Mattito's, and particularly this location, is that perfect neighborhood Tex-Mex spot that fits the bill every time. I have whiled away many happy hours here with margaritas and friends, and their patio makes for a perfect post-work hangout. This time we visited after a long drive into town, in need of a meal. Arriving a bit late, the staff was friendly and accommodating and didn't seem bothered at all. After settling into one of their comfy, Texas-sized booths, we settled on dinner- breakfast tacos for her, from their godsend all-day breakfast menu, and a chile relleno with cascabel for me. We accented this with their delicious queso and, of course, a big blue frozen rumbarita, one of my favorite drinks in town. Sweet and strong, it really hit the spot. A nice family spot for solid food and fun drinks, Mattito's is a north Dallas classic. read more

Mattito's is a local chain and usually I try to avoid chains and focus on independent places. However, there are very few restaurants in the area where I work, and Mattito's happens to be near my office. I would say the food is solid (good) but not exceptional. I went during lunch and ordered off the lunch menu which was reasonably priced. We had good service and were seated right away. The parking is ample. Overall, it was a good experience, and I would return. I give it 3 stars because it is good, but there is not anything exceptional, so set your expectations and enjoy it for what it is. read more

From beginning to end the entire Mattito's staff took care of us. We came here after my Aunts funeral, it was her favorite place to eat out. We walked in and they sat us quickly and were kind enough to let us order off the lunch menu even though we arrived 10 minutes before it ended. Roberto went above and beyond! Consistently delicious! The beef fajitas were sizzling hot and oh so tender. The complimentary tostadas chips are tasty, not too salty, and the salsa our favorite. The food is good, but spending $19 on nachos is not. What's worse is that if you order a side when the orders placed (pico in this case that requires a simple scoop) it's $1. If you get your to-go order and ask if you can get another one of the exact same pico- it's $1.80. An 80% increase. The manager said it's because you receive more as I pulled out two ramekins of the exact same containers of pico. Really disappointing, but I guess it's just another place that will take advantage of you. Man next to me that ordered onlines order was missing his coveted sides too. Won't ask you if you need a water or anything with the drink you're only allowed two of as well. Putting three stars because I've enjoyed their patio, but now I can't help but wonder what other upcharges they've snuck in. Just something to look out for. read more

Excellent Mexican restaurant - my main issue is that I might have over-ordered, hence I had to take some back in boxes. Their tamales are quite good, and their chips and salsa are also appetizing. I also got the fish tacos and the shrimp fajitas - both which were good - however there were a lot of fix-ins (e.g., cheese, guac, rice & beans) to incorporate, which makes me think those dishes may be better for groups or more than one person. My only minor gripe is that they don't have horchata or any of the authentic Mexican drinks you would expect from a more divey or authentic place. Overall recommended however! read more

It was a tough day, but I needed to take my sons and their families to a late lunch after a family member's funeral. So the nine of us picked this place after the restaurant next door didn't really want to handle a large party. I was not in a overly wonderful mood and appreciated Mattito's open arms. We were a third of their crowd and they put us in somewhat of a room to ourselves. The staff treated us like royalty. Maybe me and my sons in suits made them think we were special. There were two looking after us with our wide variety of complicated drinks from cocktails to local brews to hot tea to soft drinks. Our food selections were no less easy as all but 2 had to modify something. I was feeling sorry for the staff, but they smiled and wrote it down happily. In no time, out came our orders exactly as all requested. I had beef enchiladas and they were, really, really good. Flavorful tortillas, spiced and fresh tasting beef, tender and plump Spanish rice and light and airy re-fried beans. The service with a smile continued with drink change requests and additional items. As we were leaving I noticed how clean the staff kept this cheerful restaurant. Between it's brightness and the staff's sweet care, all of us were feeling much better. The staff were angels and much appreciated! read more

I got lunch chicken fajitas which were done well and a generous lunch portions The chips were crispy and the salsa was savory and spicy. My main disappointment was after my meal I used the men's room and there was a noticeable sewer gas smell even though the bathroom was clean and well appointed. Meet the Business Owner: Jim L.

