After more than three years as club members, I'm embarrassed it took me this long to leave a review. Frog's Leap is simply our favorite winery in Napa Valley, and the reasons run deeper than the wine itself. In a valley increasingly dominated by cabernet sauvignon monoculture, John and Rory Williams have stayed true to a different philosophy -- growing and making wines that reflect genuine passion rather than market trends. They are also committed to responsible farming practices like organic, dry farming that are not only good for the land, but result in wines that have a sense of place. That commitment shows in every bottle. Not every varietal will suit every palate (I haven't quite gotten behind Charbono yet - sorry Rory!), but each one is exceptionally well-crafted and represents remarkable value, especially against the Napa marketplace. The wines are site-driven, elegant and balanced, not just over-oaked fruit bombs. The property is gorgeous, the tasting room staff are consistently warm and accommodating, and the winery is genuinely family-friendly -- something that matters to us greatly, as we often visit with our son. It's important to belong to a place that makes you feel welcomed, and not some of the sterile, hoity-toity atmosphere of many wineries these days. The club events and regular pickup party are highlights our whole family looks forward to when they come around. We have many great memories there like getting to help sort grapes in the 2023 vintage, cookie decorating around Christmas timeThere's also something special about seeing John and Rory at those events, hearing directly from them about their philosophy and how the current vintage is unfolding. This vineyard is a true Napa experience. We had a unique opportunity to meet John Williams the founder and winemaker at Frog's Leap. He guided us through his amazing property (along with his dog Sadie) and a wine glass in hand. He took us through his facility and parts of the vineyard. You can feel the history of Napa when he walks you through his story. He is a legend in Napa, and both educated us and kept us laughing. We then sat and tasted a number of wines with him including a library selection that took the experience over the top. I highly recommend this winery for your next Napa visit. read more

The people are wonderful and the service is amazing. I was fortunate to go on a quiet Saturday early and could not have had a better time. Got the $75 tasting which started out at the main tasting facility, went in a brief tour around the vineyards and gardens, got to see the distillery and barrel room then concluded at a table on the patio at the main center. Our host, Brian, was awesome. His dad works at the estate also. He was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. I really wanted to try their premier Cab (Rossi) which wasn't included. I promised I'd buy at least one bottle and he accommodated which was really nice. I ended up buying two of them. We were looking for an outdoor tasting experience where we could take in the wine region scenery while still having a laid back experience. The Garden Bar tasting was perfect for this! It's set up as a bar, where you can go at your own pace and return to the bar when you're ready for the next pour. You can walk around the garden or relax. This was perfect for my group since we wanted to stroll outside and take pictures while trying a variety of the wine. The staff was very friendly, and the property was lovely. The wines were good but not memorable for me personally, although admittedly I'm not the biggest wine drinker. I would say this is a great experience if you are optimizing for flexibility and a relaxing tasting (as opposed to a seated tasting with a stricter flow). read more

We really enjoyed coming to frogs leap! We had our dogs with us so did the garden tasting which allowed pets. You get to walk through their beautiful garden grounds and stop by the outdoor garden bar. They give you a glass and you can seat yourself anywhere or just walk around. This vineyard was a lovely follow-up to Davis Estates. This vineyard in contrast is like a walk through an E.M. Forster setting. The garden is beautiful with gorgeous sunflowers and a wide range of flora. We did the garden tasting only and it was a perfect unrushed way to enjoy the wine and the scenery. The house is picturesque and warm ~ segue into the garden. If you are looking for grand epic vistas ~ then you may want to try elsewhere. But if you are a nature lover and appreciate a casual yet beautiful surrounding / not to mention delicious wines...do not hesitate to visit! read more

Unfortunately we were told the path to the garden area for the tasting. Made it there, which was peaceful and beautiful. That's where it falls short. We were handed a mystery glass and told to roam. We are from out of town and we visited this winery. This is by far the worst winery that I've ever been to. The vineyard itself is quite gorgeous and their garden is absolutely beautiful. The staff were so very nice and offered our family peaches and we're very accommodating. However, the wine is awful, and it's very overpriced. The only wine that I kind of liked was a Cabernet. For six bottles of this Cabernet it was $750. I think that's a bit too much. I would not go back. read more

Had such a lovely time tasting at Frog's Leap! The property is absolutely beautiful and the service was great! We had a reservation for our group of 8, after a few minutes waiting by the frog pond - which did indeed have some frogs, we were taken to the lovely trellised garden tasting area. Our tasting was led by Jazz, who was very personable and ended up being a great host. He never rushed us and made sure that our glasses were never empty for too long. We tasted six wines throughout the visit, with the rosé and the flycatcher red blend being the favorite amongst the group, just about everyone went home with a bottle of one or the other. We enjoyed exploring the property, and wish we hadn't had to leave for another reservation so quickly because we absolutely would've wandered some more. It was an expansive property with so much to see. We also got to feed the chickens, which was a fun highlight for the day. Would definitely come back here and will recommend this spot to people looking for Napa Valley wineries! read more

