I do believe this is a good restaurant but we must have not chosen well off the menu. I think next time we should try a sweet menu item rather than savory because the portions of the bannock eggs Benedict were shockingly small. There were three halves of small potatoes on my plate and 4 halves on my friend's. We waited over 3 hours for a table and left hungry. The bread was very small and there was hardly any sauce. But we saw a lot of plates going by piled high with pancakes, etc. so next time I would order something like that. Very cute spot though for sure! read more

I don't normally go for the "standard' breakfast offering as I prefer to try new dishes. I was torn between My Breakfast in Tokyo and Christmas Pasta (which lists as an ingredient, "Family drama.") but when I saw someone at the table next to me get the classic-style breakfast I had to get it. It was so delicious... with candied thick cut bacon, homemade bread-turned toast, fresh jam and potatoes. My brekkie companion had a salmon hash dish that I sampled which was also increíble. I now have at least eight dishes that I want to try... and eight reasons to go back. On weekends they don't take reservations so use the waitlist feature on Yelp. read more

Cool brunch and cocktails place. Went on Canada day, but it's busy every weekend. Make sure to do a lineup via yelp app. The service was alright but not the best. Really long waits between and even just paying the check as their clearly short staffed but that's the reality of the restaurant industry in 2022. Nothing specific against Maven. The drinks are decent but nothing amazing, I had a patio gossip cocktail. $13 for something kinda forgettable. Had coffee and it was Phil and Sebastian. Had salmon gravlax Benny's , polenta, tebeling road noodles, and fruit. Enjoyable food and properly cooked. Well presented. The seating is extremely tight and I sat beside a bookshelf. Would go again and recommend but the hype surrounding it causes the wait times and service to be a bit slow. Catch 22 problem. The place can get loud as it's an open kitchen. read more

This is my favourite brunch places! I love the unique flavours you can't find anywhere else. The kaya toast takes me back to my childhood and the congee is like a warm hug to me. The braised beef is a must and I have not been disappointed when trying other items on the menu. read more

This was a great place to stop at for lunch! I came with three friends and I had the 'My Breakfast In Tokyo' with poached eggs, salmon gravlax with nori, rice and miso soup. It was delicious! I also ordered the spinach mushrooms on toast, YUM! We also ordered 'Kaya French Toast' Coconut Pandan jam on French toast with one poached egg. Also ordered Candied Bacon Eggs Benny. The bacon was thick cut. ( I would of liked it thinner so it would be more crispy) we had ordered cafe mocha, London Fog to go with our meal. Everything was great! The miso was not as flavourful as I have hoped. All in all.it was good. We compared it to Queen's and all 3 of us thought Queen's overall was a better meal. However it is a great place to enjoy with friends and the atmosphere was great, the service staff was beyond great! I do recommend this place for brunch. I called in the restaurant at 8 AM in the morning, wanting to reserve for 3 ppl. I was told we need to waitlist on yelp. And the guy picked up was extremely nice and told me if i want to come around 11 AM i need to reserve around 9:45. Which i did, and then the system shows check in by 1:25pm. I got to the restaurant around 11 ish. Asking if the wait time is accurate, is it really 1 pm? One waitress told me it may be faster. She will text me. The other one pretty much just said I need to get out of the waiting area in a nice way... i woke up at 8 am for this guys, and its cold outside i had no where else to go read more

When Maven first opened it was amazing! Food quality snd originality. My partner and I usually come every month. However the last few times have been really disappointing. Today for example, our pancakes were dry and overcooked. I had for my eggs hard and the yolk was so runny I think they were done easy. Our server was constantly coughing over us and while delivering our food. Overall I am sad the service and food hasn't been as good the last few months as it was once a must go spot. read more
