Cool Thor art exhibit in the front window!

Fun little single screen theater nestled in our new home town. We lived in the area a while ago and were excited to see that the Chabot is still around and owned by passionate people that bring an appreciation of the arts to the area! Not only are there first run premiers, but there are also older movies from time to time, local short films, events and even trivia nights. They also do some cool collaborations with the comic/card shop next door where they do a Q&A after some of the movies. What a fun way to learn more about the show! They have snacks, drinks (beer and wine for the adults!) and I think they sometimes have pop up food vendors as well. Everyone that works here is friendly and engaging and helps round out the overall experience. There is also a membership and for a nominal fee you get some popcorn each month. You can also buy t shirts and other swag to represent.

It's been a while since my family and I watched a movie here. We heard it was under new management, they did some remodeling. It was easy to purchase tickets online. You an reserve seats on their website. We walked in and noticed that the concession stand was remodeled. We watched on Tuesday. The gentlemen in the front told us on Tuesday everything is half off- tickets and popcorn/drinks/candies. There were two gentlemen at the front- both were very friendly and professional. The bathroom was also remodeled. Looks much better. My husband told me that they are offering a membership. I'll be sure to look into it. Will definitely be back with the family.

Not a big fan of this theatre. Don't get me wrong prices are great! My fiancé, babygirl & I watched Toy Story 4 for $2 each ticket!! I don't remember what day it was but it was around noon-ish. I know that bags get checked, because they don't allow outdoor food/drink. I however found it funny when 5 differenf groups ahead of us in line. 3 ladies before me (2 of which had big purses, 1 backpack purse) DID NOT get bag checked. I will say all 3 ladies were caucasian looking. 2 ladies in 20's maybe and an elderly woman. None of them were stopped or asked to open their bag at all!! But when I get to the door after purchasing the tickets. I have a small backpack purse. With literally only 1 diaper, wipes, keys, wallet, rubber bands for my braces & lip balm! He stops me with his light stick. Says "how are we today?" Can you please open the bag. It's policy. I said "really?" Okay. Funny how you allowed your policy to slide for the previous 3 woman who walked in before me. But okay. Here's your policy. "Care for a diaper? Maybe some lip balm" then I walked off frustrated! Because I felt hella discriminated. Like why look at my bag? Not anyone else's. But whatever. Prices for concessions are basically the same as any other theatre, pretty high. The last 2 times we came, popcorn was burned & cold. Soda was flat. The seats aren't high enough between rows in my opinion. Someones head is always in my way. My daughter def can't see sitting in her own seat. Very tight! The sound quality is okay. I think i'd stick to Sundays at Jack London $5.50 + great movie rewards on the app. Big comfy seats. We always have free drink coupons or upgrades. Plus they don't do bag checks &/or we've brought outdoor food & drinks in here plenty of times without issues.

Wow. Hard to beat prices! $4 Tuesday and $5 before 6 pm EVERY DAY. You heard me...EVERY DAY. After 6 pm, it's $8.50 per person which is still a steal! They have one auditorium that can seat around 350 people. The balcony area has more leg room, so if that's important to you, come early to grab a seat since seats are not assigned. I honestly thought this theater only featured indie films, but so far, they've had popular movies like Lego Movie 2, How To Drain Your Dragon: The Hidden World, and Captain Marvel. If they keep showing such popular films, I definitely see myself coming here more often, especially since it's so close by.

A small theater located along Castro Valley Blvd. We came here to watch The Farewell. The place was very clean and the screen is huge. The volume was quite loud, and could be heard as you walk into the theater. The concession items were more expensive than other larger theaters. Overall, it was a pleasant experience that I really enjoyed. We will definitely be back to view other movies.

We had a movie birthday party for our daughter who turned 5 this past weekend and the service from staff, as well as coordinating with the manager, Josh prior to the event was FANTASTIC! Josh was polite, helpful, responsive and efficient. He offered suggestions and made himself accessible during the planning process if I had questions and/or needed assistance leading up the party the day of. The Sunday staff was FANTASTIC! They were nice, polite, patient and helpful which went a long way in our book. Working with little one's early in the morning can often be taxing but everyone was so pleasant and gracious and I couldn't have been more pleased with our decision to host the movie birthday party at the theater. They even wished her a Happy Birthday and put her name on the marquee which made the experience all that more special for her. She was overjoyed to be able to watch Frozen II with all of her friends for her birthday and hasn't stopped talking about how much fun she had. Her parents and guests haven't stopped raving about how great the theater and staff were during the visit. We highly recommend!

Ask the Community - Chabot Theater

Hello. I have a situation that I would like brought up to the management but I don't have a contact number. The number on the website is a recording and there are no other avenues that I see to report my situation. Can someone please help?

Yes, the recording line is just that. For more direct contact, you can email directly to Josh@thechabot.com or pop by to speak with him. He is there Thursday thru Monday during most theater hours. There really is not an answerable phone on site.

Is this place wheelchair accessible? Accessible bathroom? I can't find anything on the website and the phone number only goes to a recording that doesn't mention access.

Hi--thanks for the message. Ill answer this way; the theater remains original with somewhat steep ramping as it was in 1949 so it is not ADA compliant, BUT, it is wheelchair accessible. There are no stairs that block access to the theater. We have… Read more

Does this place have bike parking ? if so, where? :)

As the theater was built in the 1940s with no parking lot...there is no parking provided, 4 wheels or 2.