I was looking for something to do before dinner, and we had about 1.5 hours to kill, so someone recommended we see if Frog's Leap could accommodate us. Thankfully, we were in luck and our party of 5 was able to do a tasting in the gardens before they closed for the day. The gardens were absolutely beautiful. We came in spring, so we saw so many flowers, but it was especially the jasmine growing on the trellis that was captivating. It smelled wonderful. With our tasting fee, each person was able to taste four wines, and how it worked was you would get one wine poured at a time by Manny in the trailer, and then you could leisurely enjoy it at any table in the gardens and then go back up to the trailer in order to get your next wine. I really enjoyed the rosé and reds I tried, and Manny even let us try a bit of Zinfandel (which is not included in the standard 4 wines with the tasting). I also loved that they had a jar of souvenir corks you could take for free. Manny also explained the newest bottle design which allows you to easily remove the label after running the bottle under water, so that it is easier to reuse and recycle. I thought that was a great and innovative design. All in all, this tasting is great for people looking for a more laidback tasting experience in a beautiful setting. The main house you enter through is also beautiful and has a wraparound porch (would love to return for the other experiences at this winery). read more

Of all the places we visited in Napa and Sonoma we probably felt most connected to this one because we got to see grapes being crushed (!!) I kind of can't believe we were allowed so close, but it was incredibly special to drink a Sauvignon blanc while watching this year's Sauvignon blanc harvest make its way through the process. We even got to try some of the juice. Elsewhere on the property is lovely--kindof a "we will come find you with your next tasting" vibe--but getting so close to the crush was absolutely the highlight of the day and one of the highlights of our week-long trip. Highly recommend for the laid back, kind staff that are here! You can drink wine anywhere... but when you're on site in wine country, this is the kind of experience that makes a place unforgettable. read more

Wow!! We did the Garden Bar tasting and were blown away by pretty much everything. The grounds and plants were stunning with larger tables set out near the bar (loved the shipping container use!) and sets of Adirondack chairs scattered throughout the garden. We loved the concept of meandering around the garden and stopping back to the bar when you are ready for your next taste. I had never done a tasting in that format and think it's a really great idea, especially on a beautiful Spring day. (My daughter said she did not want to leave!!) Natalie and Lucinda were very knowledgeable about the winery and the wines and Kristen(? - sorry if I got that wrong) who checked us in and out was super friendly and kind. We got stuck in bad East Bay traffic on our way up and thought we'd miss our tasting but she was reassuring and we did not miss it. We will definitely be back (try to get there earlier for more time in the beautiful garden) and recommend Frog's Leap whenever we have guests from out of town! We visited Napa back in September and I'm finally getting around to leaving reviews. We LOVE LOVE LOVED Frog's Leap!!! The property was so beautiful. We were greeted by Sadie and she let us give her lots of pets, which helped with us missing our 2 Aussies back at home. We did the Garden Bar reservation and our host was Vianca. She was super chill and gave us the rundown on the property at a great pace where we weren't ever out of wine, but didn't feel rushed. The garden is absolutely stunning to walk through. So many different plants and flowers to look at. We ended up running into another couple in the garden that was visiting Napa from Indianapolis as well! We also enjoyed seeing all the chickens and the day to day work at the vineyard. This was the only winery that we had wanted to join their wine club, but ended up being unable to because they cannot ship directly to Indiana. I think we could do a 3rd party shipping service with the wine club, but it increase the cost quite a bit. I would like to revisit it though because we really loved their wines. We ended up purchasing the wine club wines + 2 extra bottles of the concrete aged Sauvignon Blanc (one of our favorite ones of our whole trip) to ship back one time via 3rd party. read more

