Addictive delight pancakes - Three pancakes with chocolate chips are arranged on a white oval plate. They are topped with a layer of peanut butter and sprinkled with powdered sugar. The pancakes are placed on a beige table, with a glass of water and some utensils visible in the background.

We stopped in with a group of 5 on a Sunday morning and had a decently short wait. The service was fast and very on top of anything we needed and the food was all plenty tasty!

Manager that thinks he is better than anyone else in the place. - The image shows an indoor restaurant scene with a man in a blue shirt standing near a brick wall with two windows decorated with snowflake ornaments. In the foreground, two women are seated at a table; one woman wears glasses and an orange hoodie, and the other has glasses and a gray beanie. The background includes reflections of other patrons and interior decor, indicating a casual dining environment.

This place is horrible for customer service. The individual that claims he has been seating people for 30 years is a complete jerk! We walked in...put our name down...then proceeded to watch him seat a single guy that walked in 5 minutes after we did. Then he tells an elderly lady than he is not seating her until her entire party gets to the restaurant. I asked her if she wanted to sit in the booth seat they had for pickup orders and her response to me was "No because he will then really look over me". Then a young group of kids walk in...4 to be exact...he seats them. 5 minutes later 2 of their friends, female, walk in. They walk over to the table where the guys are sitting and talk to them. Walk back up front talk to the guy seating people and then all of a sudden he takes the two young female customers over to the table next to the young guys and sits them in front of others that were waiting. Then a single guy walks in, tells them his name, then this guy grabs a menu and utensils and proceeds to sit him at a table for two ahead of us! I then decided it was time to find out how he "seats" people. He tells me "in the order they came in". I proceeded to inform him that he was not following that procedure and he then says to me "I have been doing this 30 years". Well it's very apparent 30 years is 30 years too long that you have been doing this because your system sucks and your customer service attitude is also horrible! But with that being said they are lucky they have a great service staff and the waitress, Sandy, was very nice and honestly she should be running the front of the house! Shortly after we were seating we saw Wendy, who usually is at the front counter, and THAT'S who should be seating people because I have been coming here for years and she has always been pleasure dealing with.

A man wearing a blue checkered shirt stands at a restaurant counter with menus laid out on the wooden surface. The background shows a restaurant interior with white brick walls, large windows, and some decorative snowflakes. Another person, partially visible, holds a phone in front of the man. The scene appears to be in a casual dining setting.

This guy, who is supposedly a manager, was so rude! He picked and chose which customers he wanted to seat, skipping those who were waiting for a long time. He sat a lone guy who just walked in at a table for two, before seating 3 different couples who were waiting over 15 minutes ahead of him! He'd refuse to seat an elder lady, because she was waiting on 2 people, but sat another group that came in 15 mins later who were waiting on 4 people to arrive. He was extremely rude to the customer and when questioned, he'd insult the customers and the staff! Sandy, our waitress, was amazing, however this idiot would scream at her and berate her for absolutely no reason. I felt so bad for her and the rest of the stuff! Food was amazing, but ad long this jerk is employed here I will not be back!!!

Not a bad little place but some of our food was served cold. A little bit mediocre all around. I think there are definitely better places for breakfast in the immediate area.

A round waffle with a grid pattern and powdered sugar on top is placed on a white oval plate. The waffle appears partially eaten, with some pieces missing. The plate is on a beige tablecloth, with a small metal pitcher and a spoon nearby. In the background, a person wearing a colorful, patterned shirt is visible, with their hands clasped or adjusting something. The setting suggests a breakfast or brunch meal at a restaurant.

Great breakfast/brunch diner! They have all the items you could possibly crave for breakfast & at reasonable prices. I'm pretty sure we got our food less than 10 minutes after ordering-- they are quick! The staff is helpful, and it's a "regulars" kind of place where there's lots of familiar faces and friendly interactions.

Hawaii Five-O Omelette with Hashbrowns & Buttermilk Pancakes - Two plates of breakfast food are shown on a beige table. The left plate contains a stack of pancakes topped with powdered sugar. The right plate has two omelettes, one with hashbrowns and the other with ingredients like mushrooms, ham, and cheese. The dishes are served on white ceramic plates.

This diner was fitting for a casual weekend brunch! They have generous portions, a classic menu selection, and pancakes to die for. The wait to be seated was around 15 minutes for a Sunday morning, and the staff was a group of rockstars for serving with a smile despite how busy it all was. If I was in a "hangry" mood, I might have been more annoyed at the wait to get our food though. Luckily, I was content with sitting there and chatting over just a glass of water. My boyfriend got the Meat Lover's Skillet, while I ordered the Hawaii Five-O Omelette... the idea of pineapple in an omelette sounds bizarre, but I was intrigued and I certainly did not regret my choice. The star of the show, however, were the pancakes by far. They were warm, fluffy, and delicious, just as they are supposed to be!

