They greeted us with a glass of sparkling wine, which was very smooth. Who doesn't like bubbles? The Viognier was nice and light. The Charbono wine is very nice. The grounds are beautiful. It's a little bit of a drive from the Napa town area over on the backroads of Calistoga The GSM is fabulous.
Happenstance brought us to Girard. My husband and I were driving through Calistoga on our way to St. Helena. We saw this property from the road. After checking their hours, we popped in. It was a quiet morning so we were able to do a quick taste before heading on our way. Jackson told us about their wonderful wines. We tasted the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon. We had a lovely chat with him about both the vineyard and the surrounding area. He even gave us some recommendations of places to visit in the town where we were staying. The property is beautiful! I can only imagine what it would look like in spring/summer. The wine was delicious and a great start to our adventure of a day. I would love to visit again.
I have been a member for 8 years and the wines are always consistently good. Amanda was our server the past couple visits and always amazing!!!! Very knowledgeable about the wines, community, and has a real interest in her visitors. Whether you are seated inside or outside, you will enjoy the area.

I recently came with a large group of friends for their tasting. The property is gorgeous and feels more secluded and intimate than other wineries. The ranch style building also felt pretty unique for the Napa area. We were seated on the large porch at a couple of tables that we were able to combine into one so we could enjoy the tasting together. Service was friendly and we enjoyed the overviews which felt more personal than other wineries we've been to in the area. We started with a brut rose and progressed through to their cabernet sauvignon which was by far our favorite. I wasn't a fan of the grenache or zinfandel. We got a bottle of cabernet sauvignon to go and they have a larger selection of cabs which we were able to try a few more of before deciding on a particular region to bring a bottle home.
This one felt very high end, almost like a classy ranch style vineyard. We sat inside with our dogs in a nice lounge area. When we came, there were a few other folks but they weren't too busy. We did the tasting and tried a great selection of wines. They definitely have a very unique offering. The wines they have are definitely not for everyone but great if you want to try some unique types of wine that you can't really get anywhere else! They offering red and white wines that are a blend of 15+ varietals and apparently you don't know what you'll get because people just plant randomly in that plot so it always changes.
We came on a rainy Sunday and had the place pretty much to ourselves. You drive up through the vines to a beautiful ranch style building. Inside is an extensive foyer with the bottle lined wall behind a counter. We were greeted warmly and welcomed to sit anywhere. We picked the lovely cushy couches beside the warm fireplace inset to a beautiful white brick wall. The wines were delicious, the pours were a bit light, and the staff were exceptionally knowledgeable and honest about the wines. We loved the intimate feeling of the winery and the staffs ability to meet guests with the information level and vibe they wanted.
Service with Alicia was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and she was hospitable. Wine was great, I prefer the white Sauvignon & Chardonay
We weren't expecting much of a "wow" experience after reading some of the reviews prior to our visit. We came to Girard towards the end of the day and it was exactly what we needed. It's a cozy place with minimal excitement. Surprisingly, it was one of our more enjoyable experiences and possibly because we were ready to decompress and be in some ac on a comfortable couch. Josh was awesome! He was friendly, informative and personable. Their Mixed Blacks red blend is definitely unique, my spouse and I kept talking about that wine throughout the duration of our trip. Our only regret was not ordering wines to ship home.
Girard was great but none so great as our taster, Josh. If he doesn't get a new job soon, he will probably become a cat breeder. We love him as he seems to be a mini-cooper driving asset to any brand. 10/10 would hire for any person-facing company.
My family visited Girard Winery earlier this year for their "Cabernet Comparison" tasting. The beautiful property is located in Calistoga just north-west of St. Helena. They have a long covered porch area with many tables bordering the main building. Inside the building, to the left and to the right, there are two indoor tasting room with a few sofas and couches. They are kid-friendly and dog-friendly (dogs only allowed at the outdoor tasting tables). On the menu that day was a comparison of their 2019 Rutherford, 2018 Howell Mountain, Atlas Peak and Mountain Cuvee. A delicately plated charcuterie board of meats and cheeses was also included with the tasting to complement each glass. I was also able to try a splash of their Calistoga Cab as well. Each glass poured came with a wealth of information from our host about the region, the grapes, and what we may experience on the nose and palate. We ended up joining their wine club that day too! Nicolle, who manages the wine club, has been super responsive to my emails about scheduling tastings and wine availability. Recently, we went back for another Cabernet Comparison Tasting and this time tried their Timeless Tasting. Nici was our host and provided amazing service! For the Cabs they had same selection as earlier in the year but they also added a 2016 Rutherford to the tasting so we could taste the difference between the vintages. I've always enjoyed the 2016 vintage so this was a treat. It was amazing and I bought a bottle to take home. The Timeless Tastings included a 2021 Chardonnay, 2018 Grenache, Calistoga Cab, and a 2019 Malbec. All of these were great and paired perfectly with the cheese and meats provided. I love that produce so many AVA-specific cabernets! Rutherford and Howell Mountain are some of my favorite regions for wines. You get the best of both worlds here at Girard Winery - They make so many mountain fruit and valley floor wines. It's nice to be able to compare the two side by side and really experience the difference in regions. Everyone we interacted with at the winery were welcoming, friendly, and so knowledgable! If you haven't visited Girard Winery, I recommend stopping for a tasting!
Come to Girard for tasty and unique varietals served in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We went here for the Calistoga Passport series and had a very lovely time. Not only did we try the winter tasting menu, but we requested to try a few off-menu items as well. The friendly staff obliged. My recommendations are the 2021 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay, which tasted like butterscotch, and the 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet franc. I loved getting to taste wine you don't see very often at other wineries, including an old vine valdiguie.
This was my FIRST time to San Francisco and to Napa Valley so I was really excited about planning my itinerary. With that being said, I needed to be very intentional with my winery selections. After doing my research, I knew Girard Winery had to be on my list. First off, I went in December and it was rainy the day I went. However; the views at Girard are still STUNNING. You can see the hills and mountains from the outdoor patio. If you can, try to snag an outdoor seat. Even though that day was chillier, the server was still accommodating and allowed us to have our tasting outside! Felt like we had our own private wine tasting to enjoy the scenary outdoors. The winter selection included a blend of reds/white and they all tasted great. The wine was fantastic too AND there was a 2-for-1 tasting deal!!! What a win-win! Would highly recommend!

