My wife and I went to Open Flame on Valentine's Day. It was decorated to fit the occasion. Balloons and red everywhere! We arrived for our 6:00 reservation a little late, but were seated immediately. Upon being seated, we noticed it was quite crowded and were prepared for a few bumps along the road. Our waiter came to our table relatively quickly. Gave us waters and asked if we wanted any drinks. My wife went with a Diet Pepsi and I ordered the Wisconsin old fashioned. When the drinks came we were ready to order and put in our food order. My wife always gets the New York strip, but wasn't positive how she wanted it prepared. The waiter suggested to get it a step lower because they could always recook it but you can't bring it back. So she went with medium (she later stopped the waiter to change it to medium well). She also noticed on the menu that she could get a Grecian side salad instead of the house side salad for $2.95 extra. She went with that and a side of French fries. I had never been to Open Flame but my wife was raving about their steaks. So I decided to follow suit. I got the New York strip steak cooked medium. I always get French onion soup with my steak, and I also decided on French fries. A few minutes later we get our salad and soup. Except that she was brought the dinner sized salad instead of the side salad. After mulling this over when the waiter came back to ask how the first few bites were we told him about the mix up. He said that he told us it would be an up-charge and we knew that going in. We told him about the fine print on the menu where it said it'd be a side salad. He went and found a manager and they went to the serving kiosk. The came back to the table and said that it would be adjusted on our bill. The salad was gigantic and had lots of feta, onions, bell peppers, and pepperoncinis. The French onion soup was very delicious as well. After looking around I noticed that all the tables around us had bread baskets and we didn't have one. When the waiter came to clear our plates and give us a box for the salad I asked for one and he said he'd get it. Shortly after that we got our steaks. One of them had a white stick in it to tell which steak was cooked which temp. I cut into the steak without the stick and told my wife we had to switch, and we were very glad we did. Her steak was cooked a wonderful medium well and the medium steak was cooked very well and the center was still warm. The fries were quite delightful and the vegetables were cooked very well too. The vegetables just needed a touch of salt and pepper. The bread came at the same time as our dinners and it was welcomed because it was warm and pillowy inside but the crust had a nice firmness to it. It was great to sop up the steak juice on the plate. The experience was pretty good all things considered, it was a busy night with a lot going on. We both took some food home to enjoy later one. When the bill came we were anxious to see how much off they took from the dinner salad. They made it right and gave it to us for the price of the side salad upgrade. It was a 30 minute drive for us and we talked on our walk back to the car that we would indeed be back, but not at such a premium time or date. read more

We stopped in for dinner on a Friday night at peak dinner service. We sat in the bar area and chatted with our server and the manager explaining how our grocery pick up order had just gone sideways and dinner was now out. We ordered the Chicken Kebobs and Seafood Platter and both were delightful! Our first round of drinks was also comped unexpectedly. The manager said it was the least he could do. We had attended a funeral earlier in the day. The after dinner get together was at the open flame. When we arrived at our table, there was a plate of olive oil and a bread basket with delicious soft bread arrived shortly after for us to dunk in. We had four choices for our dinner entrée. All of them sounded, and when they arrived at the dinner table, they looked and smelled absolutely delicious. I chose the wood smoked Greek chicken. It had such good lemony flavor, but not overpowering and I love the grill marks with a hint of smoke to it. It was served with garlic, red mashed potatoes absolutely delicious and roasted carrots and broccoli again absolutely delicious. We also had a salad and it was huge. the vegetables were all completely crunchy and fresh. Our waitress who helped all of us again for a funeral setting was very sweet and caring. My financial advisor holds a ladies luncheon every year in February, for Valentines Day for his female clients. After a couple years and some staff changes in the office we resumed having it at the Open Flame. I think there was about 20 of us this year and they put us in a side room with a dedicated waitress and everything was perfect. The private space, the waitress, the food, everything were above par. They do serve breakfast all day, plus lunch and dinner menus. They even serve drinks and several ladies imbibed on Bloody Mary's and wine. I just had a diet pepsi and free refills were included. Soups of the day were a cream of spinach and chicken dumpling. They started us out with warm bread baskets and that was served with butter or an olive oil dipping sauce, the bread was very good but I only had 1 piece. Who wants to get full on bread when you have 2 more courses coming, right! I chose the cream of spinach soup and it was very creamy and delicious. For my entree I chose the chicken marsala. Served with a crab cake, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. I tried to finish it all but just couldn't do it. Ok I'm done with this restaurant because my last two orders were messed up and today's order was seriously messed up. I called in for takeout and I wanted the Philly cheesesteak that comes with Swiss cheese and I ask the guy who took my order if I could have American cheese because I tell him that I hate Swiss cheese and he says yes. I also ask for mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion. When I get my food home and looked at it it has Swiss cheese which I explained to him that I hate. I look closer at the sandwich and it's only lettuce and tomato with no onions or mayo and the receipt states mayo but he didn't put the onions in my request that I specifically asked for, yeah maybe he thought that the grilled onions which comes on the sandwich was enough but as a restaurant you can't put 2 and 2 together that I'm asking for fresh burger toppings, guess not. Seriously how do you as an established restaurant completely F up a simple sandwich request and at the $21.43 price point for a sandwich with frys I expect a correctly made sandwich when I could have went to any fast food restaurant and got a sandwich and frys for half that price. Stopped in Saturday evening around 6 and it was packed! We were seated quickly but waited almost 10 minutes before a server acknowledged us, but once he did he was on it. We could see they were understaffed for the amount of business so we gave some grace. Our server brought bread right away and took our order quickly. The bread was fresh and hot from oven, delicious. My husband has the pecan crusted sea bass with roasted red potatoes with a salad. He said it was very good and cooked perfectly. His salad was fresh and good portion size. I had the cashew chicken schnitzel with mashed potatoes and the chicken was divine! The arugula, tomato's and cream sauce on it was perfect addition, only complaint was my potato's were cold. This was our first time at this place. It was a Monday night dinner choice. Easy to get to lots of parking warm atmosphere. The service was very good. I could see them taking initiative when we needed something and she didn't ask a ton of questions. I had the beef stroganoff there was not one piece of fatty meat in it. Open Flame seemed like it would fit the bill, having a menu that my boyfriend and I would enjoy (he likes steak), and this area is flooded with fast food options, which this obviously isn't. Our server was friendly and attentive and our food was pretty good. I had the chicken and ribs and my boyfriend had some beef medallions in a wine sauce. The women's washroom needs some work. I heard some weird dripping sounds and I saw this plastic tub about 75% full of water. Gross! Either fix the problem or put an out of order sign up. Would I come back, probably. The food tasted like I ate at a senior living facility. I ordered grilled shrimp which was made in a pan and overcooked with broiled flounder which came soggy AFTER I was served microwaved ribs that I didn't order! The ceiling tiles show signs of significant water damage. There is dust on every surface and fake plants and mirrors to make this shrine look like you just arrived at the local Senior Center. On the way out it was evident the crowded lot was congregated in the bar as this is the ONLY watering hole in the area! That explains it all...This place was BEYOND DISAPPOINTING. The ferals did enjoy the fish, crab and shrimp that I took home for them... NEVER AGAIN! I do nominate this place for a restaurant makeover though! The manager himself (if i'm not mistaken) also made sure all customers were helped which I found pleasant (most managers don't care for their customers unless something is wrong). Our food was very good and dished beautifully. We ordered their famous 5 cheese fried mac although the portions were small, it was worth it. We ordered the steak medallions medium-well, they were not prepared medium-well but we didn't complain and simply let our server know that we were going to just deal with it. She surprised us and told us to save room that they were remaking our plates! this was extremely thoughtful and unexpected. Their alcoholic adult beverages were delicious. Open Flame provided comfort, a good meal, and great service! We went on a busy weekend. Their parking lot is a bit chaotic, but they have plenty of spots. We were given a buzzer and told we'd have to wait 15 minutes, but we were being led to our table in about 6-7 minutes. We were seated at a booth and our server introduced himself right away. We were given bread with oil and good dinner salads. Veggies and lettuce were fresh, ranch dressing was tasty. My husband had the prime rib and I had the spaghetti. My pasta was good, but husband's prime rib was the real winner! He substituted the potato for green beans. I tried a few bites and will definitely get this next time. Ordered two specials off the menu. I had the rotisserie roasted pork loin, mashed potatoes, and vegetable medley. The soup was cheese enchilada, and it was outstanding. Just absolutely fantastic surprise find! Wife and I stopped here on a whim while we were in the area after seeing it while tipping off the gas tank. Seriously random but seriously great atmosphere, price, and food! All the way down to the bread with flared infused oils. I had almond crusted walleye and my wife had chicken pot pie - soup and salad and roasted red potatoes and fresh fruit accompanied our food (some with hers some with mine but ya get the point. Total (as we didn't have drinks only water with lemon) was UNDER $40, $50 after waitress was taken care of for her wonderful service. Coffees and waters were not refilled unless asked. Waitress left the table without taking all orders and had to be tracked down to finish our tables order. For a table of seven it took (3) different r deliveries of food (many minutes apart) for us all to have our meals). Food was passable, nothing was especially good or memorable as far as taste. Our server, Malek, was always cheerful and helpful. He frequently stopped by to check on us and the food. Quickly took our drink order. Variety of food for different ages and likes is great. Kids had ribs, chicken tenders and fish fry. They devoured it. Adults had Atlantic salmon, gyro, prime rib and hand breaded perch, the best I've ever eaten. Warm bread and dipping sauce was included.
