My husband and I drove up to Elgin Volkswagen from Saint Louis to hopefully purchase a Toyota RAV4 Prime we found online. The trip certainly ended up to be worth it! Our salesman, Habib, was friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in, and arrived to work early to make sure everything was ready. He is a nice young man who seemed to care that we as his customers were satisfied with our purchase, and that we are! Bad. Had a good deal posted that I went in for. The car suddenly was converted to a loaner and was no longer available as I sat there. They had a loaner car available but didn't tell me they stripped the car of its upgraded wheels (major part of what made it upgraded). Trod to start selling me the loaner car at new car pricing. Staying at a nearby hotel, I stopped at the Elgin VW dealer and spoke with the first person to approach me, Habib. I explained I was from out of town and was just interested in sitting in a couple models and getting some info on trim levels for the vehicle in which I was interested. I reiterated I was not going to buy a car from him or this dealership. Regardless, Habib showed me around, answered all my questions and gave me the info I requested. If he was located closer to where I live, I would like to have given him the opportunity to negotiate a sale. When visiting Elgin VW, I hope you will give Habib a chance. Just wanted to share my experience at Elgin Volkswagen. I always go there for my oil changes, and they're usually fantastic. Last Tuesday (June 10th), I scheduled an oil change, a recall repair, and to get two flat tires fixed. Irv helped me out, and as always, he was super nice. So, Irv checked out my tires and said the right front one was beyond repair completely shot due to exposed wires. I have an extended warranty through Fidelity Insurance, so I figured I was covered. But they said the warranty didn't apply because of the exposed wires. We went to take a look, and sure enough, there were wires and a nail in the sidewall. However, it definitely wasn't from alignment issues my alignment's always been good according to their own techs. They also suggested my tires might have been underinflated. Having worked at a tire shop for 12 years, I knew better! It was clearly a shifted belt that only showed up in one spot. I also mentioned that since I get my service done there regularly, I expect my tire pressure to be checked and rotated each time especially since I pay for tire rotations! The tech's tread depth measurement technique was...interesting. He seemed pretty unsure of himself, so I let it go. Anyway, Irv then said my warranty was void because the tread was too shallow apparently it has to be 4/32" or more. I checked my contract with Fidelity, and it actually says unlimited warranty for 60 months, and covers tread depths of 2/32" and higher. I showed Irv the contract, but we didn't get anywhere.Then, out of the blue, they hit me with a nearly $4500 estimate bill for other services I supposedly needed. That was a huge red flag, especially since I've been going there for service and they've never mentioned anything like this before. It felt like they were trying to make up book hours or something. Our car-buying experience at Fox Valley VW was nothing short of exceptional! Our first visit was on 5/23 to check out a used VW Passat for our son. Unamused, he found another used car; however, it was already sold. After test driving a few other pre-owned cars, the conversation shifted to leasing a new car. We took a 2025 VW Jetta SE for a spin. The ride was amazing; however, our son, was interest in looking at another car for sale from a private seller. Working through the numbers, it became glaringly apparent to our son that choosing a new car was a better decision. Reflecting on our experience, my wife and I returned to Fox Valley VW on 5/30 to trade in our 2023 Palisade Limited for a 2025 Atlas SEL Premium R-Line. What we genuinely appreciate about this process is that there was no wrangling or high-pressure sales tactics. The level of professionalism and transparent integrity demonstrated by Dan Latcu (sales associate), Alex Williams (sales manager), and last but not least, Joey Laudando (finance) was impeccable! I'm ready to write the check to purchase a car when Oner Suha, the manager tries to slip in a $400 charge for some type of auto theft deterrent that "they put on all their cars". It's clearly a scam where Oner gets to pad his profits by adding on a notoriously obvious ploy to jack dealer profits. He refused to take it off so I walked out. I felt bad for the salesperson because I had been a bluebird sale up to that point. Stay away while this management team is still employed. read more

