Venge Vineyards is located in Calistoga in Napa Valley. I personally love wines made by Kirk Venge. The winery is tucked away and feels relaxing. The views are picturesque and overlook the vineyards. The tasting fee is $45 which I feel is very reasonable for Napa Valley, especially for how amazing the wines are. Our host was amazing and so informative. The wines here are fabulous. We really enjoyed our experience here and took a few bottles of wine home with us. We look forward to coming back because it was such an amazing experience! Great winery off the Silverado trail towards Calistoga. If you are not paying attention you will drive past the entrance as there are no large signs. We came to this winery because we loved the wines at B cellars and knew Kirk Venge was involved so Venge winery was a must try for us. We were met by our hostess right away very knowledgeable and personable. Sitting outside on the patio allows for a beautiful view with one on one service. I love visiting a winemakers winery. Kirk Venge is a rockstar winemaker and his label is producing some world class wines. Our visit included tasting several wines on a terrace overlooking the vineyards. The view was breathtaking and the wines were delicious. My favorite was the Bone Ash Cabernet Sauvignon from Calistoga. I also appreciated his Stagecoach Syrah which exhibited phenomenal structure and plenty of blue fruit. Venge was the second stop of our second day touring the vineyards between Napa and Sonoma Counties. For us, the tour was grand, with an exclusivity where you felt privileged to reserve a table so you could enter through the black gate onto the property that comprised beautiful vineyards and a tasting room house. With perfect weather and scenery, we enjoyed an excellent six-glass tasting, enjoying several selections of cabernet sauvignon, Zinfindel, and a red blend. One of the highlights of the tasting (in addition to enjoying it with my wife) was the Scout's Honor, which is the bee's knees of their collection; a delicious, full-bodied red blend that brought us to a place of spiritual purity and strength -- strength and spiritual purity. I would return for repeat tastings. We loved the cabs and the red blends and made sure we brought at least two to three bottles back with us to South Florida. read more

Despite living so close, I rarely venture over to the "other' wine country nor have I really driven the Silverado Trail. What a beautiful, scenic route! Plan some extra time before or after your destination so you can take in the Eastern edge of Napa county. Venge Vineyards = we were gifted a wine tasting. (It's otherwise $65pp) Arrived without the gate code (whoops) but were quickly greeted and buzzed in for our tasting. Gorgeous winter day meant the heaters were going but we were set up outdoors. Wine glasses everywhere set the tone that they wanted you to enjoy each varietal on its own, with no flavors to compete. I liked that! Our host was knowledgeable and relatable, so it was a great combo. Maybe I should know more technical terms about tasting but it's really just whether I like the wine or not. I've realized I'm not a drink-with-dinner girl but more a glass around the fire, happy hour, before/after dinner. I want something to stand alone. Anyhow.... Pace was perfect. Their friendly winery dog was icing on a cake! Overall, my favorite was the delicious 2017 KENEFICK RANCH VINEYARD MERLOT. Prices were higher than we'd spend for a tasting or the wine but that doesn't take away from the experience. Grateful to have enjoyed time at Venge Vineyards! read more

This most recent Napa trip some girlfriends and I came up to grab our shipments and enjoy some good wine. As we had to pickup at two spots along Silverado we decided to come here. This was one of our best decisions of the trip. My friend who had booked the tasting said they have very limited spots but we were able to nab one for Sunday at 12:30. We pulled into the long driveway to find another car exiting so we waited as the path is only suited for one car. Upon getting to the gate we spoke to our host through the callbox and drove in. Christian was waiting for us at the ranch house with the flag that we had been directed to drive to. The house was gorgeously furnished, and we were impressed with the view on the patio. All of us also appreciated the table height and chair height of the patio furniture. It was taller than an average table but not so tall that I felt like my feet were hanging off the chairs. This is important to me as I don't like places with the really tall chairs. Your girl doesn't want to worry about falling off when she's already a little naturally clumsy without any wine. There was one other table of 2 tasting at the time we were there. Christian gave us some history of the winemaker and the lands and inquired about our day. As we told him we had just come from Rombauer he offered to pour us the Chardonnay that was not at first part of the tasting menu. We loved the buttery flavor profile and the anticipation grew. While enjoying the cab franc we got a surprise visit from Sage, the winemakers dog. We had just been asking Christian about dogs so it was as if we spoke the visit into existence. Towards the end of our tasting we asked about Christian's favorites and he mentioned the Arsenal blend which was not originally on the tasting either but he brought out for us to pour as well. Oh my goodness! I could see why that was his favorite. Note during all the pours we were given a fresh glass which was helpful in allowing us to compare. At the end the one in our party that no longer has any wine membership attached decided to sign up! We were given her latest pickup bagged nicely and left 90 wonderful minutes later. read more

