a parking lot with cars parked in front
    Steven T.

I was looking for a breakfast place out in the country and I found this place in a strip mall so parking is plentiful. The place is dumpy looking with cheap tables and chairs and nothing to look at. The menu has most of the breakfast items that you would expect but the specials board was going to win today with the biscuits and gravy with two eggs. The service was wonderful with a couple servers taking car of me while I was having my breakfast. This place is all regulars who know everyone by name in the restaurant except for me. The biscuits and gravy looked amazing and they don't just spoon a little gravy on the top biscuit like some places do, they drown the whole plate with sausage gravy. My eggs were perfect sunny side up. The biscuits was two whole biscuits not one cut in half like some places do. The biscuit was the fresh made good kind with that home made taste. The sausage gravy was good with that nice creamy texture with plenty of sausage in it. Restaurants take note and see my pictures, this is how proper biscuits and sausage gravy is served you restaurants that cut one biscuit in half to look like two and skimpy gravy on top that doesn't drip down on to the plate. Overall I had a great breakfast on my visit and the service was good also so I would definitely stop back for breakfast again.

Arrived at 8am on a Sunday morning. It wasn't busy. We seated ourselves and were promptly approached by a very friendly server. Got our coffee really fast. Our food arrived in a reasonable time and wow the plates were overflowing! Potato's were fried perfectly but enough to feed 3 people. The corned beef hash was unfortunately from a can but they fried it to a nice crust. Everything was good but nothing special. The decor is pretty dingy and tacky. A mismatch of old dining furniture that some might find charming.

Excellent hometown cafe! The staff was super friendly and all worked together well. I never had an empty cup of coffee. Our food was classic country breakfast food, warm and buttery goodness. The pancakes are mammoth. The french toast was soft. The bacon melted in your mouth. And the country fried steak was crisp with a gravy that was smooth and creamy. We even were given complimentary homemade cookies!

Food: When we first walked in, it didn't look like they had much in the way of ice cream. However, they actually offered a wide variety of choices, including cones, sundaes, and shakes. We ended up ordering a couple of Turtle Sundaes, a PB Lovers Sundae, and a Pumpkin Shake. It took a few minutes for our order to be prepared, and everything was delivered to our table. All of the items were excellent. They looked great, were generously filled, topped with plenty of whipped cream, and finished with a cherry on top. Everything looked like it had been made with care. Service: I'm not exactly sure, but I think the person helping us may have been the owner. They were super friendly and helpful and did a great job explaining the different sundae options. Our order was delivered to the table promptly, with an appropriate sense of urgency. After all, nobody wants the whipped cream to melt! Atmosphere: The shop is located at the end of a larger strip-mall-style building and has an outdoor seating area with several tables. Since it was a little cool outside, we chose to sit indoors. There were large tables that worked well for groups, along with big windows that let in plenty of natural light. Several other tables were occupied, and people were enjoying friendly conversations. The noise level was comfortable and made for a pleasant experience. Glad we stopped in. We've heard they make great burgers, so we'll have to come back and try those next time.

The service itself wasn't bad they were all very friendly, just took a little bit to get their attention, not because it was busy they were all kind of just talking to each other. I'd give the service a 3/5. Lastly the price was on the pricier side so I'd also rate that a 3/5. It didn't break the bank but didn't help it either lol. Inside, there is seating downstairs or upstairs, which tends to be a bit quieter (my choice). Also upstairs is a meeting room that you can reserve. The counter to order is at the back of the shop, which can feel a little distracting if you are sitting downstairs, with people lining up across the room. On this visit, I got a super friendly greeting from the cashier. Ordered a London Fog Tea Latte (a little vanilla, a little lavender, extra foam) in a mug, and a blueberry lemon scone. They do a nice job with the latte, and the scone was very good (might ask to have it warmed up next time). The place has a great vibe. Also the main entrance is not accessible. However, we did discover an accessible ramp on the side of the building (all under construction / roped off at the time of our visit but good to know for future visits). I think in my last review I had gotten the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a plain bagel and mentioned it was pretty basic (your order was pretty basic, you may have shouted at the screen--you're not wrong, gentle reader). Since then I've grown, I've taken responsibility for my uninspired ordering and can now confidently say--they have some of the best coffee shop breakfast bites around. What should you order? Their strawberry avocado toast. Strawberries on avocado? I'm unsure, you may be muttering. Please do yourself a favor, stop muttering, and just order the dang toast. It's goat cheese sprinkled, balsamic reduction drizzled, and quite simply some of the best avocado toast I've had the pleasure of consuming. What else? The baked oatmeal with berries. Warm, comforting, and adorned with fresh berries--it's the stuff winter dreams are made of. I love during the holidays they have some fun holiday lattes (s/o to the jingle bells latte) and I've also recently ordered and enjoyed their tangerine mocha (citrus-y delight!). There are many dining options in the area, and I have recommended Senor Tomas to many friends over the years. Last night I had an unpleasant experience. I am a (somewhat) senior citizen at 67, and my GF recommended a few alternate places, but it was such a beautiful evening that I recommended that we go to ST and dine on the patio. We walked onto the patio and stood waiting to be seated. My GF has a problem with her foot, and standing and walking can be painful. I asked the waitress/hostess if we could please be seated. She said that someone would seat us. There were 12 or 14 tables and only 2 had people seated at them. We stood there waiting for maybe 5 or 10 minutes, and I finally decided to just seat ourselves (even if temporarily) at a small table with 2 chairs. After a few minutes, the Manager abruptly charged out of the restaurant door to our table with a very angry look on his face. He did not greet us, but instead said "Do NOT seat yourselves, if you do, you run the risk not being noticed or served at all". I corrected him and told him politely in a calm voice that we HAD asked to be seated, but were not, so we sat down. He did not apologize, but left if a huff. I guess the customer is NOT always right. I noticed that the Manager thanked other tables as they left, but he ignored us (fine) We completed our (great) meal, drinks and desert. The bill was over $100, and we tipped generously. Maybe the Manager was having a bad day, but he should not take it out on his customers. I am not sure if we will return to what was one of our favorite local restaurants.

We ordered the Bruschetta and the Salmon with Lemon Risotto, both of them prepared very well. The food tasted very fresh, and the presentation was lovely. I also ordered the Bolognese because I love a good dish of it. This one did not disappoint. However, the meat pieces were small pea-sized bits of beef, which tasted good, but looked a bit odd. I would like to know why, but I was too busy enjoying the dish. It is my birthday and so I was offered either a free cocktail or a dessert. I love a good treat so the flourless cake was my choice.
