Visited Maynard's for the first time this evening. We loved it. Greeted warmly by hostess and promptly seated. The food was sooo good. We started with the bread and butter plate, the bread was soft and warm. I ordered the pear and Gorgonzola ravioli and I LOVED it. Wonder flavors . My husband had the short rib gnocchi and he said it was very good. We followed that by sharing the cobbler topped with huckleberry ice cream. Delicious. Our server Joe was great. Had lunch at Maynard's today. Beyond gorgeous facility with mountain view and view of Dye's inlet. Outstanding seating, décor, and lighting. The lady who waited on us was adorable and very helpful. The food, however, was really disappointing. The special, scallop skewers, had all the makings of a lovely dish, but the luscious, large scallops were served at room temperature and my side of soup was very cold. I did not ask for the plate to be warmed, shame on me, but should have. I will return, but do hope that the kitchen will pay more attention to the timing to make sure a hot meal is served. Several others have mentioned the cold food on this site, So, I sincerely hope someone reads this who can make this very important improvement. It would be a shame if our area, which desperately needs more lovely restaurants, turns away from the most beautiful restaurant of all. read more

Some friends took me to Maynard's for my birthday lunch and I really enjoyed it. The food was very good, they had quite a few options for people with food allergies too. The service was wonderful and the place is beautiful. This is a wonderful new addition to Silverdale. The outside seating is really nice too. We went here for the first time this evening. Aside from the cool welcome from the hostess it started out ok, ordered our drinks and food. I got my fish and chips and my husband got his burger with a GLUTEN FREE BUN. Only problem - I noticed the bun looked to "normal" to be gluten free so I asked about it. Nope! Not gluten free. So, they attempted three times to get the order right and failed. By this time I had completed my meal so it wouldn't be cold fish I was eating( mediocre at best) and still my husband was waiting. We called the server over and she explained that they had screwed it up several times by putting mayo on it , which he ordered without, and then they tried again. By this time I was completely done and we decided our "date night" was a bust - at least as far as dinner was concerned. The server said that when they requested it be corrected the first time the cook didn't have the original ticket and therefore messed the order up . This was a problem with the server failing to communicate the Oder to the cook. So, we decided that we we're no longer interested in staying and the order was no longer wanted. They didn't charge us for my husband burger but still for his soda and my entire meal. They should have written off the entire order! Needless to say WE WONT BE BACK! read more

Had been waiting for Silverdale's new hot spot to open since it was first announced. Needless to say, the wait was worth it. Staff was super attentive, welcoming and on their A game. First of all, to have a restaurant of this scale here in Silverdale is a breath of fresh air. First glance at the menu you can tell that every dish has been carefully crafted and utilizes local ingredients from here in the pacific north west. We went for happy hour on the second day of their opening and start to finish the meal was absolutely delicious We started with a round of drinks, two gin cocktails and a lemon drop martini. Aside from a mix up on the lemon drops sugared rim which was quickly corrected the drinks are top notch. For our meal we took a tour of the menu and ordered couple dishes from their happy hour menu as well as the dinner appetizers. All came in great portions, were full of flavor and plated to perfection. Looking forward to more meals at Maynard's. Thumbs up all around. read more

It has taken me quite some time to decide to write this review. Unfortunately my first experience here will probably be my last. The place is nice but we could tell upon entering that we didn't "look like" their typical crowd. We were sat in a crowded area right between 2 other occupied booths. Our food was good and the waitress was nice and even suggested we share an entree because we ordered the same thing and it was large. So we did and a few other items. When it came time to pay we handed the waitress an "older" $100 bill (from 1990). After about FIFTEEN minutes she apologizes that she didn't have change so they are getting it for her (lie). After another 5 minutes the manager approaches us and explains to us that he can't take our bill because it "feels weird", they do not have a counterfeit pen...and I guess for some reason couldn't look at it and see the security strip through it thay says 100 (which was very visible). I was so embarrassed and turning red and my husband could see that I was about to cry and didn't want me to be more upset considering I'm 5 months pregnant so he pulled out another newer $100 bill which the manager accepted and got us our change very quickly. My husband and I have been together for 9 years and I have seen him get racially profiled many times but this experience rattled me for some reason. I asked around the community (I own a cafe in Silverdale) and I received many similar answers that Maynards doesn't treat everyone the same, especially those that don't look like they fit in there. We took that bill to a different business shortly after and it was accepted no problem. I wonder what would have happened if that was our only means of paying. We NEVER go somewhere we can't afford, we tipped the waitress 30% and tipped the live musicians. They ruined my very rare date night and made us late to pick up our kids. read more

