They decided to charge me double for a order that should've been canceled. I called multiple times and tried to reach out to a manager. They said that they would return my call and I never heard anything. I will be down there in a few weeks and planning on talking face to face, but then again I really don't want to have anything to do with the place. The food is basically mediocre at best and if you don't go swimming the entertainment is bad!! Our group of friends decided to have lunch at this popular restaurant that is next to Table Rock lake. Maria provided excellent and friendly service to our table. The food is casual but tasty with good prices. The ambience is casual but fun and a lot of people. It is a large sized open air restaurant with views of the lake. The Rock Island Grill offers one menu for the indoor dining experience and a smaller selection (food truck option) for the outdoor bar. Our party decided to go for the indoor menu due to the more options available. We were seated fairly quickly and the waitress took our order too. Then we waited and waited and waited some more. Overall experience was not great. The food was so-so. Guests in the party tried variety of burgers, wedge salads, pork sandwich and the ahi tuna tacos. The food was overpriced for the quality served. The salad was served on warm plates and caused the lettuce to get limp. French fries were not fried well. I don't think they had enough staff for the crowd. Waitress was not able to return to refill drinks or bring back bar drinks. Overall experience-beautiful location, missed opportunity to create an atmosphere and customer experience. No reason for me to go back. read more

The dining area has a beautiful view of the lake, and the food was very good, Great selection of sandwiches . Our service was terrible, I realize they were busy BUT we got our food and didn't have any silverware, she finally brought 3 sets when there were 5 adults dining, we had to ask for salt and pepper, twice for to go boxes. We were Charlie's regulars and absolutely loved it. First weekend of the summer, and we headed to what we thought was Charlie's, to find it had changed ownership. The menu was completely different, the only fresh vegetable was Brussel sprouts (yuck). We waited a very long time for our food...very long . When it came, one order was completely the wrong steak (rib eye instead of filet), and the salad dressing was not the one that was ordered. So we had to wait longer for the correct steak to come. The food was ok. Nothing fabulous, any other steakhouse type food. Our server was very nice, grateful that we didn't get upset about the steak or orders. When we paid we did notice they had taken off the price of my steak. (We didn't ask for that) Oh and what restaurant does not give you napkins with your silverware?? Used to be Charlie's... loved Charlie's. Came back this year to find it's now Rock Island Grill. Something isn't right with how it's ran. Came on Saturday night and watched the chef come out of the kitchen and motion to his staff "no more!" Maybe give them a few more months to iron things out. read more

The setting is great overlooking the lake, we came by boat and walked up to the restaurant. The staff is extremely polite and the food was awesome! We had the chicken nachos as a starter and the plating was beautiful. My husband had the fillet with the flashes brussel leaves and the mashed potatoes were incredible! I had the coconut tempura shrimp and they were the best I've had! We will definitely be coming back! read more

I wish I had looked up the restaurant reviews before eating here. I ordered the fish tacos. The description says and herb butter fried Pollick. In my mind I thought herb butter fried and panfried. That's OK I can handle Pollick deep fried. When I couldn't handle what's the pico de gallo. Either the pico de gallo was fermenting or they put vinegar on it. I am Mexican I've been a Mexican neighborhood you don't put vinegar and pico to Gallo. It made the tacos disgusting. They also put queso fresco, or something that resembles Queso fresco in the taco as well but it was extremely wet and salty. My husband ordered some chicken wings but he thought they tasted old. And I understand what he was saying. The chicken wings when you got to the bone tasted strong flavor of chicken. So I understand what he was trying to say. I make chicken wings at home and they don't taste stronger when I get to the bone. But I do only purchase organic chicken at home. My husband also ordered a hamburger asked for the hamburger to be I'm rare and it ended up coming out well done. Bartender was very friendly to us as we sat at the bar. I enjoyed his company but he was the only person running the show. Zero wait staff: HE WAS IT! Mgmt is pathetic! This is their fault! The bar counter was wet and or sticky. I actually washed my hands 2 times while I was there because it was so sticky. I went to grab a napkin from the napkins in holder there were none. This bar had no cocktail napkins. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen. All these telltale signs no wait staff no napkins poor quality food tell me nobody really comes here except maybe to have the drinks at the bar and maybe a little bar food. I don't understand how people who are so called chef's decide to mess up an easy recipe as a pico de gallo. Vinegar? WRONG! Like I said, it probably was fermenting. The setting was awesome and the atmosphere was good. We ate at the bar had a cheese burger it was awful! It reminded me of when I was in school and we would have hamburgers for lunch!
