Frank and Albert's is now McArthurs as in Albert Chase McArthur, the architect that was employed by Frank Lloyd Wright to assist in the design of the Arizona Biltmore luxury hotel and resort. As of March 7, 2022, this replacement dining spot has been nicely furnished with a casual feel and renamed. Serving our table for the weekend brunch was Julio. Fabulous Julio! Not only was he attentive but brought a plate of eggs that was depleted at the buffet, refilled my girlfriend's bottomless mimosa $38 and brought a burger (that was not on menu) to please the gentleman at our table! Now that's above and beyond service! The weekend buffet, $42 was not as outstanding. The fruit, vegetables, muffins, croissant tasted like run of the mill Hampton Inn items. Not AZ Biltmore class. Even my ordered entree of their lemon cream cheese pancakes with blueberry compote didn't meet "average" on my meter. They arrived soggy and were lacking in flavor. The desserts offered at the buffet though were very good. Creme brulee was a creamy dream as was the lemon mousse. Too bad they didn't refill the creme brulee cups so my company could share my brief happiness with me. There is generous complimentary parking if you have your ticket validated while dining at McArthurs but I may not be re-visiting any time soon. read more

The name of the place has changed (formerly something like Frank & Alberts). Evidently there was a big renovation. The look is pretty much the same, unless you've been a number of times you'll notice some color changes and I believe I remember a huge planter or something that kind of blocked tables in the center. The colors are a little more neutral than I remember from before (crossing over from the southwest color scheme to a more contemporary, modern, feel). There's a pool table now that I don't remember seeing before, too. We went twice when we were there over the weekend. The first time, he ordered breakfasty stuff (waffles? I don't know, something I cannot eat - and he was very happy). I ordered fish tacos, because I mentioned that I cannot eat egg the waiter caught the it included an egg wash and had them grill it for me (YAY!). We were both very happy with our items. The second time we went we were in the mood for pizza (we'd seen it the night before and decided it was a 'must have'). We were NOT disappointed. It was really quite good!! I see in my last review that my waitress had purple hair in 2018. Sadly, no party colored hair this time. We did notice that their dress code calls for the jean legs rolled up and they're allowed (encouraged?) to wear fun socks. Do they allow the fun to go to colored hair? Didn't ask. Sure hope that they still do - it's 2023 and colored hair, piercings, and tattoos are more acceptable than ever (and those things are not indicative of someone character, we really need to stop looking at them that way) Would we go again? What a cute place! First I really liked the decor. It's so nice. I felt so comfy and cozy on the patio. Its an open concept but yet still private. However did you do that? My server Elton! You were fabulous. I cant thank you enough for all of you help this afternoon. We came in on a Saturday . It was not too busy and plenty of seating for the whole family or just the two of you. We tried a variety of things to just get a sense of the food. McArthur's is a beautiful restaurant off the lobby of the Arizona Biltmore. They have really nice outdoor space, but on a Saturday night at the end of June that was not an option. We had reservations and were promptly seated, our drink order taken quickly, and followed soon after by our food order. I ordered the Asian salad and added (for an upcharge) grilled chicken. While the salad was delicious, it was more the size of a side salad than an entree salad, but with a well above an entree salad price tag. If you can stomach the prices and are staying at the Biltmore, you'll have a good meal, but it's not somewhere I'd go otherwise. read more

Had a way better experience this time, with Asia taking great care of our table. She was friendly, professional, patient, prompt to assist and anticipate our needs. I had the breakfast sandwich plus sausage patties. The place is nice, with lots of natural light. Not too crowded, with plenty of booths. Real life plants are a huge plus. Well, the succulents at the tables I think are fake. The main issue is that I don't like valet parking, and the self parking is far and a little scary if you go there at night, lol. The hotel grounds are lovely, but breakfast was mediocre. I had the standard American breakfast for $25. - Eggs and toast were very good. - bacon was soggy not crispy - like it had been prepped and left in a steam tray - potatoes were soft and greasy, colored but not crispy - like they were parboiled and smashed then flashed in the deep fryer to get color and absorb oil for service - not crispy like they would be if smashed, drizzled, baked (or even deep fried and allowed to rest). Service: - There was a line and wait list for breakfast/brunch even though only 10% of the tables were occupied... either they were short servers or 90% of the tables were reserved for no-shows... so lots of customers gave up and sat at the bar leaving the restaurant quite empty. - Food was piled up at the pass 15-20 dishes deep under the heat lamps. The guy validating the orders was doing a good job, but someone needs to pick up that food at the pass and get it to the tables so the customers can eat and move on. read more

