Cervich is little too much vinegar to my taste. Rice is little soggy. Presentation is pretty good. Love the Yuca fries and "big corn". Nice cozy ambience in a little Restraurant . read more

Amazing food. Fresh and delicious. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. We were getting sick of the same old same old and took a chance based upon reviews I read here. I have to say, I am glad we went in. Do not be fooled by the storefront look. The food is well worth walking in and sitting down. My husband got the creamy shrimp and calamari which was filled with fish and very spicy (and not really creamy, as he hates cream and wouldn't have gotten it if it was). I got the special the Peruvian version of osso buco - pork that was savory and falling off the bone, with sweet mashed potato, sugared walnuts and a chocolate style sauce on the side. Their sweet plantains were good and the fried even better because of their amazing lime flavored dipping sauce. I love this place and plan on going back soon. I miss good Peruvian food and it is nice to find a new place in the county that isn't another pizza joint or the local standard Italian/American/irish fare.... read more

Maura's Kitchen - Osso busco Peruvian style at Maura's Kitchen, Nyack, NY - Peruvian Near Me - Nyack, New York

Have enjoyed Maura's since they opened at their 1st location up the hill. I am so pleased that they have done so well that they have expanded and moved downtown. Everything is always fresh and tasty, prepared in the "Peruvian way" as the family patriarch used to say with pride. Honestly never had a bad meal, I've had some dishes that were more to my taste then other but everything has always been well prepared and flavorful. New space is bright and clean, staff is helpful and food comes quickly. read more

If the owners would hire more staff this place would actually be worth returning to but since they have one poor employee trying to do everything we shall not be back. It was painful to sit there waiting for service and freezing because they were too cheap to have the heat on and it took about 4 requests for the heat to finally get turned on. The food is actually very good, the cerviche sampler was excellent and the other dishes were pretty good BUT the terrible service and cold temperatures were enough to convince me that this place is just not worth it. read more

I really like this place. But it seems the more I go there the prices are increasing and the food is becoming less and less. I remember the Lomo saltado was 12 dollars when first opening not to long ago but now is 16$ which is a huge price difference . However this is a great mom and pop shop and the food is tasty. The chicken is to die for. read more

The service here was not very good. The waitress was slow and never came to ask how the meal was etc. The guac was terrible and the main course did not have a lot of flavor. My drink never came because they were very slow and they brought me my drink after my dinner was eaten. The place also looks very poorly decorated and empty. read more

Found this place driving on my way home food was good had flavorful but overpriced $19.00 for lomo saltado

Ok I hate to complain on these type of sites, it's unfortunate that most people do And that's a shame. It's hard enough to survive as a business especially a restaurant. I should know I am in the food service business for over 30 years, no joke. So we drove through Nyack at prime time 7ish, I'm no dummy I know places are peaking. We passed Maura's and I was just talking about it's older spot. We got a spot right in front couldn't believe it, Nyack on a Saturday and we are in front. Walked in the very nice hostess greeted us and said we are all booked and have no room left sorry. And escorted us out. NOW STOP! How in the world do you send someone away? We could have bellied up to the bar, sat at the open table at the bar next to us or stood in the middle of the bar area just to have a cocktail. I'm not saying bend over backwards but you must be doing absolutely incredible numbers financially to turn someone away without even a drink. We could have easily drank two bourbons each standing there running a sweet bar tab of $48 to $60 with zero labor. I'm not angry BTW I am disappointed. I'm sure the table was booked that was empty and there were no chairs at the bar open. But it's a bar we could have had a drink? We wound up at another place I won't name with the identical set up and we stood at the bar and had cocktails until a bar seat opened up and we sat and ate. When we arrived at the other place they said I am sorry we are completely booked with reservations but if you like you can go to the bar and if something opens up we will seat you! Great! The bar was 3 deep and they were taking in beautiful money hand over fist. The thing is I can't for life if me understand why we were turned away there was standing room at the bar and that would have been fine and you would have gained a customer but I guess you have enough customers. Again I hate the negative review but this was warranted read more

Nothing better than rice and beans with chicken stew on a rainy fall day. Stew had a nice flavor from cilantro and a corn-based Peruvian wine. Decor is clean and nice for a corner bodega turned restaurant. read more

The food was AMAZING! I had Ceviche Maura's and I can honestly say that it was some of the best ceviche I have ever has...and being Mexican I have had my share of ceviches. My husband had the Lomo Saltado and thoroughly enjoyed it. To end dinner on a super amazing note, we had the Lucuma Ice Cream for dessert. I was honestly surprised at how authentic and fresh this food was. I have driven by this restaurant several times and never realized what I was missing. We will definitely be going back! read more

