By appointment only winery! A recently opening to the public by appointment only, Theorem Vineyards is such a charming spot, from design to decor, from the estate vineyard to the gorgeous Mountain View, every little detail has been meticulously built for with love. It's a bit of drive to the farthest part of Calistoga. It's 1- 1.5 hours from downtown Napa to get here. So if you were planning a day trip coming from Silicon Valley or SF, I suggest to hit Theorem Vineyards first, and other wineries along the way back down to Napa! Give yourself 1-1.5 hrs of visit, take your time and enjoy this gorgeous place. Since it by appointment only, it's never be crowded and you feel very special here. They only produce 2 wines and a few vintages back. They were fantastic wines, Estate Vineyard only, and if you a Cab lover, this hits the spot for you! They currently offer 2015, 2016 and a few magnum for older vintages back to 2012! The Hawk's Prey was great and you can enjoy it now or for later. Voir Dire is the flagship wine of Theorem Vineyards. Produced from the oldest vines on their Diamond Mountain estate, this is also 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and it is a complex, captivating and timeless wine. I would like this to lay down for a few more year so I can truly enjoy it! Under the leadership of consulting winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, think of Schrader Cellars, Maybach, Round Pond, Double Diamond, Heston, Outpost (former), Tamber Bey, Turley (former), Kinsella, Revana, Aston Estate, just to make a few! We were greeted by the handsome and charming James. He was kind, enthusiastic and genuinely love what he does, and it's shown! We learn about the estate, the history, and the amazing fruits producing from this estate! We can't wait to come and also bring our friends/families! They produce such a small production so their wines are sourced after via their wine club members, and a few restaurants locally! Contact the estate to get your hands on these wines before it gets big and we won't be able to afford it!

Beautiful grounds and delightful staff! Enjoyed a lovely And delicious afternoon tasting a few weeks ago! Look forward to another visit next time I'm in the area!

You always read about 'hidden gems', but Theorum Vineyards is just that! Not on a lot of folks' radars, but it should be! To be honest I was drawn to request an appointment simply when our daughter, an attorney, came across their label, Voir Dire, and asked me to look into it. Didn't take me long to realize this was a winery I needed to visit and learn more about. This was especially true when I noted their sixty acres of vineyards are located in the Diamond Mountain AVA, one of our very favorite locations for exceptional fruit making awesome wines! The first thing you notice, after a beautiful drive to the winery, is the old schoolhouse, which still stands. Very cool to see have kept this on site and even built the present winery to coexist so well with it! The vineyards surround the winery and looking one direction you can see progress in action as newly cleared land was ready for the planting of more vines! The winery is beautiful and modern as is their tasting room. The chandelier is an incredible thing of beauty! Speaking of beauty, the wines of Theorem (Voir Dire and Hawk's Prey at this time) are absolutely fabulous wines and the Voir Dire really hit my palate as a new favorite for sure! We came away with both the '14 and '15 vintages for our cellar. When you are putting together your itinerary for a Napa Valley visit, be sure to do yourself a favor and call for an appointment at Theorem! You will not be disappointed!

Breathtaking first impression in the tasting room!

This tour took you into the bowels of the castle where you got to see where they stored the wine and places where the wine was made. Believe it or not this is an unusual experience and I would say worth every minute of the tour. Having said that this is a castle that was brought over from Italy brick by brick. So the dungeon isn't a real dungeon and the tunnels aren't exactly tunnels from the 1600s but still you get the feeling of how the Winery operates. It's truly an experience that you won't have anywhere else in Napa. They also have a mini animal farm on the property that you see once you exit the facility. This is a nice little experience for the children who go on the tour. The gift shop is actually an excellent one with unusual items not normally found in the local gift shops. I purchased several of their aiders as gifts and everyone loves them. If you can order them online, I would do so they're very unusual and a great gift for wine lovers.

The wine was really good and the family tours make it even more fun because you're not just there looking at a bunch of walls . You actually get to learn some of the history behind the castle and how everything came together. And when I say this place has rooms on rooms on rooms... they were not playing! There's so much to see throughout the castle, from the different rooms and hallways to all the little details that make you feel like you stepped into another time period. The higher you get, the better the views too. Being up top and looking out over the Napa Valley was definitely one of my favorite parts. You can really sit back and take in the scenery and understand why people come out here to visit. The family tour was fun, the wine was good, the atmosphere was great, and there's plenty to look at. Definitely worth stopping by if you're doing a Napa trip and want something a little different than just winery hopping. 4 -- Fun experience, good wine, beautiful views, and a LOT of history packed into one castle! .

Romeo holds a special place in our hearts because we visited them a little over seven years ago. During that experience (which you can read about in my previous review - if interested), my wife and I had a grand experience with former Business Manager Emma, who administered the delicious tastings. Fast forward to the present, we looked forward to enjoying a glass of their finest red before finding lunch. Upon entering the walkway, we were enthusiastically greeted by an employee named John who quickly ushered us to a vacant table for two. My wife had a slight reaction to the beautiful flowers that were in full bloom. Out of the kindness of his heart, John provided my wife with a bottle of Pure Leaf tea that calmed her allergies. We told John that we were interested in enjoying a glass of red, in which he quickly ran off and returned with a bottle of 2009 Eugenia Cabernet Sauvignon. Upon doing the swirl and sniff test (sounds dirty doesn't it?), I knew that we were in for a treat. Since we were both in dire need of a meal, we sadly could not continue the party. However, we will make a return visit in the near future to enjoy a full tasting experience!

They were already closed for the day, but Jarred was kind enough to let us have a seat in the patio and a few sips. It's got a very homey and intimate vibe, which I have to say I sometimes prefer to the large mansion/castle wineries. I definitely would love to return for the full tasting, although the detour was enough for me to purchase a bottle of their Rosé, and my friend was very close to buying the Muscat, both of which I recommend.

Even my boyfriend, who is not a wine drinker and was dreading the tasting, said he enjoyed 5/6 of the wines we tried (big win!) It was around 5pm on a Thursday and we were the only ones around. The tasting cost $40 for 6 pours, starting with a rose and ending with a Cabernet Sauvignon. I was talking to the owner and he mentioned that he prefers to be out making wine instead of pouring and I can see that. Also, the pours were very tiny. There was not much information shared about the wine etc, he left the bottle with the information side turned towards you to read up on your own. The place itself is beautiful and it used to be a hardware store. It's right next to the city hall and across the street from the police station.
