A cute and elegant winery in Napa that truly feels like a hidden gem. One thing that really stood out is that it stays open later than many other wineries in the area, which makes it a great option if you want a more relaxed and flexible visit. I would recommend making a reservation, but if you are walking in, it is still a lovely spot to stop by for a glass or even a bottle or two. You can enjoy the space indoors, outdoors, or simply walk around and take in the atmosphere. It is also easy to find, easy to park, and easy to enjoy. The service was great, and the sommelier was especially helpful in guiding us through the tasting options and helping choose a wine. We ended up getting a bottle of the Natural Wine Chardonnay, which was lovely. Honestly, I wish we had bought more. Stopped in to Ashes & Diamonds on a family trip this weekend. Got a beautiful March Napa day which was pleasantly warm but cool in the shade. We had reserved the A&D Wine + Cheese tasting and were promptly sat with an area for the kids to run around. Wonderful to allow our pup to enjoy as well! Our servers were great with wonderful descriptions of each wine we tasted. They were quick and attentive without making us feel rushed. Allowed us to take our times tasting and enjoying the food and wine. The wine was EXCELLENT!!! I really enjoyed their V.1 and Napa Valley Cab but too be honest ALL were spectacular. Did take a V.1 to go because it was too good to pass up. Also the food was delicious too! They have a beautiful pizza oven out in the back and served one of the best sourdough focaccia breads I've ever had! Salty and crisp outside with fluffy, chewy, bouncy inside. We all enjoyed their quince jam and cultured butter spread on top. The goat Gouda was probably my favorite but all 3 cheeses paired well with the wines. One thing that holds true for the most part about these wineries is they all have huge pieces of land they're on, and plenty of space. You never feel crowded or cramped. We got sat inside right away at a nice corner area for 2 looking out to their property/vines. Our server was awesome, very knowledgeable. We had 4 wines to taste, and all were good. They also gave us some cheese & crackers, and fresh focaccia bread with a sea salt butter, and a jam, to me that tasted like strawberry, but I believe was fig. The cheese, bread, butter, jam were all really quality stuff. My favorite wine was the first red we tried, 2nd wine of the 4 overall. It was the cab Sauvignon 2023. It was super smooth and for my style not as much after bite, which I like that consistency from start to finish without as much change. I'd come here again for sure to taste. read more

Ashes & Diamonds is an amazing winery and unique facility with a mid century modern setup. The owner we were told is from Palm Springs and wanted to bring his Palm Springs look to a Napa Valley winery. We made a tasting reservation in advance and arrived a few minutes prior to our appointment and were warmly greeted by the winery host staff. The winery has a number of different tasting options available at different price points. We opted for the one with the wine flight and cheese and it was a great choice! The wines were all really good and we chose to take a bottle of Rose back home with us. My friend recommended this place to me (he is a regular / member) so I was excited to try it as our 3rd spot on a marathon of wineries day for lunch! The food was INCREDIBLE and the wine pairing was great. We had a mushroom and roast chicken dish that I dream about! The people we interacted with there were lovely and kind - they were attentive on pacing out our meal and wine. The space was gorgeous and cozy, our only more modern aesthetic stop that day - we had lovely weather and sat outdoors on their shaded patio. What a WONDERFUL find on our trip to Napa! Special shoutout to Natalie who made our tasting a memorable experience. We were coming to celebrate an engagement and Natalie's energy was over the top while sharing lovely facts about the wines. The interior tasting room is colorful, hip, and "jazzy". I found it to be so comfortable compared to outdoor tastings where you're typically baking in the sun. We opted for the Wines and Cheese which is $75/pp. This was very fair for the fantastic Point Reyes cheese, homemade focaccia, and the wines. I'm typically not a red wine enjoyer, but these were served at a perfect temperature without that classic bitterness. A decent wine tasting experience with scenic views. There is a decent amount of parking at the location. There is some indoor seating, but the majority is outdoors. They have umbrellas to provide shade, but most of the tables had at least a chair or two in the sun. Some of the staff were more enthusiastic about the wines that we were tasting than others. The service was definitely really good for other tables, but not so much for us. The majority of what I learned about the wines was from listening in on what was being told to other tables. I also learned from another table that they usually have house-made focaccia, but the oven was not working while we were there. The wines that we had were decent. Some of the other tables were given the option to swap out some of the wines if they didn't want as many reds, but we were not. It was still a fun experience overall, but I wouldn't necessarily feel the need to go back unless someone else wanted to go. read more