This is an extraordinarily great restaurant in a very ordinary package. Ignore the strip mall facade and the gritty location on the outskirts of Nyack. Everything we've tried here is so perfectly prepared, fresh and incredibly flavorful. Our party of five shared the Jalea, a large seafood platter of lightly battered and fried calamari, fish and shrimp, with yucca fries and their red onion zarza, a zesty citrus-infused fresh accompaniment. Fabulous! We also shared the special, a slow-roasted pork shoulder with rice and beans, and the arroz con mariscos. Calling this home cooking only applies if your home cook happens to be a first-rate chef with an exceptional attention to presentation and the subtleties of texture and taste. Our server once again was attentive, the music is a great mix of South American -- some tango, salsa, Peruvian folk. It doesn't get better than this. read more

Great ceviche. Lomo saltado was good but way underseasoned, especially the actual meat which had no seasoning at all - a little lazy. Season every layer!!!! Good authentic Peruvian cocktails- pisco porton sour was great - not too sweet. read more

A lovely little spot on a cold rainy night to spend with friends. The cerviche sampler was fabulous. I enjoyed the fish tacos, though I wish the fish was grilled and not fried. Yucca fries yummy. Friend's chicken a little dry but nice flavor. We will return. read more

I was with another couple. The food was very good. Service slow. A few weeks after our visit we both had fraudulent credit card charges on the cards we used that night. It was the only time we ever went anywhere together so I am positive that someone there is responsible for the theft. I called the owner. He was very upset and concerned. Nice man. He is looking into the problem. I hope he gets to the bottom of it. He has a nice business with a delicious product. read more

This new iteration of one of my favorite local restaurants. Fantastic unusual menu, attentive staff, nice new venue. I would have given it 5 stars if if weren't so bloody loud. read more

Great food. Great service. Modern atmosphere. Plus Dan the bartender makes a great drink.

Wonderful from the moment we entered. Great ambiance makes you feel welcome. Wait staff was fun, informative, and attentive. And the FOOD! The best I've had in a long time. My companion was a restaurant owner who was similarly impressed. You must try the scallop mango ceviche and the interesting assortment of homemade libations. read more

A few friends and I went here about a month ago. We were extremely unsatisfied with the food. It was bland and completely lacked flavor. The only reason I gave it two stars is because the staff was very kind and attentive, and the music was hip and relevant (though I expected Spanish music). Unfortunately, the tasteless food really ruined our experience. It may have just been an off day and I do plan to try going back there at some point because I love Peruvian food. read more

Such an amazing experience can't wait to return! Food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I ordered about five different tapas, everyone tasted better then the last. You have to try the clam bake , Camarones a la piedra and the salmon causa (I think that's how you spell it). So happy to have more food options in Rockland!! Can't wait to return! read more

Went for a late lunch before exploring the Edward Hopper House and neighborhood, and found Maura's very disappointing. The current 4.5 star rating led me to expect a balance of great flavors, good value and service. Maura's was lacking in all three areas. This is a simple, unpretentious restaurant supposedly featuring home cooking. The $19 lomo saltado and $10 pisco sour make for a surprisingly expensive, and not particularly special weekday lunch. Most inadequate was the service: even though he only had two tables, the young server completely forgot the simple drink order he took when I sat down. I actually had to remind him about it. Then a couple of the server's buddies came in the restaurant to loudly chat him up, drop off items and repeatedly shake hands in the middle of the dining room, distracting the only waiter for a good few minutes. I was looking for a hidden gem in a small town but Maura's left a sour taste in my mouth. Skip it. read more

This place is clear is clearly an extension of what is presumably "Maura's" home kitchen. The food feels down home, and by that, delicious! Nothing especially creative, but comforting, fresh and delicious! This place is certainly worth the visit, while my visit did not leave me dying to get back there. Ambiance is virtually non-existent, as the store front feels like a bodega, yet one devoid of much character. Worthy, but not exceptional. read more

Amazing, outstanding Peruvian food. No frills atmosphere, but still solid on presentation, service, cocktails (great Pisco Sours) and vibe. Should be a line to get in every night. read more

Peruvian yumminess. Food was great and the attention from the waiter and owners really made for a nice experience. But even though they have a bar there was no bartender, seemed like the waiter was both. My only issue is the food menu didn't have many choices as well as no cocktail menu. I enjoy having options or specials. read more

What a gem! We found it through yelp while passing by. Absolutely perfect! Tilapia shrimp ceviche was amazing! Fresh and tangy! Pork shoulder to die for with yellow rice and beans , and perfectly garlic- salted yuca fries . We couldn't believe our luck finding this meal just by a chance. For dessert, we had to try both the home made flan and lucuma ice cream.wow. Just wow!!! read more

Ceviches! Don't order anything fried, the seafood (sans fryer) is where it's at. Took my hard-to-please mother here and she loved the food. Portions are generous. The restaurant is small but it only adds to the feeling that Maura is taking care of you. read more