With their rotating menu items and weekly specials, I am definitely coming back after having such a flavorful and fun meal. Waited about an hour on a busy Saturday since one of their locations was closed, but the food was well worth it! I had gotten Wolfie's Patty Melt and it was filling and a great start to our morning. The bread was nice and crisp from the buttered griddle and held everything together perfectly. Inside the crunchy sandwich were 2 seasoned patties and enough gooey cheese to make it rich, but not heavy. To contrast the fatty flavor, there was a slightly tart bacon jam and onions that were truly caramelized. Overall really tasty sandwich with no notes! In the description it says there is a sauce, but I could only taste the onions and jam, so I'm not too sure what it added. The side of fries was ok, but I think some crispy thinner ones would have been better with the sandwich. For my drink, I got a hot Ube Chai. The chai was strong and had a spicy kick to each sip. Already a subtle flavor, the ube was not very strong with the chai mixed in, but still added fun color. The design on top was also very cute and added another dink of sweetness. My girlfriend got the Spamelette for her main and it was pretty pretty and delish. Not too often that you see Spam, but when you see it, trust it earned its spot on a menu! The big chunks of Spam and accouterments gave each bite a pleasant feel and one full of flavor. I was skeptic of the mushrooms at first, but they were seasoned well and added another kind of texture to the meal. I think my favorite toppings were the drizzle of kewpie and the green onions... not sure if it counts as a topping, but the tamari glaze of the spam made it delish. Taste aside, it was also a pretty meal! Pook got a Hot Chocolate for her drink. Nice simple drink for the cold weather. We would have liked to see some more chocolatey flavor, but still a good milky drink for the meal. This drink also had a fun design and nice cream top, yum yum yum. This was such a tasty meal and they have lots of other options that I was debating on getting - I guess we gotta come back! It was a really cold day, but the cozy atmosphere and hot drinks with our food made it a great experience. We had originally planned on going to the Downtown location, but it was closed because of heating problems. I wish there was a bit more uniformity between their menus, especially since the Brewers Hill menu has different items and is smaller, so it feels like there is quite the difference between locations. Going off of that point, I am excited to try their dinner menu when it releases and see how it compares to when we ate Downtown! I am not sure how the places differ, but I felt the food here to be more flavorful than the other location. In addition to the dining area, they had a small shop and coffee area in the back while you waited for your table. It was fun and made time pass faster, but I feel as though that area is also perfect for dining. Maybe there are specific reasons why it isn't, but just a thought. Hope to come back soon!

This was perfect for us because it was much quieter in that room so we were able to have a conversation while enjoying our breakfasts! The design of the restaurant is so beautiful, with pink accent walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, and painted flowers. It was the perfect backdrop to take photos of our food! Our waitress, Sophie, was so great! She was very kind and welcoming, she made sure we got our food quickly, and she even put a birthday candle in my pancakes! For my birthday breakfast, I indulged in some chocolate chip pancakes. It was definitely a chocolate overload, with chocolate chips inside and on top of the pancakes, and a generous drizzle of chocolate syrup on top. It was a big portion of 3 pancakes, and while they were definitely delicious, they were so rich that I couldn't finish it all! My sister had the cinnamon icing French toast, which looked like a cross between a cinnamon roll and French toast. She finished it all and said it was amazing! My dad took the more savory route and ordered the meat lovers skillet. It came with over-easy eggs and breakfast potatoes, and it was another generous serving that was a good deal for the price. I loved the SweetDiner, and I would definitely come here more often if I lived closer!

I ended up calling in an order to go, substituting wheat bread for the rye, and also added a piece of lemon ginger coffee cake. The lemon ginger coffee cake tasted fine, but man was it dry. Like Sahara Desert dry. Maybe this was an anomaly and their other baked goods are better, but I'd be hesitant to try them based on this coffee cake. Even though the website says the side is potato pancakes with applesauce, my fish fry came with fries. They ended up being the best part of the meal, which I certainly wasn't expecting. Still, I was disappointed cause I prefer potato pancakes and was given their inclusion as an expectation. The wheat bread itself was ok, but the butter was oddly unsalted. The fish, of which there was three pieces, was battered with a hint of beer, but like the butter for the bread there was no salt to speak of in the batter. As much as I didn't enjoy the unsalted butter for the bread, not having salt in the batter for the fish managed to be more unpleasant. Maybe Blue's Egg should just stick with serving breakfast items instead of adding something temporary that they clearly aren't pros at.

I surprisingly don't have many options in my "MKE - Fish Fry" collection that are near downtown, but Swinging Door Exchange was one of them. I was pressed for time, so I placed a to go order rather than dining in. I got the combo fish fry (two pieces of cod, two pieces of perch, and three fried shrimp) with potato pancakes. I was also very easily talked into the half rack rib appetizer. The ribs were good, even though I prefer sauce that's more sweet and smokey. Their sauce was on the tangy side with a tease of spice that really only became noticeable when the majority of the half rack was gone. If I were in the mood for ribs as my main meal, I'd consider getting theirs as an entree. The two potato pancakes weren't homemade; instead, they were premade hash brown patties that some other restaurants also serve with their fish frys. These were perfectly acceptable in lieu of homemade pancakes. The cod tasted great, but the breading didn't hold up very well. Either the fish itself was too wet or the two block walk back to my car allowed for condensation to wreck it or possibly both. The perch was not yellow lake perch but probably something like pike perch. Even though both kinds of fish and the shrimp were all good sized portions, $29 feels like a lot. I wouldn't say no to it, though, if I were dining in next time and avoid the extra cost of their takeout fee. Shout-out to the bartenders working that night.