I've eaten here 4 times now, and will be back again soon! Love that they have locally sourced foods, and good vegetarian options-besides salad. One of the times I was in was with my sister 3 of her kids-5 mos, 2yr, and 10yr. That's really the test for servers in my opinion lol. Our server was great and accommodating with the kiddos, she also checked on us constantly. I've had the mac n cheese, zucchini enchiladas, elote salad, artichoke/zucchini pesto flatbread and sampled things off friends plates...haven't had a bad dish there yet! Watching the kitchen while waiting for your food is fun too. 5 stars for the the kitchen team for sure!! read more

I made reservations two weeks ago to bring my parents in for their 71st wedding anniversary. I requested a window seat, but understood that it was no guarantee. I confirmed my reservation and we arrived with my 93 and 88 year old parents. Not only did we not get a seat anywhere remotely close to the window, but were seated in the back by the door and right next to the bar so that my hard of hearing father was unable to hear. i announced the special occasion to our waitress (elisha) when she finally arrived at our table and barely received a response. Service was LOUSY. Rather than ANY sort of thoughtful or respectful response for this milestone, our service was obviously not nearly as important as any of the tables nearby. Fooled me twice. Reluctantly went to Maynards last night because we had a bad experience the first time we were there. Our friends had two promotional scratch off coupons and talked us into trying Maynard's again. We shared the coupons with our waiter when we sat down and we were told that only one couple could use the promotion. That was disappointing. When our friend scratched off their promotions it was nothing more than an opportunity to receive a reward card with points good for a return visit; in other words, more enticement. We got our food quickly but the potatoes were lukewarm; food was ok. The service was painfully slow for our drinks and it took a long time to get our checks. Talked to the manager before leaving. I went here with my boyfriends family for his grandmothers birthday. Food was not bad, however I have a severe allergy to tree nuts. I ordered the seafood pizza that had pesto on it, not knowing since I had never eaten pesto. This is not the restaurants fault, but I noticed that they had gluten free and vegan markers on their menu and not any allergen or nut free stickers. I only ate one slice and had to go to the ER because I went into anaphylactic shock. Again, not the fault of the restaurant, I just really wish that they would include allergen or nut information on their menu so that people with my allergy do not make the same mistake. read more

My husband and I had high hopes for this restaurant. We went for dinner just before a movie. The host and hostesses were friendly and welcoming. However the atmosphere, though modern, was cold. The bright white overhead lighting completely destroyed any attempt and ambiance. There was a fireplace and an interesting waterfall, but the bright soft white lighting and the glaring lights from the kitchen (which really should be blocked by some kind of barrier) made for an eyesore. I felt like I was dining in my college cafeteria rather than a "nice" restaurant. The beautiful architecture and the elements of interest were completely washed out by the harsh bright white overhead lighting. We had a reservation and was seated on time, but we waited a full 15 minutes before a server appeared at our table. Mind you there restaurant wasn't busy. The food was completely hit or miss. We ordered the "roasted" asparagus appetizer, the bread platter, and the smoked beets ( which we specifically requested as an appetizer but the server forgot to order it). The asparagus looked promising at first glance but upon closer inspection the asparagus NOT roasted. It was boiled. Never, under any circumstances, should asparagus be boiled I'm a restaurant. Grilled, steamed, or roasted, but never boiled. The hazelnut garnish was toasted and the ham was well prepared but everything fell apart with the soggy watery boiled asparagus. Thankfully, smoked beets and the bread platter were delicious. Our entrees ranged between too salty and completely bland. My husband ordered the Argentinian - Style Flat Iron Steak which he thought was far too salty. I ordered the Greek Style Lamb Shank which was completely bland, absolutely void of any seasoning. We walked in intending to have dessert and really explore the menu, but with the inconsistencies witnessed with what we'd already ordered, we'd pretty much had enough. Lastly, there was a severe lack of attention with the service, which one wouldn't expect from a restaurant that had been open for three weeks or at all. I get that kinks have to be worked out, but this is just restaurant basics. Never at anytime during our meal did our server come back to check with us on the quality of our food. My husband ordered a steak and the server never asked if it was cooked to his liking. Never did he ask if we were even enjoying our food which we weren't as it largely sat untouched. I understand that it can get busy on a Saturday night and having worked as a server in an exclusive restaurant during my undergraduate studies, I can certainly empathize. However, regardless of how busy it may get, never forget to check in with your tables, especially when a dish is cooked to an individual's tastes. This is universal across all restaurants, from the "Mom and Pop" diners to the most exclusive downtown establishments. From the cold ambience, lack of attention to service, and inconsistent food quality, this was a complete let down. Hopefully, management or the owner will see this review and use it to work towards improvement. My husband and I will not be returning however, my hope is for others to avoid the disappointment my husband and I experienced. read more

