Came here for the first time with some friends for their Friday country night. Music was good! Lots of line dancing and also swing dances and two-step with a good mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced dances. The dance floor is huge and it works really well when lots of people come out on the floor for a line dance. They have a mechanical bull too and had tons of halloween decorations up. Also just wanted to add that the ventilation was great - not too hot which is so key when you're dancing all night! Definitely will be back! read more

Super fun country bar that has amazing drinks, prices, mix of younger and older crowd, and a great atmosphere. There's a large dance floor with lights and they even have a bull pit. The cover charge is usually only $5 which is reasonable. read more

Visited Mavericks for the first time this evening with several work colleagues. The place was empty when we got there around 5 pm, though there were a lot of folks at Pick 6 next door (they are connected and share bathrooms). We all ordered drinks, mostly beer, though a couple ordered hard alcohol. They were out of Guinness on tap so I decided to try a couple of IPAs, finally settling on a tall glass of the Deschutes "fresh squeezed" IPA, out of Bend OR. My beer was so citrusy good I chugged it and got a nice buzz (high ABV will do that to you, especially on an empty stomach). I had to eat, as I REALLY wanted one more beer! The bartender recommended the chicken nachos, which were excellent, and went very well with my second tall Deschutes "fresh squeezed" IPA. I looked around. The lounge was spacious, with a warehouse feel to it, games like Jenga and Connect Four, and lots of tables, most low with chairs, a few high with bar stools. A mechanical bull at one end, a dance floor at the other, and Jack Daniels oak barrels scattered around all over completed the industrial look. Should be a fun place to hang out it in, I thought to myself, too bad there was no one else there besides our group, which was rapidly dwindling because many of us had to go back home to our spouses and kids. But that's ok, because I will be back - maybe with the missus on a weekend. There's a bull I want to ride, some dancing to be had, and if neither of those work out, the beer and food ain't too shabby either! read more

When I don't want to go all the way to Fremont for Saddlerack, I come here and I'm never disappointed. I've been on the mechanical bull more times that I can count. The bands that perform here always get everyone going, the best part is there is a HUGE dance floor so you aren't crammed with everyone else there. They make great drinks, awesome food and you can walk between here and Pick 6. Chill atmosphere for sure! Five stars! read more

Went out after work to wish a colleague farewell. Our group of 10 had an awesome experience! The food was great, the drinks were even better! The best part was our server Allison. She was very friendly, personable, and had the best multi tasking skills I've seen! Not only was she our server, she was also the bartender! Love this place. I come by every couple weeks. Great drinks, good service. Yummy food. The Wing specials are great. The atmosphere gets a little too wild for me after 10 or 11pm. The place fills with drunk, loud, inconsiderate 20 somethings. The staff does a good job of keeping things cool as much as they can but I'm usually ok with just leaving at that point. Go early, come hungry and thirsty. The only place in the area with beautiful atmosphere and the best country music. read more

Great country bar in our own backyard. Come early for the line dancing lessons and then stay and dance awhile. Staff is very friendly and they have a lemonade jar of water out on the bar! Which is just one of this places little down home charms. There was a cover on the Saturday night we went-$10. So not too spendie but be prepared for that. I have been here twice and both times I was pretty...well...I had quite a few drinks. It's a nice local country bar. It's pretty mellow, not trashy, but also not upscale. The crowd is sorta diverse, lots of cowboy hats, but not everyone. Everyone seems to get along pretty well. The inside is surprisingly spacious. There is a pretty substantially sized dance floor and stage. The second time I went they had a really good country band playing. They have a mechanical bull which I saw a few people fall off of. I'm sure that area gets fun. The bar is decent, long and pretty easy to get a drink. The bartenders are really nice. There are some standing tables there and some sitting tables on the other side of it. Overall I'd definitely come back if I was in the right mood and didn't have any other ideas. read more

