended by multiple friends, however these guys proved to be overpriced, unprepared and unaccommodating. Showed up without any moving equipment except blankets, had to borrow my small hand cart. Everything was prepped for them. Loaded up in 1.5 hours and drove 293 miles to destination. Passed them on the highway about 120 miles from destination. I got there at 6:30pm but they didn't show up till next morning. Gave me some BS about the drive taking them 9 hours because "company makes us take 2 lunches". We had a mutual understanding that I will at least have my mattress and safe at destination... Nah, they blew me off completely and had all my possessions in a truck sitting not 10 minutes from my place overnight in a motel, while they probably Ubered to the casinos 10 minutes away and had a boys' night out. The funny thing is that they drove right by my house and decided to just quit for the day. I slept on the floor woke up with a bad back. They locked the keys in the truck and had to "walk to Loews to buy bolt cutters". This clown outfit hires people who do not care. No messages returned once they have your stuff on the truck and you gave them half the payment, no replies to voice messages, absolute crap customer service. Finally someone did get back to me, listened very compassionately and promised to make things right somehow by Monday... A week ago. Ghosted again. So let this be a warning to you who are about to hire Meathead movers, they may not damage your things, but they will overcharge you and provide bad service. By the way, it took them 35 minutes to fully unload, after which they sat for more than half an hour in front of the house (milking the company) could have easily have done it on the moving day, 14 hours were not up! I am sure one of their lackey logistics assistant manager will respond to this, don't believe a word they say, I tried to talk to them a dozen times with nothing but crickets coming back. 1 star because they didn't damage much. David and Juan were absolutely fantastic. I run a very organized and clean household, and they were incredibly respectful of my home and belongings. They were more than happy to wear booties, handled everything with care, and packed my kitchen efficiently and thoughtfully. They called ahead before arriving, were accommodating with my requests, and worked quickly without ever feeling rushed or careless. On top of that, there was an accidental overcharge that they immediately caught and refunded--very honest and professional. I would give zero stars if possible. We moved from Long Beach to San Diego and spent over $7,000 on Meathead Movers, including packing services. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The packing was poorly executed: items from different rooms were mixed in the same boxes and mislabeled, leading to a chaotic unpacking process--especially problematic since some boxes were sent to a storage unit. It took us considerable time to locate the correct parts to reassemble furniture, as critical hardware was packed in boxes labeled for other rooms (e.g., garage or bathroom). In addition, multiple items were damaged due to inadequate packing methods. For example: * Our TVs were packed using old, damaged TV boxes, resulting in a cracked back cover on one TV. * A concrete coffee table arrived with a broken edge. * Bed frames sustained significant scratches and damage. * White couch cushions were delivered extremely dirty due to poor wrapping. The issues continued even after the move. Although we had purchased insurance, the response from the company was unhelpful--they instructed us to find repair professionals ourselves and submit estimates. Essentially, they caused the damage and then placed the burden of coordinating repairs on us. I have used professional moving companies multiple times before, but this was by far the worst overall experience. Both the moving process and the post-move customer service were unacceptable. Meathead Movers pulled an unauthorized charge of over $500 from our bank account months after our move -- with no invoice, no call, no text, no email, and no explanation. That alone is unacceptable, but it was only the beginning of what has become the worst moving experience we've ever had. Move Day Damage: Our July 22 move was a disaster. The crew: 1. Shattered the leg of our dining table 2. Damaged and improperly reassembled our dresser 3. Broke permanent closet shelving 4. Incorrectly assembled our bed frame 5. Arrived without basic tools, extending the paid time Because of the extensive damage, Brian (our moving project manager) offered a minor discount. We paid the agreed-upon $1,635.78 on the day of the move and assumed it was resolved. Billing Chaos & No Accountability : Months later, Meathead left a voicemail claiming different, inconsistent amounts we still owed -- first $60, then $487 -- When we immediately called back they noted a "manager would get back to us" to explain ...but no one ever did and then silently charged us $502.50 in October without authorization or permission. Which reeks of scam behavior, frankly. When we reached Brian, he didn't remember our move, had no notes, and failed to follow through on any of his promises. He sent us a Release of Claims form, which we signed in good faith, but the refund process was mishandled twice, dragging out for weeks. It ultimately had to be escalated to the general manager just to get movement. Even then, we were promised an additional $250 compensation check for the terrible experience -- which we still have not received. Completely unsurprising, considering their track record of atrocious follow-through and their willingness to slap on unauthorized charges without hesitation. Final Verdict: After months of damage, unauthorized charges, disorganization, and broken promises, it's clear this company has serious internal issues. We have moved over 20 times in our lives and have never encountered anything this unprofessional. I strongly advise others to avoid this company. If Meathead Movers handled furniture the way they handle billing, communication, and accountability, it's no wonder a majority of what they touched ended up broken. read more

