Friend and I stopped by here after going to OMOMO in the same shopping plaza. First, I hate this plaza - the drivers are atrocious, the parking spots are small, and the design of the parking lot is maddening and dangerous. Friend was driving, so I happily agreed to come along, but I wouldn't drive here myself. Maybe if I absolutely have to stop by the SchoolsFirst - which luckily is at the edge of Yale Loop - I'd come here. But anyway, onto the McDonald's. Decent place - used to be 24/7, which was great when I was attending school at UCI and had late night cravings. Got a burger and fries to go with my OMOMO avocado smoothie - burger didn't taste amazing - pretty much reminded me why if I'm craving a burger, I'd go to In-n-Out or The Stand, not a McDonalds. Only really went here because friend had dental surgery and couldn't eat anything else but the fries. The fries were okay. A bit salty. I like meaty fries like the ones at Wendy's. Usually, this place isn't that bad but the last couple times all I ordered was a quarter pounder cheese deluxe, and they made me go to the front of the restaurant and sit in a parking space marked for a drive-through pick up out of four spots all were taken by people who just went inside. I was lucky to even get a spot and even at that I had to go in and go search for my order because I ordered a quarter pounder with cheese. It was an extra four minutes. They told me this is ridiculous. I've never had to wait at a McDonald's and go into a new spot. Why do I keep coming back here? Because it's down the block and it's very convenient I suspect. I have yet to receive my order correctly during my one time a week visit to get a coffee and quick bite on the way to work. Just now I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese bagel and I asked them not to put the special sauce on because it grosses me out. They have special request written on the receipt so I know they heard me when I asked for this, and every time I ask them not to put it on the sandwich, it appears on the sandwich. Additionally, I don't think the female manager understands customers as well as she lets on. When I went back to complain, she gave me a completely different meal because she didn't understand me. The drive-thru here is horrible. Only half the lane is working take the orders. Also they consistently pressured you into pulling the car forward. Half the time that results in then forgetting about the order and you needing to go inside the store to ask them about the food itself. They are too focused on their metrics and not enough on the actual customer experience. read more

Amazing place and the food is so good and the prices are so affordable. I definitely recommend the fries, hashbrowns and McFlurry. Idk what it is about this McDonald's but they always skimp out on their sauces. Even if you PAY, they will still not include it and then ask you to pay either when you did or it's included in the order. My order here should've came with three total 2 ranch 1 s&s. We ordered the Big Mac Pack ($20) with 2 extra large fries from this McDonald's. When we got home, the fries were unbearably salty. My kids started eating before I realized the issue, and when I asked, they admitted the fries were too salty for them too. I immediately called the store, and the person who answered the phone knew right away, asking, "Is this the Big Mac order?" I said yes, and they offered a refund or replacement later. When I went back, the woman manager was dismissive, showing disbelief that my kids had eaten part of the fries. I explained that I've been a loyal customer (ordering weekly), but she still looked at me like I was lying. I asked her to simply look at or taste the fries--there was visibly excessive salt. This McD's use to be a 2 or 3 Star, but changes over the summer by the owners in staff, training, managers, & customer handling have really changed the culture when you approach them. Though the cashiers are not exactly the quickest, they do their job the best they can (especially trying to speak with customers through the face mask AND plexiglass). There are many Baby Boomers who frequent this McDonalds, so it can be challenging for staff talking through face masks and plexiglass. The service/timing of food comes out hot & fast hitting about 95% accuracy & about 75% for hot food. Special orders no longer upset them (like well done fries, or extra "whatever"). TIP: you want temperature HOT fries, ask for them well-done or with no-salt. They have to be cooked longer (well done) or fresh (no salt). This applies to any McDs. Overall it has been a 4-Star experience the last 4 times I have been in (did not want to right a review until the litmus test was done). Highly recommend this particular McDonalds restaurant. It appears the owners want to maintain a high degree of efficiency & professionalism continuing to improve on the customer experience. Let's hope it lasts :) read more

I only go here cause i live close by but i just cant anymore. Last night i ordered through the app, went to the window they tell me to pull to the side and wait. This happens about half the time i go. Last night when they tried to give me my order, they messed up 6 times in a row! They kept bringing me the wrong order, i had to show them on my phone each time what i ordered. I been super patient with this place but i am done now. Last week i ordered a combo late at night around 1 am, came home with 2 double cheese burgers in my bag, i was tired so i didnt notice the weight difference til i got home. Went through the drive thru. Was read back my order correctly but apparently it wasn't put in right and I ended up not getting what I ordered. When I brought it up they asked me to pull up. I was pretty frustrated and told them what had gone wrong and the mobile app points that I used for part of my order and I'm happy to wait to get the right order and pay the difference, but do it right, not there in the drive thru. I honestly thought that I was going to get my order and get charged the wrong amount and end up leaving a terrible review about my experience. But I just want to commend the manager or whoever it was that I was dealing with on Saturday afternoon who not only got me the correct order, but told me that I don't need to pay the difference. I kept insisting that I do want to pay the difference I just don't wanna pay the wrong amount. He said no I insist, and they took accountability for their mistake and made it right. I must've told him at least two or three times that I am going to do Apple Pay and I want to pay for the difference, but he felt that this was their fault and he wanted to make it right. I really was not expecting that, as I've had bad experiences with fast food restaurants, especially McDonald's and usually they just blow you off and that's the end of it.
