I have nothing to say but good things about mazatlan. I grew up in this place so I've pretty much tried almost every dish. Every dish is great and the owners are the best owners I've ever met. They always greet their customers and make sure everything's in order. MUST TRY TACOS DE MARLIN those are the best tacos ever created by man & only mazatlan serves them from what I've seen. This is a Mexican Seafood restaurant that my husband and I love. It is family owned and run and they have wonderful food and great service. We are big seafood fans and this place is definitely a seafood lovers dream! We have tasted a few of their dishes and they are all excellent - very tasty, and not greasy. To start, they have the best beans and guacamole and really good tortillas. I don't even like beans and theirs are so yummy to me. They also have very tasty tacos. I think they are known for their Marlin Tacos, which are very good, but we also love the Shrimp Tacos and the Steak & Shrimp Tacos. My absolute favorite is their Poblano sauce...I could eat that stuff like soup, it's so damn good! We had it over shrimp and it was heavenly. Their rice is also very good...I'm very picky about my rice and Mazatlan's gets a definite thumbs-up. They also make the most delicious Mexican Bread Pudding. This is only served during lent, so make sure you get it before it's gone. You can taste the homemade freshness and hard work put into every layer of the bread pudding. Love this place! Very casual & laid back. Not very big, but there's enough room to do what you need to do, which is sit down and get your grub on!!! Marlin tacos - WOW! (make sure to ask for the two sauces that go with these. One is habanero & the other is best described as being like Hoisin sauce, just not sweet - dark brown, not spicy, but goes perfect with the habanero sauce y some lime) Shrimp tacos - WOW! (the refried beans they serve with these are just not fair!) Es mejor si puede hablar en espanol... But if you don't I think they speak English a little...I could tell the waitresses were more comfortable in English. They thought it was funny this Chino could speak Spanish though. It's a little hole in the wall. Not dirty. Definitely a tshirt type of place. The waitresses where tights under short tight shirts...not sure if they should...but who am I too judge. With all that food around, who can blame them for getting a little big for a man with skinny tastes? Anyway, they were great, friendly and helpful. One of them suggested the shrimp wrapped in bacon and I also ordered enchiladas suizas cuz I love them. The shrimp were large (20-25 per pound size) and decently fresh in taste and consistency. as described, they were wrapped in crispy bacon. What they didn't mention is that they put it all over a bed of Frendch Fries. You can't really go wrong here as long as you can get the shrimp cooked well and they did. A nice dish...not fancy, but very filling and flavorful. It came with salad and flour tortillas. B loved it, but she loves anything with bacon. If you want to clog your arteries, this is a delicious way to do it. Enchiladas suizas are my favorite and these were really good. A nice green sauce with cream over tender, shredded chicken rolled up in corn tortillas. It was moist, cheesy and had just the right amount of spice to keep my palate interested but not overwhelmed. Mazatlan is a total hole in the wall spot, but don't let that fool you. Food here is legit and super authentic. Tried their Smoked Marlin Tacos, soooo good reminds me of the ones I had in Cabos. The taco shell is slightly toasted, making a nice crunch and comes w/ a side of refried beans. They have a couple type of salsas to go along with your food, beware of the red sauce, spicy but good! I've been coming to this place with my parents since I was little. The food was always delicious. I went back this weekend and I know that with COVID they are doing the best they can. But I wanna say they need to improve their organization skills and customer service. I went with my boyfriend , gave them my name and said that the wait was 15 mins , PERFECT.. as we waited I noticed they were seating people that got there after us & they never came out to let us know what was going on. I went back inside & asked how many people are still in front of us & said 4. The wait was now 30-40mins. Love this place! Micheladas are delicious and food is bomb! I always get the filete al mojo de ajo and its just right. Also the tacos gobernador are also amazingly good. Waitresses are friendly and pretty. The food takes a bit to come out but it's just because it's freshly made definitely recommend this place. FYI don't go if you're a jealous female because the waitresses do wear really short skirts lol. read more

