Faust has great wines and an amazing "Act II" tasting experience. We decided to make a trip here after visiting Quintessa a couple years ago. The property is beautiful and it was fun to hear how the story of Faust is integrated into the decorations of the house and the storytelling of the wine. My group of 6 had an amazing wine tasting experience here. Great service and hospitality all around. We arrived at the house and were welcomed with a glass of Chardonnay immediately. They encouraged us to explore the house both downstairs at the speakeasy and upstairs. We had our tasting upstairs in a gorgeous, bright and airy living room. The interior design and decor was very modern and comfortable, despite the exterior dark, moody house. All of the wines we tasted were amazing and it was nice that we got to compare different vintages of the same wine. The appetizer pairings were also delicious! Absolutely wonderful wine tasting experience. My friend and I did the Act 1 tasting and was able to try 4 different types of wine with one extra tasting of our choice. We were given finger food snacks with our wine which were tasty. Their Cabernet is so good. I'm just getting into wine so it's hard for me to describe wine but their 2019 Cabernet definitely has layers of flavor. We were able to explore the house and the outside grounds with wine in hand. The house is gorgeous with their two different styles from the bottom and top floor. There is a speakeasy below the house and the view outside is amazing. We needed getting a bottle of wine and it came with a very nice well made wine bag. I would definitely come back here again. read more

Faust Haus is a restored 1870's Victorian Mansion painted black. The black paint creates a gothic look for the house that sits on a hillside. Faust wines are from their Coombsville vineyard which is the southern most part of the Napa Valley. The vineyard has volcanic soil and cool climates. I hadn't heard of coombsville before but I enjoy a cool climate wine, so looked forward to tasting the wines. The winery is mainly Cabernet Sauvignon ( limited production) but Sauvignon Blanc is served as a welcome splash. There's seating inside the house and outside on the terraced patio. The day we visited inside seating was unavailable due to a plumbing issue, but it was a really nice day so sat outside and enjoyed the view. I'll need to come back because I really wanted to see the inside of the house and the prohibition era cellar. Snacks were served with tasting - veggies, crackers, pimento dip and a beet hummus dip. We didn't really eat it since we just came from lunch, but nice to have the snacks available. I enjoyed all the wines offered with their Act I tasting. The service was fantastic, parking easy and the winery is located right on hwy 29, so not hard to find. We left with their Pact Cabernet Sauvignon- " As soon as you trust yourself- you will know how to live". read more

We went on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too busy. It has a beautiful view of Saint Helena. They welcomed us with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, and then we did a seated tasting downstairs in their cave/wine cellar. This property mainly does only reds the only white wine is a Sauvignon Blanc. It was just they're welcome wine they don't make a lot of cases of that. The host was very cool and the story behind the house is very cool! They do ask if you wanna know the story behind it or not because it does have to do with "making a deal with the devil" which I appreciated them asking before we accepted. Very cool Black house and story behind how it became a winery. Also the sister properties of the winery are opus one and flowers in Healdsburg. If you like cabs, syrahs and Merlot I definitely feel like it's worth a visit. read more

It's great to be back at Faust. Each visit I learn something new about them. My favorite wines there are Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. Couldn't resist this time and purchased a few more bottles for the holidays. Property is gorgeous and has a lot of history and meaning in the design. Great experience tasting today. Had the Act II tasting in cellar with tiered charcuterie tower. Both food and wine were excellent.

The estate was cool to visit and the service was friendly but unfortunately we didnt like any of the wines. We opted for the tour which allowed us to see around the house, learn a little about the history of the winery, tour the cellar area where the barrels were and do a barrel tasting, tour a speakeasy bar on property, and then end with a tasting in a beautiful private room with a plate of cheese and charcuterie. Overall a pleasant visit but just wish I liked the wines more! read more

A great personal tasting experience and some classic Napa cabs. Came with a friend on a winter Saturday. They were all sold out of tours, so we opted for the winter at the winery experience which had a tasting and some extra special snacks. Our host was lovely and gave us a really personal guided tasting, since we were a little earlier in the day and it hadn't filled up yet, he had lots of time to speak with us. The wines were typical Napa cabs, a good representation of the region and the little fondue onion dip and dippables paired with it nicely. Worth noting that this experience took place in their back tank holding building which was set up nicely, but wasn't as cool as the house. We were still able to walk through the house after and enjoy the views from there as well. read more