I had an SOS light on my 2020 Jetta go off 2 times, "they fixed it" both times and was told by service that its under warranty for 1 year. Maybe 3 months later the SOS light has come back on and the service department told me that it was only under warranty for 12,000 miles and now they wont fix a faulty part they keep putting in my car. read more

Avoid this dealership at all costs. I had emailed with the sales people during the week about purchasing a new Atlas, and on Wednesday they provided a breakdown of the out-the-door price as well as a picture of the Monroney sticker and all of the vehicle information, including the number of miles currently on the car (16 miles). We agreed to go in Saturday to finalize the purchase, and the sales team confirmed everything with me Friday evening as well as Saturday morning. After driving an hour to get to the dealership, while doing a walk through of the vehicle prior to signing papers, we were informed that the vehicle did not have 16 miles on it as they had represented, it actually had 5,000! Not exactly a small mistake. When they were unable to find a comparable vehicle that actually aligned with our agreement, they offered to "make up for it" by giving us $1,000 off the agreed upon price. Needless to say, we left without purchasing a vehicle there. read more

Don't bother with this dealership. They have no appreciation for brand or dealership loyalty. In the past 25 years I have owned 6 VW's including the one I am driving, the last three were purchased from Elgin VW, I wanted to get a new gas powered vehicle and get out of my VW ID4 lease early due to life/job change. With all that said I am aware I was going to take a financial hit, but they would not work on trade in value or the MSRP in anyway. They presented me a $900 lease payment and knew it was not feasible, but had no desire to help me at all. Guess I will be looking for a new brand / dealership in the near future. read more

Drove almost an hour away here to possibly trade in my lease early and to test drive a used car. There were a lot of issues with my lender that made the sales staff go through more hoops than they had to but they were persistent and went out of their way to get me in my car and at the price I was comfortable with. You don't get this kinda of service anywhere. Tom Ibrahim & Adnan Hebibovic took my experience above and beyond my expectations. This was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. The sales staff I worked with was very nice. I was purchasing a vehicle with 22 miles on it, it was sitting on the showroom floor. Most of the deal had been done via phone and I sat, waiting for the paperwork to sign for approximately 4 hours and they had only one other customer. At various times I would ask if we were close and I was told each time the delay was because they were busy. When I finally was able to sign I pointed out the wrong address was placed on my paperwork and the finance dept did not want to correct it, I assume because it was past 9 pm by then. They said it didn't matter. Once I was able to sign and drive out of the garage, I learned that the steering wheel adjustments would not work. Two different salesmen came out and were yanking and pulling on the steering wheel to the point I told them to leave it alone. I was told there was nothing I could do that night (service was closed, so that made sense) and would need to drive the two and a half hour round trip back there to get it evaluated. I instead made the service appointment in Naperville which went very well. After two weeks I hadn't received my account or payment information. I called Elgin VW twice over 10 days to speak with finance to get the information. Both times I was told they were busy and that they would call me back. I did not receive a call from them. I contacted customer service who advised me to call the dealership, when I explained what happened they indicated they would have the dealership call me. I ended up going back and forth with customer service via email and X as well as a couple phone calls, Elgin VW never called and customer service advised they could not provide my with my payment information. I purchased the vehicle the last week of October and finally got my account information the first week of December after spending over an hour on the phone that day and an untold number of hours over the five weeks in prior attempts. Once the paperwork was signed and the car was purchased, it seemed no one from Elgin VW lifted a finger to help me. At no point was I ever rude or disrespectful to anyone that I dealt with. The folks on the phone have nothing to do with any of the issues I experienced. Things happen, mistakes happen, that is how life goes. This experience was something completely different. I have never experienced worse service anywhere much less having the experience continue over the course of weeks. I love the vehicle but regret, fully, going to Elgin VW to make my purchase. Bait and switch service. Yesterday I got a coupon for a $79.00 full synthetic oil change. I scheduled an appointment for the next day. I was told it would be $113.00 and I mentioned the coupon. I was told that was for most models, just not mine. The service manager explained that the coupon was for up to 5 quarts of synthetic and mine took 6. I told him to put 5 quarts in and I would add the 6th. That's $33.00 for a quart of oil! That's bait and switch. read more

