    Wine tasting

One of the cutest homes turned into a wine tasting space. Loved that they had several different spaces to choose from. We came in early November before the lockdown and it was a super cute spot near downtown Napa. We opted for the study to do our tasting, the only bad thing was that it was next to the bathroom so people kept walking past us, some were unmasked. One of our friends is a sommelier so we tried the beginners tasting and she got the advanced one. Each one came with 5 wines from Chardonnay's to cabs. I do have to say the Chardonnay and one of the cabs were my faves. I'm not an expert with wine tasting but majority of the ones here are well known for their reds. The one helping us with the tasting, I forget his name but was super nice and personable ! Loved the interior decorations too! Will definitely be back in the future!

Back of new favorite wine...clever label!

Okay...I first tried the orange label cab sav about 8 months ago. I found it in a small shop in Sunriver Oregon and loved the label...I know a great indicator of which wine is good... Fast forward to today and I'm on a two week solo road trip and veered off to the right at the split in the 80 freeway and took the Napa transition...as I looked as traffic heading the opposite direction I decided to stay in Napa for some wine tasting. Well Educated Guess was the second or third place to show up and I remembered how much I loved their wine. Manny, thank you so much for your hospitality. The service was fantastic as well as the recommendations on wine and photographs, sorry but the food place disappointed. I really wanted to like it but not so much...maybe it's covid, IDK. Regardless I am glad I stopped at this quaint location. Your wine is amazing and I look forward to visiting again!

Two wineries in one? I have whiplash just thinking about it, but Roots Run Deep Winery and Jamieson Ranch Vineyards have proven two wineries can operate out of the same location and still provide sumptuous varietals at an affordable price point. I came with friends who were intrigued with the location of Jamieson Ranch, which resides in an unassuming area where Southern Napa and American Canyon converge, directly off of Highway 29 and is just a few miles from Interstate 80, not even realizing that Roots Run Deep and Jamieson Ranch shared the same tasting room. In the shadow of the Atlas Ridge and across the street from the Chardonnay Golf Course, Roots Run Deep is living up to its name as a working man's winery with humble beginnings. Here, they've succeed in their goal of producing wines that can compete with the big boys who sell their wines at a much higher price point but offer the exact same aromatic flavor composition and style of varietals that any wine lover can appreciate and not have to drive all the way up Highway 29 deep into the valley. They can get one of the best wine tastings in the region right here. I love the names of the labels here at Roots Run Deep Winery. They have a fun play on words including Educated Guess, Hypothesis, Higher Education and Bound and Determined. With that first label Educated Guess they want to show they are using knowledge, intuition, and years of experience to make the best possible decisions; however, at the end of the day, everything remains an "Educated Guess." With the flight they serve you get four samplings from the Educated Guess label and one from their Hypothesis label. The 2015-16 Carneros Chardonnay, 2016 Carneros Pinot Noir, 2015-16 Napa County Merlot, and their 2016 Napa County Cabernet Sauvignon. And from their Hypothesis, we tried the 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Our tasting room associate Sydney was so nice to us, she even poured an extra bottle from their Reserve Tasting: the 2014 The Ph.D. Cabernet Sauvignon. Each wine was well-structured with their own unique flavors of varying degrees of fruit, chocolate complimented with a nice oakey finish that provided a long aftertaste. Coupled with a gorgeous view of the vineyards it was an experience that could not be matched. Sydney, our tasting room associate, was very attentive and constantly filled our water glasses, as we carefully took our time as my group took look long sips and gazingly looked out on the verdana. It really easy to get there right off of Highway 12 with Napa Valley's interchange on the way to Interstate 80 and Fairfield. Reservations are not required but the place since Jamieson Ranch wine lovers are no doubt staking their claim out there on that patio each and every day. With great and attentive service, not to mention some mighty fine wines, Roots Run Deep Winery has tried to do all the guesswork for their customers and produce rich, yet balanced wines you can buy for the money! You better believe I will be back!

Our new Favorite and AMBER IS AMAZING!!! Amber has been our host the last couple of times we have been there and we became members because of her. Whether a table of 2 or 10 she has what it takes to make sure every person has a great time and learns a little about wine and what we are drinking. I mean.... They are called Educated Guess. They are off the beaten path but you don't want to miss out. The wines are AMAZING as well. Get there soon!

TONY TONY TONY! Ask for the most amazing wine guy Tony because he is the absolute sweetest most amazing dude here! He had amazing people skills, knew so much about the wine, and prioritizes your experience at this winery. I cannot say enough good things about this place! We had a phenomenal time and I WILL be back!

