We had a very nice meal here. First, they brought two pieces of cornbread w a scoop of butter. Just right for cornbread-- not too much sugar and it was moist. I had the Pioneer Pot Roast and my wife had the Strawberry Salad. My dinner tasted great-- meat was tender w a little brown gravy. Very little fat in meat which was very good. Had mashed potatoes and green beans ( bacon and a little onion) just like the picture in the menu. Mashed potatoes were good w traditional brown gravy. My wife enjoyed her salad and the strawberry dressing was a welcome change for her. Note that the dressing seemed to have a strawberry yogurt base to it. We split a piece of "Branson Traffic Jam" pie-- strawberry, cherry, rhubarb w vanilla ice cream. We highly recommend the pie. Service was good. Great service. Able to accommodate 56 of us in a private dining area. The pot pie had an alright crust commented one person however the group rated it between 1 and 2 stars. My cat fish plate was ok. Nothing really stood out to make me say any more or less then this post. The group's overall rating of the restaurant was an average of 3 stars. There was some unpleasant comments about the settlement of the bill and all agree the way the restaurant handled it was described as unorganized. When we checked in, we were told the wait time was 20-30 minutes. We decided to stay but ended up waiting around 45 minutes. When we were finally sat, there were so many empty tables! Clean tables everywhere! This is incredibly frustrating to see when you've just waited 45 minutes for seemingly no reason. I don't know if they were short on staff or what but this aspect was ridiculous. I ordered the chicken pot pie which was delicious. The crust was flaky and so good. My food was served piping hot which I love. I had the mashed potatoes and gravy and fries ( I know I know...2 potatoes but I don't like green beans). These were good too. And the honey cornbread was perfection. The service was good too. Wouldn't given 5 stars had it not been for the long wait while a bunch of tables were empty. Definitely worth a try. read more

This spot was very neat. They are located inside a little mall, so while you wait for your table you can do some shopping. It's the typical Branson gift shops, touristy stuff but still fun. We only waited about 15 minutes for a table, our waiter was very attentive and seemed to really like his job. There was a lot of hustle and bustle, we were all asked to join in and sing a few songs while we were there. It was nice to hear all the people stop eating/talking and participating! They bring you complimentary cornbread, with plenty of butter! It's like a scoop of ice cream on top! The cornbread is so moist and delicious, it's a sweet cornbread- my favorite. We ordered fried green tomatoes, I enjoyed them and thought they were seasoned perfectly. My husband ordered fish and chips, if you read any of my other reviews you'll see this is his go-to. He said it was frozen, the menu didn't imply it was fresh, but he said it wasn't bad at all. I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered the BLT. It was a lot bigger than I expected it to be! I was only able to eat half of it. The fries were crispy with great seasoning salt. I had to take some of the bacon off my sandwich *gasp* but please remember I wasn't that hungry! I really enjoyed what I ate. They have a great selection of desserts, including sugar-free options. The only downside was the booth we sat at wasn't clean, the crack in the cushion had some food. I'm sure a place like that it's hard to clean between every customer. It didn't bother me too much, they were constantly sweeping the floors so I know they take cleaning seriously. If you're in Branson and looking for a good meal that won't ruin your day, stop by. After you eat you can walk it off or there's a movie theater in the building, you could take a nap! read more

This has been a favorite of ours for many years. We have almost always eaten one of their legendary specialties-the pot pie, fish, etc. These meals have always been delicious, and I am sure they still are. However, this trip we decided to have a lighter lunch so we could enjoy a piece of their pie, also. (As some of you know, it is extremely easy to overeat in Branson. ) I ordered a soup and sandwich combo. The soup lived up to expectations. But the sandwich was not even mediocre. It had such a small piece of ham I had to hunt for it. This was 1/2 a sandwich , and the meat was part of a thin slice of deli ham. It had an oversized piece of lettuce and a too thickly slice of tomato. It was not even close to a poorly made homemade sandwich. It should have been almost a work of art at the price they charged. This is not the place to eat in Branson. Cracker Barrel wanna be. The food was terrible. I am nearing 60 and pretty well travelled. The food was really below average. I had the fried chicken, overcooked and lacking seasoning. Sweet potato fries and baked beans tasted like they have been sitting since yesterday. My wife had the meatloaf, very average. My mom had their soup and did not care for it all. I am positive the cornbread had an ingredient that had spoiled. When brought it out is smelled like a sour mop. I thought it was just me. All three of us, three different pieces were sure it had turned. It was really bad. Really bad kitchen. This place ranks in my top three worst food ever. Service was great, fast and the place was clean. We were there about 3:00 in the afternoon and it was almost empty no excuse for the kitchen being busy. My wife tried to order from kids menu due to health conditions that require her to eat very small meals but was told she wasn't allowed. Instead they gave her a small discounted burger that cost $13.99. Service was ok but overpriced for basic burger and chips. With one ice tea, water, and tip came to $40. Our serve had a "deer in the headlights moment" when she saw that and I think she had forgotten to put in the order. Two of our 6 guests didn't get their drinks for 20 minutes. OMG This place is Great!! Since COVID, my taste has changed. Lots of foods I enjoyed before do not "taste" good to me. I've wasted so MUCH money on food I throw away after a few bites...... if I even swallowed it. We were on holiday with family in Branson and had already had a few disappointing meals. I was really REALLY hungry when we came into this restaurant. I ordered a patty melt, which I've been craving, but can't find any in TN made with Rye bread. Well, McFarlain's did and WOW, was it GOOD!!! I practically danced on the table I was SO excited to get a meal that was Tasty!!! I don't remember what everyone else ordered, but we all walked out full and Happy!! It's in a strange place.... in a small sort of mall. This place is pitiful. We had a party of 11 and waited for 45 minutes to be seated. Our party was split over two tables. One table received their drinks and bread immediately and placed their order. Our waitress took our drink order and appetizers, but we did not receive until after the other table had received their entrees. At this point, we had been sitting for over 30 minutes. After ordering our meals which never came. I asked the server who served the other table to check on our order since our waitress never came back. After an hour wait our waitress returned and said our order was given to another table and offered the excuse they were under staffed, but our order was just being prepared. She then became belligerent and rude. We offered to pay for our entrées and we were leaving. She said just leave. We complained to the manager but he could care less. read more

