Stumbled upon this winery on my priority wine pass, and our group had an amazing experience! There was a glitch on our online reservation, but Austin stepped in to assist us. We opted to do our tasting in the back of the barn surrounded by giant redwoods. The wines are exceptional, and Austin did a superb job with his recommendations. Axr does not feel commercialized like the other bigger wineries, and we didn't feel rushed or pressured to buy anything. We were allowed to revisit wines before making our final purchases.

A few friends had told me about AXR and their great wines and I finally made a reservation. What a wonderful setting! My tasting was in the back patio by the redwoods, so gorgeous you kind of forget you are in the valley. Jeff was an awesome host and walked me through the history, the wines and winemaking process. Generous pours and was able to taste a couple wines I was interested in. The potato chips were soo good! A few favorites - Their Cab Franc is outstanding as well as their V Madrone Cab and Fab4. I would definitely come back!

Our first time visiting and I will agree with other reviews I read, this place is a hidden gem. The winery is very beautiful and has amazing wine! We did the $150 pairing which showed off some great wines. Would recommend visiting and spending some time walking around and taking in the views.

What an incredible winery! Our wine educator Sam was so knowledgeable and kind. The property is so beautiful, we had the best time. The wines are incredible, we feel so lucky to be able to come here.

We had the most amazing wine tasting experience with Olivia today at AXR. She was knowledgeable, personanable, and friendly. The house and the barn are both beautiful places to taste. Thanks Olivia!

Wonderful wines with beautiful settings ... with amazing service knowledge sommelier who truly love their craft. Jean Hoefliger is a Winemaker is one I followed to AXR because of his absolute dedication and passion to making amazing wines. Love the exciting new direction he has brought with AXR. Even when Napa was ravaged by the fires, AXR provides us out of skipping a year by bringing in wines from other regions (petaluma) even using Jean's origins from Switzerland. The Doral and Pinot Noir were great! Loved the Fab4 , Rose, and their elite flagship AXR1. Another unique is a yummy pairing with kettle chips and finely Shaved cheese , so good!

Amazing winery. The cozy feel and friendly vibes are totally worth it. My favorite stop of the trip. Obviously brought home some of their delicious wine, highly recommended the Fab 4.

Hidden gem. We went to great wineries but had literal eye-opening experiences for all of the selections. JJ was a great host and really had passion for wine which helped us talk about the wine for hours and just have a conversation with an old friend. I have never bought wine after a tasting but we bought 6 bottles. This place is the hidden gem of hidden gems.

What a cute winery! Be sure to bring picnic food and make use of their picnic grounds behind the winery. They were very kind, accommodating and understanding about us arriving 15 minutes late. We still got through the whole tour and tasting and our wine educator even had time to offer us a pour of one of the reserve single vineyard wines outside of the standard tasting. I really enjoyed the Sauvignon blanc and one of the cabs so bought a few bottles of those (didn't love the Pinot though my friend did so to each their own). It was a very short tour just to see the redwood trees they had outside, during which we sipped on some delicious rose, which I also purchased, and then we went straight inside to a large round table just the 4 of us for the tasting. We were given water bottles and chips with cheese, which were delightful. I also found the wines much more reasonably priced than the larger, more commercialized places. Our host was very energetic, funny and talkative - he really made the experience. Over all, this was a super fun stop - really enjoyed the wines and appreciated the reasonable prices!

Came here in October and reserved the AXR single vineyard tasting for our group of friends. The grounds are so beautiful, homey country, and quaint. We had a welcoming pour of sav Blanc. They gave us a tour of the tasting room and the patio which was beautiful. They showed us the fairy circle of red woods and they took so many amazing pictures of us! We had our tasting in the main house which was again so beautiful, a country modern delight. All the wines were distinct and delicious. They were so knowledge and kind when explaining the wines and even offered some extra pours for us to try. We had our service dog Scooby with our friend group and they were so accommodating and even let us meet the vineyard dog who is a big and fluffy guy. I definitely would recommend AXR, even if it's the only place you decide to go. We discovered AXR after finding their red blend at the AJs fine foods grocer in Arizona and we had to visit. It was well worth the trip and bought a few cases to take home amongst our group. A must go to.

While working in St. Helena, I could never find an opening in a reservation, so here was a great opportunity now that all of us are retired. Our friends live in Clear Lake while we live in Vallejo, so this is a central place to meet. It was the best decision I made because every year for the past several anniversaries, we've gone to Cache Creek to C2. Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! Secondly, we were very impressed with how the food/wine was locally sourced. It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant! It's well worth the wait! If you have not experienced a meal there, you must definitely go now!