We had a nice intimate session, parked in a residential area, little quiet neighborhood in Sunnyvale, CA. The theaters was clean, fully equipped with snacks and drinks (free of charge) too! We ended up getting this experience free and that just made the cherry on top experience for us! The second time around, my friend rented out the mobile for the both of us! We hosted a Halloween event and nobody could even tell we were in the middle of a parking lot in a Campbell, CA park! lol All of my friends enjoyed and loved the concept. Again the experience was enjoyable and the theater was clean. The restroom though had a little odor though, so we had to keep the door closed for sure! My friend and I split the costs, which was $30 for egg rolls that we never even got. But that's okay, the driver said we would get a refund, not sure if she ever did! Andree the driver is amazing! He's super flexible, informative, and helpful! Hope he is always the driver when I book in the future! My mom actually recently booked the Mobile for my daughter's upcoming birthday in January! So I'm so excited about that!

First let me start with that Im a Hayward native and I remember this festival since I was a little…read moregirl. They have all the regular stuff, drinks, funnel cakes, garlic fries, rides and live music. It always brings back memories from years ago. The bad thing is that just to go it in for a family of 5 was $50 dollars and then the rides, food and wine/beer another $200. Guess what cash only to get in. Inside there are ATMs ($5.00 fee) and you can only get $100 dollars at a time. Luckily we had some cash. I really think if you spend this much money you should get in for free. It can be hard on some families to go and hang out with such high costs. But that aside the live bands on either side of the park, various tables to eat at and lots of zucchini bread (muffins on point $3.00 each) and fried zucchini delicious. I bought my commemorative 2017 wine glass with a serving of white zin for $10. Also available for beer with glass beer mugs. Philly cheese sandwiches, fish tacos, calamari, street tacos. Also jewelry, clothing, nick nacks of all kinds. Parking can be tough. Street parking and the parks parking lot or lots of people parking at Target. I got lucky and found street parking. But I will probably pass next year. Too expensive, not enough interesting things to do or see. Zucchini festival need to step up their game ASAP!!! I still love my Hayward though always have and always will.

Just Okay My wife…read moreand I went to the festival yesterday for the first time. The overall rating of 3 stars is appropriate. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hayward-zucchini-festival-hayward?select=dYSPf__c4ER98iLJE75kdg#41SxUmKUYCEKwtwWZfhESw: I was kind of a rebel. I walked in without paying because I was lazy and had a bad attitude (I didn't feel like walking to one of the official entrances, and I ignored this girl who tried to stop me- "Okay..."). My wife couldn't follow me in (she got blocked off by some guy), and so she paid $8 to enter (her purse was searched- the only thing lethal I had on me was my bad sense of humor). The tickets double as coupons for The Mexican, a restaurant that's just across the street ("20% Off your next on premise visit only"). Anyway, I'm glad that I didn't pay (the Fremont Festival of the Arts is much larger, and admission is free). http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hayward-zucchini-festival-hayward?select=dYSPf__c4ER98iLJE75kdg#socer8wJKXaipbNyzfww_A: The cashier was quite friendly. The guy grilling the food was a bit curt, but I only had to wait a minute for my hot dog. It would have been nice if there was a wider selection of drinks. In terms of the napkins, there were probably some around, but it wasn't obvious. There are about 5 good art booths. In general, though, we weren't interested in buying anything but food (there are a decent number of promotional booths, and we didn't check any of them out). http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hayward-zucchini-festival-hayward?select=dYSPf__c4ER98iLJE75kdg#IKhgQFTa30gT0BWoYo-PNw: The Kaye Bohler Band rocked the Main Stage (the Bohannon Stage is on the other side of the park- it's part of the kids area). Kaye has a powerful and bluesy voice. At the end of the show, she announced that customers who bought 2 CD's for $30 would be placed on the mailing list. The Rock Bottom Boys perform this afternoon. They're a fun and wonderful group (we saw them perform at the Alameda County Fair). As another reviewer mentions, zucchini isn't as prevalent as you would think. You can buy zucchini bread (for $4) and fried zucchini (for $6). That's about it. On the plus side, the zucchini bread is supposed to be great. We didn't look at them, but souvenirs are sold here. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hayward-zucchini-festival-hayward?select=dYSPf__c4ER98iLJE75kdg#bWle6qSKjx8-pRR-2KTknw: http://docsqnpit.com/: I was going to order from the other BBQ booth, but I noticed that their menu was more limited. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hayward-zucchini-festival-hayward?select=dYSPf__c4ER98iLJE75kdg#RKDtH2H7C3KudwEHpGpmxA: I'm anal when it comes to writing. On the menu, Link Sandwich should be Hot Link Sandwich, and Pull Pork should be Pulled Pork. Anyway, I would have asked for the sauce on the side if I knew that my hot link was going to be drenched with it. The main issue, though, is that it just wasn't that flavorful. It would have been fine if I got no sauce at all. The cashier struck me as being a bit crazy (he kept shouting and repeating himself). He and the others worked well together, though, and I only had to wait a minute for my hot link sandwich. Rib Meal: $11. Slab: $24. If possible (even a big eater like me can only eat so much), I would have bought a Rib Meal and also a Philly Cheesesteak (at least 3 booths sell them). At one point, we had to search for someplace to sit, but there's plenty of seating (I didn't know if these women in front of us were mother and daughter or lesbian lovers). At some spots, the ground is a bit uneven, so be careful while you're walking. We were here for over an hour. It was a good experience overall. It's worth going to the festival for the food and music. Kids should also have fun. I can't say, though, that it's worth $8 to enter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Binebu5mwkA