This was by far my favorite winery of the trip. It doesn't look like any other winery in Napa -- the design is modern, sleek, and such a vibe. I enjoyed every single second being there. The wine was amazing, and the staff was just as great -- welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive. The cheeseboard and bread are absolutely to die for. I definitely recommend paying a little extra to add that on because it truly elevates the experience. We were soooo excited for this spot because we haven't gone to a wine spot together and let me tell you, we were shook by the service. They were degrading us because we didn't know that much about wine. It was our first conversation as well like we haven't even started the experience yet. We were in the region off season and popped in after the host at a previous tasting recommended this as our next stop. They had space to squeeze the two of us in for a tasting. We opted for the A&D wines & Cheese tasting. Our guide through the tasting explained the winery and its offerings. He answered our questions and kept things moving at a comfortable pace. The décor felt retro to me, kind of 1960s. A tray of local cheeses, sourdough focaccia, butter and quince preserve was brought out to accompany our wines. Our first taste was their NV Crémant, a sparkling, refreshing start to our tour of tastes. I think this was our favorite though we did also enjoy 2023 Rosa, 2021 Cabernet Franc, 2022 Bates Ranch Mountain Cuvée and their 2022 Grand Vin. The cheeses were delicious. I have a goat cheese allergy, so my husband enjoyed that selection. The focaccia had the nice tang of sourdough with a bit of salt on the crust. The cultured butter was delicious and went well with the quince. We ended up purchasing a few bottles of the Crémant to take home. What an overall lovely experience. read more

My friends invited me to one of their exclusive event they hosted for Wine and Wellness. I was honored to be her plus one for this vineyard. It was my first time visiting this Vineyard and I heard great things about this place. I was trying to purchase the rosé that they have but unfortunately they were sold out for a while. We headed to the event a little bit late so we weren't able to participate in the wellness part but we really enjoy the small bites that they provided. The weather was perfect for the day. It was a little bit windy and sunny but we were able to sit under the shades, enjoying our tasting. I'm a big fan of their rosé even though I'm more of the red wine person. The website says it includes the snacks above as long as you buy a bottle of wine. For the bottle, we asked our sommelier / wine steward what he would recommend to pair with the food. He suggested the rose or the cab franc. We tasted both and settled on the cab franc. It was paired well with the cheeses and dip. Plus, I'm more of a red wine girls anyways, so I was happy with our selection. One in our group wanted take home a bottle, so he tried the Mountain Cuvee. I took a sip and actually enjoyed this one more. But I tend to like more bold, full bodied reds. He ended up purchasing it. The grounds are cute. And the decor kinda modern. I didn't wander around much to explore. We sat outside, so were able to enjoy the nice weather. I could see inside the main building, so saw the yellow and white motif that seems too dominate the winery. Glad I was able to visit a new spot. We absolutely loved our time here, we even ended up signing up to be wine club members. It was very unique wines which we were craving after a weekend of a ton of Pinots and acidic Cabs. We loved the 70's style decor and yes while most is outdoor, we luckily had a nice shady spot. Our tasting guide (Ryan?) was super knowledgable and had great banter, giving us many recommendations for the area as well. We opted for the cheese and bread tasting and it was well worth the additional cost - the butter, bread, and cheeses were some of the best I've ever had (especially at a winery) - I repeat, DO NOT skip out on the butter and bread. We loved that all the wines were easy on the palette, none were too acidic or tannic forward. We loved the Chenin blanc and the last bottle on the tasting (red at $105). Tasted three wines, a white blend, dark Rosé, and a cab Franc. Steel barrel aged. Not a fan, heavy on the tannins. So if you like bitter wine, then give this a try. But honestly it was one of the sommelier that was loud and dishing out rude comments about customers. I always love the wine here and brought a friend in hopes that he'd love it too. I had been thinking about joining the membership so was also considering doing so while I was there. Unfortunately we got a very chilly reception from the woman who eventually greeted us, and it felt like we were inconveniencing the staff. At first I thought maybe they just weren't staffed up to handle walk ins well, but the couple who sat next to us were also walk ins and got great service - explanations of the different tasting options, questions about what they liked, extra or different pours from the menu, etc. We did end up with a different host who was friendlier, but it still wasn't the welcoming experience I was expecting, and I opted not to join at this time because it didn't make me want to go back. I still like the wine, but A&D is also about vibes, and in this case the vibes were not great. I've had better experiences there in the past so hopefully just an off day. read more

