I came here with my sister on a weeknight. I had only been there once before and it was okay. We ordered seasoned fries and we had to send them back because they were raw. After we got them back they were still not fully cooked. When our entrees came out shrimp chaufa and it was probably the worst thing I have ever eaten in my entire life. The shrimp had a funky taste, like how I imagine old mop water tastes based on the smell. I asked one of the waiters if there was a manager or owner around and the owner had stepped out. My sisters chicken chaufa was bland and the meat had an old taste. I don't think I would ever eat here again. It was overpriced for the service that we got, and I don't think I'm ready to ever experience the taste of old food ever again. read more

I love this place, My husband and I go all the time! Never been disapointed. Prices are good also! My favorite are the empanadas. Don't miss out, check this little jewel out! read more

First and last time going to this place. Decided to go there for Mother's Day and it was a complete disappointment. The portions were too small for the prices they make you pay. And it is NOT authentic peruvia n food. This is like saying Chilli's is real Mexican food. The service was awfull. The waitress seemed upset that we showed up to begin with. Wouldn't pay attention to us when we needed something and it took FOREVER to get our food. Definitely not worth what they make you pay. read more

I came here to celebrate my birthday, and I must say that this is one of the best places to eat. It was my first time experiencing Peruvian cuisine, but it wouldn't be the last. Drinks, appetizers to main dishes were amazing. I will definitely be back! read more

Great service, music, drinks and eats at Maura's last night! We had several tapas including the crab croquettes, empanadas and guacamole--all yummy! The Arroz Verde was very tasty too. Highly recommend Maura's! read more

The drinks were terrible and the waiter never refilled our water or brought back the hot sauce I asked for. Then the manager chased us down the street to ask us why we didn't give a higher tip. Maybe because there was never water in my cup. read more

Mauras Kicthen has amazing food and the bartenders, Katy and Lauren are outstanding, very attentive and quick service is what I appreciate the most and they have met my expectations. read more

We consider ourselves kind of experts in Peruvian food, having tried it in three different continents from the most upscale places to moms and pops I was surprised with this place but for the wrong reasons. Let me clarify that I've been using this app for several years I felt compelled to write my first review due to the VERY disappointing experience we had here, definitely the worst Peruvian restaurant we've ever been (somehow it had 4 stars when I checked) Let me start with the quality of ingredients, tilapia is used for most ceviches which is the cheapest fish you can find, sea food is not fresh at all you can definitely tell they use frozen food, secondly they don't even know how to prepare basic stuff: e.g. fried calamari was over cooked and dry. Regarding cocktails served at this place you would think that a simple pisco sour was a safe bet since its relatively easy to prepare, however here this is basically a flavorless and sweet lemonade with some foam on top. Finally and more importantly I don't understand how they consider this a Peruvian restaurant, NONE of the different plates we ordered resembled by far the true flavors and ingredients used in Peruvian food. To summarize It's truly insulting to call this a Peruvian place, it is more of a MEDIOCRE Latin food place. read more

This place is a little gem. Came here and fell in love the atmosphere is clean cozy and relaxing. Had the rib-eye steak and tapas appetizer yuka fries, grilled oyster so good. Had a cucumber sangria another winner. The service was with a smile and attentive. So come and try this beautiful place. Thank you I will be returning. Sivan was great one of the many reasons I will highly recommend Maura's . read more

This is the reason why I made this yelp account because this was probably one of the best dining expirences I have ever had! The service was on point and the food was amazing and beyond my expectations!! The woman we had serving us (I believe her name was Marlene?) Is a wonderful woman and I would recommend everyone to eat at this gem. read more

I loved the music there!! Good prices! The next visit I want to try the food. Nice place!

I don't understand the rave reviews? I went to the new location so maybe new management? As soon as we arrived the hostess told us that we only have 1 hour to eat and need to leave at 9:30 because the band was about to come and needed to set up?! Huh? Who says that to customers? Have you heard of proper etiquette? There were empty booths along the opposite wall that we could have been seated but she insisted on seating us where the band would set up (no, those tables weren't reserved because they remained empty the rest of the time we were there). The place has ZERO ambiance, nothing that shows that this is a Latin or Peruvian restaurant. Bare walls, no music, just very loud people shouting over one another. The food was extremely bland. I only enjoyed the sweet plantains. I really wanted to enjoy this but sadly I didn't. read more

