I am a white wine connoisseur because of my dietary restrictions with most ingredients in red wines, especially cherries and plum, that trigger my stomach pain and headaches. I have missed enjoying red wine because of this. I was hoping and praying that when my friends who are members of PEJU planned this wine tasting treat, that my stomach and head would be fine and to my surprise, my palate, tongue, stomach and heart were pleased with the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Fifty/Fifty, and more, including reserve reds Todd served and educated us about! I have NEVER enjoyed red wines like these I tasted at PEJU. Since the time of our outstanding wine tasting experience, I have recommended and raved about Todd and PEJU winery to friends and family who appreciate and value high quality wines and winery experiences. It felt like a vacation getaway being in the tasting room building, admiring the breathtaking stained glass art, all of the art inside and the beautiful art and nature views outside. I appreciate the PEJU staff and management team who welcomed us and were kind to us all the way to the end of our wine tasting experience when we left. This is the kind of treatment that makes us want to return. Napa is a special place for friends, family, and me, and PEJU is now an indelible memory in my Napa adventures! Todd clearly enjoys his important professional position, is passionate about wine and the wine experience, and brings so much joy to customers! I can't recommend him and PEJU enough! Todd went above and beyond to give us a VIP experience and even gave me a bag full of wine corks for my art project after I told him about this and asked for some of their wine corks we saw lined up in their wine uncorking and pouring area. The grounds are gorgeous inside and out, and I really enjoyed the stained glass, large open windows, and the statues and the koi pond area outside. The service was extraordinary, and I had a great time learning a bit about the different wines PEJU offers from Joseph. I tried quite a few different wines, and really liked how there are a few unique offerings here that you can't find elsewhere - I ended up getting a bottle of their Province, the Farm, and their late harvest orange muscat. PEJU is also one of the few wineries with a permit to serve food. If I had known ahead of time, I would've planned to eat here! The rilettes were super tempting, but Joseph advised that if I was planning to eat a meal afterward to stick to the chips and dip - this ended up being quite a generous portion as well, and I really enjoyed the goat cheese truffle dip alongside the wine tasting :) Overall, PEJU is definitely a beautiful winery to visit with excellent service, and I'll definitely be back!

Our friends live in Clear Lake while we live in Vallejo, so this is a central place to meet. Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant! From the beginning, there seemed to be constant miscommunication between staff. We specifically booked an outdoor reservation and were seated inside instead. While mistakes happen, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. The bigger issue involved the wine and corkage fee. We purchased a bottle directly from the market associated with the restaurant and were told by the employee there that the corkage fee would be waived if we bought their wine. When we sat down, our server Sara told us that was not true and that we would still have to pay the fee. I explained what we had been told, and when she asked if I wanted a manager involved, I said yes. Before the manager even arrived or clarified the situation, the server opened our bottle of wine. In the silence and confusion, I reasonably assumed the fee issue had been resolved. Then the manager came over and told us we would still be charged and implied that nobody at the market would have told us otherwise. The way it was handled made my husband and I feel like we were being accused of making the whole thing up, which was especially upsetting on Mother's Day. At that point, the bottle was already opened, so we were essentially stuck paying the fee regardless. Between being seated incorrectly, the poor communication between employees, and how dismissive the situation felt, the service completely overshadowed what should have been a special meal. The rest of the service we felt ignored and there was minimal effort to accommodate. Great food alone is not enough to justify returning when the hospitality experience feels this frustrating and unprofessional.