We had the best time at Ashes and Diamonds the wine tasting was wonderful and the food pairing exceptional. The duck confit takes over 60 hours from marinade to slow cook to 500 degrees crispy skin. Their white wine this year was wonderful. Their rose' was another we loved, we also bought the Cab Franc their wines are hard to match! Today we had the opportunity to taste the latest releases from Ashes & Diamonds, and were completely taken back, as the wines were nothing short of sensational. The lunch pairing menu was refreshingly Hungarian inspired dishes and paired well with most of the wine. The Rutherford cabernet was a personal favorite, sourcing fruits from the famed George the III. Stylistically all the wines are refreshing and not overpowering, the experience is top notch. Underwhelming at best, overrated at worst. Ashes and Diamonds is aesthetic Instagram-bait for a slightly-younger crowd than the traditional Napa demographic of yesterdecade. Think mid-late 20-somethings who work in tech in the Bay Area. A tasting is also pricier than wineries in the area that make much more complex and interesting wine. I will give them credit for: * the cheese plate was really nice (a decent selection of cheeses, some almonds, and a surprisingly good bread) * our server was very nice but overworked * the architecture and decor is very aesthetic and a breath of fresh air to the more traditional "Napa winery look" Onto the bad: the wine, unfortunately. My group got the Grand Cuvee flight, which was approachable and inoffensive, but otherwise pretty meh. Not a lot of body, nuance, flavor development, etc. etc. The flavors generally just kind of... fell flat and tasted like average $20 Safeway wine. Of the four we tried, none of them made me think about wanting to take a bottle home. * 2015 Cab Franc * 2017 Grand Vin (IIRC this is a blend) - the favorite among the less wine-familiar in our group * 2018 Mountain Cuvee Bates Ranch Vineyard * 2018 Cab Sauvignon Mountain Peak Vineyard To be fair to them, I'm seeing a lot of reviews mention that the wine here is "delicate", so maybe they just didn't fit my flavor profile. For reference, I'm currently all about Pinot Noirs that are bright with red fruit, but have some darker blue fruit and light tannins lurking in the background. I usually appreciate a darker but fruit-forward wine, like a Cab Sauvignon - current favorite is Realm's The Tempest. Went there for a lunch tasting menu with some friends and enjoyed a nice outdoor spot on a beautiful day in the beautiful town of Napa. The space is very well designed and large for great views and a nice ambience. Sitting outside was spectacular and made the experience even more enjoyable. We shared salads which I ncluded, fresh corn, and greens, and were followed by the selection of meats, including duck, which was perfectly executed with appropriate sources, and other delicacies. Each course was accompanied with a glass of wine, starting with sparkling wine and moving to their robust red. This was our third and last winery of the day, and sadly it compared unfavorably with the prior ones we visited. This winery has a unique mid century modern vibe (I felt like we stepped onto a Brady Bunch set). The tasting price was on the high side, and unfortunately my group didn't find any of the wines enjoyable. They all lacked structure and personality. I understand this is a young winery but each wine was so bland and one-note. In addition, the service was terrible, with a major lack of hospitality. The timing in between each pour was long, and the descriptions of each wine were brusque and rushed. Our server literally gave us a 10 second spiel of each wine and rushed off. It also took forever to flag someone down for the check, even though were seated inside in plain view. The only bright spot was the cheese platter was nice, especially the bread (sourdough focaccia) offered. But we will not be returning. read more

Favorite stop while in Napa. The laid back and bright atmosphere partnered with fantastic wine and knowledgeable staff made this my top of three wineries for day. Mid century modern decor with comfortable tasting experience, as if relaxing in a living room amongst friends. Wines were stellar. Cab franc just as much of the star of show here as cab Sav. Wines were less alcohol content and brighter than other wineries which featured much richer, bolder Wines. The tasting experience in napa is quite serious, pretentious even but A&D brings wine expertise without this serious element. Our other tastings we were surrounded by patrons who would grill the sommeliers leading our tasting with deep questions reminiscent to when I was a med student/resident by my attending physicians. None of this at A&D as you taste in your own little area. One downside is that this is not going to feature picturesque views of vineyards as other vineyards possess. They do have a vineyard which I walked through (and is beautiful) but is small, flat and bordered by housing addition on east edge. With this being said, our experience here still featured more intimacy with the vineyards than our visits to two other larger vineyards in area. These other tastings we were brought to private rooms with group of 8 people and tasted Wines without any views of vineyards. In conclusion, highly recommend this place. Unique Napa spot with a 70s Austin Powers vibe. 3.5 stars Highlights: - 70s Palm Springs vibe in the architecture, decor, and furniture was very cool.