If you are looking for authentic Peruvian food this is not the place for you I had the Lomo Beef it doesn't even come with the soggy frenchfries I definitely didn't understand the high reviews .I would never go there again read more

I've heard such good things about the old location, that when they opened the new place I just had to try! Came with a group of co-workers for a birthday last night and it was a delightful experience. The cocktails were good, the food... OMG THE FOOD. So good! My one complaint is that it was a little pricey, but the quality was good as was the service. My first Peruvian food experience and it won't be my last. read more

Excellent variety of foods to choose. We enjoyed every dish. I will visit again soon and take pictures. The food was so good I forgot to take pictures before gobbling it up! read more

Good food, nice people, close to my house. Admittedly I am the worlds worst food critic (I never met a meal I didn't like) but this place really is good. Try it, you'll like it. read more

Their service was slow. Very slow. But the flavors of their dishes and their WINTER SANGRIA made it worthwile. I can not wait until they move into their new space - the tables will be bigger, the service faster, and we can sample more items from their menu. Very very good food with some surprising pan asian and Peruvian flavor combinations. read more

Maura's Kitchen - This shrimp dish was SUPERB. I wanted to lick the plate clean it was so yummy. Their WINTER SANGRIA was the most amazing infusion of flavors - Peruvian Near Me - Nyack, New York

I would give this place a 4 star but the service goes 's above and beyond of mediocrity. They didn't have a hostess, the bartender was eating and talking to guests at the bar with her mouth full of food, while we were waiting to catch her attention to hopefully order before the restaurant closed, and waiting to order another drink, and then waiting to get the table clean, and of course to pay at the end. The food was good but the service was just plain bad. Hopefully that would change but for now I would have to wait to go to miami to eat some good peruvian food without being annoyed and embarrassed. read more

Omg this place is soooo yummy! I was literally thinking about their ceviche and the delicious pasta dish I ate there for days after I left. I can't wait to return. I've heard they have a great brunch on Sundays also. read more

Excellent Peruvian food! Went there for Father's Day. The ceviche was tasty; the empanadas were some of the best in NY; and the guacamole was to die for! Main entrees were excellent too! Lomo Saltado, angus beef sandwich, paella, and tons more!! Highly recommend this place for dates or large groups! read more

Love this place anytime I'm in the area it's a must visit destination. The octopus ceviche is amazing and the staff is super friendly. You can tell from the employees that they enjoy their job. The live Cuban band was amazing and the tapas were all very delicious. This place is a Hidden gem. read more

This is the first yelp review I've ever written, but this place deserves it... You walk in and it has a dinner atmosphere, but granted, they're just starting out. My girlfriend and I went here for my birthday and the food was incredible! Tyrone greeted us with open arms... Such a nice guy. They serve traditional Peruvian food with flavors and quality that made me smile from beginning to end. We ordered the ceviche sampler which turned out to be the best I've ever had. The lomo saltado (grilled meat, rice, peppers, onions in a lime and Peruvian soy sauce) was incredibly fresh, tasty and filling, and for desert the manager brought us out some some peruvian ice cream that was fruit based, but had flavors of butterscotch and caramel. (absolutely AMAZING!!!) To drinks we dabbled with two cocktails made with pisco porton. It has a certain crisp taste to it that made me want to savor. This has quickly become one of my favorite places in Nyack and I WILL be back for more... read more

Simply put: Outstanding. Get ready for an explosion of authentic Peruvian flavors in yo' mouth! Kind of impossible NOT to at this place because Maura is from Peru and is actually the Chef! Four words you need to know that will change your life forever: Lomo Saltado & Chicken Chaufa. I also really enjoy the Pisco Smash. Pisco + Riesling?? Mmm... not for the faint of sweet lol. (Be sure to check-in to receive $2 off your Pisco Cocktail!) I've come for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. If you're more than two people, I'd suggest making a reservation. Otherwise, you can always take your chances on grabbing seats at the bar. Only reason I can't give the full 5-stars is because, on both of my visits, Maura's son just did not seem to emit the warmest hospitality. On my last visit, my uncle asked for a "shot of Balvenie scotch, neat" which I understand can be misinterpreted because they're two different things: it's either you're ordering a "shot" or you're ordering "scotch, neat." I didn't put 2+2 together, until my uncle quietly said to me that he wasn't given "enough scotch." It wasn't until then when I realized, instead of asking my uncle for clarification, he assumed and served my uncle a shot rather than a full order of a scotch, neat. My uncle is really embarrassed with complaining about ANYthing, so I had no problem speaking up on his behalf because I was confident it would be received well. "Hey, sorry to be a pain, but aren't you supposed to get the same amount of scotch whether you order it on the rocks or neat?" His response? "Yah, but didn't you order a shot?" Naturally, this just made my uncle more uncomfortable than he did in the first place, so I decided not to pursue the conversation lol. My point is, he could have just said sorry and said he only served us a shot, let us know if we wanted it neat it would cost a little more, and just pour more in the glass! Am I right? I know some people might think this seems really petty, but I got bad hospitality vibes two visits in a row. (Sorry, Maura's son). Nonetheless, I will be back over and over again for the ridiculously amazing food. Thanks, Maura! read more

