Was so excited to try this restaurant based on recommendation and was extremely disappointed. The restaurant was not crowded. After we were seated, we ordered a soda. It took 15 min to get to the table. We could see the waiter chatting with the bartender. We asked for bread. After 15 min of waiting, still sans soda, we asked another waiter who said he would bring it over. He didn't. Then he proceeded to set a table next to us. The soda finally came. We waited another 15 minutes, still without bread and decided to leave. On our way out, the waiter came over to ask why we were leaving. Come on MC Kitchen, I know you can do better. read more

We brunched here today. It was pretty good. This would've been a 5 star review however two of us ordered burgers and there was a mix up in what we ordered. Still tastes pretty delicious. French fries come as a side but are truly worth it. The tower they are presented as is very high and the taste was great too. The server brought us fresh ciabatta bread that I think they had just baked. Fabulous. Ohhhhhhh I should mention---- LOL the bathrooms are NOT traditionally labeled. Everyone at our table was confused as to which was the men's and women's rooms. So I hope this helps, don't be embarrassed, ask a staff member. Peaceful, elegant, delicious, consistent. The other day i had a very stressful day at work and i wanted to go somewhere for dinner that would give me peace. A place that would deliver a great experience from service to ambiance to food. MC kitchen has always been a consistent delivery on all of those. Try the pizzetta. I really can't believe it took me so long to get to MC Kitchen. The way they revamped the old Fratelli Lyon space is phenomenal - you get the feeling you're actually in a chic restaurant rather than in a restaurant that happens to be located near a design showroom. The indoor/outdoor bar is really cool as well. I was here with a group of friends for a birthday celebration, and we ended up sharing a good number of dishes. No one left unsatisfied, and we were all super-impressed at the delicious offerings we were served. For appetizers, we tried the burrata, the roasted octopus, the cobia crudo, the tuna tartare, and the field greens salads. Everything was really delicious, and the portions were surprisingly large, and easily shared in our group of 5. Our favorites were the octupus, the burrata, and the salad. As for main courses, we opted for the cavatelli, the pear-and-cheese fiochi, and the yellowtail snapper (we originally chose the cod, but were advised they'd just run out). Each dish was better than the last. The pastas were so tasty and soul-warming, and the snapper was light and fresh. The lentils served with the snapper were outstanding, and were probably by favorite element of that dish. As it was a birthday celebration, we had to indulge in dessert (of course). We chose the six-layer tiramisu, and were happy to see that our server presented with a candle for our friend. They don't sing, but we were more than happy to oblige. Service was really great, and I have to give extra kudos to the sommelier, who assisted in our wine selection when we couldn't even narrow our options. Prices were incredible reasonable - our tab was about $240 without tip, even with a bottle of wine. MC Kitchen totally deserves all the praise it's been getting from around the country. The food is outstanding, the service is great, the settings are stunning, and the price is right. The Design District truly has another shining star. read more

The highlight of my meal at MC Kitchen was the Black Mission Fig Pizzetta. It's an absolute must! Sadly the rest of the meal was less than memorable. As far as pasta dishes, I ordered the Fettucine, which had crab and veggies. It was good, not great. I wouldn't order it again. Also tried the Ricotta Cavatelli and felt the same way. Overhyped, Nice Spot with Good Drinks & Wine but the service is horrible. Every table around us was constantly looking for the waiter and needing something. Feels more like a hotel lobby bar than a stand alone restaurant. Could be good but needs some work. Ordered the truffle fries and they were good but served piled up like nachos at a cheap Mexican restaurant. By the time you eat the few at the top the bottom was drenched in grease. 2 of us had the burger, it was mediocre at best, maybe like Chili's or so quality. My wife had a chicken salad and the chicken was visibly pink an undercooked. Another person had the pappardelle, and it wasn't that bad. So wasn't bad was the best of the 3 meals we had. The waiter was about about as friendly and attentive as someone working at the DMV. Literally had to ask multiple times for everything like water, 3 or 4 times for salt & pepper and I physically stood up and went to ask for the check and then also to give him the card. He could not have cared less about being there. The restaurant was not even 20% full maybe 12 patrons and 3 or 4 servers so they were not busy or packed at all. read more