First they recommended Mariscos Guero since we were in the vecinity. After having a detour and my stomach grougling, I checked in the rear view mirror and said we are eating here. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly waitress, I saw the jukebox and decided to feed it some dollars for some corridos. After eating 11 tacos and drinking quite a number of beer in Cloud 9 we moved here to have some more tacos. I know i'm such a pig, but i only ordered two. i realize i've been very stingy with my 5 stars lately. there was nothing wrong with our meal at mazatlan, i just don't feel i can give a place 5 stars having only tried one dish. having said that............my meal here was yum-o! waiting for my friend outside, i was able to read the newspaper article on the window which couldn't stop talking about this being a seafood place. the fish/shrimp/lobster tanks inside reconfirmed this. even though i was tempted by the meaty entrees on the right side of the menu, i stuck with the seafood. i ordered the #10 under the seafood section (please don't ask me what it was called). the description said shrimp and mushrooms, two things i love. it also said it was in a white wine sauce and had what i'm guessing was the spanish word for "cream" so i hesitated at first (afraid of it being too rich), but then said, "what the heck!". the menu said nothing else so i had to ask if the shrimp came with anything else. the (very busty) waitress said rice, beans, salad and tortillas (which i forgot to eat!). i was sold! and the dish was delicious! after a few consecutive bites, the sauce was a bit rich, so i just alternated between shrimp/sauce and rice/beans/salad. for $10.99, i was more than satisfied. late in the afternoon, i was still thinking about how yummy the meal was. my friend, who's been on a tortas kick, ordered the tortas special written on the wall thinking it was going to have shrimp in it, but it didn't (maybe next time we'll bring a english/spanish dictionary). it ended up just being veggies. he said he liked it overall, but it needed meat. i'd agree. before you even order, they bring you warm chips, two kinds of salsa, lime and an onion/cilantro mixture. they also bring a small bowl of what i'd call spicy shrimp broth with a shrimp in it (be warned...it still has it's head). it was a very good starter. at what other mexican place do they give you complimentary soup? service was friendly, but a tad on the slow side (and i'm probably only saying that because i was on a lunch break). as with most places, when you send a waitress away (from not being ready to order), it takes them forever to come back. but she did check on us, so that was nice. even the salad (w/no dressing but was refreshing), mexican rice and beans were good. i swear i think there were bits of meat in the beans. i'd totally come back! read more

The tacos el gobernador are very good, the ostiones a la mexicana are bomb. Cócteles de camarón are OK, they put too little shrimp by it is way better in every sense of the word than Perihuete. I would say to the owner improve your orchata we don't all drink alcohol , it could be better. read more

This place just plain sucks!!! My fiancee and I went once, and we'll never go back. Everything was bad-food, service, just everything. I had the Millionaire shrimp dinner which was shrimp in a creamy mushroom sauce and my man had shrimp cocktail. Both had old shrimp in it-it was really chewy and old tasting. Then to top it off our waitress had a major attitude. I may be white but I speak spanish and she proceeded to talk shit to my fiancee saying he needs to teach me more, when I ordered fluently. After our favorite marisco's place was completly full with people waiting in line to be seated, we attempted this place that is located down the street yesterday. The location is in a small strip next to a mini market with bright blue paint and the words " Marisco's ". Walking inside is very crampped and the waitress where quick to say hello and grab a broom and rag to clean up a table for us. After being seated I noticed they didn't have toastadas de jaiva which is what I was craving, so we ordered a parillda para dos with carne asada, grilled fish and camarones al mojo de ajo. After waitnig over 45 minutes I asked another waitress what was taking so long for our food, she asked who our attending waitress was and said "I'll check" Let me fill you in prior to this people who had arrived after us where being served and by now the entire room all seven tables had received their orders but us. Our waitress asked the table across from us two times if everything was ok and if they needed anything. She did not acknowledge us once asking for refills, more chips, or advising that the order was taking more time then exspected. We felt completely igorned, considering four waitresses rotating a small room. Our waitress came to our table ( only because we called another worker's attention ) to say " sorry but the cook is slow the table in front of you have waited 45 mins for their order" ( which is a lie because they had arrived several minutes after us and where eating) , when I mentioned that she had not been attentive or explained the wait, her facial expression became upset and said" you want more chips" ( when I used that as an example). My husband asked how much longer would the wait be she came back saying "right now it's ready" ( what a coinsidence) she placed the order down said sorry for an inconvience and she was going to leave another server to our table ( because she was off her shift). The food was not hot ( I thought it was just done) and tasted plain. The menu did not state any addition preparation time nor did the waitress advise us of any. I understand that we had a special order however other patrons after us had ordered carne asada tacos, fish, fries, shrimp, they same items that come with our order. The have a complete staff for a small restaurant if they ladies would stop flirting with the perdominatly male patrons and not be in such a hurry to leave maybe we would have had a more attention to our table. This restaurtant did not have a family atmasphere considering the short tight mini shirts and the dripped down sleeves rerealing the bra strap was part of the waitress's uniform. I really liked the shrimp cocktail along with a dozen oysters! A++ for those.They were already scraped off the shell for easy slurping and there was no shell debris on the actual part that you eat (bad experiences from other places.) My 7 year old enjoyed a shrimp taco and the small consommé (broth) soup with a shrimp - although I don't think the shrimp (still has the head on it) is supposed to be eaten as it was not deveined or cleaned once we opened it up. They give you two salsa bowls with a green and a red salsa/chile. The red one was my favorite but they didn't offer refills for the chips or our sodas so I don't know if that's normal or if they were just too busy with all the guys there ordering alcohol and I was too busy multitasking enjoying my meal and keeping my 2 year old tame to stop them and ask for refills. I'm looking forward to returning to try the tostada de camaron w/ limon. My Fiancé was boring and got a carne asada burrito (who gets that with allllllllll that yummy seafood on the menu?!) but he said it was really good. This was my first visit there; I had tried to stop before and there was no parking available so we went right after picking my son up from school. There was two guys drinking at one table and another guy alone at another table and about 5 other guys arrived for drinks while we were having our meal. Just so you get a vibe of the type of crowd there; mostly males drinking alcohol, which is not where I want to be with my two kids but the food was really good so I will be returning even if we get it to go. Very disappointed. Was hoping for some authentic Sinaloa style mariscos but was disappointed in portion, presentation and taste. The chips and salsa were ok. Spicy red and a very flavorful green. I ordered the Campechana botana and asked first of all what it was. I'm a fan of Campechana coctel and was told it was a Campechana seca on a plate. Not at all. It had 6 sad shrimp, some slices of octopus and abalone, 3 round slices of cucumber and a lot of sliced red onion. It had no flavor whatsoever, even after adding salt, lemon and Tapatio. Marlin taco was not significant neither was regular Campechana nor a shrimp tostada my daughter had. She didn't even finish the few shrimp on tostada and she always eats shrimp. My grandmother had the fried mojarra, it looked good and she was happy with it. 1 out of 4... There was nothing that told me return. read more