tldr: pick someone else. Meathead showed up for a 13,000lbs job with two people and not enough boxes, tape, and ratchet straps (they ended up using my ratchet straps). Then they used profanity all day in my house, including in front of my 6 year old daughter. After they ran out of supplies, they just started throwing my stuff, loose, into the back of their truck. No moving stickers, no packaging, just threw it in the truck. Finally, Meathead gouged my hardwood floor when they didn't use a dolly to move my upright piano. To make matters worse, Meathead has yet to respond to any of my emails regarding the damage they caused to the property. As a service member, this was my 12th move and I've never (and mean never) had a move go this poorly. I've asked DoD to look into blacklisting Meathead so other service members don't go through the mess that I did. UPDATE: it turns out that TWO of our kids' beds were put together incorrectly. Absolutely horrible. Couldn't be more disappointed in this company. First of all, they give you a competitive quote to get you in the door with the promise of a maximum price 2 times that. Then they have 4 guys come to your house working slower than molasses to make sure they exceed the estimated time so they reach that maximum price no matter what. Inventory expected to be moved was clarified multiple times with management and yet come the day of the move multiple items were not transported to the new location. This required us to get our own U-Haul and move the items ourself. On top of that, they decided that certain items were not able to placed in upstairs locations after again promising this service to get us in the door. The final price was given to us at the end of the day and SURPRISE... max quote. Management was contacted with our concerns prior to paying and they offered no solution or discount in price. I just got off of the phone with one of their reps. I asked if they had a minimum hour requirement as I know a lot of places do. I only have three large items that need to be moved. He said no, and that they provide custom quotes based off of the job. This sounded perfect and he asked if I had 15 minutes for him to make a project to deliver me the quote. After I gave him all the information he told me since it's a small job he would have to quote for a 4 hour minimum rate which was over $1000.00. I specifically asked at the beginning of the call to not waste time if there was a minimum. He started to argue with me and say it's not a minimum. Wasted 12 minutes when it could've been answered with my first question when I called before going into detail about everything. ***During our conversation he asked how I heard about them. I told him I've been googling places. He joked that I must have read the good reviews and not the bad reviews. I was standing on my front porch when a meathead moving truck attempted to turn left onto a one way street. the driver of this truck was very young and clearly inexperienced. my car was parked on the corner and he backed the truck right up into my car. I was nice on the seen recognizing these were young kids trying to do a job. I have been calling the company for 4 days now and have been given the run a round about when someone will be contacting me regarding the damage. I've been told the operations manager will be giving me a call to follow up and still have not heard anything from him or anyone else within the company. If you're looking for the cheapest movers, Meathead IS NOT it (every other quote I received was less), BUT if you are looking for quality, reliability and delivering on promises, Meathead Movers is an excellent choice! I used Meathead Movers for my move from Sherman Oaks down to the Palm Springs area....very glad I did! I spoke with 3 or 4 other moving companies who seemed unorganized, kept changing pricing, wasn't sure how many people they could get for the move ("I can promise you at least 2 people, more if I can get them....."), etc. Meathead met every promise and more. I had a 3-bedroom home to relocate, and Brett turned up with 5 great guys (who worked so hard all day... no downtime for this team!) at 10am as promised. They worked all day to get 100+ boxes and many rooms of furniture loaded on their sizeable truck, all packed securely and very well. Then they went to my offsite storage unit and picked up more there. They met me down in the desert the next morning; Brett and Manny did a great job agan, non-stop unloading and putting things in the right room or location. Yes, I absolutely would have liked to have paid less for the move, but in the long-run, I could not be more pleased and they absolutely have my recommendation and referral to friends & family! read more

Terrible moving service. I was excited to use their service because I know they donate services to domestic violence survivors; however, they are truly a terrible moving company. The movers were late and extremely rude. They said things like we "packed the boxes too heavily," and we were never given guidelines on how heavy the boxes needed to be. They also moved so slowly, which really wouldn't have been a problem, except they kept trying to change the cost of the service, and it felt like they were not honoring their end of the bargain but were constantly adding charges at the same time. They had this statement saying they would run while not moving, which was a total lie (I have a video of this man I swear walking so slow it/barely lifting his feet. It would have taken him at least 40/50 minutes to walk a mile at that pace, which I wanted to post, but it seems like I can only post photos ); again, we wouldn't have been bothered by this except for them trying to nickel and dime us for everything. I was told we could contact support/request new movers at any point during the move; however, I tried to contact them for hours, and no one responded until the van was almost entirely packed. We originally chose this company because they had a payment cap for the maximum amount they would charge. However, on the day of the move, they kept moving the cap up. We wouldn't have used their services if we knew the cap wasn't in stone/could be altered the day of the move. What is the point of a cap if a cap moves? Our choices were to either pay extra or not have our items moved by the company and it was impossible to get another company on an hour notice. We basically had to pay extra or not move which seems completely unethical. Finally, they broke multiple items/placed fragile items upside down. Trying to get them to honor our claims was a challenge as they basically said anything we packed in boxes wasn't insured, which didn't make sense because we again chose their company because they said they covered for losses, which they did not. Overall, we were so excited about our move, and this was one of the worst experiences with a company we have ever had. Their happiness guarantee is a joke. I recommend using a different company (before we had used rock and roll movers which we loved and highly recommend). read more

