Another great meal and the apple cheesecake will beat any 5 star dining

You think this is the "Medicare Lounge"? Feel free while the rest if us rejoice in the short lines of the best food value in town. We eat here because the staff is awesome the food is a mix of fresh and cafeteria cheap and they have some of the best stuff you'll ever eat.... let alone gum!

Enjoyed a great lunch special with a fried catfish sandwich, one side and a drink for $11. Sit as long as you like, free drink refills and and use the free WiFi, it's very hard to beat the value here. Daily blue plate special gets you a reduced portion for a very fair price, a different entrée every day. Cinnamon rolls and dinner rolls made fresh daily, don't miss, it's easy to overdo the carbs here lol. My catfish sandwich was delicious, three huge lightly battered filets on a Kaiser roll with lettuce tomato and pickles, yummy. Good iced tea also. Vegetarian rating: three stars, there are many salads and veg options, but there is no special vegetable entrée or plate. Has a big private room, seats at least 50 ppl. You can bring a group here for an event and everybody gets exactly what they want from the cafeteria line. It's true, I worked here back in 1983 making fried chicken! Not a lot has changed either even though the building was knocked down and completely rebuilt since then.

As is usual for my experiences with the MCL in Muncie, every employee genuinely greeted me and said goodbye and was eager to help me through the (empty) serving line to choose what I wanted. All a la carte, not cheap, but most everything is of average quality. The desserts are always above average and the cookies here are consistent with my Muncie experiences- thick and chewy and delicious! Overall good times even if I was the youngest customer by 4 decades at least. Even though I knew not to trust the quality of the non-dessert food, I ordered two fried chicken legs ($2.29 each!). They were of course spectacularly bad. They reeked of fish and the taste was not something I'd had before in fried chicken. The crispy breading was odd in flavor- just not right is all I can say to describe it. The brownie I saved for last and it was gooey, fudgy, and overall just a $2.35 glob of high calorie goodness to wash out the chicken I'd just endured. The pecan (with caramel?) pie tasted like earwax smelled- you guys would know the smell if you smelled it. It was otherworldly in the worst way and it hurts me to diss pie.

Chicken was salty, the string were not done and the dressing was stuffing. Totally disappointed.

REVIEW: Avila.Eats on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube…read more 1. Cheese bread is slightly crispy but super gooey. Reslly nice flavor. Has a pleasant chew. 7 2. Chicken croquette is crispy. But inside isn't all that flavorful. Cream cheese filling adds a creaminess and the chicken itself doesn't do much. 4 3. Burger is juicy, tender, and seasoning is present but not the main show. The egg adds an umami and the bun is sweet. This burger relies heavily on the mayo which maybe I'm crazy but it taste way better than normal mayo. Ham doesn't really add anything and the bacon adds a crunch and flavor. 6 house mayo 4. Picanah is tender and so well flavored. Juicy and the fat melts away. 9 the fried yuca has a great typical yuca taste but isn't salted. I'd like to have some seasoning or flavor contrast. But dipping the yuca in the juices of the picanah solves all the problems. 8. Adding Brazilian chimichurri is ok. Not my favorite style of chimichurri. Mixing chimi and house made meyo combo with the yuca flour is 10 bite. Super good 5. Beans are soft and tender. Beans flavor but no seasoning. 4.5 after adding the yuca flour it helps a little bit but beans aren't for me. 6. Picanah sandwich is amazing. Adds the flavor of that picanah to the delicious house made mayo. This sandwich doesn't rely so heavily on the mayo. I reslly enjoyed this. I'd like it more if the bread wasn't so much. The chimichurri mixes really well with their house made mayo. Fatty with a tang. Tender and juicy. This might be a 10 if the bread wasn't so thick and bready 9.5

They have a menu of items you can try in order off of, but my sister and I got the buffet and we're sure glad that we did. They had some salad bar items and then hot bar items with different items that rotate daily. In addition, they had a gentleman carving beautifully cooked steak, lamb, and sausage at your request. Everyone that worked there was super nice and helpful. Multiple people stopped by to check on us and welcome us. All the food was delicious and we picked out a few desserts to take home from the bakery (not included in the buffet price). There's also a little Brazilian market attached to the restaurant that is worth checking out as well. The restaurant itself had a really nice vibe with exposed brick walls. One of the women working told us that happy hour is from 12 to 8 but I will have to come back and try one of their cocktails at some other point. I will definitely be back.