Jim Lannom is Vice President and Director of Operations of Mattito's Tex-Mex a privately held owner and operator of Tex-Mex restaurants. Mattito's currently operates 3 Tex-Mex restaurants in the Dallas, Texas metropolitan area. Jim joined Mattito's in 1998 and is a partner in the business. He is responsible for management direction, hiring, training, day to day operations, menu development and vendor relations. Jim began his career in the restaurant industry in 1976 as a 14 year old bus boy with the El Chico corporation and is now a 45 year veteran, having been continuously employed in the food service industry ever since. He has previously served in numerous management positions for Lincoln Property Restaurant group in three states. Jim is a native of Dallas and resides in Mckinney, Texas with his son, Reed. Jim also has a totally awesome and beautiful girlfriend named Karey.

My wife got the frozen with sangria (strawberry) and it was delicious. My Ocho (version of skinny) was also top-notch. For food, we decided to try both the fajitas and the enchiladas. We were not disappointed. The fajitas were a combo of beef and shrimp, and both were very tender. They come with the typical sides. The enchiladas were some of the best I have had in a long time. Clearly hand rolled, stuffed, flavorful, and delicious. I also got a side puffy taco, and it was awesome. We really enjoyed our dinner at Uno Mas. We will be back.

The service could also be more attentive, since we ran out of water for a bit. Not a bad choice if you're in the area, but maybe do some research beforehand on what people recommend.

That visit checked every box -- the food, service, ambiance, and overall hospitality were all exceptional. What really stood out to me then was the attention to detail. I had casually mentioned that one of my cocktails wasn't quite my taste, and Harry personally reached out afterward to say they'd gladly adjust it next time. That kind of thoughtful follow-up leaves a lasting impression and is exactly the sort of hospitality that elevates a restaurant experience. Unfortunately, this recent visit felt like a completely different restaurant. We decided to do a combination of à la carte dishes along with the Experience menu after being told this version would feature entirely off-menu items, which genuinely intrigued us since Ihad also done the Experience previously. At the start of dinner, we were asked about allergies and dietary restrictions. I clearly explained that I have a mango allergy and do not eat beef. Our server then asked whether I ate other meats, and I clarified yes -- and even specifically mentioned that if the machete dish was beef, please still include it because my friend could enjoy it and I really wanted her to try it. He confirmed it would be the sirloin version, so we happily agreed not to modify that course. So imagine our surprise when one of the first dishes arrived dressed with a mango vinaigrette. Thankfully, we barely caught him quietly mentioning "mango" as he set it down. We immediately looked at each other thinking, "Didn't we just discuss the allergy?" It was disappointing, but unfortunately also representative of the overall service throughout the evening. Our server seemed disengaged, inattentive, and often not fully listening. Empty glasses sat untouched, opportunities to order additional items were missed, and at one point we were simply handed the check without even being asked if we wanted anything else. We also ordered a bottle of sparkling wine and ended up pouring it ourselves for most of the evening because our glasses were rarely refilled. I completely understand not leaving the bottle tableside if walkway space is limited, but repeatedly needing to get up ourselves to retrieve it felt out of sync with the level of service one expects from a Michelin-recommended restaurant -- especially at this price point. Then came the machete dish. Instead of the sirloin version we specifically discussed, we received the vegetarian potato version. When the server asked how it looked, I politely explained that we were disappointed because he had specifically told us it would be the sirloin preparation. At minimum, I would have expected another protein substitution given the earlier conversation about what I could eat. I'm also still unclear whether the Experience menu was truly "off-menu" as described, since several dishes -- including the halibut -- appeared familiar. Had that been communicated differently, we likely would have skipped the Experience altogether and simply curated our own meal. At the end of the night, spending over $500 while pouring our own wine, nearly being served an allergen we explicitly disclosed, and receiving dishes different from what was promised made for a deeply disappointing experience -- especially after such a phenomenal first visit. It honestly felt sad more than anything because I know how wonderful this restaurant can be. I'm not sure what changed in the last five months, but the difference was significant.