I've been a member of the Adair Family Wines membership for years through Clos Pegase, and one of the best perks is that your membership gives you access to several sister wineries, including Girard, Viansa, B.R. Cohn, Judd's Hill, and Clos Pegase. We decided it was finally time to visit Girard, and I'm so glad we did! The winery is beautiful, and we chose to enjoy our tasting on the gorgeous outdoor porch. It was such a relaxing setting with comfortable seating and a wonderful wine country atmosphere. That said, the interior is just as inviting--modern, elegant, and a place you could easily spend an afternoon. Diane took care of us during our tasting, and she was absolutely fantastic. She was knowledgeable, welcoming, and generous with her pours. Honestly, I couldn't even pick a favorite wine because every one she poured was delicious. She made the tasting fun, informative, and never rushed. We also ordered the cheese board, and it paired perfectly with the wines. It had a wonderful assortment of cheeses and accompaniments, and every bite complemented the tasting beautifully. If you're looking for a relaxed, welcoming winery with excellent wines, beautiful surroundings, and outstanding hospitality, I highly recommend Girard Winery. We'll definitely be back! read more

Girard is one of a few wineries located in the Calistoga area of Napa Valley that offers a great experience to join wine, especially when the weather is sunny, and there are blue skies outside. They have plenty of outdoor seating on their porch and on the front lawn facing their vineyard that stretches all around the property. We were fortunate to have the winery not be as crowded when we went in May as the peak season doesn't start until June and runs busy through at least September. The vineyards are beautiful with the mountainous terrain in the backdrop. The weather was gorgeous when we went to Girard for our scheduled tasting that we reserved online at 10:30 AM. Everyone that interacted with us at Girard was amicable and professional during our tasting, starting us off with glasses of rose wine, which was quite refreshing and a good palate cleanser to begin. Once we were seated at our table outside, our wine ambassador provided us with a nice charcuterie plate, which was part of the tasting. The dish comprised some lovely proscuito, salami, soft and hard cheeses, grapes, and dried apricots. Additionally, they provided us with a couple of chocolate, which we hoped we could save towards the end of the tasting. However, the temperatures rose pretty quickly in the valley, so they were a little melted -- we still enjoyed them with forks! Our Elevated Tasting started with a 2019 GSM (Grenache, Syrah, Montrachet, I believe is the acronym), which was quite good -- a little tart and fruitiness as it sat on the palate. My favorite of the four wines Girard served for our primary tasting was the delicious 2018 Old Vine Valdiguies. I made sure I could have a little refill of that one and picked up a bottle to bring back home to South Florida. The other two samplings were delicious between the 2019 Charbono and the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon. Like other wineries where you can reserve a tasting, they offer forms to order wines to ship back home and join their mailing list -- designed and printed on lovely stationery. If you find yourself in Calistoga or nearby in one of the surrounding towns in Napa Valley, Girard should be on your list of wineries to visit and enjoy a tasting. read more

It's a small winery at a hidden part of Calistoga, we took advantage of the 2 for 1 special. The wine itself were just ok IMO but your taste may differ. The interior had an open contemporary layout, the outdoor patio was where the tasting occurred. Although not spectacular, the view was serene and peaceful. Our host Kendall was very efficient and did an admirable job of entertaining multiple parties on her own. Overall we still prefer the wines from its sister winery Clos Pegase across the street, nonetheless we got some petite sirah to go. read more
All the wines taste good from the white to reds. Staff was very nice, friendly & accommodating even to kids. The waitress brought out some crayons & coloring sheet to my niece. They allowed my dog to stay too The weather was nice so we had a good outdoor experience. If you plan to go wine tasting, this winery is not bad but I do want to point out if you get hungry, either bring food or eat a lot before visiting wineries b/c most of them do not serve meals. read more