I've been here several times and have never been disappointed. Firstly, get the banana beer if you love bananas like myself. If banana bread were made into a beer it would be this. I don't even have to instruct you on what to get because it's all awesome. im hungry now. read more

We were looking for something to eat and decided to take a chance on something new! We went for a Saturday lunch and it was pretty much empty so we didn't have to wait and we were able to pick our table. The server was kind and efficient. The drinks were pretty good, but the real star was the tapas. We loved the chicken bites and the empanadas, they were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend getting all three varieties of the empanadas as each flavor was very good! After that, lunch took a turn for the worse. The entrees were just ok. The presentation lacked finesse and the flavors just weren't as good as they were for the tapas. I had the Pescado a lo Macho and it was just ok....The dessert options also leave a lot to be desired. Dessert Options (They ran out of everything else): Quinoa Pudding or Flan......Exactly....Needless to say, it's definitely worthy to stop by and check out. read more

My wife & I and our 4 kids and can you believe it they are all daughters and let me tell you living with five women is no joke and they are a hard crowd to please. My kids are "mavens" and not shy about giving their reviews on anything. So here are their reviews: Empanadas - "outstanding" Chicken - "tasty" Beans - "oh my...." Chicken bites- "delightful" And the Mrs.. Fish tacos- "to die for..." All the females were happy and that is a rare feat. BTW- I loved it too. Nice staff. We will be back! read more

Driving by and walking in can be deceiving, took my Peruvian friend there for her birthday and they were very pleased with the food, I also liked the food a lot, everything we got was good, the device sampler was my favorite and the red sangria was amazing. The only thing I would have liked to see was a few more choices for dessert, they only serve flan, very good flan but that's all! Service was very good and the owner is very sweet. read more

I enjoyed the food. I enjoyed the drinks. I enjoyed the vibe. Limited menu for entrees so take a look. The steak strips was the best of the three meals we had. Paella was good but not iron bound Newark good. Ceviche was awesome. Overall a very positive experience and our server was great. Go here. read more

this place used to be good but today they made the worst saltados i've ever had, absolutely no flavor and full of liquid. no seasoning, no green sauce on the side. and the steak we ordered medium rare came out well done and flavorless. i don't know if they got a new cook or what but this place used to be way better. read more

In a way I hate to rate this place, it's gonna be big one day and I'll never get a table! Forget you read this. Is that enough? Yeah, everyone else is saying the right stuff. We had the best food, including the fried corn (really), fried yucca as a treat. They actually know how to do frying correctly. It's an art, so is the rest of the food. Don't ever go there, I'm beggin' ya. I would add that the restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday. This may not be reflected on their web site. read more

Searched Yelp for fried yuca and found this amazing place in nearby Nyack. Fish tacos were outstanding and tapa with shrimp placed on mashed yuca was over the top. Oh and the fried yuca was the best we've ever had. We will be back to try everything on the menu. Highly recommend this place, you won't be disappointed. read more

The food is absolutely amazing. The spices and favors are on point. I'm Peruvian and I can tell you this is the best of the best. The restaurant has a really warm feel. The bar looks amazing and you always feel comfortable to sit and just have a drink. Overall, this is a great place to come to. read more

Visiting the Nyack area from Ky and found this gem. First time having Peruvian food and it was simply fantastic. The food was great, the service was friendly, Maura herself even came out and chatted with me. Extremely enjoyable food and atmosphere, I am jealous of the locals who get to enjoy Maura's place whenever they want. If you are still reading this, what the heck are you waiting for? Go get some of Maura's Peruvian home cooking! read more

I was not impresssed at all. I was looking forward to a well prepared Peruvian meal. Unfortunately, we had some poor versions of some classic Peruvian dishes. We ordered the Lomo Saltado and the Chaufa de pollo. The Lomo was not prepared well and was served with the fries and meat separated. The Lomo is supposed to have them mixed together. The Chaufa had a sweet taste. You could not really taste the soy sauce. Lastly, the Aji Verde was not good. I don't think that it deserves the recent good reviews that I read on some publication. I wanted to root for them, but cannot. read more

Saw on local news and was shocked by what is inside those doors can't wait to eat there!

Kind of disappointed. Heard great things so we decided to try for dinner. Food was good but two Tapas plates we ordered were mashed potato based. Shrimp on a lump of mashed potatoes, and something called a salmon roll which was a barely visible piece of thin salmon, similar to lox, on a lump of mashed potatoes. What's with all the mashed potatoes? Is it a Peruvian thing? We ordered a salad which included avocado in its name, but there was barely any avocado in the dish. Drinks were good and strong. May give them another shot but at close to $100 with tax and tip, and one drink each, not sure if it's a good value for my $. read more

Outstanding Peruvian restaurant. The service is great and the menu is full of delicious dishes. Can't wait to return!
