Wonderful service! Aldo helped me choose the perfect Honda Accord for myself. I ended up purchasing a 2015 Honda Accord Sport for 5k under manufacturer price, and with more add ons than any other dealership near me. He was a wonderful and patient sales rep, I would recommend this Honda dealership to any one of my close friends and family. Great job! read more

Guillermo made the experience easy and pleasant. Fantastic customer service!

We had Jesse as a sales rep and couldn't have had a better experience. Even though we didn't end up buying a car he spent several hours helping us and was very knowledgable. At no time did we feel pressure to buy. My only complaint was that the coffee was empty. I would definitely recommend Jesse at McGrath to anybody in the market for a vehicle. read more

Went in for a airbag recall and they did a vehicle inspection , when they put my tires back on they cross threaded one of my lug nuts which I didn't find out about until later so I had to come back and waste half my day so they could replace the lug post. read more

Very poor customer service in the "service" department. 6 years I have been going to this dealership but they don't value loyal customers, so I will not be returning. The manager says I hope you'll come back... are you kidding me? Absolutely futile to even speak to him. I was told it would be an hour, ended up being 2 hours for oil change and tire rotation. The only reason there are 2 stars is because I have had a great adviser in the past. read more

The most dishonest dealership in Illinois! Not only they tried to finesse me on my trade in, they also tried to give me an intrest rate of like 100%+(their math was 72 months $900 a month which comes out to $64,000 after payoff for a car that was posted of $22,000, i would rgecommend to stay away from them read more

Had my car serviced for an A1 on 12-4-18. Called for a simple question regarding an oil leak. Guy in the service dept was short and a complete jerk. Ive been bringing my car there for the last 2 years with all maintainance work. Not going back. I flet like I was at Ed Debevic's read more

If you want to buy a car see George Othon. Had some unforseen problems with a used car I had bought from McGrath in December. George did not hestitate to help me with my issue and get me in a certified car within my budget last week. He spent the better part of a day taking the time to make sure I was taken care of. Dave McGrath also came out to meet me personally and make sure I was taken care of because of the past issues. Great customer service from George and McGrath. Thanks! read more

They spotted a car to me for over 2 weeks, financing fell through, they called us in stating we could re-sign and put 10k cash down to get the car. I declined and gave back the keys. They didn't know how to handle the situation. Finance guy had a bunch of people in and out of the office trying to swing a new deal. It was nice driving their car with their gas for 2 weeks! Stay away from this dealership! read more

We are first time buyers at McGrath Honda and are very happy. We purchased a Pilot and our Sales Consultant, Jessie and Finance Manager, Kenny were great. We had a trailer hitch installed as part of the purchase deal. Once we received the car, there was an issue with the trailer hitch and I contacted Shanna to discuss the issue with her. She responded back immediately and put me in touch with the Scott, the GM. Scott notified us that the issue would be resolved at no charge to us. I took the car in for the work and we had it back the same day. We are 100% satisfied customers and would recommend McGrath Honda to anyone looking for a car. The are a great dealership and we looking forward to doing business with them in the future. read more

I bought a new vehicle from this McGrath Honda recently. Not long afterward I noticed a 5 inch diameter dull spot on the side of the car that is seen on the car when the sun shines on it. I inspected closer and could see that the paint appeared to have been ground down in a circle around a tiny white spot where there had apparently been a small ding. There are small circular marks within this dull patch. I could see several layers of paint worn away by the central white spot. I had not been informed of this when I bought the car. I had originally seen the car parked in the customer parking lot where it may have received the ding by cars coming and going around it. The ding had been ground down, damaging and dulling the paint in this 5 inch circle around it. I contacted the salesman about this problem, and he responded by denying that it was done by them and told me to take it to a body shop. I called another Honda dealer who offered to have their porters try to buff the spot out to blend it in. They said that they had heard other stories about McGrath Honda. read more