I brought my family to the Biltmore for a staycation and encountered some AMAZING servers who were truly special. Jodi in McArthur's was absolutely fantastic. Jodi Is a fantastic server, she was witty, fun, and made our dining experience a five star experience. Jodi took the time to get to know us & made our experience even better, she knew we wanted to see the drone show and came to get us so we could see the end of the show, very special. Strong 3. Went here three times in a 24h span so had a few different vantage points to collect observations from. Food- Meal 1- ordered the sea bass on night 1 and it was really good. The bean ragu helped to fill out a lighter meal. The sea bass was good but not a prettiest piece of fish so the presentment was a bit off. Meal 2- ordered the ribeye with veggies as the side and it was really good. Steak was 14oz but not overly fatty and cooked as ordered. Only nit on the steak is the peppercorn sauce on top. I'm not a huge fan of the peppercorn sauce so would probably skip that next time. Meal 3- ordered the fruit plate and it was good fresh and nice to share. Service- this was a mixed bag. One server was amazing. She was friendly and on point. Another sever was just a bit off. Nothing particular but kinda got rushed to order our mains. Bartender was the worst. 10pm and we're setting up to play pool after our meal but he wouldn't serve us drinks unless we had an open bill. It's a high end resort at the Waldorf- who's not pouring after 10pm especially to a group that just finished it dinner. Let's call a spade a spade. You come and linger at Frank & Albert's not for the menu but for the ambiance. When you first enter, you get a sports bar vibe when you see TVs broadcasting sports, a bar with plenty of draft beers, and assorted games. It's nice and bright thanks to the windows and the omnipresent Arizona sunshine. But when you take a left into the dining room, you are transported into a totally different scene. The colors and light fixtures are worthy of the Frank Lloyd Wright aesthetic that they are trying to create. I chose to sit outside as did most other diners on what was a brilliant day weatherwise. A fireplace added to the atmosphere as well as helping those tables in the shade. I would definitely recommend the patio if those tables are available. Being a resort, food is not cheap with most items over $20. Portions are not particularly huge but you get the sense that high-quality ingredients are being used in most courses. Iced Tea: Not sure which tea they brew with but this was a nice strong blend. I noticed for hot tea that they have a box diners can choose from with many different selections. Wedge Salad: Gorgeous presentation and the heirloom tomatoes are perfect. Dieters should ask for the dressing to be served on the side as they pour it at the bottom of the plate. Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup: Loved how toasted the bread was. The ultimate comfort food and the cheese was dripping out the sides. You are getting your money's worth ($19) with this one. I think a bolder cheese combination would have been nice but they play it safe and it is satisfying. The tomato soup looked great and I loved dipping my sandwich in it. My only complaint was that the soup tasted a bit like marinara sauce and leaned a little toward the sweet side. I prefer a more acidic tomato soup. But the combination of grilled cheese and tomato soup was nicely executed. Carrot Cake: Everyone in our nearby area on the patio ordered dessert, so I heard our server, Julio, explain three times all the differences in the dessert offerings. There was a banana cheesecake that looked beautiful but seemed too heavy for lunch. There was a Napolean that another guest got and you would not believe how much whipped cream was on it! Finally, there was my choice, carrot cake. It's served with candied pecans on top and honestly looks like the ultimate winter dessert. The cake was perfect. In some respects, the desserts seemed to be the best thing on offer here. Service was efficient and the team worked well together. Julio even offered up many factoids about the restaurant and its history. This is not just any restaurant. When you dine here, you are becoming part of that history, too. The restrooms are not located in the restaurant and are down a nearby hall. When I went in, it was FREEZING in there and seemed so disconnected from the rest of the resort. I would recommend using the restrooms around the corner from the concierge and next to the gift shop near the lobby. With tip, lunch for two is easily going to cost more than $100. Is the food alone worth it? Not at all. Is it worth it for the overall experience? You bet. The elegant atmosphere does elevate everything. Treat yourself once in a while! read more