What an absolute garbage experience this has been. I was promised careful packaging and moving of family heirloom antiques and instead had my belongings carelessly loaded in inappropriate ways, my requests ignored, and months on end of useless attempts to file an insurance claim that has still resulted in absolutely nothing. As I write this I have still not received any acceptable resolution. My move was in October 2024 and it now July 2025. I have spent hours and hours of my life explaining and re-explaining the damage done and having my emails ignored. They lied to make a sale and seem to not even be able to read and respond to basic information. I joined yelp just to leave this review. I gave them months and months of chances to resolve my claim but they can't even be bothered to answer or return calls and emails. If I could leave less than 1 star I would. I personally wanted to thank the two Meathead Movers team members that I had the pleasure of speaking with over the phone in regard to a quote. Elaine and the moving coordinator, Sarah. Meathead Movers was the first company I called out of half a dozen moving companies. I just so happen to see their moving trucks around on the road in Santa Ana as well as around my neighborhood. They have brilliant marketing for sure! I love the aspect of a small mom and pop company that started in San Luis Obispo and grew to become a large company with multiple locations in California. The notion of having student athletes as movers is too cool for school! I noticed one time that there were guys who looked like they were on a sports team jogging in my neighborhood and I saw a huge moving truck. Lo and behold -- they are actually a moving company! Totally brilliant! Also totally brill is their social media. Their Instagram (@meatheadmovers) has a good following and I love how personable it is. Not to mention their visual marketing is top notch! I love their brand logo, which is very much resembles one of my favorite movies -- Top Gun. Now the cherry on top is if the student athlete movers cane with call signs like Maverick, Goose, Iceman, Slider, Merlin... or even Charlie! Lol! (Can't wait for the new movie -- Top Gun: Maverick) The initial phone call was very extended and full of details. After gathering all the basic and general information about the move, I was transferred to a moving coordinator. After getting pricing information, an email quote was received right away. During the phone call both Elaine and Sarah answered all my questions and provided me with time and care. I especially loved learning more about Meathead as a company. They are for sure a legitimate company. If you are looking them up on CPUC, you need to put San Luis Obispo (their headquarters) as the county location of business. This company truly does care! They are taking all necessary and CDC precautions during COVID-19. Beside the usual mask, gloves, antibacterializing, and wiping the truck down, they are also taking the moving members temperatures frequently. Little things like that make people like myself appreciate so much! Anyway, unfortunately their quote was high for me during this time and I had to go in a different direction. It's definitely tough times right now during COVID-19 pandemic. Meathead was recommended to me by friends. The three team members sent out to move me were great-5 stars for Cameron, Lorenzo and Felix. I worked my butt off to make sure they could move my boxes from my house to the truck, then truck to storage, as quickly as possible and within the 3 hour minimum quote. Still, I was charged an extra hour due to 'traffic.' The phone estimate I received included a 45 minute expected drive time, doubled to include return time. I get that. When I complained later, I was told that 45 miles/45 minutes was only an estimate. Since this was all verbal- and I had written down 1.5 hours, I figured the time to load and unload was where I could control costs. Nope. It all goes out the window if there is traffic. It took me 40 min to get from my house to the storage unit; it took the truck 69 minutes. That equals an extra hour. Yep.Do not book them if there is any possibility of traffic. Even a Tuesday morning at 1130 AM, 60 Fwy to Rubidoux. If you do, please ask them to DOUBLE the drive time estimate so you aren't surprised. Less than an hour to load, less than an hour to offload, and 69 min to go 36 miles on a Tues morning. I do not understand. To Meathead's credit, they reviewed the telematics tracking system and they state the truck never deviated from its course the whole time. Nevertheless, I don't understand AND more, I feel they should have made it clear that I would be responsible for extra time due to "traffic" that I never encountered. read more

This review is not in regards to quality of their work but rather their pricing. Called to set up a small move that only required a handful of items. Was quoted over $900 for two hours with 2 movers and a truck. Got the job done by one of their competitors for $409 and was allocated three hours. The Meatheads rammed my BRAND NEW couch into a wall corner and ripped the fabric, and managed to also crack the foot of the couch. You would think that they would acknowledge responsibility since the couch was brand new -- but they didn't. They gave me the runaround and offered $50. If you have anything of value, I recommend you go with someone else. Meatheads can move things but you can't trust them to be safe with it. read more
