I've been wanting to try this place and my daughter suggested it since we were going to an appt. nearby. The menu is extensive-2 pages just for lunch. I was disappointed that there were no dishes with mole. My daughter got a chicken bowl which she loved, I got a a combination dish-a chicken burrito and a beef enchilada, rice and black beans. It was delicious. Also filling. I took home the burrito and half the rice and beans. The chips and salsa that are served immediately after you sit down were above average, especially the salsa. Coleslaw and greeen dip (not avocado) were sooo tasty and unexpected. My daughter also got Horchata -her fav. Service was attentive. Place was clean,even the bathroom. Parking front and back-but we parked in front in disabled spot since I have mobility problems and there wasn't a ramp which was a problem-before leaving we checked in back but a car parked blocking the ramp. We ate at La Loma when they first opened, we left with a pretty good impression, everything seemed fresh. Last week we returned, there was hardly anyone there? My wife ordered the Chimichangas, and I ordered the Steak & Chicken Fajitas. The plate of sizzling Fajitas, I thought wow! Very little, and I mean little Steak or Chicken, and everything looked "Orange", and was absolutely tasteless. My wife was dealing with stomach issues for 2 days. Loved La Loma! The staff was welcoming and on top of everything all evening. My party of 3 came in for happy hour and ended up staying into the 9:00 hour! Speaking of happy hour, get the Jumbo Margarita. It's discounted to the price of a Regular size, and trust me, you'll appreciate those extra ounces of goodness. Good chips and salsa started the festivities. My Gordo Burrito filled with chorizo , in all of its cheesy goodness, was everything that I hoped for. I have never been served coleslaw in a mexican restaurant before but, oddly, it was one of the best parts of the meal. I would come back for the chips, great fresh salsas, that coleslaw and a margarita. The food is definitely an improvement over the mexican restaurant that was formerly in the space. That said, I thought the food was underwhelming. The traditional tacos were subpar. Menu said they come served with lettuce, tomato and cheese but came out with just meat and cheese. Taco shells were not like expected and I did not enjoy the texture - thick and fried. Definitely not a traditional corn shell. Rice and beans were pretty bland. They could be really good with some seasoning. Service for our large group was fantastic. Food came out quickly, they were very attentive and staff were friendly. read more

Quick review: Lovely interior. Simply beautiful. Staff excellent. Offers free chips n Salsa which was probably some of the best I have had anywhere. Along with that they bring a side of free coleslaw, thought that was strange but it sure was delicious. They offer lunch specials most around 11 bucks. Some more. Some less. Decent sizing of then lunch special. I ordered the enchilada/taco special. Wasn't a huge fan of what I selected. The taco protein was something i never heard of. Will not get again. The chicken in the enchilada is not shredded its mini cubes... i found them dry and the tiny cubes were a weird texture. Sauces on everything was heavy but good. I came here shortly after ordering tacos for delivery. They were even better in person. Well, the shrimp left some to be desired (flavor and quantity), but the lengua is top tier. So tender and flavorful. The margarita also tastes delicious and high quality if you're a fan of tequila. The service was good but our waiter assumed the man to pay, which always irks me. (Just ask.) I visited La Loma on a Friday evening. It wasn't too busy and they were accommodating to seating our fairly large group. However, I was a little turned off when I first arrived and the hostess just pointed to where was table was roughly located and sent me to find it by myself. Also when my friend asked for suggestions on which margarita she should order the server just shrugged and offered no help. I, however, had no problem deciding on which margarita to order and got the jumbo size. It was tasty but I felt they went light on the salt on the rim if that is your thing. For dinner I ordered a chicken fajita burrito. To be honest the entire meal I had a difficult time telling if I was eating chicken or shrimp. That said it still was pretty tasty. Overall the experience was a bit of a mixed bag but I would give them another shot! read more

Another perfect visit to La Loma! Amazing service, solid menu. It was a Friday at dinner time, but it wasn't too crowded, not too loud,and there was almost no wait. This time we tried some of our more traditional Mexican faves - aguachile (spicy verde marinated shrimp) and chicharron carnudo ( this is like a spicy red sauce marinated soft pork skin confit). Oh and agua Fresca de jamaica (hibiscus drink - it's my favorite. their version is very sweet.) Everything was delicious! La Loma is a pretty decent spot if you're looking for more authentic mexican rather than "Tex-Mex". Their margaritas are definitely the best in the UA/Grandview area. I had the chorizo taco, which was incredible and so tasty. It it is so nice to have all the sauces and dips that they bring to the table to try different taco topping combinations - allows more fun and variety between each taco. I also had a chicken taco, which was rather dry and heavily relied on additional sauce to be slightly good. Overall good experience, fun ambience, and good food (for the most part) and margs. read more

Four stars is as high as I go and it's earned here. The menu runs the gamut from Americanized Mexican to very traditional Mexican. Have you ever seen raw oysters in your old haunt? Didn't think so. They include several excellent and varied house sauces with your meal and the entrees and sides are well above average. The margaritas were excellent, and the chips came with salsa, a tasty green sauce, and a crunchy coleslaw (which was fantastic, by the way). My husband had the steak burrito; it was huge and he loved it. I had the chicken enchiladas, and they were full of flavor. Even the side salad was fresh and delicious. We tried LaLoma for the first time yesterday and had a serious conversation about going back today. It's honestly the best Mexican food I've had in Central Ohio, I've missed Mexican food this good, so much. Everything our group ordered was fresh & delicious, the menu had tons of options, the people couldn't be friendlier, everything was just perfect. Add to that they've only been open a few weeks, and they're probably still figuring a few things out, I expect they'll only get better. Tried La Loma for the first time tonight and it was excellent! The waiters and waitresses were wonderful and very attentive - Caesar the owner even came over to check on us. It wasn't just the service that made it great - the carne asada and chile quilles were so good. They had some homemade sauces that made the dishes all the better. Was excited to try after reading the reviews. Let me start by saying the service is amazing and they are fast! I went alone and felt that I was underwhelmed from the beginning. The chips and salsa were both bland. The spicy guacamole was very spicy but not seasoned so I only tasted avocado and jalapeno. I had the chicken in the cheese sauce with chorizo. It wasn't bad but it wasn't memorable. The portions are huge so I brought it home and tried to add my own season but it was just ok. Sadly a Mexican restaurant that has bland guacamole wont compel me to return. read more