Went here for Mother's Day brunch and somehow we landed a private room! It was amazing! The staff was SOOO accommodating that my sister had a newborn with us. The buffet was good but it was the staff that really made me give this 5 stars! I believe our waitress name was Kaylee (I really hope I spelled/saying that right) kaylee if you were our waitress for the party of 10 today we LOVED you- the hansen family. You were so sweet, so kind, you didn't mess up any orders, and you were so gracious and never seemed annoyed. There's nothing I love more than amazing staff who go above and beyond. We started with coffee that was refillable from at carafe left at the table. It was a medium roast that is ok for most drinkers, but lacked the bold flavor I prefer. I had the garden omelet, filled with veggies, and whole wheat toast. It was healthy, and tasted ok. Our other entree was a waffle with fresh berries. The waffle was light and crisp, with a good taste. The problem with this restaurant is that it is overpriced. I'm always wary of hotel restaurants because they know you have a captive audience--especially with a location such as the Biltmore where you can't really walk to another establishment. Having dined here a couple times during my stay, I can say that the food is very good, as is the service. Really the only thing that prevents five stars is the price of the items. First, for lunch I had a bowl of chicken tortilla soup and a side of sweet potato fries. Both were excellent; the soup was very flavorful without being too spicy--and I even ate the pieces of avocado floating in there! The sweet potato fries were served with both a garlic aioli and ketchup. I appreciated both dipping options but would have preferred one of them to be sweet over savory, perhaps a marshmallowesque choice. Admittedly, the aioli was quite tasty. Returning a couple days later for breakfast, the buttermilk pancakes were light and fluffy without that aftertaste you get sometimes from flapjacks. The menu listed "pure maple syrup," though there was another flavor hiding in there, some sort of fruit. I didn't mind it, but would have preferred to know that and have a choice of syrups. My side of bacon was insanely expensive at $9, and I couldn't taste any difference from the bacon I get back home for far less. Jim was the server and was incredibly attentive. read more

I ordered the Huevo Rancheros which was presented nicely and generously topped with fresh avocado and a sunny side egg. Portions were okay and for $18, it was a bit pricey but not unexpected for an upscale hotel restaurant. The side fruit was fresh with dragonfruit, blackberries and watermelon. I was quite impressed with the service. They take down your name and address you by it (Mr. & Mrs.) throughout the service. The ambiance was nice and it was a comfortable dining experience. An excellent experience was had at Frank & Albert's. My Santa Fe friends came down for a visit, and they are "resort people" and rarely wander to the outside world to dine. We chose to sit in the room with the giant fireplace and opened up walls. This was a more appealing choice than the inside diner-style booths across from the bar. Our professional server Kenneth ran the show and served up great food suggestions, as well as wine. I had the salmon, and the rest of the table opted for mussels, and a pizza. All very good. The one star deduction is for the lousy chair heights that varied in our dining area. It felt as if I was a child sitting at the table. It was "squat-height". This a decent hotel restaurant. Service is good and the waitstaff was very nice. The restaurant was loud in part due to the open kitchen but almost too loud to have a conversation. I ended up moving to the patio area for a little quieter environment. The food was decent. The Parmesan Fries were excellent tasting although for $11 they should be. Fairly small size of them and many were broken or overcooked. It came with a Smokey Ketchup that paired nicely with them. I would eat this again. Next I had the Noodle Salad - although the server said it was a large portion, it was not large at all. I would not eat that again - especially for $22. Can't say I'd be back here. The location and prices speak to a higher level dining experience. The menu describes some tasty dishes but the dishes themselves do not meet those expectations. This is the casual restaurant on site, and offers indoor dining areas, a covered patio and outdoor patio as well, for those that like to watch kitchen action, one dining area offers stadium views of the kitchen. TV available in the dining area around the bar. So basically you can pick to suit your mood. Seated outside where we could enjoy the weather and the view, our service was friendly, efficient and paced to match our wind-down mode. We enjoyed a glass of white and rose with the mind blowing soft pretzel and cheese dip as well as the salad and sandwich choices. The wine list is wallet friendly and offers a variety of reds, whites and rose, and the menu has something for all. They also serve breakfast if you prefer sit down to the cafe or room service. 16 family members, ages 9 to 80, had lunch on Dec. 27. No leftovers! Favorites were the chicken wings and tuna tartare appetizers, tortilla soup, burgers and fries, various sandwiches. Tasty cocktails. Prompt service. Food arrived at the same time which doesn't always happen with a large group. We also enjoyed mingling in the spacious bar area. We were blown away by how good these were. We asked for additional blueberries and cream cheese because we couldn't get enough. The breakfast burrito was the best we've had. Period. It's pricey, reflecting resort prices, and the food and service were good enough for an evening but probably not repeat visits. While prepared well, the menu lacked green vegetables for adults and kids alike (other than a small side salad). For an upscale resort, it would have been nice to have some kind of vegetable option for kids given the potential intent for families to have multiple meals on property. read more