I bought a c43 2018 two weeks ago with Adnan, I noticed there was a sound coming from the car and i asked the finance manager who was working with me to check it out, he drove around the block and said he doesn't hear anything and i wasn't confident in his answer to i asked him to check with the service. He said the service was closing and he'll see if they're still there and luckily they were. Couple minutes went by and he said that everything was good so as soon as i came home, it said low tire pressure and so i thought that was normal you know the weather!? so couple days went by everything was great and i noticed the same tire had low tire pressure and again i filled it with air and it kept reoccurring. Something clearly wasn't adding up, i called Elgin Volkswagen today to let them know what was going on and they told me they couldn't do anything because it was the first time they were hearing about this issue...and the manger Suhan told me there was nothing they can do and wasn't nice about it either. I went to discount tire and they told me i needed to repair the rim or get a new one which is more than my actual car payment. its absolutely ridiculous how Elgin Volkswagen can't even fix this I got this car from them and two weeks ago, and they told me it's my fault?! The manager told me that when they put the new tires they would've seen if there is a crack in the rim which is complete bs. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP!! Had a car for a few months and found out AC system had a leak and Freon was completely empty. When I contacted them about the issues they would not offer any repairs after months of having the car and just using ac for first time since purchase. The repair costs almost 2000 total. They will lie to your face even if there are problems with the car. Also, car was sold with only one key fob and sales representative stated he would order a second one free of charge. While looking at a used Tiguan, the GM came out and said if he gave us a price that was nuts would we buy the car that day. I said depends how nuts the deal was. I know that the word "nuts" is relative but we put that word in the same category as "amazing" as I think most people would. So he lured us in with that comment. The first price they gave us was the price that was already listed that we already knew about. What a major disappointment. We went back and fourth only for them to come down less than 5%. Not knowing much about that car to make a decision, we left and spent the next day looking at other cars including other Tiguans. We came to the realization that the price they last quoted us was a good price but far from "nuts" in our opinion. We went back in and gave them a chance to put their money where their mouth was. We offered a price that was another $500 off. The GM declined. We made one last attempt and made an offer that was only $300 less than their last offer. The GM declined. We walked away. It wasn't that we couldn't afford another $300 but to me I felt we were lured in with false pretenses by the GM and I wasn't going to reward that behavior. BTW the salesperson was great and had no issue with him. It was unfortunate that we couldn't close the deal being so close but at the end of the day it's just not about the money - it's also about the integrity of who you are dealing with. I recommend that the GM change his tactics because to us it felt much like bait and switch. read more

My experience has been exceptional so far! I purchased my Tiguan in 2012 at the Chicago Downtown location. Unfortunately, my service experience has been less than great. Elgin was able to get me in, drive me to my destination while I waited for the inspection, and give me a loaner. I've never received a quote for what, actually, only needed to be done to remedy the service light. There's always a few thousand more tacked on. Roberto has been excellent to work with and Alejandro was very nice driving me. It's an hour each way, but this will be my new service location! read more

We went and had every intention to take our business to them yet it seemed like this was one of the most difficult struggles to even be acknowledged. To be fair, when we first arrived, we asked for privacy as we know how car sales people can be quite pushy. They respected that. However, as we developed a rapport it was clear and obvious we wanted to go further with specific models. Deposit was left and we waited, and waited for some sort of response. Once we heard from them, we went and inspected a model requested. We began the "negotiations" but it was met with a confusing reply and basically a no. We thought we would get a counter offer of some sort but nothing. We had to finally ask them what would be their bottom line, but it felt like we had to initiate this. I just never thought that we would have to do all the work to get things going, it felt like we had to earn their business rather than the other way around. I suspect that the breakdown/ miscommunication may have occurred between sales rep and manager. Either way we felt undeserving of their business. read more

