This is a vineyard we only came across as we were meeting friends at another vineyard, and had some time to kill. We arrived here around noon on a Sunday, and it was perfect timing as there was still plenty of parking! They had a huge market where they sold bottle of wine, meat and cheese. Just a ton of options! There is a large lawn in the front with picnic benches. So if you have kids, this is a great option for them to be able to run around! There is also a gelato truck and food truck. We ended up getting gelato and I ordered ceviche from the food truck. The ceviche was so fresh and definitely something I would order again! Overall this is a great pit spot vineyard as you come in or heading out of Napa. read more

The property is sprawling and looks almost like a Victorian castle from a movie, lined with well manicured landscaping and foliage. Beautiful views when walking around! There are seats peppered throughout the area, including a bocce ball court where groups can hang out or wine and dine on charcuterie. There are several wine tours to choose from-- some where you can walk through the estate, vineyards, and caves while other tours are seated. Our group opted for a casual option, where you go up to one of their bars and pick up a glass to enjoy it while enjoying the property. Reservations are highly recommended for any experience :) Aside from one slight grumpy bartender, the staff here were really nice and friendly! The clean, air conditioned restrooms were really nice. Overall, a great way to spend the afternoon + different than the usual winery. Would recommend a visit! read more

Stopped by here for hubby's birthday, it was a new winery for us. I booked ahead online and was browsing their options since I was looking for something that would also work for non-drinkers. I came across the Legacy Cave Tour, which is adults-only and offers a lower fee for non-drinkers, which I thought was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the online booking didn't work for me, so I had to call to make the reservation. When we checked in, the woman at the front desk gave me a bit of a weird vibe. After looking up our reservation, she said, "Oh, indeed you do have a reservation." It just felt like an odd response, like... why wouldn't we? is it because we're brown? We arrived a little early, so we spent some time browsing the gift shop upstairs. That's where we met our guide, Will, who was lovely, friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. I mentioned it was my husband's birthday, and he asked if we'd been given a birthday sticker. Apparently they offer special occasion stickers at the front, which the check-in woman never mentioned, but Will made sure we got one, which was a nice touch. The tour itself was a small group, which I really liked. We went into the cave, and for those drinking, the tour included 3 wines. It was interesting learning about the history of Beringer Vineyards, and again, Will did a great job explaining everything. One thing I do wish they offered: for non-drinkers, it would be nice to have something like grape juice or a non-alcoholic option during the tour. There were a few of us in that situation, and it felt a little odd not having anything to sip on. After the tour, we walked the grounds, which was really nice. It's free to explore the property and browse the gift shop, which makes it a pleasant stop even beyond the tour itself. I was on a Girl's trip and we chose Beringer as one in my group only drank white wine so I was looking for a winery that would let you choose your tastings as well as have an outdoor tasting area. Beringer is perfect for this. With the basic garden tour package ($35), you get a card when you check in and you get a choice of 4 pours. The first pour is at the start and then you wander their beautiful gardens to get the remaining drinks. It was very relaxing to just sit outside, enjoy the views and engage with friends! We then took a quick tour of the beautiful old Tudor home on the property. The staff was super friendly and made us feel welcome and not rushed which was also nice. This was probably my fav tasting on our trip as it combined my love of wine, gardens and beautiful old homes! read more

My dad and I had a wonderful time at Beringer Vineyard! My mom and dad had, in the early 2000's, come to visit the vineyard and had bought a bottle of wine together. Well, my dad and I during our visit had inquired about the same wine - which was no longer in production. HOWEVER! Juliet had gone above and beyond in her service and had hunted for a bottle in the reserves for my dad and found one - empty, but perfect all the same - for memories. Next in our series, "How to Entertain Children in Napa Valley," we visited Beringer Vineyards. We opted for the "Discover Beringer Self-Guided Outdoor Tour" which is $35 per person and free for any children. We self-guided ourselves directly to the first pour and didn't bother exploring so I can't say whether there is much to see. We chose a really nice shady table outdoors near a pouring station and settled in for about an hour and a half. All the pours were from that one station. There was also a small structure nearby that sold snacks. We picked a small charcuterie board that included cheese, grapes, and crackers. The larger size included meats but it seemed too big for our party. The water crackers were stale, but I loved that the Beringer branded charcuterie board was something you could take home. They also had a frozen Peach Lemonade that was so slushy and delicious for our kiddo. They had some games set out including a big Jenga set and Connect 4. We lounged around playing games, chatting, and enjoying the 4 pours. It was so leisurely and pleasant. There was another adjacent area with tables nearby with a live band and the music drifted towards us, adding to the ambience. Beringer is a winery that attracts lots of big groups and birthdays so it was so lively and active. As we walked back towards the parking lot, we checked out the Victorian home that was the original Beringer home but it was a fancy pouring room so we couldn't really spend time in it. We had a great time and I recommend this to anyone who is looking for an unstuffy, relaxing experience. read more