We had a reservation for their 5-wine tasting offered for those staying at the nearby Andaz Napa hotel. Our reservation was for 5pm but we were told it would be perfectly fine to stop by ahead of time as we expressed that we had another reservation for a restaurant at 5:30pm. We arrived at the tasting house (yes, it's an office house) at about 4:45pm, expecting a rushed tasting but nobody was around the front to greet us. We waited outside for a few minutes then we poked our heads inside and one of the staff members grabed the attention of the server and they confirmed our appointment on their tablet. We walked back outside with the server and were sat on the couch directly in front, by now its about 4:55pm. We sit a full 15 minutes longer, ten minutes into our tasting appointment time as other parties who arrived after us are sat and being served by both our server and the other staff member. We're then told they'll be right with us after the other team member noticed I'd pulled up walking directions to our next destination. Finally, the server who sat us approached us with the first wine but at this point, we had seen enough and decided it was best to simply cancel the reservation. When the server approached us, we expressed that it wouldn't be reasonable to do a five wine tasting in the 5 minutes of time we had left before we'd need to start walking to our next reservation. The server feigned an apology as she said she'd "hate to deliver a sub-standard tasting experience" then she contorted and gas-lit the situation, essentially pushing blame to us because we had another reservation to get to. She never acknowledged that she told us to arrive early or that she sat another couple who arrived well after us (and after the 5pm reservation time) and attended to them before even attempting to begin our tasting. In short, they disrespected our time, waisting about 35 minutes (about 20 if you're counting the exact time on the reservation). I want to emphasize again that we were told to come in early and that they would be able to accommodate our schedule (we were told this by the same server when I made the reservation). Show me another Napa tasting charging $40 a head that outright ignores their customers. They weren't even busy! I was thoroughly looking forward to this specific tasting and have long been a fan of the educated guess line.

Best place to start our Napa tour! Randy was our host and he explained each tasting in detail and answered all of our questions. If you're looking for a a place to make you feel at home and a quick walk from downtown, this is your place. You can taste in or outside. Beautiful art and decor in the inside, he gave us a tour. We celebrated our 10th anniversary here and it will always hold a special place in our heart.

I came in for a very last-minute impromptu date night and Amber got us in without an appointment and gave us stellar service! She was extremely knowledgeable about their wine and gave great recommendations for dinner!

This place was the cutest! It is not your typical Winery... It's located near the convenience of downtown Napa. A cute little house where hospitality truly shines. We went here the day after our wedding and our wine expert was amazing and made our stop here worth while. Our wine expert was truly knowledgeable and explained his wines in a very easy to understand way. We were seated in rocking chairs on the front lawn of this house which made it feel like we were just at home enjoying so good wine. This place is a must do when visiting Napa.

I had such a nice time here! I'm terrible with names, so I can't remember, but my pourer was so sweet and well informed! I don't know much about wine, but she did a wonderful job at educating me. The personal conversations we shared really went a long way. Thanks again!

But dog friendly. Quality/Quantity - I had a hard time with the website making my appointment, it's a user issue as I am just not tech savvy. So I called and someone actually answered the phone and made my appointment for me, THANK you! We arrived 15 mins early, so we hung out in the lobby reading all the history, etc. Then Skip took us to the best view overlooking the vineyard for our tasting; see pictures! We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Close to main Downtown Napa, but far enough away for privacy and a feeling of being far away. Appointment only, so very private and customer focused. Typically no more than 3 parties at a time. Today was considered a very busy day as there were 4 parties including us, lol. Gated private estate. 200 acres. Plenty of parking, especially since hosting only 3 guests at a time. Events - See their website. Well behaved dogs are allowed outdoors. Service - Skip is a history buff and we both talked for hours... After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing! And he gave me a glass with a generous splash and let us walk the property alone after they left! So welcoming and trusting. Price - Depends on which tasting and what you buy; see their website for prices. Tastings range from $50 to $100 per person. One free designated driver allowed. Tasting fees waived with wine equivalent purchases. Hike tours $75 per person ($60 for club members). See their website for more information. My husband and I were able to call ahead and schedule a very last-minute tasting, and from the very beginning, the hospitality was exceptional. Steve absolutely nailed it. He welcomed us warmly, shared thoughtful stories about the wines and the winery, and made the experience feel incredibly personal. The tasting room itself is beautiful and feels like a hidden gem in Napa. We especially loved learning about the wines and the woman winemaker behind Levendi. The tasting was stunning from start to finish. What truly sets Levendi apart, though, is the level of hospitality. Since our visit, I have referred many of my favorite clients to Levendi, and Steve consistently goes above and beyond for them. He bends over backwards to make sure my customers are taken care of, and every single person I've sent has come back raving about their experience. This is a winery if you're interested in the wine label itself not a vineyard tour. We are impressed by the wines and enjoyed almost all of them. The wines range from $25-75 which is not considered over the top in Napa. We enjoy Saxum wines ( $100 to $500) very very occasionally and I would consider that high end , so Vinoce is definitely not on the high end in terms of price nor overpriced for their wines. Fun fact: Our host mentioned that their wines are seen on the TV show series "succession" ... We enjoyed our tasting and especially loved the Pinot and Cabernet. The Sauvignon blanc was a surprise purchase for us because we tend to prefer reds. The tasting room is near the scenic river which is quite nice. I recommend Vinoce! Visit and enjoy