Just needed a wiper blade... pretty simple. Parts manager came to the desk within 10 seconds of ringing the bell. Had it in stock - and shockingly cheaper than online. VW uses dumb locks for the wiper blades so literally no parts stores have them. Have to grt them from VW or online. For that we drop a star. Haha. I went in looking for a car and I dealt with a sales person who was not considerate of my feelings. I mistakenly traded my car and I know it was my mistake, just wish this place or any car dealership can be more considerate. Instead this sale person was laughing telling me that it was like ripping a band-aid. I wish I never step into that dealership and I know it was my stupid mistake for signing paperwork. I ended up returning that car, but they again where no help in locating my car. I did my own investigation and found where my car was, but it was too late to get it back. My plates were transferred to my new car. 6 weeks later, I received a temporary plate to place in my window because plates can't be transferred on lease vehicles. Nice! Unethical and no integrity. Bought a car and broke down the SAME DAY. Engine overheated, steam coming out of radiator; also found out later there are multiple engine oil leaks. Had to immediately take it to the closest repair shop. Called the dealer and "everyone is in a meeting. They will call you back." Did not call me back. Went into the dealer the next evening to see my salesman Jeff, who seemed to know why I was there. Sales manager Marco took down all the information and said the General Manager George Poulos would call me back tomorrow. Sounded like they might be of help. Didn't call me back, so I called him. He couldn't care less about stealing our money and dumping off a terrible car on us. Claiming it is "As Is" apparently means you should expect that it breaks down the same day even though we told you to your face that the engine and everything mechanically checked out ok. Told me to bring it in and their mechanics will look at it. Shouldn't they have done that already. I put like 10 miles on it since I bought it. I don't even know if it will make it back to the dealer (engine OVERHEATING). Explained that it needs a new radiator and thermostat. Anything beyond a minor fix will be at your expense, I was told. He thinks that means he was willing to work with me--why should I be so upset? Thousands of dollars spent and they don't stand by what they sell. Make you sign a shady arbitration agreement "in case we end up in court". My experience--they don't care about you. They lie to you--yes, it's a lie if someone tells you it's mechanically in good condition and it needs thousands of dollars of repair--take your money, and say it's your fault for buying this car. No, it's your fault Elgin VW for treating customers this way. Stay far away. There are other businesses who will respect you and handle business ethically. read more

Business owner never called as promised, then wrote a B.S. reply that there was a 2 year expiration date. The credit was issued with no expiration because they charged VW for the full 500.00 at the time. When I entered, I met Jeff Gossage who was a no pressure and well informed sales professional. I had what seemed to be a difficult situation, viz. getting out of a current lease and then leasing another VW. My beloved 2009 VW Rabbit was totaled a couple weeks ago by a distracted driver. I needed a new car quickly, and as the GTI was my attainable dream car (versus unattainable like say, an Audi RS 7 or R8), I looked at used GTI models in the area. But it wasn't long before my husband found a new 2017 GTI for an amazing price at Elgin VW. Elgin isn't close to where I live and I didn't have time to go there during the week, but Sandy (our first contact at Elgin VW) never pressured us to come in ASAP like most other dealerships did. She was also willing to discuss the price and details of the car over email, which *many* other dealerships wouldn't do. (Pro tip for dealerships: telling potential customers to "come in and talk", and ignoring their questions, when they email you is a huge turnoff. It's the digital age so get with the times!) Sandy doesn't work on Saturdays so Jeff G. took over for her when we saw the car and he was also very nice and accommodating. Finance manager Daniel B. was also a pleasure to work with. He tried to sell us on an extended warranty but wasn't pushy about it, and I know it's just a part of his job. I have no idea what Elgin VW is like on the service side but the sales department provided a wonderful experience, overall! read more

