First time trying this spot, and I'll be back. They stay away from seeds oil (which is a huge plus!!) The sandwiches are delicious!!! We tried the meatball this time, that was a 10/10. You can also add to the sandwiches.. so feel free to get creative when your ordering :)

Service is absolutely above and beyond This establishment does a concerted effort to make sure of that. What they make is phenomenal.

I've been meaning to try this place so placed an order online and got it within 15-20 min. Maybe I was hyping it up, but while I liked the porchetta sandwich, I'm not sure I'd go out of my way for it. That said, I think it'd make a good lunch spot if you're already downtown and craving a sandwich! The grilled cheese was good too. Prices a bit high, but it is downtown so somewhat expected.

I thought Meat & Bread was fantastic! I arrived at 11am, just as it was about to open. The friendly servers mentioned that they were finishing up baking the bread, which was like music to my ears. I stood in front of the counter and watched the cook chop the meat (I believe for the Porchetta sandwich) as pieces of pork sprayed about. It looked unbelievably delicious. What I love about Austin is that great food is ingrained in the culture. It was a tough choice, but I opted for the Italian Panino sandwich because I was in the mood for deli meat and also got the kale caesar. They packed it for me and I took off on my bike rental headed for any park bench I could find. It was a very hot late June day in Austin - I thought even hotter than where I live in south Florida. As a visiter to Austin, I relied on Yelp to pick Meat & Bread for lunch - once again Yelp helped steer me in the right direction.

We enjoyed this meal. Would recommend to others for a good sandwich downtown. Side note: Owners reply to the 5 to 1 star review is off putting, yelp reviews are meant to be useful and informative to businesses on how they can do better, would recommend staying open to customer input. Other than seeing that review reply, I was pleased with this place.

The food was great, I had the meatball sandwich and it was warm, filling, and hearty. They were out of the aoli it came with but offered a basil one instead which offered a unique flavor to the sandwich. The bread was probably my favorite part, fresh, crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside, and delicious. This is a great quick service place for lunch. It's nothing fancy inside but it had a decent amount of seating and they were fast and friendly with their service. I do wish there was a large selection on the menu but overall I would recommend.

I couldn't decide between the buffalo chicken or meatball... so I got both! The sandwiches itself were good, easy recommend with the meatball sub having a slight edge. I believe there are breadcrumbs inside the sandwich so you get a double crunch. What really elevates Meat & Bread is the sambal and mustard that's served along side each sandwich. Doesn't taste like anything I've had before but really makes a difference

Prompt service and recommendation for the Porchetta sandwich which was very enjoyable! Would definitely come again. Stayed here and worked for a few hours as well. Relaxed and not too busy mid afternoon!

After hearing only good things about Meat and Bread, myself and some friends decided to give it a try for a week day lunch. It's a cute little spot on the 1st floor of the 360 Condos with both indoor and outdoor seating. Offering order ahead and counter service, the line moves quickly. The employees were incredibly friendly and helpful as we asked some questions about the menu. We got the Porchetta, Buffalo Chicken, and Eggplant Parm sandwiches along with a side of the Calabrian Chili Aioli. They're known for their Porchetta and we see why. That sandwich was phenomenal in both texture and flavor. The Buffalo Chicken was a good mix of spicy and tasty. The Eggplant Parm was very good as well and had a great ratio of tomato to cheese to herbs. I look forward to coming back and trying the Meatball sandwich and more.

Amazing sandwiches! Great service and really concerned that you are happy with their food. The Porchetta is amazing and their bread is too. The BBQ chicken was great as well as the breakfast sandwich. Definitely will be back!

Meat & bread is one of my favourite sandwich restaurants here in Austin. Came here quite often during lunch break since it's very convenient for me. I had their steak frites today and really enjoyed it! The steak is pretty soft with crispy chips. I highly recommend their red sauce bc it really adds flavour to the sandwich. Had their Porchetta and meatballs sandwiches before and both are delicious! The staff are really friendly and food comes out quickly as well.

I've been wanting to try meat & bread for awhile. They are located in downtown Austin and have also been recognized by michelin when they expanded to Texas. Since they are in downtown, parking is very difficult. I parked at Trader Joe's and bought something cheap to validate my parking for a couple hours and just walked over. I tried their most popular sandwich, the porchetta, as well as the grilled cheese. The porchetta includes crackling and salsa verde. This is my first time having porchetta and it is really similar to porkbelly. The sandwich was pretty solid but I felt like they shoudlve added more salsa verde. It kind of just tasted like meat and bread with the seasoning a little lacking. I actually really liked their grilled cheese much more. They use aged cheddar and sourdough bread. They also allow to add protein to it if you wish. We also asked for the truffle Parmesan dip and they were kind enough to give it to us on the house. The truffle and Parmesan flavors are both bold yet don't overpower each other. I recommend getting this to pair with your sandwiches. I came for the porchetta but ended up loving the grilled cheese

    Steak Frites sandwich

This place was amazing!!! The staff were so incredibly kind, joyous, and helpful! I got the steak frites sandwich and it was absolutely amazing. My friend got the grilled cheese and truly it was the best grilled cheese ever made. In love with this cute little place and I will be back!

Handsome Dans has a sign directing you to the back where they are located. The vibe is true to a bait shop/diner it's casual with a rustic feel, they have a large covered patio adjacent to Stargazer bar. I highly suggest sitting outside if possible because the inside does get a bit claustrophobic and smokey when it's packed and they are smashing paninis on the press with no proper kitchen overhead vents. The type of greasy smoke you get when you are making super buttery sandwiches on a hot press. The sandwiches are ok but not something I would go out of my way to have ,our kids liked the hotdogs and Frito pies which were also kind of "upper class" gas station quality. Most of the stuff here is food that probably tastes way better after drinking several beers. It's like any normal sandwich you could make at home and toss in a panini press to be honest. Really good beers on tap and friendly staff who seemed to disappear to the back quite a bit and came back confused. They didn't know if they had already given me my food because I was ordering and paying for extra food after more people in our party arrived. They literally saw my food I already had on the table from my previous order and thought they gave me double of what I ordered hahaha. I can't make a judgment because I have no clue what they kept dispersing to the back for but can just say the confusion was real, LOL. All together if I had to come back it be because someone I knew wanted to try it. Otherwise for me it's a one and done. I got the pictures I stood next to a sign ,I had the Signiture sandwiches, now I'm moving on. I can say I've been there done that. I'm guessing that a college crowd or just being a single person who just wants to be amongst people that this is the type of lowkey place to go if you're not into the typical Longhorn hangouts. You stop in ,have some beers, eat a low budget ingredient expensive panini sandwich and chill till you have to call yourself a Waymo cause the beer is good and strong.