My husband and I stopped in without a reservation the day after Thanksgiving to see if we could get a tasting. Unfortunately they were closed however we were warmly greeted by Sheila who was on property. She was so wonderful to us. She let us take a quick look around the winery and take some photos. A delicious lineup of wines! We were recommended to come here by someone that knows the wines made by Kirk Venge and knows a tasting room hosted named Ish. We had the best time. We came in a van with a group of 8. We were welcomed warmly at the driveway which was a nice change because not everyone loves a van full of wine drinkers. We were a group of 8 ranging from 40-72 years old and all avid wine collectors. Ish was a fantastic host and sommelier. His ability to speak intelligently about the wine as well as keep us entertained was perfect for keeping our large group focused and attentive. We loved it so much we bought tons of wine and can't wait to return. This will for sure become a regular stop for us. The Zin, BDX, Syrah, and Bone Ash Cabernet were the highlights of the day. We also really enjoyed Croix in Russian River, the Pinot Noir was amazing. read more

This is our first visit to Napa Valley and Venge was our first stop. The bar for our trip is so high now that nothing will ever live up to the warm and welcoming experience we had with Ish and the deliciousness of the wines we tasted. My group of friends and I went here on an afternoon and it was our last winery of that day. We were late but they were very nice and understanding. We were seated inside and it felt homey in a modern way. Honestly we were all tired out from our activities earlier that day so we were not feeling the wine tasting as much. I would recommend booking a reservation here as your first stop or even second stop. It seemed like they had so many wines to try that every time I looked at the table, a new wine was poured into a new glass. They also don't have any food to pair which honestly would be nice to have. Our host Christian was friendly and answered any questions we had though. One of us did purchase some wine though. I still think people should try this winery though and it's very beautiful inside and outside. They are very generous with their pours and had so many to try. So definitely do not go here on an empty stomach. Or don't have this as your last winery tasting of the day unless you are only doing two wineries for the day. Then that would be okay. read more

This was my first time here - while the wines seemed to have more oak than I prefer, I think they were just young - they seem to sell out faster than they can let the wines age in the bottle. Brad, our tasting room person was terrific. He knew the history of the winery in great detail and presented the wines with a very warm and personal style. He was very comfortable in talking about the wines on any level of interest, catering to each person in our party. Took bottles of Merlot, Sangiovese and Zinfandel although the Cabs were quite nice, just above my price point. read more

We finally found the phone number for these guys and drove to the place only to realize it was CLOSED and the actual house they were at on that day was at a different venue. Apparently it's $25 per person to taste. We made reservations over the phone but could never find the place. If you do locate them, get their address and explicit directions on how to get there.. From what I've read, more Napa Valley tasting rooms are limiting the amount of time they'll spend with customers, even if they're buyers. Not so with Venge. Finding Venge isn't incredibly hard. Just put it in the navigation, but be on the lookout for a fairly small sign and tiny driveway. Don't be looking for a fancy, large stone sign by the driveway. Take the narrow drive and head to the gate. You have to be buzzed in. Once inside, we were greeted by Bradley who was great, and also was responsible for the excellent tunes (at least for our generation) that we heard throughout the tasting. What a lovely setting for wine tasting. We sat outside on the deck and looked out over the vineyards. Soooooo peaceful. The wines.....well, we started kind of slow but as you get towards their more expensive reds, there is no denying the quality of the wines. Excellent Cab and Scout's Honor Red. No wonder they have all those accolades. And you must try the Late Harvest Zinfindel. My wife was in heaven. Yet another wine club joined. Definitely worth visiting, even though it's a bit far from downtown Napa. So peaceful, nice people, excellent wines. read more

This place is amazing! I agree with Amanda that I almost hesitate to review Venge for that I do not want other people to find out about this great place. Their wines are delicious. My boyfriend introduced me to the Scouts Honor which was awesome. We set up a tasting a few weeks later are proceeded to be even more impressed with what they poured us in our tasting. The tasting room once was a private home and really does look the part. When we drove up to the address we had mapped out, it did not look like a tasting room but someone's residence. We called just to make sure we were outside the right gate and told indeed we were and to come on in. The house itself overlooks a vineyards and the gorgeous yellow mustard the Napa Valley gets in the winter/spring. Inside the house we walked in to find a cozy living room set up all with a fire blazing in the fire place (it was rainy and cold the day we came). We sat on the couch and were poured Chardonnay, Merlot, Scouts Honor, Cab, and Syrah. All of these were wonderful. The chardonnay was especially good, same with the Merlot... ok who am I kidding, they were all awesome. Each was poured into their own glass that was lined up on the coffee table for us. A nice touch so there is no mixing in your wine and also you have the ability to go back and taste one if you are trying to make up your mind on what to buy At the very end of our tasting we also spotted that they had a sangiovese open as well. We tasted that one and I was especially sold on purchasing a bottle of that. Without a doubt I will return here. For both their hospitality and their wines, I am very impressed. read more