I hate to be the BERINGER of bad news, but unfortunately, this was my least favorite winery experience out of the 6 that I visited when I was in Napa. I had high hopes for Beringer, considering they're such a notable and well-known producers of white wines, but the tasting we did just felt disappointing and lacking, and this winery would not be a return for me in the future unfortunately. Our tasting included a selection of 4 out of 6 wines on their pre-selected list, and all but one employee were immensely stingy with their pours (see picture). The tasting was also self-guided, and you had to walk yourself to a welcome station near the entrance when checking in and one other station in the garden to get all your wines. The employees also didn't try to introduce the wines, and we didn't get any pamphlets explaining the wines that we were trying either. Overall, we spent less than a hour there, mostly wandering in the garden/playing games near their wine station. There was live Parisian music when we came, but that ended about 20 minutes into our stay. read more

What an amazing experience at Beringer Vineyards. My husband and I went on the "Taste of Beringer" tour and Jesus was our guide. It was such a wonderful time. We tasted wines with food pairing and learned how to enjoy wine and the history of Beringer Vineyards. They are the oldest winery in Napa Valley and have great wines. I can't believe I thought they only sold the more mainstream bulk wine. They have reserve wine for members only that is amazing! Truly, my hats off to the Beringer family and the current owners. I'd recommend anyone who wants to learn about wine, how to drink it, what to pair it with and how to really appreciate wine to take this tour. It was raining so we did not get to walk the grounds fully but we did learn about the whole history of the land, Napa Valley history, and about the dirt in the region. We also got to meet Abe the winemaker. Truly an epic experience. Needless to say we became Reserve Club members and bought lots of wine and other items. read more

I have a long-standing history with visiting this fine piece of property and vineyard with amazing wines. I went with other people and we all found something that we all agreed was amazing. Everyone has their own tastes and that's what the difference is between the larger and the smaller wineries is they able to process more varieties of grapes and make different kinds of wines that would appeal to a larger group of people. This is a one stop shop. Please go into the taste room. Do the tour look around the gorgeous property and just have a good time. The staff and the property we're both well maintained and clean and the staff was wonderful and helpful. read more

This was our last stop of the day and we barely made it for their last hour of the tasting room. We get their wines as part of their wine club and wanted to do a quick stop. This is a beautiful winery with a very open space feel and beautiful gardens. We have done the self guided walking tour in the past and just enjoyed the views and taken pretty pictures. We have also done their cellar tour which has a lot fun facts and history behind Beringer and lastly on this visit we did their tasting room at the main house. Although we were probably the last guests to walk in for the day, we were received by very friendly staff who quickly sat us down and gave us suggestions. It had already been a long day so my bf was hungry and we ordered a charcuterie board. We were surprised for the size of this board! It was large and for sure a shareable portion. Everything was very fresh and beautifully placed. We enjoyed each wine we had to taste which included multiple reds. We don't usually get their reds in our shipments so it was a nice change to appreciate what they can do. Overall we had a nice relaxing time here enjoying really nice wine. Visited for a tasting on April 9 (1 PM) with my parents. From the beginning, the experience felt uncomfortable. Upon arrival, the host asked if I was there as a translator. During the tasting, when my mother spoke to me privately in Korean, the host asked me to translate her comments aloud "to be fair," which felt intrusive and unnecessary. My father was also asked if he was a doctor, despite there being no context for that question. These were not isolated comments but a pattern of repeated assumptions that made the experience increasingly uncomfortable. Beyond that, the tasting itself felt more focused on promoting memberships than providing a thoughtful experience for paying guests. I shared this feedback directly with the winery. While I received an initial apology and was told an investigation was underway, I did not receive clear follow-up on what actions would be taken. I expected a more thoughtful and respectful experience. Based on this visit, I would hesitate to recommend this winery to guests who may be perceived as not being fluent in English, whatever that assumption may be based on. read more