Honestly tried to like this place but the guide and wine was not what I expected. The wine we tried was not very good and the tour was very bland. Maybe it was because we came from Pride winery which was an amazing experience but I was kind of expecting the same with a higher price point. Highly recommend this winery! I went with 2 friends and we had such a lovely time here. We had made a reservation for an outdoor wine tasting, and were disheartened to see that it would be rainy & windy that day. However, the Frog's Leap staff were super accommodating and placed us under a covered porch with tarps to protects us from the wind, and the porch was also heated with lamps! They even brought us blankets to warm us up. The whole experience was so very cozy and lovely. Although it was very rainy and gloomy, the outdoor view from the porch was still beautiful. The winery grounds are really nice and spacious and I know it would be absolutely gorgeous to walk through on a sunny day. They even have a dog! Our wine tasting guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. We loved listening to her give a little speech about each wine she was giving us. Out of the 5 wines we tasted, my favorite was the sauvignon blanc. Really refreshing and light. They also gave us complimentary snacks (seasoned chips, almonds, cheese, cranberry/ginger crostini, and a whipped cheese) which paired so nicely with the wine! We weren't expecting snacks at all so it was such a pleasant surprise. This place is quite affordable and you definitely get your money's worth out of the cozy ambiance and the amazing service. The interior is so nicely decorated and really feels like a super comfy and inviting home, with a fireplace and couches and all. All the staff were so friendly and treated us like family. They offered to take our umbrellas while we did the wine tasting and also were willing to take pictures of us :) Will be saying only positive things about this place to all my friends who ask about it! read more

Our DD did not love the sparkling water options given, so that was a non-value. But the wine itself was delightful, we ended up buying a bottle of the rose. The grounds at Frog's Leap are quite lovely, unfortunately, I visited on a very rainy day. I quickly asked if we would be staying inside . I was told we would be walking around the facility and then tasting on the outdoor porch. I pointed out that I had signed up for a house tour and tasting and they said well. The porch was part of the house and it had heaters and blankets. There was a total of five in my group and we walked around the facilities with umbrellas. When we came back to the main house Every member asked if we could go inside and we were told no. We then asked them to turn on the heaters, there were four available. They turned on two of them. One person in our party went and got the blankets. Our host left for quite some time to get another bottle of wine when she came back we pointed out that the two heaters had stopped working. She told us because it had been a very slow day, They were closing early and had shut everything off. We were welcome to stay and finish the wine on the porch, but she would be leaving. This was not 4:30 in the afternoon. Our tasting was at 1:30. I have been visiting Napa Valley for the month of November for the past 20 years. I have never had a worse experience than this. read more

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. This was our 4th stop of our Napa trip, and we'd made a reservation to split a tasting, which they accommodated graciously. Wine itself just wasn't my cup of tea, but I really enjoyed learning why it might not have been! The unique thing about some of their wines is that they are aged in concrete--this gave it a distinct flavor profile that I was honestly delighted to know that I didn't like too much, and helped me to discover the types of wine that I do like. We came in over Thanksgiving weekend, when the trees had beautiful vivid colors, and the air was cold and crisp and skies were clear and blue--the perfect backdrop to a lovely wine-filled day seated outside in the garden here. read more

Pros: Everything at Frog's Leap is beautiful, from the house to the gardens. Upon arriving, we only had to wait for about 5 minutes to be taken back to a table in the gardens and were provided a tasty selection of homemade kettle chips and crisps. Cons: Unfortunately, outside of the Sauvignon Blanc (which had an interesting mineral quality from the stone vessels it was aged in), none of the wines stood out to us. While our server was friendly and polite, we weren't told anything about the history of the vineyard or John Williams (although his name was dropped on a first name basis multiple times without context). It was like we were supposed to already be familiar with the brand coming in. The tasting itself felt rushed, as less than 5 minutes through the first pour the server came by to start us on the next one while we still had wine in our glasses. At the end of the tasting, the server asked if there was anything we would like to try or taste again. My wife mentioned she was interested in the rose, to which the server explained what grapes were in the rose before telling us that our card had already been charged for the tasting and that we could walk around the property with the rest of our cab before she left. read more

Booked the Signature Seated Tasting ($45 pp) for the 5 people in my group for Sunday at 11:30 am. They offer different packages, including one that included a winery tour, but we opted for the basic seated tasting. We didn't realize, but all tastings are outdoors. That's fine for regular Napa weather, but unfortunately it was freezing and windy on the day we came, so even with the heat lamps we were still cold. They do have blankets you can use though, which is nice. The Signature Tasting comes with five wines, two white and three red. I'm more of a white wine kinda gal, so my favorite was the Sauvignon Blanc, but everyone else in my group preferred the reds. Some folks liked the Zinfandel, and others preferred the cab. They also provide some small bites in the form of biscuit sticks with butter and a mustard dip! I love that they don't rush you and serve the next wine every 10 minutes or so (or at least that's what it felt like), so it gives you plenty of time to sip your wine and chat. read more

I wasn't impressed by the cheese plate as it was on the smaller side. We sat on the porch overlooking the gardens and vineyards. You can also walk the grounds after your tasting. You can do it before also, but after is nice cause you can bring your glass with you.