I had only been to this new location once before and while the food was as good as I remembered, I had found that it was too noisy. Maybe that makes me old, but it made for a dining experience I wasn't crazy about so I hadn't gone back in quite some time. Went yesterday morning to try out their brunch menu, and prior to I gave the warning about the volume of the place to my companion. Despite the noise, it was some great music and the service and food was so wonderful. I really had a great time for brunch. We ordered several things off the menu, got some bottomless drinks, and left feeling stuffed and toasty. Each drink we tried off the bottomless brunch menu was wonderfully crafted and had a great balance between flavor and didn't feel at all watered down as what often happens with brunch. The chorizo hash was absolutely amazing, and the pernil sliders seriously made me want to live in them, but what really blew my mind was the pancakes. Now I always order a sweet to accompany my brunch because I need a little sweetness next to my savory. But honestly I could have just had the pancakes and would have been fantastic. The pancakes were incredible!! They were fluffy, not sickeningly sweet, and came with these amazing caramelized plantains. each time I bit into them I felt like I was floating off into a heaven of pillowy and delicious happiness. I gotta come back again not just for brunch but for the food overall. I had forgotten just how good of a restaurant this place is!! read more

Went for Sunday brunch had an amazing time great music and the food and drinks were even better !

My wife and I walked in around 5:30 and nobody was there, we were seated but the waiter left us for over 20 minutes. We thought, OK that happens. We ordered drinks and a few more people came in. We were then ignored for another 15 plus minutes, while the waiter helped other couples. We still never received our drinks. My wife and I, felt we should leave. We started to get up and were about to walk out when he apologized to us. As we know, everyone is human and can make mistakes. So we smiled and gave the gentleman our order. Based on fellow Yelpers advice I ordered the Arroz Con Mariscos and my wife ordered the Lomo Saltado. They came out around 20 minutes later (which is to be expected because the chef needs time to prepare). I'm a huge clam/oyster lover, the muscles that came with the Arroz Con Marisco were rotten. They smelled like shit, literally. At first i thought, maybe it's me. So i ate around them. The dish was Goya yellow rice and sub par clams, chicken, etc. I love Paella, so i figured the Arroz Con Mariscos was similar. It was not. I was pissed because i was paying around $20 for a meal i could have made better at home with fresher ingredients. I stopped eating. My wife's Lomo Saltado was better. I had a few bites and though i was unhappy with my meal, she had an adequate meal. After she finished, i had her smell the muscles, she was astonished on how bad they smelled. We asked for the bill and the waiter could sense something was wrong. He never asked what was wrong and i suspect he figured it was about his earlier tardiness. I should have said something but I felt "what's done is done." My mistake. A few hours later, I felt my stomach cramp up and that night and the day after i was sick with food poisoning. It's great that so many people have had a wonderful experience at Maura's. Unfortunately for me, i had a nightmare of an experience. read more

Unbelievable gem in the heart of Nyack! As a local passing by this place at least 3-4 times per day for the past year , finally making my way there was a huge excitement. The food did NOT disappoint at all ! To be honest, I was quite surprise that this little homey place could produce such exquisite and exotic meals!! The ceviche sampler was out of this world ! The owner Maura even came by our table to greet us! Very nice and comforting. Highly recommend it and can't wait to go back ! read more

THE FOOD IS FANTASTIC, however the wait staff on a Tuesday night were hard to find, unhelpful, and overcharged us for a beer we never ordered. My wife noticed it on our way home. read more