This restaurant was beautiful and their staff was very friendly. We wanted to order the whole menu, it looked so appetizing! We went with the Surf and Turf and lobster Mac and cheese. Both were delicious! We did look at the dessert menu, but decided we were too full to consider anything. 10/10 will be back. read more

Made a reservation at noon for lunch because it was our first visit and I wasn't sure how busy it'd be. We walked in and there wasn't a host anywhere to be found. Someone from the bar area said the bar was open seating and we said we had a reservation. He said okay someone will be with you soon. He looked around and changed his mind and I said I was on my lunch at work but we wanted to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary so I decided we would just take whatever was quickest and sat in the bar. It's a beautiful restaurant. We quickly ordered some oysters and the octopus for appetizers. They came out fairly quickly. The oysters were full of shell so I had to take them out and rinse them in the mignonette before eating them wasting all the delicious brine. The octopus was good and tender, but a lot of filling rice came with it. We ordered the rockfish and hangar steak for entrees. The rockfish was good, but the rice it came with was way over cooked and mushy/clumpy and inedible. The slaw on top was subpar. The hangar steak was extremely chewy and not tender at all. Considering we spent $100 on lunch I expected WAY better and this place just didn't deliver. Not sure I'd go back. read more

Worst and rudest customer service ever. My husband and I thought we would stop in and have a drink. We have never been to Maynard's before. So we went to the bar and sat at a table. It was 7:30 and a few empty tables to choose from. Immediately two waitresses approached us and gave us menus. We asked if it was ok just to get a drink. Because we were in an area that was a bar. They said of course. Well we sat there for 20 minutes and watched a group behind us get waited on, and have their drinks served to them. While both of our waitresses kept walking by us ignoring us. I'm assuming they ordered food too, so that's why they were treated as priority even though they arrived 10 minutes after us. After being ignored for 20 minutes we finally got up and left. Never will return. Kind of made us feel like crap really. Rude!!! read more

I'm just going to keep this short and sweet. We went in with high expectations and left dissatisfied. The lentils were very bland- not seasoned well at all. The charred octopus was the best thing we tried. My mother's burger was odd tasting to her she said something on the outside tasted "chemically". My Baja tacos were ok but nothing I would ever be like "hey I want to go have those Baja tacos at Maynard's" and the timing was also off I was served about 5-6 minutes after my family. The kids food is ridiculously over priced for Kitsap County, 18.00 for macaroni & cheese, fries and chocolate milk. Sorry to say but we probably won't be back which really saddens me because we eat out a lot and I was excited to have somewhere new! read more

Had dinner here for the first and last time. Underwhelming best describes this place. Started with overpriced drinks and waited a long time for food. I had the fried chicken with housemade pickles which was very good and well priced but hubby and kiddo each ordered the 12oz sirloin (hubby, medium rare and kiddo, medium) and hubby also got the side of prawns. The steaks were mixed up and this was not realized until hubby was already almost done and the "prawns" were nothing but 4 small shrimp for $10 extra! If you are going to advertise a side of "prawns", you better serve prawns! Size matters! All in all, this place is overpriced for what it is and they didn't seem to care about our complaint about the shrimp...just calling it like it is. read more