Parking can be a little tight on a busy day due to the small lot, but there are some EV charging stations. They do make four whites, one Sauvignon Blanc, and three different Chardonnay's. We started with their whites before moving on to the Napa Merlot, and Malbec and then on to their Cabernets. If you really want to enjoy the Cabernet experience, for $175 you can sit in the Cambium room where you will get a food pairing along with the wine. Each shaded nook invites you to pause, unwind, and take in the surrounding greenery before stepping inside. Our group of six adults and one very content 10-month-old (we called ahead to be sure he was welcome)--settled in effortlessly and were rewarded with an experience that felt both relaxed and refined. We chose the veranda, where the view opened onto a lush garden alive with movement. Between sips, we caught glimpses of hummingbirds darting like jewels, butterflies drifting lazily, and even the occasional chipmunk making a curious appearance. Our hostess guided us through the $50 tasting with warmth and expertise, bringing each of the five wines to life with just the right balance of knowledge and ease. Every pour impressed--distinct, expressive, and genuinely enjoyable. And the thoughtful touch of applying the tasting fee toward bottle purchases? That sealed the deal. Each couple left with at least two bottles in hand--a testament to both the quality of the wine and the smart, guest-friendly approach. Inside, a wall of glass reveals rows upon rows of barrels stretching into the distance, a quiet reminder of the craftsmanship behind every glass. The grounds are scenic - it's tucked away in a nice, shady plot of land surrounded by vineyards. And I appreciate their commitment to sustainability. The wines are truly exquisite--bold, unique, and always something we look forward to sharing together. Every visit feels elevated, and a big part of that is the incredible staff. Natalia, our hostess and educator, is absolutely amazing. She brings great energy, deep knowledge, and makes each tasting feel personal and memorable. The only downside from our most recent visit was learning that the complimentary cheese plate is no longer automatically offered to members of certain tiers. That was a small touch that really set The Prisoner apart from other wineries and made the experience feel even more special. It was something we genuinely looked forward to every time. We still love everything about The Prisoner and will continue to visit and support, but we do hope they reconsider bringing that perk back--it made a great experience even better.

First things first, we jump on an ATV and head out to the vineyard. Our girl Madeleine takes us all around. This is a family affair folks. Dad is the wine maker. We will meet him later. We learn all the facts. They are the only cidery in Napa. We call this versatile. If you don't like wine, problem solved. They'll give you cider. I was sold quick quick because I bought three bottles. We also learned that this family makes balsamic vinegar. Not the type you buy in the store. This is the 25 year commitment stuff. Their vinegar is older than some marriages. Let that sink in. They're only in year three so this vinegar is not available to me and you yet. Stay tuned. Finally, we hang out on the patio, tasting wine we all buy. The wine maker himself (Dad) comes out. We gossiped and shot the shit. What a fantastic spot. They are killing it.

We were then greeted with a staff member, who showed us some history of the Cakebread family and property, and then we made our way to the eating/tasting area. It was just me and my friend and the one staff member. We were informed about the various foods coming out and each of the wines that paired with them. The food was lovely and paired so well with each of the wines. Their white wines were fantastic. The food was good as well~ lots of different flavors. THey're smaller bites, so don't expect to get incredibly full to bursting or anything. LOL! After finishing our food and wine, we went to the little kitchen area, chatted with the staff there, and then went on a tour of the winery, the barrels, garden etc.. We then went to the gift shop to purchase some wines to take home. Overall, a lovely experience. :) Parking is plentiful~! We arrived at the winery and were able to find a charging station for our EV. (We had our own attachment for a Tesla charger.) From beginning to finish (approximately 90+ minutes), it charged about 15%. LOL!

Chris was our host. He did a great job of telling new details of the historical story of BV... although I wanted to discuss the wine more than hear the history. Chris was informative, passionate, and knowledgeable. I would ask for him as a host again! However, he a attend your wine Club member. I really don't want to hear the story one more time! This is a beautiful winery and their new tasting room will open soon... I'm very excited to see how it is. I suggest if you make an appointment for tasting here that you make it earlier than 3:30 since the wine Club manager pretty much came in and told us it was time to go because they were closing at 5. We did not have any additional tastings other than what was on the menu and we did not try to take up any extra time, but we were picking up our wine shipment, which was being put together and not altered ... again, not taking up any more than the scheduled . After having been a member of multiple wineries in Napa, this was the first time I've ever experienced someone rushing us out... which did not leave a good taste in our mouth figuratively, not literally,because the wine was awesome as usual!!

I do not understand why it says closes at 5 but the last tasting is 3:30p and after that is only bottle purchase. We've called each time to make a reservation and have had to leave a message, only to not get a call back until the end of the day. Sadly, we will be cancelling our membership, as the inability to use our benefits has been much harder than any other wine membership we have.