Overall great experience at McGrath Honda in Elgin. Let me start by saying that I very much dislike the car purchasing experience. Prior to walking in the door, I did my own research on what car I wanted and shopped around. I came in knowing which car I wanted and the price I wanted. I worked with Bernie Haugh, who was a pleasure to work with - he gets 5 stars! He was a down-to-earth PERSON (not a "salesman") who knew his way around the vehicle. The day I went was definitely busy, and the process took a long time - but Bernie was always there checking up on us, making sure we were comfortable and kept us in the loop about what was going on. Once we got the financing, the environment changed. I cannot recall the gentleman we worked with, but he was definitely more imposing and "sales-y". (I wish Bernie took care of that too.. :) ) But, I survived. When doing the final check on the car, they forgot to install the cargo liner I opted for. But Bernie had no problem installing it himself. But overall, the experience was better than expected. I would definitely recommend McGrath Honda and especially Bernie to those looking for a new vehicle. read more

I was in the market looking for a car when I came across Mr. David Pounds Don't be fooled by his appearance. Yes, he is extremely young; however he is very knowledgeable about the car industry. I highly recommend McGrath Honda of Elgin!!! I did not expect to be purchasing a car, as 2 days prior to our purchase my car was hit and totalled. Derek Smorzewski took care of us, and I test drove an HR-V, Accord, and Civic. Loved the Civic!! We bought a 2017 Civic sedan, got a great deal and LOTS of bells and whistles that I'm enjoying. Derek was professional, knowledgebale, patient; took the time to show us all the features of the vehicles we were interested in and helped us compare. Go see Derek, he will definitely take care of you and give you the best service! read more

Great customer service, Anthony was a big help with our purchase. Made the whole process very easy!

I have been a customer of McGrath Honda for approximately 25 years or more! Over the years, my entire family has had their Hondas serviced at McGrath. We all appreciate the outstanding treatment we receive from staff and the precision of the repair work conducted by the technicians. Notably, Jerry Nepermann shines above and beyond the rest. As my advisor, he always goes the extra mile. He is courteous, prompt with his call-back responses, and explains technical information in an understandable manner. He takes time to address my concerns and is a personable representative willing to work with your busy schedule. Kudos to McGrath Honda of Elgin for employing Jerry Nepermann, an exceptional representative of the organization. read more

Problem description: I called McGrath Honda to explore my options for purchasing my daughter her first car on Friday July 14, 2017. At the end of the call I said I would stop in at the end of the day, I never gave them my phone number as I was working and didn't want to be bother while working, I had at least 2 or 3 calls from them, when I didn't answer the phone they started texting me on a number I never gave them per mission to call or text me on. When I arrive there as if they almost knew I was coming they sent another text asking when I was coming. I returned the text stating that I'm in your parking lot now but they never returned the text. I then went inside and sent a text I'm now inside, no return text. Eventually I found a sales person to help me. The sales person was very helpful. The following morning after a few calls back and forth as well as a couple of texts with Josh my sales person we came to a agreement. On the phone I said I'm in agreement with the price just text me a picture of the car. Josh the sales person did send the pictures and I responded within 10 minuets and said WE HAVE A DEAL. I will be there in 30 minutes or so, I was coming from St. Charles. When I arrived in about 40 minutes Josh met me and said we have bad news, we just sold your car 20 min ago that you were going to give to your daughter tomorrow for her 16th birthday. Then he tried to sell me another car that she hadn't seen, wasn't the same and didn't want. I had to go to another deal in Aurora and they held the car for me with no money down while drove over, they took very good care of us. read more

So I go into honda looking for a car. I've never been their before. It was my first time going their and also first time buying my very own car. The salesmen their were really nice and welcoming. I recommend this dealership ship. The process of buying a car didn't seem as hard as i thought it would be. They made it really easy and helped us out a lot for it to be possible for me getting my car. I really appreciate the effort and time they gave us. I am extremely happy i went when i did and got my car. A five star rating well deserved. read more

I went there to purchase a CRV. My sells-man was great. He was friendly, nice, and not pushy at all. The sale manager on the other hand was not. He did not want to work with my wife and I. We felt like he looked down on us because we're young. He talked to us really low, and paid no attention to what we were saying. There service department was horrible. My heat shield start to rattle a few days after I purchase my car, so I brought it back in. They told me that they had the shield in stock and will replace it free of charge. Later to find out from another Honda dealer that there was no heat shield on the car. Another issue, when I purchase the CRV it had brand new tires on. They told me that in order from them to certified the car they needed to put new tires on the car. So, they put the best available tires they had in stock on the car. After a few thousand of miles the car drove really loud, so I took it into the another Honda dealer and they told me the tires on the car were not made for the CRV. They were truck tires, and it would cost 1000 dollars to replace the brand new tires. read more