Our horseback riding reservation was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. We arrived on time with a group of five, but our ride was delayed approximately 30 minutes while staff waited for another reservation--a party of one--that arrived late. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have minded waiting. However, this was frustrating because during a previous visit, when our group was running late, we called ahead and were told there was absolutely no flexibility. Our ride was completely rescheduled because we were told the 1:00 p.m. ride was the last time slot of the day and they couldn't make other groups wait. It was disappointing to see that policy applied differently when it inconvenienced other guests instead. During the horseback ride itself, there was one staff member leading the group and another following behind. The guide in front shared the history of the winery, but despite riding near the front, I couldn't hear most of what she was saying. If guests are meant to enjoy the educational aspect of the tour, there needs to be a better way for everyone to hear. Additionally, it felt as though much of the staff's attention was focused on the solo rider in our group. They appeared to know her on a first-name basis, and whether they had a prior relationship or were simply trying to make sure she was comfortable, it left the rest of our group feeling overlooked. Unfortunately, the service issues continued during the wine tasting. Before we could begin, our wine consultant insisted that payment had not been made and stated he could not pour any wine until payment was collected. I had already paid in full and ultimately had to log into my bank account and show proof that the transaction had gone through before we could proceed. That was an awkward and unnecessary way to begin the tasting experience. The wines themselves were enjoyable but nothing particularly memorable. At the conclusion, our consultant simply ended the experience without offering a revisit of any of the wines we had tasted--a courtesy that many wineries provide and one we've come to expect during guided tastings. One final disappointment was the lack of any personal touches. I made this reservation months in advance for a birthday celebration and, after reading numerous positive reviews, was excited by the thoughtful details other guests described--such as personalized menus with guests' names at each place setting. Instead, we were given standard menus with no acknowledgment that we were celebrating a special occasion. While this may seem like a small detail, it's those thoughtful touches that often elevate a wine country experience and make guests feel valued. It was disappointing to see that level of hospitality missing, especially after booking so far in advance and reading such glowing reviews The property is beautiful, and the horses were wonderful and appeared well cared for, but the inconsistent customer service, lack of attention to guests, and overall rushed experience left us disappointed. Given the premium price of this experience, I expected much better hospitality and consistency. Unfortunately, I wouldn't choose to return or recommend it based on this visit.

In the downtown Napa area, this spot is really cute. Lots of IG worthy spots to take cute photos…read moreinside. My friends and I came here for the caviar tasting. They did champagne and caviar, but I don't drink, so it was really nice to have the caviar tasting option. They have a chocolate company inside as well, so you can do chocolate tastings or just buy some truffles à la carte. We did the old world caviar tasting which was $125, and you get a .5 oz of 3 types of caviar (I think), and it comes with blinis, crème fraiche, and some Torres chips. Eating the caviar alone will always be my fave, but the sides are a nice touch! Our host (whose name I forget, sorry) was amazing! She knew so much about the caviar, explained everything, and she explained info about the different champagnes to my friends too. The tasting started with bumps of each caviar and tastings of the champagnes with the caviar types. Then we got to eat and drink as we wanted. I think it's totally worth the cost and can't wait to come back for another tasting!

One of the most chic tasting rooms I've been to. So cute and aesthetic! I'd recommend to make a reservation, especially if you are planning to go on the weekend. Our experience was amazing! We did the caviar + wine tasting and the Cabernet + chocolate pairing. We loved it so much we bought few bottles and chocolate to share with friends. Can't wait to go back. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