Ok... So the hard part about writing this review is that I really, really wanted to like MC Kitchen. Here's the prob: although the restaurant is beautiful, vibe is nice and the food in general is good, most everything fell short in the end... Let's make this a compliment sandwich: They didn't have my favorite bourbon, so the bartender came to my table and brought two different options, explaining the flavor profile of each and letting me taste each before selecting the Black Maple Hill Bourbon from Oregon. Great choice!!! And loved this experience! Apps: octopus with risotto. Octopus was a little too fishy for my taste but was tender... The risotto was flavorful and is made with black rice, which was a nice surprise. We also had a delicious tomato, prosciutto, fresh Basel and chunks of parmegiano reggiano. Outstandingly well done and fresh. Olive oil was fantastic. Negatives: the bread didn't arrive until the apps arrived, so we had nothing on the table for at least 10 to 15 mins. We spilled a few crumbs on the table. I pointed it out to the waitress and she just left it there for the remainder of our dinner. The bus boy took our plates and a couple of pieces of silverware but didn't replace my dinner knife... Again... These are little things but they can def impact the dining experience. Entrees: I had the pork chop with the Brussels sprouts, bacon and Granny Smith apples and a sweet mash. It was delicious. Prob: everything but the pork chop was hot... Uff... So close, yet so far away. My friend ordered the Carbonara. At first glance, it was easy to tell there was simply too much sauce. A traditional Italian Carbonara has nearly no "sauce" as it is made with raw egg yolk. The pros of the dish: the pasta itself was cooked perfectly al dente with a great flavor. They added a nice little touch with the poached egg in the center of the dish. The cons: Again, not only was there way too much sauce, but it was also quite runny. The Carbonara almost looked like a soup with pasta. There were TINY bits of bacon in the dish... Almost non-existent. Overall, quite lackluster and just an "okay" meal. For desert, we had the Valrhona Triple Dark Chocolate Mousse with hazelnut crunch, burnt meringue and passion fruit. This was delicious and perfect to share for two people! Loved the passion fruit drizzle! Overall, the experience was just ok. It was like everything was prepared by line cooks and servers with no passion for the overall dining experience. Don't go hungry. Portions are small for the price and flavors are too delicate to compensate for the amount of food being served. When I ordered the Whipped English Pea Filled Burrata Cheese, I expected the attention to be on the cheese and exciting filling, but I was disappointed when I had to dig through a pile of citrusy greens to get to the main attraction. Keep in mind, I'm the last person to complain when there is extra greens in a dish... But If I wanted a salad, I would have ordered one. The abundance of greens was simply overwhelming to the delicate and mild cheese, and I hardly noticed the pea filling. For dinner, I ordered the $18 Roasted Pear and Cheese Fiocchi - which had 8 (small) bite-size pieces of the delicate ravioli shaped pasta (yes I counted). All it tasted like was truffle cream - the flavors I was looking most forward to experience were the roasted pear and talleggio, but there was simply no sign of them. None the less, the dish wasn't bad - I mean who doesn't enjoy creamy truffle pasta? To go with the pasta, I ordered Sautéed Escarole and Wild Mushrooms. The mushrooms were good - average preparation of a wild mushroom side, but the Escarole was extremely greasy and slimy, it tasted stewed to me. I can't imagine the amount of butter/oil/bacon fat they needed to use to get them so glossy as a sauté (and I don't want to know). As for the drinks, they have a really great selection of crafty beers on tap and a plentifully wine menu. We chose a bottle of sparkling shiraz that was delish. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice and pretty - very Miami. I would go back for drinks at the bar, and possibly try other antipastis on the menu, then head somewhere else in the design district for dinner. read more

Come for drinks - they're unique and solid. The Roasted Pear and Cheese Fiocchi pasta is incredibly delicious and so is the octopus appetizer. I was extremely disappointed with the Pork chop as it was tough, dry and tasteless. In that note, so was our Waiter who actually recommended it. He was around pretty often but had no personality and was not very effective. We asked him to bring two more slices of bread with olive oil - and it was never brought to us. The table are covered with white table cloths and instead of picking up crumbs from our previous appetizer, he just brought our glasses of wine and placed them right over the crumbs. It's a nice place but i did find that the establishment seems a little run down. Walking towards the bathroom, I noticed their huge wine cellar was disorganized with cases of wine sitting on the floor. Their large mirror was also full of dust. Bad Start. Better Finish. We dine out often at top restaurants and spend too much time in Miami Design District. :-o We had out of town guests and decided on MC Kitchen, recommended by the director of one of the boutiques my wife shops at. Started at the bar because 2 guests were arriving shortly. The remaining 4 of us spent literally 10 minutes at the bar but were totally ignored. More than one bartender was on duty, walked past us several times, but never offered to take a drink order even though we were the only people seated there! Finally I asked to be seated immediately at our table. Apparently we continued to be invisible because more minutes passed without a waiter coming by to greet us, offer water, etc. Finally I arose, walked over to one of the ignorers, and said I wanted service and I wanted it now. Within 30 seconds, "Waiter Eric" arrived, apparently aware I was a very unhappy puppy, and did more than just apologize. He sprang into action the likes of which I rarely see on the Miami scene. And that focus and total service continued thruout the evening. Later, "Manager Eloisa" came over to get a full report, having apparently been alerted to the shakey start. She listened carefully as I related the facts and emphasized I was no longer upset, given the extraordinary ongoing performance by Eric. And the food? We ordered more than half the menu offerings. Of note and 5-STARS go to the Beef Carpaccio, Tuna Crudo, Stone Oven Roasted Octopus, Brussels Sprouts Black Truffle Pizza and Butterflied Branzino Al Forno. On the dessert side, Passion Fruit Panna Cotta and Warm Chocolate Budino were terrific. We finished off with Affogatos all around. The only offering not up to par was Stone Oven Baked Veal Chop Milanese which was frankly a bit dry as voted by everyone who tried it. Bottom line: Most diners new to MC Kitchen will not have Eric to turn the situation around and will never return if they experience what I did. But this does show service matters and one person can turn rain into sunshine. Assuming MC Kitchen gets all bartenders and servers onboard with that concept, I will be back for sure. read more