As an update to my previous review. As soon as I could I traded in my honda odyssey and purchased a Toyota Sienna. WOW what a difference the Toyota BLOWS AWAY the odyssey in every way, features, comfort, options, look and price. No big surprise but I lost money when I traded in the odyssey for the Toyota Sienna. Honda's are not what they used to be, they don't hold their value as in past years. read more

McGrath Honda of Elgin is the most unreasonable as well as a bait and switch Dealership Examples are over the last four years I was looking to possibly upgrade my Honda and they called me in about 4 times stating they have something for me. They knew the dollar amount we wanted to work with however either tried to sell me a much greater dollar amount vehicle or older then my original request. I have referred several friends to them and they have had issues with oil changes etc. My most recent was on March 3rd. I had an oil change and front end alignment. Had to bring back for the alignment due to still pulling to the right. I still thought there was an issue but I disregarded due to the COVID and everything up in the air. I finally brought in today June 12th and said yes it is out of alignment but I would have to pay again since it was about four months it is actually 3 months and 9 day. The manager stated he could give me a discount. I stated look I have only put on about 2,200 miles. He said well u may have hit pot holes. Needless to say I told him I will write bad reviews never refer purchase nor service work again I will go to Brilliance Honda even though they are not as convenient SO EVERYONE BE CAUTIOUS WITH MCGRATH OF ELGIN! read more

Just no! salesman was nice but buyers know that vehicles are priced to the highest point so it is foolish to pay full sticker. Also alarm and floor mats are not a reason to charge over $1k especially on a used car. After agreeing on a price, the manager/finance guy shows us the rates and how magical, the same fees happen to appear under a different fee type. People watch the paper work and fees, read Illinois vehicle laws. There is no pressure or requirement on dealer fees, etc... a used car priced at $6,500 should not end up costing 13k just saying. Just walk away and shop elsewhere! read more

This morning I was greeted by Guillermo who checked me in at the kiosk and showed me what I needed to do in case it was busy. I showed him what my last inspection repair requirements were and he patiently explained each one to me and even provided me with visuals so I can understand why I needed the repair. Amazing!! He then got his mgr involved Scott O., to help me organize all the logistics. I have been coming to McGrath over 10 years now and this exceptional service will definitely make me stay. Thank you. read more

I don't even know where to start. Prime example why some people hate car shopping and why car salesmen have a terrible reputation. I've had 3 different experiences with these guys. First 2, I was treated as if they did not care for my business. Even though price did not really matter since this was going to be a company car. Awful customer service, no urgency to help, never got the actual quote, waited 30 minutes and eventually left. Second time also had to leave, I was told someone would get back to me, never did. Ended up purchasing a luxury car, no comparison in customer service. Last experience was helping a family member......all I have to say is READ THE SMALL PRINT and don't believe everything the salesman tells you when trying to sell you a car. They will claim "they make mistakes like everyone else but it's your responsibility to read the fine print". Yes, people make mistakes but usually it doesn't cost the other person a lot of money for the lifespan of a loan. When they tell you the price and interest rate, it does not mean it's true. And one more thing.......I've never experienced anything like this. It took 5 hours to purchase a pre-negotiated and already picked vehicle. When they tell you "you're next" and 5 hours later you're still there, don't be surprised. They will also try to sell you all the extra accessories at the end, when you're extremely tired. Awful, awful, awful dealership. I have dealt with many dealerships in my lifetime and never experienced anything like this. And I'm finding out that I'm not the only one who will NEVER walk into that building again. read more

So I have come to the end of my used car purchase from McGrath Honda. First off, I have to mention that my purchase of my Wife's little 2008 Purple Scion back in 2010 was not a fun purchase. This was the first car the I ever bought that I ever felt like I was being screwed as I was signing the paperwork. The only reason I did not walk out the door was I wanted to keep my wife happy. Fast forward to August 2016. I am now buying another car for my wife. Great dealership, great customer service, feeling good about buying a newer car for my lovely bride of 29 years. The rep comes back with the trade in value on my car and presents the Carfax report and tells me that the car had a rear accident 7 days after it was purchased. Great another FU moment from McGrath Honda a company that I swore I would never purchase from again. This just solidified my commitment on them read more