This dealership really treats you like family. Rob was my salesman, Bruce assisted him on a few things, Marco was the manager. All three of these gentlemen were awesome! Rob even met with me at the dealership on his day off. Ended up leasing a VW from them and felt right at home. All three were professional, attentive, made sure my wife and I understood everything, and very knowledgeable about the vehicles. I don't think I could have found a better lease deal around. This dealership uses no pressure at all and allows you to breath and take your time. Returned to the dealership for a free car wash and was surprised at how clean the car was. Love the fact that they offer free washes. We will be leasing from them from this point forward. My wife and I had a great experience at the dealership and would suggest it to anybody. read more

This a review of used Chrysler 200 I bought from this dealership in August 2016. I have nothing but problems with this vehicle and I cannot believe a credible dealership would even have this car for sale on their lot. First, they sold me the car without any oil in it yet, the oil indicator read 100%. The car died put me a few times so I brought it back to service and they told me there was nothing wrong and that I should contact Chrysler! I brought to my mechanic and he told me right away that there is not any oil. It's not leaking but it's just consuming a lot oil. Like 4 quarts every 1000 miles. So, I have had the car for about 6 months and have only put about 4k miles on it but I'm on my 4th oil change. Worst car buying experience I encountered and I have bought at least 10 cars. This place is shady and I would never recommend anyone buying a used car from this dealership. I mean, who sells someone a car without any oil?!?! Then claims they did nothing wrong?! read more

Purchased a 2017 Toyota Corolla. The purchase was smooth except when I left. The sneaky salesman told me they only had one key and no floor mats. The additional key is $230.00 and floor matts are $150.00. He told me after I purchased the car. After complaining to the manager and Volkswagen customer service. I was only able to get the cheap floor mats and no key. I will never buy a screw from them. Stay away!! read more

I bought a 2021 Atlas from them over a year ago and the maintenance care package that I pay for monthly. I bought this package bc I am not car savvy and want it to be taken care of regularly. The package is for every 10,000 miles or when it's due for an oil change. They are supposed to do a full check of my Truck and the past few times, they didn't even point out things that even I noticed. As someone that doesn't know the ins n outs of a car, I have to trust they are doing a full inspection of my car. My last 2 visits I needed a tire rotation and alignment and the check engine came on and when I left nothing was done both times or even mentioned. I had to finally make a specific appointment for those things and they said I was just now out of warranty and should have gotten my tired rotated 30k miles prior. We asked why it was never addressed and they had no answer. The guy was new and not helpful at all. They didn't even offer a discount or solution as to why all these things weren't done or how to get it fixed. Poor service, IDK why I pay for this package if all they are going to do is an oil change and terrible car wash, that is always half done. I feel I am being taken advantage of because they assume a Woman wouldn't know the difference! I will not going back to buy a car from them in the future. read more

Absolutely the worst dealership experience I have ever had dropped my car off for some warranty work was told by one service advisor that it would only take four hours then when I called to verify my appointments I was told by another service advisor that the warranty work would take all day then received a call at 4:30 in the afternoon that hey we need to keep the car overnight I would've liked to been informed that it would have to be an overnight thing. Then to come and pick up the car and the part it had to stay in overnight for and get repaired (it was a side skirt) looks EXACTLY the same as when I dropped it off. The service writers excuse......the car is bent. Your a dealership bringing in thousands of dollars a month in repairs and you couldn't make a PLASTIC SIDE SKIRT FIT RIGHT. by the way spent 5 minutes in my rainy driveway removed 1 5.5 mm bolt and the side skirt sat how it was supposed too. ONE BOLT I was out of a car for two days and I fixed it my driveway in 5 minutes. If that doesn't say something about the competence of this dealer I don't know what does. (Edit) totally forgot too they did an alignment in October still pulled hard left and drove exactly the way it did when I dropped it off and when I asked for the alignment print out I was told there wasn't one. Every alignment I've ever done I've handed the print out over. But mine was just no where to be found I guess. Seems kinda suspicious that the car drove exactly the same and the one piece of paper that shows the customer that any work was done was just no where to be found read more