This place is simply fabulous! Everything from the ambience, to the cocktails, and cuisine is well thought out and executed. I had the pleasure of going here for a private party with a set menu so I had the opportunity to try a variety of dishes. We started with the whipped squash burrata, and a smoked salmon pizetta. The burrata was so light and the pizetta perfectly crisp. Delicioso! I also got to try some of their bread which was some of the best I've had here in Miami. Next out came the most fabulous soft shell crab I've ever eaten. So delicate and flavourful a top of coleslaw like salad with the perfect balance. Following this we had a pasta course. I went with the pear and cheese fiocchi. Personally I am not a fan of truffle oil so I mostly passed on this dish, but everyone else was ranting and raving about it. For the main course I chose the fillet of branzino which was perfectly cooked. Everyone's mains looked wonderful. All in all this was simply a great experience. The restaurant build out is like no other in Miami. It's very obvious that they spared no expense making sure that every detail was to perfection. The feeling was a combination of dinning in your best friends home but with a 5 star Vegas hotel feel (as far as the quality of the materials that where used) I can see this restaurant becoming the type of place you can visit at least 4 times a week. The menu is just as well thought out as the restaurant design, Its Italian with a twist with only the freshest ingredients. My suggestion is that you need to run and not walk to experience MC Kitchen. They are here for the Reason and not for the Season. The total experience was less than average. I found ir to be extremely expensive. I would never ever return. For 1 appetizer, 2 main course, 2 dessert and 1 Bottle was way too much. Food was very average. I find it to be insane to charge additional $136 for shaved truffle. For that you go to Salumeria in Midtown you get more authentic food and staff is pleasant. Save your money and go to salumeria. Or just sit at the bar and order a burger and fries. Still very over priced but they have an expensive rent to pay. read more

Our server took his time explaining the evening specials and other dishes as well. He was very helpful with the recommendation and questions we had. The sommelier also came over to explain and suggest certain wines since I was looking to try something new but also to pair with my roasted pear truffle pasta (which was out of this world, totally recommend it). The remodel of the restaurant that used to be in that location is amazing. The inside dining area is large and comfortable- the outside seating is cute and the new bar is beautiful. The staff is knowledgable and friendly, and the food is quite tasty! I went last night for good ol MIAMI SPICE 2014!! And MC Kitchen did not disappoint. I always wish these places had at least 3 options for entrees but I will take what I can get ;0) The Spaghetti Vongole was my favorite, even though it was an appetizer- it is entree portion size! The flavors worked wonderfully together- also the antipasto salad was tasty as well. Then we had the osso bucco and snapper- both tasty in their own right but my favorites were the apps! The dessert were nothing special to me- friend dough (zeppoli?) and cheesecake which was quite tart for my taste. Our bartender was awesome and the manager was present at all times. Everything was over cooked the octopus was so rubbery and salty. The wagyu burger tasted terrible by far the worst burger I have ever had. Burger was also over cooked the first time and had to send back. We ordered a pizza and we said NO ARUGULA. It came with it. Alright, a simple mistake, we send it back and the people pick it off... and give us back the same pizza. If I wanted it picked off I would have done it myself. Impressive Italian with fresh ambiance. The Roasted Pear and Cheese Fiocchi is a pasta dish I feel is unsurpassed in Miami. Glad I listened previous Yelp reviews and ordered it, even though it wouldn't have been my typical choice. Had to refrain from begging for more bread to soak up what little sauce remained. The Stone Roasted Octopus was also a highlight. Crispy and perfectly cooked, I would have a hard time passing it up next time. The Pork also came out perfectly cooked, and I couldn't get enough of the bacon brussel sprouts. However the pasta was so delicious, it was a tough act to follow. Overall impression? Wonderful service and modern decor with incredible Italian food and generous portion sizes. Highly recommended. read more