We had never heard of Faust Wines before our trip to Napa, but we were provided it as a recommendation from our resort concierge and we're glad they did so we could explore a new place! Faust is located in St. Helena and is centrally located in Napa Valley. When you arrive, they have a private parking lot down the hill with ample free parking, and you walk up the hill to the "Faust Haus". The landscaping is truly beautiful as you walk up to the Victorian style home. When you arrive, you're greeted outside and checked in by the host, and are provided with a glass of champagne as you're escorted to your table. I highly recommend getting a reservation in advance as the tasting areas are pretty small in scale and could be busy I could imagine at times. Tasting fees vary, we opted for the Act 1 tasting for $75 which starts with some light snacks and 4 different wines. Our host was really nice explaining the winery and the various wines and also brought us one of the wines from the library selection to taste as well as a bonus. All of the wines were absolutely outstanding and we left purchasing a bottle of "The Pact" Cab for $125 which was absolutely amazing! We've added Faust to our list of wineries we must return to on our next trip! read more

Fabulous picnic experience at Faust!! Since they were hosting a private event inside their beautiful Victorian, we were able to book a picnic experience outside. They were so accommodating - Due to traffic, we were 45 minutes late. We called to inform them and they were so friendly and said they would still be able to host us. We got there and the views were spectacular. It was such a hot day and were were immediately greeted at check in with some fabulous white wine. The host walked us over to the table and we were seated under a large umbrella, which was a perfect amount of shade for the two of us. The host that served us at our table, Julio, was very professional and informative about the wine and the history of the property. The food and wines were amazing!! The house was beautiful and I would love to come back for the full tour because it was such a great experience! read more

The Pact Society cab is one of my absolute favorites. The views here are picturesque and serene, and the Haus is one of a kind. I love the accompanying crudités and they pair well with each tasting. Truly have never fallen so in love with a place like I did with Faust. Ask for the story/concept behind the decor. The art was so well thought out and really tells the story so well with every inch of this building. Perched up on a hill you get a gorgeous view and our experience was so private and personable. We were able to ask a lot of questions and learned so much about wine and the process they use in making their wine But the wine itself is what makes it memorable. I've never been to napa so I assumed all wine tasted like Faust but I was so wrong. Faust wine is the smoothest wine I've ever had in my life. After the over the top experience at AXR and the lovely, personable stop NB at Martini; Faust was a bit of a let down. Nibbles were very good but we only got to try a few tastes of their wine. As others mentioned, no offer to revisit any wines. The host was professional and interesting. Plus their quality is good for newbies but fairly pedestrian if you want something with some depth or soul. Their entry level Cabernet has decent Napa QPR at $55 but the Syrah and Merlot at $90 is a joke based on both their CA competition at that price point and their French equivalents. The $125 cab blend is also not worthy of that price. The house, formerly St Clement, and grounds are lovely. My friend bought a few bottles but no tasting fee credit. I will not return and cannot recommend this experience. The website who rated this one of the most 27 beautiful Napa experiences is wrong as is Esther Mobley who ranked this as one of the 25 wineries to visit. Based on this experience and my subpar Ashes and Diamond experience, she is not a wine critic to trust as I suspect she overrates shiny, pretty things and underrates true soulful quality. read more

