I visited Backstage Winery as part of a wine tour for a graduation celebration. We visited 3 wineries total and Backstage wines were the best of all 3. My favorites of the tasting were the Rose, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. I am typically a cab lover and it was good, don't get me wrong but during this tasting I fell in love with the Pinot Noir. I recently visited Backstage Winery to celebrate my 30th birthday with a group of friends and family. We had made a reservation through a third-party service, and all guests had paid in advance. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by the behavior of an individual named Richard Lowitz, who presented himself as the manager and owner of the winery. Upon our arrival, while we were enjoying a light lunch in our cars, Mr. Lowitz approached us in a confrontational manner, ordering us to leave the premises immediately. Despite our calm explanation that we had a reservation and proof of payment, he dismissed us outright, claiming we were scammed. His tone was disrespectful and belittling. After several minutes of distressing interactions, it became clear that Mr. Lowitz had made an error regarding our reservation. Although he eventually acknowledged our booking, the initial confrontation and his aggressive demeanor left a negative impression. Instead of following through with the reservation, we left and went to a wonderful winery a few minutes away. Rather than apologizing, Mr. Lowitz confronted my friends and family begging that we don't leave poor reviews. I want to commend Backstage Winery for taking appropriate action by terminating Mr. Lowitz's employment following this incident. However, I feel it is important for potential visitors to be aware of the treatment my friends/family and I received. It is my hope that the winery will ensure better training and management practices in the future to prevent similar situations from occurring. read more

Came here for a bachelorette party, we had a reservation and were seated right away! The sommelier educated us on all of the wines and made our tasting fun!! The wines were very good and we enjoyed the experience. We were sat in a back room so it felt private which was nice! The only thing I would change is the pace of the tasting, it was pretty slow and we had to push back a reservation that we had later in the day. It was pushing about an hour and a half and ended up being almost 2 hours... Other than that great experience! read more

Best choice for large groups! I did a large group wine tasting at Backstage winery to celebrate my birthday and had an amazing experience. It was hard to find a winery in Napa that met all my requirements such as an evening tasting and large group (15 people) without hefty add-on fees. I was able to easily book my event online and Olivia was really responsive to all my questions and help me make my birthday vision come true! I thought I would have to compromise on the wine or the service or the venue since this all seemed too good to be true. But the tasting experience blew me away further. The wine was fantastic and our wine specialist was so knowledgeable and sweet! He made our experience very enjoyable. The venue is also absolutely stunning. We tasted the finest wines surrounded by an expansive vineyard and beautiful architectural structures that made the best backdrops for all our photos. He makes 8 or 9 different cabs showcasing different AVAs (american viticultural Areas) of Napa. Love them all buy My fav is the coombsville cab. This used to be Mario Andretti's Vineyard, which was built in 84 and the pera family took over in 2020. Definitely put it on your list! They love repeat customers they have wine club and can host private events. Very often, Angelo or his daughter Olivia , personally host, the tastings. This place has such a beautiful and authentic vibe. They offered two experiences, one for $45 and another for $75. Napa can be overwhelming with crowds and high demand, but after visiting multiple wineries, this one stood out as my favorite. It was peaceful, and we were able to walk in without any hassle. The service was excellent, and our tour guide, Todd Rickhoff, was incredibly knowledgeable and made the experience enjoyable rather than just focused on sales. Had a wonderful experience when we visited Backstage a few weeks ago...Gabriel was so fun to listen to, we sat outside under the shade of the trees, warm breeze going through and just a lovely group experience chatting, sipping and enjoying our time together. Backstage was also the only winery flexible with us wanting to bring our own charcuterie....everyone else we called did not allow it. That sort of flexibility and that we could book on Tock and change our final count up until 2 hours before our reservation time made this winery exceptional. The staff is so nice and personable. They take the time to tell you about their wines. Their Pinot is super approachbale and easy to drink, slightly sweet and all their Cabernets are delicious, bold, oaky. The courtyard and architecture of the winery is very romantic. We had the privilege of hosting an event at Backstage in August 2023, and it was a complete hit. Everything from the wine to the staff going above and beyond again and again made this such an unforgettable evening for us and our guests. If we could give 10 stars, we would. We can't thank Olivia and Angelo enough for the amount of care they put into hosting us. They were so welcoming and accommodating to our every ask, allowing us to use the entire property however we envisioned. They helped us test and order the perfect types and amounts of wine ahead of time so that the evening us was a total breeze. Even a few nights ago, nine months after the event, a friend brought up how wonderful that night was and how delicious the wine was. Amazing service and ambiance!! When you walk into this winery, it feels like Italy! Scott, the manager, was incredible!! He took us on an ATV tour through the vineyards and explained the different grapes and wine making process used in their winery. This is a very informative tour and personalized! They serve 5 tastings with a delicious charcuterie board picnic style during the tour and with a view of Napa River and the vineyard! Wish I could give more than 5 stars. My girlfriend and I had a weekend in Napa and this was by far our favorite stop and the highlight of the weekend! To begin the property is beautiful and comfortable, and the wine is fantastic. However there are other spots in Napa with great wine and views. The difference here was the incredibly hospitality! Jiana and Todd made us feel at home and provided excellent information while touring us around the property! Overall a must go! Last thing, compared to some of the more corporate wineries that try to churn you in and out, Backstage encourages savoring the time and wants you to walk around and explore the property.
