True gem in the Napa Valley! Small batch, family owned winery. Outstanding wine , outdoor patio and hospitality! Complex deliciously aged Cabernet Savingnon. Bonus, All of angelos wines are a delight. Sav blanc and Chardonnay are crisp. His russian river pinot noir and Zinfandel are a delight. The real star of the show is the Cabernet. He makes 8 or 9 different cabs showcasing different AVAs (american viticultural Areas) of Napa. Love them all buy My fav is the coombsville cab. This used to be Mario Andretti's Vineyard, which was built in 84 and the pera family took over in 2020. Definitely put it on your list! They love repeat customers they have wine club and can host private events. Very often, Angelo or his daughter Olivia , personally host, the tastings. They put their heart and soul into the wine and hospitality & it shows. You will not be disappointed!

The final stop on our wine tour and what a finish! Gabriel was knowledgeable and entertaining. The views were breathtaking and the wine was one of our favorites on the tour! We will be back!

This place has such a beautiful and authentic vibe. They offered two experiences, one for $45 and another for $75. Napa can be overwhelming with crowds and high demand, but after visiting multiple wineries, this one stood out as my favorite. It was peaceful, and we were able to walk in without any hassle. The service was excellent, and our tour guide, Todd Rickhoff, was incredibly knowledgeable and made the experience enjoyable rather than just focused on sales. He shared a lot about wine pairing, which helped us discover our favorite. The atmosphere was quiet and uncrowded--truly a hidden gem.

Had a wonderful experience when we visited Backstage a few weeks ago...Gabriel was so fun to listen to, we sat outside under the shade of the trees, warm breeze going through and just a lovely group experience chatting, sipping and enjoying our time together. Backstage was also the only winery flexible with us wanting to bring our own charcuterie....everyone else we called did not allow it. That sort of flexibility and that we could book on Tock and change our final count up until 2 hours before our reservation time made this winery exceptional. The showtime cab is fabulous too...we left with many bottles but even more wonderful were our memories. Thank you Gabriel for a fabulous wine tasting experience.

    The entrance

Amazing!! Service was great and love the Italian feel. Would definitely recommend!! Has a nice family feel compared to some commercial wineries in the area.

We came to this winery as a walk-in and our hostess Ashley was amazing! It's great for kids in the backyard and quite romantic! The wine selection is great and we even bought a bottle. Ask for Ashley. She will hook you up! My little Izzy (2 1/2 year old) was having a great time running around in the backyard area with the lovely view.

Wonderful tasting for wine trolly group! Beautiful view-we loved the pinot noir! We went on a Monday, not crowded at all.

What a beautiful winery. Very picturesque. Todd was amazing! Very knowledgeable and entertaining. We stayed longer because of him! Wine was delicious. Went home with a few bottles!

We had the privilege of hosting an event at Backstage in August 2023, and it was a complete hit. Everything from the wine to the staff going above and beyond again and again made this such an unforgettable evening for us and our guests. If we could give 10 stars, we would. We can't thank Olivia and Angelo enough for the amount of care they put into hosting us. They were so welcoming and accommodating to our every ask, allowing us to use the entire property however we envisioned. They helped us test and order the perfect types and amounts of wine ahead of time so that the evening us was a total breeze. Even a few nights ago, nine months after the event, a friend brought up how wonderful that night was and how delicious the wine was. We can't wait to return this summer to do another tasting at Backstage and encourage anyone who is looking at hosting event or doing a wine tasting to check them out, you won't regret it!

The ambiance and wines are top notch. Our server was friendly and attentive. I wish I got her name. We had to take some wine home. This will be added to our future Napa Vacay Must stops.

But dog friendly. Quality/Quantity - I had a hard time with the website making my appointment, it's a user issue as I am just not tech savvy. So I called and someone actually answered the phone and made my appointment for me, THANK you! We arrived 15 mins early, so we hung out in the lobby reading all the history, etc. Then Skip took us to the best view overlooking the vineyard for our tasting; see pictures! We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Close to main Downtown Napa, but far enough away for privacy and a feeling of being far away. Appointment only, so very private and customer focused. Typically no more than 3 parties at a time. Today was considered a very busy day as there were 4 parties including us, lol. Gated private estate. 200 acres. Plenty of parking, especially since hosting only 3 guests at a time. Events - See their website. Well behaved dogs are allowed outdoors. Service - Skip is a history buff and we both talked for hours... After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing! And he gave me a glass with a generous splash and let us walk the property alone after they left! So welcoming and trusting. Price - Depends on which tasting and what you buy; see their website for prices. Tastings range from $50 to $100 per person. One free designated driver allowed. Tasting fees waived with wine equivalent purchases. Hike tours $75 per person ($60 for club members). See their website for more information. Owner Comment - Congrats on your family's success since 1939 and congrats to this winery's success since 1992.

Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! Secondly, we were very impressed with how the food/wine was locally sourced. It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant!
