Fantastic experience. James Cole is a small family owned winery that offers the best of Napa Valley at a competitive price. Memberships start at only 2-3 bottles per release. Special thanks to Dustin for hosting!

Good to the last drop. The Marls.

Fantastic experience with an excellent tasting portfolio coupled with an extremely knowledgeable hostess. Last time I came it was part wine cellar, part tank room, part secret movie cave, but there is some work going on, so alas, it is closed. Nonetheless, it was a beautiful morning/early afternoon for an outdoor glass (or 2). Their rosé is crisp and bright and goes down almost too easy. I was pleasantly surprised by the Chardonnay. I'm not typically a chard fan, but this non-French oak one was a winner. Wine aside, Kate was a delightful hostess. Such expansive knowledge coupled with neat trivia and tidbits made it a unique opportunity that I'm glad I could be here for. Highly recommend the Marls, but you can't go wrong with anything here. Something for every palate. Cheers!

James Cole is hands down my favorite winery in Napa Valley. The wines are exceptional, and the tasting experience is always a pleasure. This small, family-owned vineyard has a welcoming charm, and trust me... you won't leave without a few bottles. It's just that good!

Absolutely excellent. Gustavo was an amazing host. Gave us a fabulous explanation of the wine and chocolate combo (definitely recommend) as well and the history behind the winery (please give this man a raise). We really enjoyed the company and the homey feel of the vineyard. Will be back for the intimate family feel. Thank you for having us!

This is my first yelp review as I find them to be typically of a negative nature.. I was recently on a trip to Napa with some dear friends. As we were driving to a scheduled tasting my husband saw the JamesCole sign. I was so excited (my son's name is James Cole) . We decided to stop by after our tasting to purchase some wine and merch.. YES... I am One of those moms. Long story short my son was taken to the emergency room and we were literally thousands of miles away in NAPA... We stopped at the vineyard and while at first the greeting was not welcoming, a very sweet blonde lady noticed this tearful mom and made a very stressful moment a bit less stressful. I ordered a bottle of wine a two coasters and headed to the airport.. the wine was amazing and the atmosphere was stunning. My husband and I are looking forward to a full experience on our next trip.

Beautiful small winery with some hits and misses during our wine tasting. Having the wine tasting inside the barn was unique and the decor was quite interesting with a Rolling Stones pinball machine inside for customers to play with. Still a young winery that I can't wait to see grow into something spectacular in the coming years! The staff was super nice and awesome!

Great time at James Cole Winery

Let me start by saying I'm not a "wino", but I do like excellent wines. I had the distinct pleasure of visiting James Cole Winery with some close friends and was amazed with the wine and top notch service. We had Jonathan serving us and he's a true professional. The property is on the Silverado Trail but if you're not paying attention you will drive right by it. Fortunately that a great thing, because most people will miss this gem. Lastly let me say the property is "Done Right". I can't wait to return for another great experience.

Shout out to Rosie for an amazing experience. Picture this: super bowl Sunday, quiet roads, we roll up past trefethen, and around to a charming set of buildings with beautiful patio, with seemingly only one car in the parking lot. We parked and check in with a very friendly wine expert- Rosie- and she tells us to sit anywhere- we choose comfy chairs partially protected from the sun (in February!). Birds are chirping and when we sit down another couple checks in and sits in another area of the patio, we still have great privacy. We got the Valentine's tasting with chocolate truffle pairing. The chocolate came in a charming velvet box. Rosie, part tasting specialist/part wine maker, comes by with a lovely complex tropical rosé. Loved learning fun facts about the winery and detailed descriptions of the wines and harvests. My favorite was the Privado, a light yet complex mouth feel. The umbral cab was also fantastic. Absolutely charming. There was bocce ball and seating areas for small groups- we could have really spent the day there and were sad to leave for our lunch reservation!

First time visited based on the high reviews & recommendations. It did not disappoint. The views were breathtaking. Beautiful greenery, trees and decor. Our sommelier did a great job, explained each wine including interesting facts about each one. He was very nice & professional. Downside is that with Covid they stopped serving food. But a charcuterie was available upon request. Now on to the best part, the wine. I gotta say the Malbec wine was soooo good, we ended up taking a bottle home. All the other red wines were perfect as well. This was a great experience & I highly recommend it.

