We bought some burgers from the Mr. Sandwich food truck while on Rainey St. with some friends. The burgers were good and tasty. Not sure if all the burgers are always cooked well-done, but that's how ours were made (and was never asked if I wanted otherwise). Also ordered a side of fried plantains that came with a small cup of ketchup. They were harder than I was expecting, and not to salted. Next time I think I'd just order the fries. Waited at the window to order for several minutes while the guy took a phone call, then had a hard time hearing him take my order since he was still on his call and had his mask on (pandemic issues...and maybe this is where he asked how I wanted my burgers cooked?? Who knows, couldn't hear him!). Then it took awhile for the order to come out. By the time I got the food and back to our table, our friends had already purchased and eaten their food from other food trucks, so that was a bummer. Good option if you're in the food truck park. The good: This is a food truck located on the busy party street of Rainey. There is outdoor bench-style seating. They were one of the few food trucks in this area that was open during the daytime. The majority of the other options are open later at night when the bar scene is crowded. The bad: The brisket sandwich tasted mostly of just BBQ sauce and the brisket was cut up in small weird chunks. There was melted orange cheese on it that was also unappetizing. We didn't want the caramelized onions so we asked for raw onions but the cashier/cook didn't speak English so the most we could communicate was "no onions." Also, the payment machine was all in Spanish (for selecting tip, signature, etc) so you better brush up on your Spanish if you're paying by credit card! There were cigarette butts on the ground and on the tables and a homeless person hanging out at the benches as well. I ordered fries at first but they were sold out. Located in a food tuck yard on RAINEY. It was a satisfying place to grab a drunk bite to eat. It was 5:30 on a Sunday so it wasn't too busy. (4/5): OL'GOLY ($11.50): This one is protein-heavy sausage, bacon, and you get a choice of CHICKEN or BEEF or you can mix it. There sweet corn on there but you can't really taste it or see it but I love corn so I don't mind. I thought the portion was nice and it filled us up. (4/5): SURF & TURF ($12.99): We chose beef and it includes shrimp and calamari. The shrimp was big and the squid gave it an interesting texture. The quality of the sandwiches are great. I really had to debate on what star I was going to give this place. The burger I ordered was very good, great flavor and put together almost picture perfect. The reason I took a star away was how long it took to get my burger. There was maybe 3 people who ordered in front of me so it wasn't incredibly busy or backed up, but it still took almost 30 minutes for my burger to come out. Big surprise here! I was visiting Austin and walking on Rainy street. We were looking for something quick to eat and saw a bunch of food trucks. Probably the best burger I've eaten....ever! I had the Howdy burger, which had every meat from all of the animals. Beef patty cooked to perfection and juicy, topped with sliced grilled sausage, grilled chicken, bacon, egg, avacado and some amazing sauce that pulled it all together. When we placed our order my friend went to pay with her card and the cashier said it wouldn't go through. No biggie, so I give them my card, again, she says it didn't go through.
