Diner food just hits different after a Brewers game and concert. We'd been looking at this chain of diners since we moved here wondering what they were all about. Finally we heard from a trusted coworker that it was certainly worth checking out. We were jot disappointed! This location just after midnight-30 only had a few people inside still with ample seating and great, accessible parking. We were greeted upon entry and asked to seat ourselves. The waitstaff was kind and welcoming despite the night hour - I can imagine running a 24hr diner can be a hellscape but this staff was wonderful. Everyone was so gracious and personable. I ordered cheese fries for the table, pancakes for myself, and my spouse the mushroom and cheese omelette plate. These are seriously my ideal pancakes. Dense enough they don't soak and fall apart, spongy enough to hold the butter without soaking up all the syrup. The perfect amount of salty and sweet and the right amount of bite. And massive! I couldn't be happier. My spouse's omelette was really well seasoned and the fresh egg flavour really shined through. Hashbrowns were perfectly crisp and toasty - didn't feel over frozen or fake. I saw shoestring fries on other yelp photos and knew we needed to try them. The added cheese sauce was heaven. It didn't have that super fakey cheese taste and was actually quite cheddar-y and warm. With everything being cooked to order and super fresh, we were still served very timely! As we dined, they picked up quite a few more customers but everyone stayed well taken care of by the staff. It's a chill diner without a lot of noise even when a little busier and a television streaming. It's not like those overly fluorescent lit 24hr diners you may be familiar with. If I'm being honest, I hadn't been to a George Webb's in probably 15 years. Being a longtime vegetarian and now pescatarian, it just wasn't a place that lured me in. My Dad however is a huge fan and we ended up eating at this location twice in one month! Both times the servers were super nice and made sure to check on us regularly. The first time I had the fish fry which wasn't bad actually, but not the greatest either. The rye bread seemed a little stale. Second time was breakfast and let me just say, the scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly in my opinion. This place has a real following and you can tell they have daily regulars. The place is clean, the food is decent, the prices are reasonable for what you get. Just knowing my Grandparents used to frequent this location made me nostalgic to be there. read more

Went in early this morning (4am). The waitress said someone was coming to clean the flat top range hood at 430 am so they couldn't serve us food. No fryer food either. Settled on a bowl of soup because that's all we could get. Saw her turn down multiple customers because of the grill hood being cleaned (which never happened at 430) As we were leaving, we watched her put food on the grill to cook. Then when I asked why she could cook now..: "I'm just heating something up". Then locked the door and said they were closed and to leave. When you want George Webb, nothing else will do. For my fellow out of town folks, George Webb is basically the local Waffle House. It's open 24/7 and in some ways is the right answer if you have been drinking, or just need a dead cheap diner meal. The food isn't as good as Pegasus or even Omega, two other 24 hour options... but there are a LOT more of them through town. If you have a friend crying that her boyfriend has cheated on her for the 8th time... take her drunk butt here, shove pancakes and cheap burgers at her, and nod while thinking "And your dumb ass is going to take him back so he will cheat on you 9 times." This is a place for broke third shift workers, people who need to sober up, and college kids. If that's what you need, it's perfect. The service is friendly, the food cheap and adequate, and it is exactly what it is. Don't expect great food, but I've taken my fancy foodie ass here at least 5 times because it fit what I needed at the time. I hope they never close. It's not going to woe you but sometimes you just need a comfortable diner. read more

My burger was great, but rude server. I was just starting to give order and the server got a personal phone call and walked away and talked on the phone for a few minutes. We ordered, and got our food in a timely manner but no napkins or silverware. Our waitress was talking to a man who she obviously knew. My mom asked a different waitress for a fork and napkins. She gave us a look , like it was a inconvenience. She gave us one napkin/fork. Finally our waitress walked by and asked for another napkin. There was one waitress who was very busy bussing tables and taking orders. Sadly, doing most of the work. The other two were too busy talking on the phones or visiting. I won't be back. We have been coming every Saturday for almost a year. Eat the same thing every Saturday. Some days are busier than others but that's to be expected. What makes this fantastic is they recognize my baby girl! It's really something when your 2 year old is thrilled to see someone that they've had such a small interaction with. We had a horrible experience at this location. George Webb has been known as a treasure in Milwaukee for years however, we walked in and quickly exited due to a young employee. He was very disrespectful. He was speaking to two patrons and we overheard his vile language as we came and sat down. I at first dismissed his chatter but the more I glanced the menu, the more irate I became at how disrespectful he was about women, his place of employment, and other patrons so we left. The only place that is open very late at night in Wauwatosa area. Menu is not just limited to breakfast food. They have a couple of burgers and some stuff. I got the double cheeseburger and I may say it's bomb! Bread is so fresh and the patties are grease free and you can tell it's all pure meat in there. Fries are well done and the people who work there are very friendly. Definitely it's the place to go when you have that past midnight hunger. read more

It wasn't perfect, but it was a pretty nice Mother's Day breakfast. I'm guessing it was the owner, but a gentleman in a bacon apron came around and gave each of us a slice of bacon. Then he came back later with a soft, miniature football with the GW logo. And then a box of Girl Scout cookies. To top it off, free pancakes for mom. This is the one nicest George Webb - much bigger and more pleasant than the typical George Webb. It may also be non-smoking at this location (no one was smoking at a recent visit), which would solve one of the biggest issues with most George Webbs. I used to live in Wisconsin but now live in California. Nevertheless, I come to a George Webb on every visit for the signature chili and a cheap tasty burger with fried onions. I must say, however, that on my last two visits (last week and 6 weeks ago) I have been disappointed by the chili - it seems to have changed dramatically. For the 40 years or so that I can remember, George Webb chili has been fairly soupy with a tasty combination of long spagehtti noodles, ground beef, pinto beans, and a heavy dose of chili powder. The chili could simmer on the stove all day and still taste fresh. It has been my 2nd favorite chili for decades (with Real Chili being my favorite). But recently the chili has been very thick, and has been mealy as the starch has broken down after a long time on the stove. For the first time ever, I did not finish my bowl on the last visit. My Dad, who has been coming to Geo. Webb weekly for maybe 50 years (?) also complained, and we agreed that because of our experience with the chili at two different locations on my last two visits and his recent experiences that we would skip george Webb in the future. It's still a great place for "breakfast anytime" and for excellent cheap burgers, but when I visit Milwaukee I only go where they serve may favorite foods - unfortunately GW chili was a favorite but is no more. read more

This location is surprisingly expensive ($30 breakfast for 2) and in desperate need of a makeover. Overall a positive impression. My kids and I dropped by for a late dinner after seeing a movie at Mayfair (app. 9 pm). Only one another couple sitting at a booth, nearly finished with their meal. The waitress never once smiled, rather looked at us as though we were inconveniencing her. It's odd since they have to be there anyway, because it is 24/7. I'm all about the hard work folks at these establishments have to undergo. I would rather over tip rather than under tip. Hence the three of us just got up and left.