I bought a brand-new Honda from McGrath in Elgin. I had a delicate situation with my trade and it took 2 months for me to decide to finally trade/buy. As someone who's been though a car buying process more times than I want to remember, I can say with a good dose of certainty that you'll be hard pressed to find a dealer that would take this kind of time talking to one customer and show this kind of patience. Jim Martinez was my point of contact but my salesman Jim Diller was nothing short of awesome. Very polite, very professional and very respectful. Jim Diller is somewhat new to car business but he's a hard worker and I invite anyone who visits their store to ask for him. I never felt rush by either one of them, even when I was indecisive or when I asked to test drive bunch of cars over several visits. They gave me an excellent price on the new car and I also got a great trade value for my car. Jim Martinez might come off as an adventurous individual but he's great to work with and he legit wants to help get you a good deal. Obviously store needs to earn profit. It's a business and people fail to understand that. I have walked away from sales managers who tell me they're selling me a car at a loss. That's just a lie and if anyone tells you that, walk away. Jim Martinez told me straight up he'd rather lose my business honestly than earn it dishonestly. He gave me upfront pricing and when I asked for additional discount, he told me "no" but more importantly, he explained to me why it's a "no" and that "no" earned my business. It may not make sense to someone reading this but truth goes a long way with me. You can buy a car anywhere, how you're treated in the process is what matters. The finance office was great too. They showed me my options, I respectfully declined, they showed me the options one more time with a mild push and after I declined again, it was left alone. Finance office is just as much of sales process as anything else. People will drop their guard down after talking about the car price and they think they're going to just sign paperwork but another sale process starts in F&I office. I've been in finance offices where they'll get aggressive, manipulative and will turn into a predator. This experience was far from that. They audio and video record inside the finance office which is very respectable. Protection for both sides. How the customer is treated is what makes the difference between bad experiences where the customer never returns and pleasant ones where the customer does come back. All in all, I highly recommend McGrath Honda in Elgin. If you read my other reviews, you'll see that I don't give out 5 stars easily. This one was one of the easiest 5 star reviews I've done. read more

I took my daughter here to buy her first car. The sales representative was a good help and very respectful. When we got to negotiations, he brought out the sales manager. He was abrasive, degrading, and rude to my daughter. She was so upset with her experience with the sales manager she started crying. My major issue is his inability to cater his sales approach. I purchased my 2015 Honda Civic from McGrath Honda. My sales associate is named David Pounds, young gentleman but very helpful and eager. He seems to know a lot about the business and is very personable. We spent a long time chatting and he wanted to make sure I was comfortable with my decision. I didn't plan on purchasing the vehicle that night but ended up doing it anyway. He helped me move everything out of my old vehicle into my new vehicle. Trey (not sure on spelling) was also great in the finance department. I think that is the fastest I have ever filled out paperwork on a car. Kevin Schwartz - Great Sales & Service My wife and I were looking for a Honda CRV Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle. I had been looking for just the right car for a couple months. I had visited several dealerships around the greater Chicagoland area and what was most interesting to me was the difference in customer service and overall attention to customer satisfaction that I received on my visits. Kevin and his team were by far the best on all counts. He had a clear sense of what I wanted, pointed my wife and I in the right direction, and was never pushy in the process. In fact, it was actually fun! Before we knew it, we had the perfect car, and I mean perfect. It was not only the right car, it was the right price. Thanks Kevin, I will definitely recommend you to my friends when they need a new or used car. -Paul read more

I had a very bad accident with my '08 Odyssey, and needed to replace it. Thinking that a pre owned vehicle was the way to go, I spent weeks looking at that option. Not the best. Went in to McGrath after having called in and spoken to Matt, and they took care of me. Exceptionally. From the moment I walked in (and that first night, it was myself and my three boys aged 12, 10, and 8) they made sure I was taken care of. I was set up with a salesman, but frankly he was more than that. Everyone seemed to know who I was. Everyone worked as a team. I really appreciated that. My sales associate was Anthony, and he's just great. Good at his job - of course - but a good person as well. As a single woman making a major purchase like this, like it or not, sometimes it isn't easy. Salespeople can discriminate. Anthony made it easy, he made it fun, and I felt I had someone who understood my needs and my financial parameters. As well, Kenny W. made sure I came out feeling pretty good financially. Don't go anywhere else. If you know what you want, they're your people. If you don't, they'll help you figure it all out.