The cafe-au-lait was actually a latte. To me, a cafe-au-lait should be done French style. The scone (9 am on a Saturday) had a good flavor, but it was definitely from yesterday. My wife's half-caf had 3 shots since the barrista doesn't know how to do a split. The "Market" area was very noisy. Barrista mis-heard my order and re-made it. I was excited to try this new restaurant (and might go back one it has been open a little bit longer to give it a second chance). Food is fine and the attempt to garner fresh, good, local food is largely successful. However, the space itself is sufficiently awkward to impact the experience--expansive, but odd angles and way too many tables entirely too close together. I do not need to be 18 inches from the next party and hear their breathing. Drinks are fine but do not live up to the description. Desserts are all fairly awful, look pretty but otherwise tasteless. Again, may go back when it has been open longer to determine if these were newly opened hiccups, or if the place is more hype than merit. read more

Went to try out the 'new restaurant' in town. Beings Kitsap county does not have much in the realm of fine dining. My experience was less than ordinary. Being my own worst food critic, when I go out eat I want to insure that what I ordered is what I get. That's really the whole reason for dining out for me, is to experience new places and not having to cook at home. And on a side story I was offered a sponsorship by a few world renounced culinary chefs, to open up my own fine dining restaurant here in Kitsap county. But after research and the stress of the culinary world opening up your own restaurant was going to be too stressful at that point in my life. But anyways back on track... I ordered the veal Demi-glacé and pom frites medium rare on the veal. And my wife ordered the rods Mac n cheese with steak. Well when we received our food, my veal was over medium, my Pom frites where cold and my mixed vegetables where Luke warm blanched but slightly undercooked. As mentioned earlier, I'm my own worst food critic, I got the attention of my waiter and told him about my dish. He apologized and was very courteous and took my food back and said he will have them remake it. So he did just that. And meanwhile while waiting for my dish to be re-fired my waiter spoke to one of the sous chef and he promptly came over to our table and apologized as said "they only get one chance to make the food right the first time." And offered a free appetizer or desert while I wait for my dish. Me not trying to get something for nothing refused at first, then accepted his offer once my stomach started to growl. I chose the rainbow chard and artichoke dip. The sous chef promptly fired up my appetizer while I waited for my main course. He came back out a few minutes later with my appetizer and apologized once again and advised me that my food will be out shortly. And that if it wasn't right then he would comp the whole meal. The rainbow chard and artichoke dip was impressively good, with a well balance of heavy cream and cooked to perfection chard and artichokes. With just the right amount of salt and seasonings, topped with baked Parmesan cheese and served with crostini (bread). My main course arrived just a few short minutes later. And cooked to perfection. Hot frites and mixed vegetables and my veal Demi glacé was medium rare long after it rested on my plate. The Demi glacé was also good, a bit different than the one I make but none the less good. Maynards won a long time customer because of their ability to show the importance of first time quality and empathy for the situation. I rate this new restaurant a 9/10 stars. They would have gotten all 10 of my stars the first time around. However in spite of the overcooked veal, undercooked and cold vegetables and cold frites, they made it right and sent me on my way, leaving maynards restaurant a happy customer. read more

We have only gone once and probably will be the only time. The service was horrible, the waitress didn't know how to use the ordering machine, which I put on management. You should train someone on how to use it instead of assuming, she didn't even have someone next to her to help her. Therefore, our order was screwed up, a couple people received their meals, while the rest of the table waited at least 15 minutes before we had to say something to a manager. When the food did arrive, it was pretty good, that was the positive part. After going through a disaster meal, we did not get compensated on the check and was told our card "was ran too fast," can it not be voided out? Instead was given a giftcard....I much rather have received even 10% off the check instead of a giftcard, considering I don't want to go back. read more

I went to Maynard's Sunday with friends, it was my second time, I was hoping it would be better than the last time but I was once again disappointed! I ordered the flat bread artichoke and zucchini which had been recommended by a friend.I was so looking forward to it, but it was so salty I couldn't taste any of the flavors!This was also the problem with the fried Chicken I ordered the first time, I am a salt person,so if it's too salty for me that's really saying something! They were very kind about it and gave us a free dessert, but I just felt I needed to say something this time, I'd rather salt my own food thank you. read more