From the beginning, there seemed to be constant miscommunication between staff. We specifically booked an outdoor reservation and were seated inside instead. While mistakes happen, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. The bigger issue involved the wine and corkage fee. We purchased a bottle directly from the market associated with the restaurant and were told by the employee there that the corkage fee would be waived if we bought their wine. When we sat down, our server Sara told us that was not true and that we would still have to pay the fee. I explained what we had been told, and when she asked if I wanted a manager involved, I said yes. Before the manager even arrived or clarified the situation, the server opened our bottle of wine. In the silence and confusion, I reasonably assumed the fee issue had been resolved. Then the manager came over and told us we would still be charged and implied that nobody at the market would have told us otherwise. The way it was handled made my husband and I feel like we were being accused of making the whole thing up, which was especially upsetting on Mother's Day. At that point, the bottle was already opened, so we were essentially stuck paying the fee regardless. Between being seated incorrectly, the poor communication between employees, and how dismissive the situation felt, the service completely overshadowed what should have been a special meal. The rest of the service we felt ignored and there was minimal effort to accommodate. Great food alone is not enough to justify returning when the hospitality experience feels this frustrating and unprofessional.

I came across the Legacy Cave Tour, which is adults-only and offers a lower fee for non-drinkers, which I thought was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the online booking didn't work for me, so I had to call to make the reservation. When we checked in, the woman at the front desk gave me a bit of a weird vibe. After looking up our reservation, she said, "Oh, indeed you do have a reservation." It just felt like an odd response, like... why wouldn't we? is it because we're brown? We arrived a little early, so we spent some time browsing the gift shop upstairs. That's where we met our guide, Will, who was lovely, friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. I mentioned it was my husband's birthday, and he asked if we'd been given a birthday sticker. Apparently they offer special occasion stickers at the front, which the check-in woman never mentioned, but Will made sure we got one, which was a nice touch. The tour itself was a small group, which I really liked. We went into the cave, and for those drinking, the tour included 3 wines. It was interesting learning about the history of Beringer Vineyards, and again, Will did a great job explaining everything. One thing I do wish they offered: for non-drinkers, it would be nice to have something like grape juice or a non-alcoholic option during the tour. There were a few of us in that situation, and it felt a little odd not having anything to sip on. After the tour, we walked the grounds, which was really nice. It's free to explore the property and browse the gift shop, which makes it a pleasant stop even beyond the tour itself. We ended up buying a couple bottles to take home, along with a wine barrel mug that my husband liked.

My friends and I were limited in our wine knowledge and he admitted that he felt like all wine tastes the same. However, once we took our very first sip, the fruity, buttery notes completely changed our minds. She sets the image about drinking this near a pool and I immediately would get transported to her explanations. It was giving "Remy" from "Ratatouille" moment when you close your eyes and see/feel all the different imagery. Throughout the tour, we are educated on the fact that they have two different addresses because they are at the border of both Sonoma County and Napa! Literally best of both worlds! Afterwards, we tried multiple different wines in their caves and educated on the different notes, how to hold our wine glasses, and the importance of everything. Before this experience, I was completely unaware of what to look for, but now I feel like I have a better understanding of everything. I am a white wine connoisseur because of my dietary restrictions with most ingredients in red wines, especially cherries and plum, that trigger my stomach pain and headaches. I have missed enjoying red wine because of this. I was hoping and praying that when my friends who are members of PEJU planned this wine tasting treat, that my stomach and head would be fine and to my surprise, my palate, tongue, stomach and heart were pleased with the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Fifty/Fifty, and more, including reserve reds Todd served and educated us about! I have NEVER enjoyed red wines like these I tasted at PEJU. Since the time of our outstanding wine tasting experience, I have recommended and raved about Todd and PEJU winery to friends and family who appreciate and value high quality wines and winery experiences. It felt like a vacation getaway being in the tasting room building, admiring the breathtaking stained glass art, all of the art inside and the beautiful art and nature views outside. I appreciate the PEJU staff and management team who welcomed us and were kind to us all the way to the end of our wine tasting experience when we left. This is the kind of treatment that makes us want to return. Napa is a special place for friends, family, and me, and PEJU is now an indelible memory in my Napa adventures! Todd clearly enjoys his important professional position, is passionate about wine and the wine experience, and brings so much joy to customers! I can't recommend him and PEJU enough! PEJU is also one of the few wineries with a permit to serve food. If I had known ahead of time, I would've planned to eat here!