Beringer is an absolutely gorgeous estate! It might look modest from the outside, but it's surprisingly expansive. Very kid-friendly with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and you can even enjoy wine by the glass. I tried the White Meritage -- it was crisp and refreshing, just right for a warm spring day. Beringer Vineyards are located north of St Helena. This iconic winery is a must see in visiting Napa Valley. The winery was established in 1884 and survived through the prohibition. My friends and I got the wine passport. Meaning you can visit 10 local wineries for the one price you pay for the passport. They were our fifth stop and refused to service us after looking at our passport, seeing that we had visited 4 other spots. We were not acting drunk at all. Once you get to your parking space, head to the front desk to check in, get a sticker to wear and they'll direct you up a flight of stairs to meet with your guide. Some quick facts are that this winery is almost 150 years old, the third oldest, and they do not make any bubbles. After a tour of the caves, you'll be directed to the tasting bar. At the bar, you'll try some of the more upscale wines and get more wine facts and history presented to you. You can visit the historical home on the property, but only the first floor, however, wine club members get private tastings on the upper floor. Ben was our wine guide, and he was a wealth of knowledge concerning the history and the wines produced here. Made a reservation here for my dad's 70th birthday. We were a party of 12 including 2 toddlers & 1 infant. It was SO family-friendly! The staff made us feel welcome from the get go at check-in, and that continued throughout our entire stay. They were attentive and went out of their way to make the kids feel included. It was so unexpected and greatly appreciated as it was our first time bringing the kids out to Napa. We did the Discover Beringer self-guided tour since that one welcomes kids. Such a beautiful and historic winery. Beringer Vineyards was established in 1876 by the Beringer Brothers. Located in St. Helena, it is the oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley. They were one of the first to use hand dug caves and cellars. During Prohibition, Beringer was allowed to make wine for religious reasons. Of course, not all the wine made went to the sacristy, hence the creation of the Whisper Sister label. During prohibition a quiet knock on a door and a whisper might gain you access to a secret speakeasy owned by a brave outlaw known as a Whisper Sister who served banned liquid refreshments. In 1934, it was the first winery to offer public tours and wine tasting following the repeal of Prohibition. The grounds and historic buildings are stunning. The Rhine House is a beautiful masterpiece. Built in the early 1880s, it features Queen Anne and Chateauesque architectural styles. Check out the stained glass doors of Jacob Beringer at the front entry. It was definitely built to entertain and to impress visitors. Nice to be able to freely stroll along the winding walkways throughout the vineyards. Lots of lovely nooks along the pathways. Loved seeing the grapes on the vines. Tours of the property and caves are very reasonable. Walk-ins are also welcomed. Lots of parking is available. The family sold the winery to Nestle in the 1970s who then sold the winery to the Texas Pacific Group in 1996. They took the group public the following year. Interesting to me because TPG has acquired and flipped so many companies. Definitely put Beringer Vineyards on your list for Napa. A wonderful winery to explore. read more

Great vineyard to mark the start of your wine tasting journey. Beringer is the perfect spot to dive into the rabbit hole of Napa Valley's wines as an amateur - simply because they are one of the oldest establishments, with affordable 3 cup wine tasting for beginner alcoholics. I opted for the cave tour with 3 wines to taste, and it was the perfect experience for a beginner like myself. I didn't really feel the alcohol after the 3 cups, and the short and sweet variety was enough to introduce you to what kind of wine to pursue. Complimented by a little tour in the cave, the tour isn't exactly picturesque, but our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, even though he claims to be new a hire. Parking was pretty easy, but the entrance is easy to miss. The place is very big on the inside, with nice areas to soak in the sun and take amazing pictures. read more

The Walking Cave and Wine Tasting experience was one of the options on our winter wine passport. I was glad we booked a reservation a couple days in advance. The wines were good, but not my favorite of the weekend. The cave tour guide was great and when we would ask questions, he would thoroughly answer them. The Cave stroll is only 30 minutes, so keep that in mind. It's not an extensive tunnel of caves. There are some great opportunities for photos. read more

We booked the cave tour for 4pm. It was the last tour of the day, since the winery closes at 5pm. The tour itself was great, brief overall, but nice piece of history and the tour guide was well versed in the history of the winery. The tour itself took us about 30 minutes and we were able to taste 3 wines during. Afterwards, everything was closing down for the night so we felt that we weren't able to experience anything else. I wish that info was in the original booking email--"come early to explore the vineyard because doors will close shortly after your tour." Something that I also should take responsibility for since I could've checked the times. We quickly walked through a few areas and it is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely wedding venue worthy. The wines we were able to sample were good. Nothing I would consider buying and/or shipping home but I enjoyed the variety of them. If you're in the area, I'd say go check it out for the gorgeous esthetic, the cave tour isn't expensive so I'd also recommend that, but I WOULD NOT go out of my way. The traffic in the evening is also god awful.. our drive back to the Golden Gate Bridge took 2 hours, with one hour driving on 1 lane. read more

Beringer is always a favorite. The Chardonnay is my go to, never disappoints. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is my other favorite. The entire vineyard is pretty with little vignettes where you can relax, enjoy your wine & hang out. They do a wonderful cheese board so I highly recommend you request one when you book your tasting, it has a nice variety and you get to keep the cheese board. One of my favorite tasting options is the porch. Big comfy patio furniture and a gorgeous view. This time we did the member's tasting room. Everyone makes an effort to ensure you enjoy your visit, giving fun information on the winery & its history and making sure you have everything you need. I purchased a membership last year while visiting and love the wine options that are mailed out. My brother uses his membership for tastings & member events very frequently and there are many nice perks to the membership such as special tastings areas and options along with discounts. read more
