People who know me; know I'm very particular, yet practical. This shop is exactly that. We purchased a pristine 2006 S430 with 69,000 miles, literally from a 92 year-old man who owned it since new. I call Ara my Mercedes dad lol. I've had my 2006 C230 for over 10 years and have visited a multitude of repair shops, and I can honestly say that Ara is THEEEE best! His prices are fair, his work it timely, and he even takes the time to explain things about your car to you so that you learn about the maintenance of your vehicle. I had just had my car serviced by another shop and he showed me, with my own eyes, how they basically didn't do any of the work they said they did. I also brought my own part that I bought off of eBay to be put in my car to save some money on the repair, and even though Ara warned me about the dangers and the waste of money it would be, he agreed to do as asked and do his best, which he did, and boy was it a waste of money. I cannot recommend Ara and MBZ Auto Service highly enough. My 1982 Mercedes Diesel was hit by a valet that left it's front right blinker gone as well as more damage to the front end and grill. I had been to many body shops all around LA but did some research and read about how helpful and honest Ara was on here. That's rare in this industry so I called and set up an appointment for an estimate. It was well worth the drive from the South Bay. This is the only car I've ever had and it is very sentimental to me. The damage to the blinker had blown a fuse so my windows wouldn't roll down, gas gauge was broken and neither left nor right blinkers would work. It felt unsafe to drive. The first thing Ara did was spend time asking me what I wanted fixed and explaining the different costs. I must admit, while I love this car to death, I do not know much about the inner workings of it. Ara explained everything to me in layman's terms and was incredibly helpful. After diagnosing the blown fuse, he went back in his shop to find the replacement fuses. He replaced them and just like that everything worked. I asked how much it would be for the replacement fuses, Ara wouldn't accept anything. I couldn't believe it! He spent about 45 minutes with me and was the most helpful mechanic I've ever met. I'm currently dealing with the valet's insurance company now but won't dream of taking my car anywhere else when I'm ready to replace the lost blinker and damaged front end. To be honest, I won't even get an oil change anywhere else after my incredible experience with Ara. Thank you for all of your help! read more

I am finally getting around to Yelping MBZ Auto service... I read other great reviews on Yelp about MBZ so decided to take my C63 AMG in for its service B. I don't really trust dealership service and don't like overpaying dealership prices so thought I would try MBZ. I met Ara the owner and he was super nice. The shop itself is very professional and clean. He is a certified MBZ mechanic (as I noticed his certificates on the wall) which obviously is someone you want working on your car. In terms of service, a few worthy notes: 1. When I went to drop car, he made sure I had a ride and offered to take me anywhere I needed to go (work). My wife was waiting for me so didn't need this service. I liked this shuttle offer service. 2. When I picked up car, Ara showed me the old parts that were wore out and replaced. I have always liked this in a mechanic. 3. I think they sprayed my car with some kind of air freshener. This may seem minor but I thought it was a nice touch. 4. I had forgotten to tell Ara about a rear brake light that was out in my car that was causing an annoying pop up message on my dash... When I went to pickup car, I mentioned it to Ara and he had seen it and fixed it at no charge!!! This sold me on using Ara and his shop for all future services. I first went to MBZ back in January 2012 when i needed brakes upon a friend's recommendation. Even though MBZ was recommended by a friend, i was really skeptical, because most shops think because you drive a Mercedes, you're rich and think they can over charge or tell you you need something you really don't. Anyways, i drop my car off for diagnosis and Ara calls me shortly to give me the quote and see if i want to have the brakes repaired. I was shocked at his quote and the fact that he was honest about what i needed and didn't need. Just for the heck of it, i pulled out an invoice for previous repairs i had a couple weeks prior to see what he would have charged, and i was shocked again at his quote. So move on to April 4th, 2012....i needed a major repair (intake manifold) done. I took my car to 2 shops for diagnosis (because i don't trust mechanics) and they came up with the same diagnostic problem. One shop was about $100 cheaper than the other, but i thought i would give MBZ a call and see what he would charge. He quoted me $250 less than the cheapest of the 2 other shops. I was again shocked and thought to myself....he's gonna have me get my car all the way to Glendale, and then tell me his quote was wrong. Well i was wrong, because he charged what he quoted. He recommended another repair that i would need soon and i was on my way April 5th a happy camper. :) I've learned it's really hard to find an honest/knowledgeable mechanic who does great work, and takes care of your car in the process. I keep my car immaculate inside and out, and i hate to pick it up and find grease, hand prints and crap all over it....i've actually not returned to shops because of that. MBZ is a very clean shop and they will take car of your car. I would suggest calling Ara and giving him a chance the next time you need your Mercedes repaired. I wanted to keep up with it, so I asked some of my car friends before checking out yelp, who they recommend. And they all mentioned MBZ. My car was leaking oil after me and my friend decided to take things into our own hands. We ended up cracking the oil filter housing and I was shitting bricks. The next day I cringe to even see how much oil puddle that was for sure under the car. I figured I didn't want to screw around and just take it to someone certified. That's when I