I don't do reviews often, but we had an amazing experience at Girard Winery and I had to tell our story. We chose to sit out on the gorgeous outdoor patio and we ordered the caviar tasting and it was worth every penny! The tasting opened with the Sparkling Brut Rose which was light and refreshing in the warm midday breeze. The caviar, crème fraîche, and olive oil potato chips complemented every sip. Our attentive server Jackson gave us a pour of the Viognier, which was not part of the tasting menu, and it was definitely one of the more memorable wines we tried. The wine had tropical notes of pineapple, but was also surprisingly creamy. I could imagine pairing it with a coconut milk poached white fish to accentuate the tropical flavors. The Chardonnay was fantastic as well. The GSM and the Grenache were also quite tasty, but a sample pour of the Howell Mtn. Cabernet blew our minds. A wonderful way to spend the day- and Amanda even checked in on us to make sure we were well taken care of. We will definitely be back! read more

Went on a rainy Friday which meant the foot traffic was gonna be very minimal--which I hoped for & added to the intimate, personal experience. Loved that our Tasting came with charcuterie bites to accompany each wine. Thanks to Nikki, who was a delight, along with her knowledge, guided us to all the notes & expected finishes to each Tasting. My husband and I got our privacy but at the same time Nikki knew when to chime in. We loved it! read more
Our Girard tasting was enjoyable but probably not our favorite. The winery facility is beautiful and the staff were very nice and friendly. But they, like so many places right now, seemed a little understaffed. And the staff that was there were fairly new. We really enjoyed the wines. We completely understand the challenges that so many wineries are facing right now and will be happy to go back and try it again in our next visit to Napa. read more
Girard was such a pleasant surprise to our visit in Calistoga. The final winery we visited in Calistoga and not knowing much about them we didn't know what to expect. The grounds were beautiful, and it was nice to sit out on the porch for our tasting. We loved that they had a small meat and cheese board to pair with our tastings. They are dog friendly and doggos can be out on the porch as well. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable! read more

Yum! Wines are amazing, every single one. I've never had one I didn't love and their new winery in Calistoga is simply beautiful. (Yes this draft has been pending a while ) Upon walking in we were offered a glass of bubbles and our choice of seating. The new tasting room is beautiful inside and out. The deck overlooks the vineyard and you really couldn't find a bad spot. The deck feel cool on a warm day and we had an absolute blast. The server offered many suggestions for wine and dinner in Napa that night. She was friendly, funny, and personable. (Wish I could remember her name!) One of our favorite wineries. This winery is so beautiful and the staff was so nice. I made a reservation for a group of 4 on a Saturday and we had such a great time, the wines were great and they did a great job pairing the wines with cheese and meat. read more
Came here on a warm day! Girard has wonderful wine. I've been to their tasting room in town a few years ago. NV Brut Rose. Amazing! It hit the spot on this warm day! Our server was excellent. We didnt do a taste here but we enjoyed a whole bottle for a small party of 5! Reservations made during Covid. Because the winery wasnt busy, there was a bit of a VIP feel. We got alot attention from the server. The bubbly was simply refreshing! We even had a chance to try the grapes on the vine! Smoked grapes due to recent fire so they are not picking them. Definitely a place to enjoy wine and relax with beautiful friends! read more

Visited Girard for a girls weekend. Weather was amazing and service was even better! We arrived around 1pm and it was pretty empty so it felt like hanging out in a friend's backyard. Even when more people arrived later, it felt pretty intimate and relaxing. Will definitely return for the experience, and the amazing wine tasting options! Still thinking about the Chardonnay read more

I had an AMAZING tasting at Girard with Anton. This new tasting room is fantastic and so cozy, especially on a rainy day like when we went. Anton was so sweet and let us sit in the cozy fire room. We started off with some Brut Rose' and it was to die for! Very rich and creamy but not so much as to over whelm the palette. After that Anton took us through an entire flight and gave us a lot of facts, and fun stories and analogies a long the way! Not to mention an extra pour of his favorite wine, that by nature we had to take a few bottles home with us! (Artistry, PHENOMENAL) He let us know of different case specials and all about the wonderful club options that we might just be back to sign up for! The wine was fantastic and so was the cheese board!!! Over all it was a memorable tasting and I will be sending my friends who visit over to Anton, he really amplified our experience at Girard and made it that much more special when comparing to the other wineries we visited that day. read more

Hands down favorite winery!! Born and raised in Napa, CA and I've been to my share of vineyards having grown up in the industry. This is the most peaceful relaxing setting. Off the beaten road if you will. Not noisy compared to other wineries in the area off of highway 29 and an amazing view of vineyards all around. The wines are mostly reds, which are my favorites. I became a member after my first visit because I fell in love with the atmosphere, the workers, and the wine!!! Ugh I love how Kendal, Josh and Nicolle make sure to say hello every visit and remember I get a cheese board without meat for my fiancé and I. It's the little touches like this that have me bringing my friends and family back here time and time again read more