But a really friendly waitress popped out of the back and took our order. We ordered lemon chicken and hot pepper chicken for appetizers, and orange beef, beef fried rice, and house special Hakka noodles. Everything was hot and extremely fresh, especially the appetizers and the beef items. The spot was really unassuming, with some simple decorations and booths. We weren't sure how it was going to be, but we came to know the chef was an older Chinese gentleman with lots of experience, which explained the amazing tasting food. We will definitely be back here to try more of the Chinese food, and some of the Indian options as well. Really glad to find a fresh, tasty, HALAL spot in Columbus, they are few and far between!

One restaurant, two cuisines!…read more So, there's a new Indo - Chinese restaurant that just opened called India Bistro & China House. I checked them out for lunch this afternoon around noon and the buffet had about 16 or so items, mostly Indian with a few American Chinese dishes. Lunch is $16.99 from 11am to 2pm and dinner is 18.99 from 5pm to 9:30. The meat is halal, btw. Let me tell you about the things I tried. * Naan: Was nice and warm with just the right amount of chew. * Chicken: Pretty good version with tender chicken and a hearty sauce. * Vegetarian Fried Rice: Pretty decent basic version made with shredded cabbage. * Vegetable Pokora: Delicious! and with just the right amount of crispiness and spice. * Tandoori Chicken: Big chunks of breast meat. Great flavor too. * General Tso's Chicken: Pretty good with a pronounced honey sweetness. * Vegetable Lo Mein: The only thing I had that I didn't like. Soggy and flavorless. All in all, this was a good first visit. There were a couple little snags that I'm not going to bother mentioning because, like I said, this is a soft opening so they'll work out the kinks in time. Recommended and looking forward to trying them again in another month or two! 4 Stars And I've Got A Few Thoughts For The Owners: My recommendation to the owners is to reconsider the price. While your food is very good, $16.99 for lunch seems a little high for the selection that's available. $12.99 or $13.99 might be a better price point. Get your clientele built up first and then consider raising the price. Also, a soup of the day option would be nice. Thupka, Hot and Sour, Egg Drop, Wonton... Best of luck to you folks!

All very impressive. Not too busy on Friday at 11:30 am but it got busier. Service for drinks was very attentive but almost everyone i saw just got water. I asked about Japanese drinks and the waiter said we go to the front and grab those out of a fridge. On to the food. I started with the sushi of which there was a very large selection of both sashimi and sushi rolls, including several different toppings. I was bitterly disappointed that the taste of the sushi was not good. In fact, I could not even eat it except for the fried items which were good, although not really hot. I'm a little embarrassed to say that I did stuff a couple pieces of sushi in a napkin so that it didn't look so wasteful but really I could not eat it. Unfortunately this was my daughter's first time trying sushi so still not sure if she likes it. Onto the other hot dishes, the Asian food such as general Tso chicken, chicken with mushrooms, and beef with peppers was all very good. However, the fried rice just had some color and onion in it, no egg, no carrots, no peas. And the noodles were very basic but edible. The spring roll was very mushy again could not finish that. At this point, I was kind of over trying to find things that I liked and decided to end with some ice cream. There were just little cups of ice cream three different flavors and this was honestly the best part of my meal. My daughter tried three little cakes and she said they were excellent. I'm not sure about the salads and the fried American foods they had but overall I would just say the quality wasn't something I would go back for. There were people that had been there before, seemed like regulars and even had reward card to punch so maybe certain palletes enjoy it. I do think that the Asian protein dishes were the best part for me but not worth a return trip.