This winery is a hidden gem. There are so many wineries in Napa that some of the smaller wineries get drowned out. Luckily, my man found this winery and made reservation. We had a pretty jam packed schedule but wine tasting was something we definitely wanted to do during our weekend in Napa. It was one of the best wine tasting experiences I have had, for both pre and post covid. Hands down, of one of the best until someone beats them out. Check in station was very organized. You have hand sanitizer on the check in table. In addition, they have an outdoor sink for washing and sanitizing. After check in, they have picnic/cabana areas for each reserved party. In each picnic area, you have a small table supplied with bottled water and hand sanitizer. We paid 30$ each for tasting of 4 wines. The tasting price was very reasonably priced, much better than other vineyards around the area. First wine was Rose, second was a red Mostros, third was Malbec, fourth was a Cab. We also got a fifth tasting on the house. The service was impeccable. The staff was just so friendly, personable and knowledgable. Sam was our first host and she was a great story teller. The gentleman with the beard was our second host, he was such an engaging host. Both were wonderful. I'm not a big wine person but hands down, great wine. The rose was smooth and crisp. It was so easy to drink, a little too easy to drink. We came on Saturday and decided to come back on Sunday, last round before the road and even got 4 bottles before we left. I highly recommend this place. It will not disappoint!

    Wine to go!

Great experience! They took us in on short notice during a very busy weekend! Loved the wines, reasonably priced and the grounds were beautiful. Sam was awesome!

We had a great experience at James Cole. It's super chill and has a nice vibe with both outdoor and indoor seating. Kyle was our host and he went above and beyond to make our experience worthy of a review. He's down to earth, knowledgeable and just a nice guy. We wanted to buy a couple of bottles (they will comp your tasting if you buy a bottle- not all wineries do that) and he let us have second tries to help us figure out what we wanted. If you like reds, this is the place to go. They were all very good but I ended up splurging on the 2010 which was a bonus tasting. We started with a rose that was also very good. This place is very unpretentious and it's clear that the people at James Cole just want you to relax and enjoy their wines.

I just love the design of their wine bottle and also the custom paper bags!

Everyone having wine chose the Signature Flight, which included one white and three reds. I appreciated the option to substitute a Sauvignon Blanc for the Chardonnay, a nice personal touch. Each wine was distinctive, balanced, and delicious in its own way. You could really tell the care and craftsmanship behind every pour. What really stood out was the hospitality. Our host was not only incredibly thoughtful but impressively knowledgeable. She explained where each wine's grapes were grown, described the flavor profiles we could expect, and added insights into how the terroir influenced the wine -- all without it ever feeling too technical or over our heads. Even better, our designated driver was offered iced tea, lemonade, or an Arnold Palmer, which I really appreciated. It's always a plus when tasting rooms consider the full group's experience, not just the drinkers. The vibe was so warm and relaxing, we ended up staying for over two hours. It felt less like a stop and more like a true experience. Definitely one of the highlights of our time in downtown Napa.

We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Close to main Downtown Napa, but far enough away for privacy and a feeling of being far away. Appointment only, so very private and customer focused. Typically no more than 3 parties at a time. Today was considered a very busy day as there were 4 parties including us, lol. Gated private estate. 200 acres. Plenty of parking, especially since hosting only 3 guests at a time. Events - See their website. Well behaved dogs are allowed outdoors. Service - Skip is a history buff and we both talked for hours... After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing! And he gave me a glass with a generous splash and let us walk the property alone after they left! So welcoming and trusting. Shortly after, her husband (and the winery's owner) Adam walks up with their daughter and asks us how we're doing. We continue to be starstruck. Service was wonderful. Seating was comfy. The views weren't the best (we were drinking on the sidewalk and there's a parklet too.) The 5 wines for $29 was not bad, but the size of the pours was lacking. The first pour was the smallest and then slowly they seemed to give us more (maybe they heard me!) Honestly, the pricier wines tasted better.
