We had a spectacular brunch at Davies come here Vineyards. For those of you that don't know J. Davies is the red wine production from Schramsburg. We had a beautiful brunch pairing with both the sparkling wines and the red wines from both wineries. We had the private dining room and were served by Kelly the tasting room manager. It was a wonderful experience and we learned something new to do with caviar called the bump which you will see in one of the pictures as you put it in the crease of your hand between your thumb and fore finger take a sip of champagne , lick up the caviar, and then take another sip of champagne and let the caviar just burst in your mouth what a wonderful experience read more

He gave us the most amazing customer service, I could not have left more happy. I HIGHLY recommend stopping by for a tasting or to even just buy a bottle. Went in for a tasting to celebrate my good friends purchasing their first home. Excellent service, knowledgeable, and experience from jesus.

We had reservations here for 11 on our day off. Fun tasting room just outside the Main Street of St. Helena. Our wine guide, Rebecca, was friendly, fun and energetic. We loved her! We sat upstairs and had the bubblies flight which are from Schramsberg and tried a Cab and Pinot Noir from the Davies label. They're all related/same family of wine makers. Since Davies makes the red wine I'd come here for that but I'm a bubblies girl so...they don't usually mix and match wine flights during a weekend since it gets so busy so just a heads up. All the wines tasted good. The education around the wine was great. The seating area is cozy, warm, bright and you wouldn't know you're just off the Main Street. We'll be back with our friends who come here regularly. read more

For Schramsberg wine but Davies hospitaltiy. Do the bubbles and caviar tasting. It was such a wonderful experience and one of the most thought-out tasting experiences from a winery. It's fun how they also do a premium wine with a "standard" wine for each pairing to show the difference. Note that none of the wine is Davies it is all Schramsberg however Davies has the kitchen which is why it is hosted there. I wanted to try at least one Davies which we got to do and we ended up buying that bottle :). Had I planned I probably would have scheduled to do a Davies wine tasting right afterwards. Jesus was so knowledgeable and did an amazing job explaining all the wines and what food they would pair amazing with. We had the bubbly experience and it was fantastic. They ran out of the cheese tray but other than that, great experience. We had the patio all to ourselves and the weather was perfect. I have come here a few times and I have to say that the sparkling here is one of my all time favorites. Davies is a sister vineyard to Schramsberg. And their Blanc de Nior is amazing, for me it's my go to special occasion sparkling and for the quality and the price hands down the best deal and my favorite bottle of bubbly! They have a lovely outdoor tasting area with outdoor heaters and a tent on those not so perfect weather days. Our server was Ruby, what a delight she was and a font of knowledge about these stunningly delicious sparkling wines. We chatted and listened and learned much about their process on making these magical bubbles. My wonderful friends are members here and I literally cannot wait to come back and of course I'll grab a few bottles to go. Our first time visiting Davies, and we had a great time! Ruby was our tasting guide, and she was absolutely lovely. The tasting menu welcomed us by name, a nice, personalized touch! We enjoyed a tasting of five different sparklies. My favorite hands down was the French Laundry Modicum Blanc de Blancs - crisp and delicious. Interestingly, we had a reservation for The French Laundry that same evening. We learned that this wine is typically only available at French Laundry, but since the restaurant had been shut down for several months due to corona, they sent the wine over to Davies, with the stipulation that a portion of proceeds go into the employee relief fund. A very good deed on Thomas Keller's part. When we got to The French Laundry, we were very happy to have a couple more glasses of the Modicum there! Davies is a sister winery of Schramsberg in Calistoga. Schramsberg was recommended to us by multiple people, and then one day while visiting John Anthony in downtown Napa, Kristen who works there informed us that we could taste Schramsberg wines at Davies instead of making the longer trek to Calistoga. Kristen contacted her friend Ruby at Davies, and voila, we had an appointment - thank you Kristen! We really enjoyed our tasting, and despite the fact that it was a sweltering 101 degrees that afternoon, the tasty bubbles combined with the great service made for a wonderful experience. This is a very unassuming building when you drive up, but there's a surprise waiting for you just inside. The decor is rustic and modern. A beautiful piece of artwork in the form of a light fixture fills the 2 story tasting room. We reserved a wine tasting appointment and we're very lucky to have Rimple as our hosts. After several visits back to this location, I dare say it's probably my favorite spot to lounge in St. Helena! Everyone from the person taking the reservation over the phone right down to the person behind the bar or holding the bottle is as knowledgeable as they are charming. Every guest that I had the pleasure of taking to this establish raves about the wine, the people and the atmosphere. The bubbles are refreshing, the reds are earthy, the atmosphere is laid back and unpretentious and it should not be compare to it's sister's winery (Shramsberg) because it has it's own identity and this younger sister has her own character that makes her truly unique on her own. We were lucky enough to have Jesus as our guide, while doing a mixed tasting at Davies. Even though the location was busy, and he was being pulled in multiple directions, Jesus was able to make sure that we had an enjoyable experience, and felt taken care of. Jesus made sure that we had an experience that we would come back to, and could recommend other people. We especially enjoyed the Pinot Noir that we tried, and were offered multiple off-menu items. I purchased a tasting experience along with a bottle of cabernet at an auction and after drinking the cabernet I had to schedule my tasting appointment at Davies Vineyards. The tasting room is situated just off the 29 in Saint Helena. It is a new facility with an indoor and outdoor venue. Our wine steward felt the outdoor area would provide a better setting for our tasting. We had our own table, comfortable and near a water feature. We were introduced to many wines in their portfolio including; Pinot Noir, Sparkling Wine, Sparkling Rose and our favorite, their Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet comes under three labels; Davies Vineyards, JDavies Vineyards, and JD Vineyards. Our favorite by a long shot was the 2014 Red Cap Vineyard JDavies Cabernet Sauvignon and it was priced $20 less than their Estate Cabernet. Our tasting was not rushed and we enjoyed every wine served as well as our time spent with our educated wine steward. Is it worth the price I paid at the auction? Hell yes! This is why I give Davies Vineyards 5 stars. Yes, Woohoo! As good as it gets! read more

I was so excited to try the Davies' tasting room after hearing great reviews from the locals and they mentioned I could also pick up my Schramsberg wines. Sadly, we were turned away on a quiet Sunday from an empty tasting room and I was told my wines were already sent. Once I arrived home I logged in to my account and no wines were shipped. It was so bizarre my date suggested that it may have been her first homophobic experience because why would you turn away wine club members. That is right as a member I could not taste their wines or pick up my wines because I did not have a reservation. I informed Shramsberg directly and here is their amazing customer service response. "Thank you for your email. I have forwarded your email to our Davies Tasting Room Mangers. I do apologize for your experience. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance." As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, this is a great example of poor customer service that started at the reception desk continued at the bar and even after I emailed them directly. Absolutely, no consideration for the fact that we were from out of town and excited new members. We were warmly greeted and welcomed by all the other wineries we visited without reservations except for the one I joined. Lesson learned read more