The wait is over! After a few years of renovation and reinvention of the Victorian home up on the hill, the former home of St Clement, The Faust Haus is open 9/4! Located in St. Helena, this former farmhouse and Prohibition Era cellar is an escape from the typical Napa Valley tasting room. Tasting through different wines of the Faust, starting with the first vintage of Sauvignon Blanc with fruits coming from Combsville, the SB has tropical notes and is very pleasing. The stars of the show include their beautiful reds - the Hour (Syrah based) and the Pact (Cabernet). We had the 2004 Faust that tasted amazing. The mystery box of goodies are prepared in-house with amazing dips, beets and other snacks that paired wonderfully with the wines. I agree with some of the reviews on here. The much anticipated Faust tasting left a bit to be desired. The pours were quite small and the host's sarcastic remarks to our group were unwelcomed. Faust bills itself as a top notch high end find wine by the Hunneeus Trust and we felt the host and experience didn't match the price points of the wines. Most wines run in the $90 range. The lowest cost tasting here runs $75 per person. The black snack box was well done with a nice variety of snacks and the wines are 4.5/5 from the perspective of wine quality, but the host's demeanor towards our group detracted from the experience. I've been visiting Napa for 20 years and I know top notch wine + host adds to a top notch experience. I probably won't visit Faust again. read more

How do I start here? This is one of those presumptuous tastings that Napa has added to their repertoire of wineries that cater to the younger crowd. From the black painted Victorian old home that is painted over like a cherished antique heirloom to the kitschy fun patio furniture. The views? Stunning. The music? Not what I'd think of listening to while drinking wine with beautiful views. (I don't think the B-sides of 80's Bauhaus comes to mind when it reminded me of when I used to drink cold duck.) It has a "hip vibe" but I wish the wines would have made up for it. Syrahs are hard to come by and a really superb one is hard to come by. I get it. The cabs are your typical Napa-esque style. Our host on the other hand, was down to earth, friendly and easy to talk to. He asked which wines we wanted to revisit and I was embarrassed that I hadn't even finished the Syrah because I just didn't like it. The snacks were good but to keep it all in an inconspicuous box was funky. When our server opened the lid instead of taking them out to actually present them in a true Napa style hospitality form was like your buddy who breaks out with the snacks and leaves it all in the bag and jar for you but you're ok with it because he's alright. With that said, we tipped him very well. We didn't buy any bottles but he was so nice that I felt we should. (Odd!) All I can say is that for those who give a bad review of any winery we should all tip 15-18% of the tasting if your server is nice no matter what the cost you think it should be. Regardless, I left my expensive camera there and we were called the next day. This was truly appreciated even for a quirky place but for them to be that organized and thoughtful to find our phone number and reach out like that was very nice. That's what small boutique wineries do. There are obviously many different experiences here - go if this place speaks to you. This is a quirky review but so is this place. Glad I didn't hear about their spooky history - I wouldn't have liked that tour or learned about that. Maybe during the Halloween season but spooky wine is just not my gig. read more

What an amazing tasting experience. Came here for a tasting with friends that are members. We had a great seat overlooking the scenery- all seats here have a great view since the tasting house is nestled on top of a hill. Tried a lot of great wines, from Chardonnay to the cabs. One of my favorite wineries in Napa and I've been to a lot of wineries in Napa. What makes this place so special is that it's located up hill. The exterior of the winery/ house is very moody. The theme of the winery is heaven and hell. Upstairs, the walls are white and decors are light colors. Downstairs, the walls are black with dark decors. I came here the weekend of Halloween and it was perfect timing. The leaves on the trees were changing colors. The weather was cool. Not too crowded during fall season. We visited Faust Haus on a recent trip to Napa (Dec 2022) for their interactive tasting called "Act II". This is the slightly upgraded experience from their standard tasting and worth every penny. First, you get a personalized tour of the winemaking area and then a private tasting of some of their best wines (including The Pact, their reserve Cabernet which is exquisite) along with food pairings for the wines. Our host was Steve Frattini, who was so knowledgeable and passionate about the wines. He truly made the experience for us, as his knowledge and personality made the two hours fly by. This is truly one of our favorite places in the Napa Valley. So much so we hesitate to share with others our little secret spot. We've been coming up to the Valley for the past 15 years so we've been around a winery or two. We first came as guests to a couple of Faust's events and when we say they throw a party like no one else, we mean it. We've since become members and truly they host member parties like we've never seen and you truly feel valued and appreciated. Plus, the staff is exceptional particularly Conner, Drew, and all the other's who've hosted us along the way are the best in the Napa Valley and all seem to genuinely enjoy working at Faust.