We took a chance strolling in and found a new favorite spot. For a Saturday lunch they seemed to be backed up and it took a while to take our table order, but Nick the Bartender jumped in. This is an important distinction, since I place customer service at the top of the list, and when the Bartender helps out to take an order at a table I'm impressed. Little did he know my foodie-wife usually has a thousand questions about the menu! My food was excellent, so flavorful and even though my wife identified cumin as the key ingredient in my Arroz Verde, I'm convinced a certain amount of magic was included. I'm laying off the meat (a staple of Peruvian food), so unfortunately I'll miss out on a lot of options, but we will be back. Not fans of licquer in sangria though, we left an adult beverage half-finished which probably never happened before. Cannot fault Maura's Kitchen for that, however. Chatting with another fan of the restaurant later day, i heard that the Peruvian wine was pretty powerful. Next time! read more

Really delicious Peruvian food in the Rockland area. I tried the rice and beans with the Mondongo which they have every tuesday. I will be back to try more. But so far the food is fresh and cooked on the spot. The rice was not dry or overcooked. Tremendous amounts of flavor for about $10 a plate. Empinadas were cooked on the spot. Only $1.50 each. Also had some fresh fried yuka. Was not reheated. The owners are super friendly as well. Next time i m hitting the ceviche!!!! read more

Very good... But very little... This is more like Peruvian fine dining. The portions are smaller. And prices are higher, $15-19 entree and $5-14 appetizer read more

Each time we road trip up to Westchester or Bear Mountain, we always stop by here for lunch. They have this roasted hominy/corn snack they serve that is so crunchy, salty and delicious. The lomo saltado is delish. The fried fish with tomato sauce is also yummy. The sandwiches are perfect. A truly authentic Peruvian place. We are never disappointed! read more

Mauras kitchen along with two very generous donors came all the way to Westchester to make sure the frontline workers at NYPH Westchester Division were fed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Ceviche was excellent, garnished with (imported) peruvian corn. The chunk of sweet potato was a great counterbalance to the spicy lime flavor. Shrimp chowder was also wonderful. Can't wait to go back. read more

Had the Maura's ceviche which is the original and it was very fresh. They have a sampler of three different ceviche but just didn't want to fill up. Menu really didnt have a lot but I really dnt mind because it really showed on how well each dish was made. I had the chaufa with chicken which is a peruvian fried rice; tasted some what Thai but was very good. The other dishes we got were the fish tacos which were decent wouldnt say the best I had. The tilapia the tacos was crispy from the panko bread crumbs but the spicy guac was not even spicy. The other dish we got was the arroz con mariscos which is rice with a whole bunch of seafood and def worth the $22. Could def tell the seafood was fresh from the shrimp to the mussels to the calamari. The bartender and the host were super friendly. The only negative about this place is the parking! Many stores around this area so parking was very hard to find, actually took a good 10 to 15 mins to find parking but let me tell you it's def worth it! read more

What are you waiting for? Get in the car now & go! It may not look like much upon initial approach, but once you see the meticulous way this momma plates her dishes and the pride in her son as he so carefully transports them from the kitchen to your table, you know there's something really special going on inside this place that you may not have been fortunate enough to experience had you judged it by the look. Although it is small this family maintains very clean quarters and if you show up on a Saturday evening (as I did) be prepared to wait for a table or place your order and enjoy it all the same at the bar. The possibilities are endless and the menu immediately makes you excited about your next visit. There are so many great things you know you'll be coming back again. I had the Lomo Saltado, Ceviche Sampler, and Sweet Plantains. Yes, A lot of food, but if I could've eaten every morsel and ordered again, I would have. the flavors will literally transport you to Peru. No watered down american palate pleasing recipes here. Just straight authentic dishes that had to come from 5 generations ago. Oh and don't let me forget to mention the homemade hot sauce!!!!!!!! REALLY SOMETHING SPECIAL! I loved everything about this place down to the inconspicuous appearance. Still a fairly new establishment in Nyack, but my looking glass tells me the'll be purchasing a new building/ expanding very soon. Friendly, accommodating, heart felt people they are, You may forget your in a restaurant. They really treat you like a guest in their home and serve you up huge portions of food like your grandma would cause she wants to make sure you get full. Peruvian food lover or not, this is a place you MUST visit. You'll thank me later. QUE APROVECHE!!!!! read more