Love this place !! Landed here about almost 2 years ago and I keep coming back. I've tried their shrimp cocktails, shrimp and fish tacos , breaded fish and a couple more that can't really remember but it was ALL good. They have good beans and rice and their green chili is so good Sometimes it can get crowded but they have to go service too. Everyone here is very friendly. Great customer service !! The food is awesome for the price !! As long as they don't raise there prices, I will keep coming back Definitely recommend to give them a try. The only down side is that it sometimes can be hard to find parking. But tells you how great of a place this is. Some people seem to complain about their waitresses but I've never had a problem with them. I think their uniforms keeps the place authentic and real read more

This place is authentic, clean and affordable - you cannot miss. Do you love oysters? The oysters are better than anything I get in Santa Monica - super clean and not gooey-gross. I got the Mexican (Baja) oysters and I can't imagine a better oyster period. And for $10/dozen, I can eat as many oysters as I want without worrying about the check... The best shrimp tacos ever. They seems to be grilled first and then maybe caramelized with onions with a big slice of avocado on top - the tortilla is also grilled, so the whole taco is smokey and delicious. I had another taco with shrimp and carne asada, and that was [capital "D"] Delicious. The beer is three bucks and ice cold, and they have Micheladas of course. Yes, everyone speaks spanish, there is ranchero music on the jukebox and you will see guys in cowboy hats... The waitresses are friendly and cute, wearing very colorful, tight, short skirts, ... I am going to make it a point to come here at least once a month, to get my oysters on... period, end of story. Not sure how anyone could have a bad experience. I can't believe how bad the food was. I was visiting form out of town and really wanted to have some good ceviche and fish tacos. I took my parents were with me. I had been to a Mazatlan restaurant before and I remember it was quite good. Man, was the food this time terrible. I had some fish tacos and some ceviche. The ceviche was passable but completely tasteless. I could not finish the fish tacos. It seemed to me the the tacos had some sort of bbq sauce (come on! I thought I was eating mexican food). The fish smelled. My mom had the deep fried fish. She did not finish it either and she told me that she had the impression the oil that it was fried in was old. The micheladas were ok... The waitress and all the staff was very nice. But, they need to fire the cook and not serve inedible food. I don't find myself very picky, but this was over the top. read more