I give this four stars according to Branson location. What that means is we haven't really found any great, knock your socks off food in Branson at all. There just doesn't seem to be the attention to taste and quality there. I think they may rely on the constant stream of people attending nearby attractions. That being said I give this four stars for breakfast. Mcfarlands is a large restaurant inside of an indoor mall. It's a super cute place that is old-fashioned farm themed. The wait staff is friendly and the prices are good. We have only tried their breakfast but was very pleasantly surprised with the quality. Their biscuits came with homemade strawberry rhubarb, cherry preserves which was very tasty. The all you can eat' pan cakes have a hint of vanilla to them and are golden brown. We had a stupendous time here for breakfast today! We have never laughed so hard. Part of our group at at one of the rising tables and minor of them noticed the table moving until it was over grandma 's shoulders! Haha! We had amazing service. Very prompt, knowledgeable and courteous. The food was excellent. Everyone loved everything. Absolutely no complaints. I had the chocolate chip pancakes and they were by far the best I've ever had. We LOVE this restaurant!! A few years ago we ate their fried green tomatoes, and they were just as good this time around! We also had the pot roast dinner and it didn't disappoint either. Of course we then had to have a slice of chocolate cake to top off our meal. All of it was so good! We noticed their cinnamon rolls that day, couldn't get them out of our minds, so went back this morning for those! They are huge and warm and gooey-good. Bought one for tomorrow's breakfast too. Our waitress was very kind, making sure we had to-go cups filled with water and tea. We come to Branson every few years. We will definitely be back! One last thing: it's cozy there, booths or tables. We ate here last night (2 adults, a 5 year old, and a 2 year old) we were seated right away and our waiter was SO friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was so fun and inviting! I got the roast, my husband the chicken fried chicken, and my kids got a hamburger and corn dogs. All the food was delicious, the cream corn was AMAZING, my son ate every bite (which is rare) and my husband said his was exactly what he was wanting. We got a coconut cream pie slice to go, and let me tell you... that was the best coconut pie I've ever had in my life. The dipping sauce that was served was something I have never tasted before, a pineapple coconut taste, unique flavor. Very delightful. The portion was large, and my fiancé finished it off. He ordered the McFarlain's Special and said it was really good. Our 3yr old had the chicken fingers and fries. We sampled that too, and those were the best chicken fingers I have ever tasted. As soon as I see the wait to be seated sign I immediately send a silent ughh as the wait me be long. Waitress within 2 minutes walks over with a organic smile and warm greet. We are seated with menus in front of us. Waitress waltzing over with great energy and begins the order. First thing is fried green tomatoes. When they come they are piping hot on paper. The only down side to them is they are sitting in a kid size pool of grease. I immediately removed them and put them on napkins to soak up what was still Left over. The tomatoes were seasoned well and complimented the ranch perfectly. Afterwards appeared a cute little side salad on a tin plate with cornbread thick enough to be served as dessert. I had raspberry vinaigrette on top of the crisp cool lettuce and accompanying veggies. The salad was satisfying but the bread was hard and the butter on top was not helping. I had to take a life saving gulp of lemon water to ensure I would make it through to the next course. Finally the pot pie arrives with a bed of pilaf. The rice was cold to touch and the same for the pie. The waitress came and jolted off which the cold plate only to return moments later. This saved the meal! Potpie had big chunks of white breast meat covered by a flaky buttered crust. The first bite was an explosive symphony of creamed gravy and veggies! Every bite after made me do a happy foot shuffle under the table. With an atmosphere of relaxed on point customer service, I can say McFarlain's is worth it read more

We enjoy eating at McFarlain's. Food: I would call it "comfort food": meatloaf, roast, cornbread, etc. it is all very good. I do not like sweet potatoes however, the sweet potato fries fantastic!