I attended a large party at this location. Ive known the people putting on the party for years and knew I was welcome but the people who obviously own/manage the location treated everyone entering very strangely. There was this element of distrust given to everyone. One guy in particular was very, I don't know, on edge. Mind you this was pretty much a work event for mostly middle aged, middle class, upstanding working class people. We really aren't a seedy group of people who are going to set the roof on fire. They had a stage set up for some performances. A multitude of tables and chairs were along the walls. In the center of the large center area there were couches, chairs and small tables. They set it all up like a club atmosphere. The lighting was definitely like a club. On one side of the room there is a big bar. I never really went over there but it was fully stocked and they had two bartenders attending to everyone. It was a fun event and from what I understand they have thrown this event again. Maverick's is OK...but not my first choice for a dance venue. The dance floor is terrible...it's got ridges that you can trip over, it's warped and slants on the sides...not good at all. I'm always super afraid that I may trip and fall. When line dancing, i've learned where I can dance and stay safe...but circle dances get a little dicey. We go to Maverick's to support one of our favorite line dance instructors--Heide Dee. She's great and always leads a very fun night of lessons. We've been there when there has been DJ only and live music. We prefer the DJ nights because they can play songs we can line dance to vs. the bands who are excessively loud and often times play listening country music or repetitive dance music (i.e. - everything is a 2 step tempo, etc.)- one dimensional...one can only do the tush push so many times before one gets burned out. Food is OK- edible, not gourmet by any stretch, but a quick meal or snack that takes care of any hunger. Drinks are decent- pour and price. Water is free - they actually don't sell bottled water and the tap water is good. Staff is friendly enough...overall this place could be much better-- main things needing attention is the dance floor and then bringing in bands that are more dancer-friendly/diversified...or just keeping it DJ only nights on the Heide lesson nights--I think that would keep plenty of dancers there well into the late night...and the Saturday crowd of dancers do drink--so it would be profitable for the bar. read more

Mavericks is an amazing party venue! We just recently had a celebration of life event there and we could not have found a better place. Lisa, the event coordinator, was fantastic. She was responsive and helpful with everything, plus it was very reasonable to rent out compared to most venues we were looking at. We had a full crowd and the three bartenders worked so hard and were awesome. The food (appetizers and a taco bar) was incredibly delicious so big thanks to Juan. They were so accommodating to all of our requests and we were able to bring in rented tables and chairs, flowers, and they even provided some additional high top tables which worked out great. Tom and Debbi, the owners, called beforehand to confirm everything was ready, and they even were there at the event to help out. Incredible service and people at Mavericks. After our event, we were able to move over to the bar next door (The Draft) and continue celebrating. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and we can't thank the team at Mavericks enough for making this a wonderful celebration of life. Place is usually pretty busy with parties Downside, floor is a lil small but not a deal breaker. Some slight lifting in floor that makes it uncomfortable. I would love to give this place 5 stars, and still have hope, but it was closed both times! I drove from Modesto on a Tuesday night (1-9-18) to swing dance because the online hours showed it was open just to find the online hours were wrong. The staff at Pick 6 informed us mavericks is only open Thursday- Saturday. Ok, no big deal, google needs to be updated. But THEN we showed up on Thursday, about 9:15 for the advertised thirsty Thursday starting at 9pm and get told the bartender showed up and just left because no one was at the bar yet, so again mavericks was closed. I've really wanted to check this place out, but I want to be sure if I drive from Modesto a third time, I won't be disappointed... read more

Kristen the bar tender was by far the worst! We paid $10 to get in. Had to wait 20 minutes for a beer, then she basically threw our bill at us. We usually have a great time here, but tonight made us second guess coming here. She was too busy wondering what the male bartender was doing. read more

Bad from the start. Asked for a rum and coke, got a coke and tsp of Rum. Food was ok that's why I gave a two star. But I was here at 3:30 and stayed late. This place is two bars in one location. The bathroom is located in the next bar over. So went to the bathroom, come back and there's a bouncer. He tells me I got to go around to the front to get a stamp. I as a understandable person go to the front. Now there is a sign for a ten dollar cover charge. Dude stops me, Tells me there is a cover charge. I told him I've been here since early. He said how early. I say 3:30. I bought food at the other place and I watched my buddies ride the bull. Dude wasn't having it. It was like a f-ing interrogation. Older gentleman walks up says "what party you with?" I told him, dude stamps my hand and let's me in. Screw that one star it is. read more