was desperately searching yelp for a mercedes service close by my house. Well I found Ara. I didn't even think twice and drove there stat. Long story short, he replaced the housing and steam cleaned the engine. When I arrived to pick up my car Ara lifted my car, should me how clean it was and should me the leak from my old housing. I found ARA when the side mirrors to my car got stolen. Not only was he helpful but he was truly sympathetic to what I went through. When my 1997 E420 Mercedes that I've owned since new had a transmission problem, I took it to MBZ Auto Service and met with Ara. We discussed replacing the transmission, but first he asked me to leave my car with him so he could check several other things first. Once he opened up the transmission, he didn't find any evidence of a worn transmission. He ended up discovering that there was an electronic problem located inside of the transmission. Had it not been for Ara's expertise, I would've spent several thousand dollars replacing my transmission. I can't say enough about the professionalism of this auto Mercedes specialist. When my SBC pump decided to die while I was on the fwy I called Ara practically in tears (by chance) and boy was I lucky I did. Ara assuaged my fears and assured me that if I took my car to him he wouldn't charge me anything to check if my SBC pump was still under warranty. I took my car in and it was!!! Ara charged me zero dollars and recommended I take my car to Santa Anita where they fixed my break issue for FREE. Since the car had some other issues and since I hadn't been the best at keeping up with maintenance, we took the car back to Ara . He told us and SHOWED us what the issues were and taught us a lot about the car. The current climate left us with limited financial resources and I felt like Ara gave us a detailed and fair explanation of the work that would be needed as well as the cost. He told us to go home and sleep on it and if we still wanted to fix the car, he'd be happy to. We decided to take the car back to Ara, he replaced the manifold and one of the other pumps. He also replaced our filters pretty much for FREE because I guess he felt like it . I wouldn't take a Mercedes anywhere else!!!! Ever!!! The car is running great. If Ara specialized in all cars I'd recommend him to everyone. If you have a Mercedes and you want refreshing honesty and someone who will literally take things apart and put them back together to show you the work, this is your guy! To make things short, God gave my family and I an angel. As we were driving from Las Vegas to Glendale, my family's Mercedes ML350 had a flat rear tire in the middle of nowhere. Because of roadside assistance (thank goodness for AAA), we were able to change our flat tire with a spare one. This is definitely not the end of the story. We were still in need of an actual tire, since driving with a spare tire from Las Vegas to the Bay Area is unsafe. I had to search for an auto shop that sells Mercedes's ML350 20-inch tires, so I went on yelp and found MBZ Auto Shop. As a shock, MBZ Auto Shop's, Ara, went far and beyond than just help. When I called for assistance, he made sure that our speed on the highway maintains 50mph and that we should stop every 40 miles, so our spare tire can cool off; since, we still had 176 miles to reach Glendale (we were on our way to visit a relative). Of course, doing his job, he has to make sure that he had all the information he needs and when all the info was given, he was set to accommodate my family, especially when he knew that we were not going to make it on his time (we be driving 50mph on I-15), and knew he was going to work past closing hour. As soon as we got there, he catered to us as if we were his family. Overall, MBZ's Ara made our experience great and would recommend anyone to give this auto shop a try. You won't regret it! I went here because of the great reviews. I dropped my car off and everyone was nice and I promptly got a call about the estimates and findings - I reviewed things over the phone and told Aura specifically not to fix one item. I should have requested a detailed quote at that point but I did not. I got a call a few days later saying that he was sorry but they had "accidentally" gone ahead and fixed this item. They also needed more time than originally thought. He would be able to "get me a good deal" on parts so the price would not be drastically different than what he quoted me. When I paid however, I believe I ended up paying the equivalent of the price with the unauthorized repair included - I can not prove this because I was remiss in asking for detailed quotes/totals prior to the repair, but the whole reason I did not want this item repaired was to keep costs low and costs in the end were certainly not low! This to me is completely unacceptable. He was very apologetic and nice but I can not excuse performing unauthorized repairs. I definitely recommend asking for details in writing once he gives you a call with his quote. read more

I just had my car towed from san diego to LA because nobody is as honest or thorough as Ara. The tow driver parked it on the street, but Ara moved it inside because two windows were stuck down. This is kind of niceness we're dealing with. He gets work done (usually sooner than he promised) and will show you whatever parts he replaced...I cant say enough about this shop. Here are reasons why: 1) Upon first calling, Ara is extremely pleasant, professional and helpful as I explained my problem. 2) He took the additional step of immediately calling me back and suggested a few trouble shooting tips which would save me money. 3) When I took my car in, he quickly found the issue with my seatbelt and fixed it. Something was stuck inside that he took out. No charge. Had I brought my car into the dealer, its highly unlikely this would happen. 4) He took the additional step of cleaning my windshield debris so it wouldn't go into the vents (as car had been sitting inoperable for months). He also put air in tires. **Conclusion: I will take my car to him moving forward and he has a lifetime customer for as long as he is in business. A real gem.
