Located in a food tuck yard on RAINEY. It was a satisfying place to grab a drunk bite to eat. It was 5:30 on a Sunday so it wasn't too busy. (4/5): OL'GOLY ($11.50): This one is protein-heavy sausage, bacon, and you get a choice of CHICKEN or BEEF or you can mix it. There sweet corn on there but you can't really taste it or see it but I love corn so I don't mind. I thought the portion was nice and it filled us up. (4/5): SURF & TURF ($12.99): We chose beef and it includes shrimp and calamari. The shrimp was big and the squid gave it an interesting texture. The quality of the sandwiches are great. The wait can be long when there are a lot of people ordering and waiting. It is definitely worth a try.

Meh, boring Mr. sandwich

Great brisket sandwich, but overall it's overpriced. The Mr. Sandwich was boring and they didn't have avocado on it like it says on the menu. The beef was way over cooked. Also, meager fries portions for $1.50

Absolutely amazing... When I think of a sandwich, this is not what I think of. I think of something simple and bland to fill you up for the time being. That is FAR from what you get when you experience Mr. sandwich. I had the pleasure of eating the Surf & Turf sandwich and tried my friend's Texan French Fries... SO GOOD! The owner of Mr. Sandwich has a very service-oriented establishment and knows how to make you feel welcome. Not to mention he can COOK!!! I am big on arriving to a food truck/restaurant and looking up reviews and most importantly, pictures. I have to say, the pictures on Yelp don't give it justice. The food at this truck is fantastic and I was wishing it wasn't over. I can't wait to go back!!!

My burger patty had a bite out of it. I can't make this stuff up. Literally the most disgusting experience ever!

My oh my! Hubs and I came here last night to grab a quick bite for dinner. We ordered the Texas loaded fries and the BBQ open face sandwich. Goodness is what I call it! What a great start to our weekend get away here in Austin, TX!

Big surprise here! I was visiting Austin and walking on Rainy street. We were looking for something quick to eat and saw a bunch of food trucks. I decided to try the burger and didn't have high expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The burger was nice and juicy and didn't fall apart like some burgers do. The fries were also delicious. Burgers are priced at 11.50 and adding fries is another $2. Totally worth it. The guy working the food truck was super nice and helpful.

They brought lunch for purchase to my office and it was very disappointing. One scoop of rice, one scoop of beans, one scoop of steak. No salsa, no toppings, no flavor. And $11 for this tiny bowl. It was a limited menu since it was off site but seriously how is this the best you can do?

Bacon was super raw

Very unimpressed. My husband and I decided to give this place a try when we were in the area. We each ordered a burger. I had to repeat my order several times, but it still came out incorrect. The order came with bacon, which was pretty much raw. I ended up scraping this off the burger. My husband and I each got through maybe a third of our burgers before throwing them away. There really wasn't a whole lot of flavor and the patties appeared to be slightly undercooked as well. Probably good that we stopped when we did, as we both felt rather nauseated afterwards. For the price that we paid, I was hoping for better quality. Maybe it was just an off day, but I don't think I will try it again.

Austin fries were BOMB! OMG, I was in love! Steak, chicken, mushrooms, caramelized onions and the chipotle sauce. Great combination!

I love this Place, best open face sandwich in town, you have to try their original sauces, by the way they add a Venezuelan touch to all their recipes that makes them AMAZING!!!

This sandwich was so good I wanted to adopt the damn thing.

I had the X burger and I'm pretty sure it changed my life! Beef burger, bacon, buffalo Mozzarella, lettuce tomatoes, onions, home made pesto, avocado and pickles. Holy bejesus!

Howdy burger!

They have Christmas lights which are very pretty, but I went at night in mid October so I wasn't facing the brutal Texas heat. They have really good hours, perfect for a late night snack. The workers were quick with our food. They call it out and you go pick it up from the trailer. I will say it looked mostly like paid parking, but we risked it & didn't pay as we were probably there for less than 30 minutes.

This tastes like it came straight out of someone's granny's kitchen in SPAIN. D E L I C I O U S. The owner makes it a point to connect with customers, which was refreshing. You can tell this is passion-driven. You order via QR code at your table, then pick up out back when it's ready--easy. Everything is prepped daily in a Commercial kitchen and finished on the truck, and he proudly shared that the ingredients, spices, even the meats are sourced from Spain. Vegan paella? Incredible. Patatas bravas with vegan aioli? My personal favorite, sooo good. My husband loved the jamón serrano sandwich. And whatever you do, don't skip the sourdough rye with tomato spread. I sat down yesterday to eat a $13 lunch special: brown stew chicken, rice and peas, steamed…read morecabbage, and plantain, and bit into a piece of chicken that was refrigerator cold. Not lukewarm. Cold. I bit it a second time because I genuinely couldn't believe it. Meanwhile, the rice was so hot it was still visibly steaming from what I can only assume was a microwave, drowned in a watery gravy I never asked for, next to the old cabbage with solidified liquid. I brought the plate back to the counter, explained the chicken was refrigerator cold, and asked them to reheat it. I'm writing this today with an upset stomach. I wish I could say this was a one-time issue. It's not. I've been trying this restaurant, on and off, for over 15 years, and I kept giving them chance after chance because I wanted so badly for it to be good. I first met the owner when he ran a food truck, before the restaurant existed. I was excited; there weren't many Jamaicans in Austin at the time, and I was happy to support one. The rice and peas was so bad I threw the plate away. Years later, I tried the restaurant location. I ordered curry goat, took it to my car, and found the meat flavorless, fatty, and poorly trimmed; basically inedible. I threw it away in the parking lot. I later ordered oxtail through Uber Eats: flavorless again, poorly prepped meat, and an actual rock in the rice and peas. I tried introducing the child to Jamaican food with one of their beef patties, and it was dry and flavorless. Yesterday I ordered the "safest" thing on the menu, brown stew chicken, specifically because I no longer trust myself to spend real money on anything more ambitious here. I still got food that had clearly been microwaved and reheated unevenly, served with a piece of chicken that was still cold. Are we really selling microwaved leftovers out of an established restaurant with a huge kitchen? Jamaican food is something our culture takes real pride in. This restaurant has had a decade and a half to get it right, and instead I've watched it consistently cut corners on seasoning, on prep, and now on basic food safety. I don't say this lightly: if you want real Jamaican food, this isn't where you'll find it, and depending on the day, what you're served may not even be handled safely.
