Off the beaten path but worth the journey. Cabs and Syrahs are delish and the price point for most of the library is between $50-$75 per bottle. The wine drinks like a more expensive wine and would stand up against most wines in the $100+ range. Tasting room is small so manage expectations but the wine will impress. Long overdue review! Visited here in mid August 2024 and by far BL was our favorite winery. Travis was really tentative, friendly and engaging in conservations. Originally we were a party of 2, last minute we had 2 additional friends join us, and Travis was able to accommodate them. Outside is absolutely gorgeous. Upon arrival there are rows labeled vines, a fountain and additional covered seating area. Inside is cozy and the bathrooms are well decorated. The back patio area was absolutely stunning! As far as the wines, we did not have a single bad tasting wine here. If you're a red wine lover you must visit! We ended up ordering 3 bottles of different years of their Cabernet Sauvignon that are pending delivery (due to Florida weather). They offer other unique experiences and I would have loved to have done including "making your own blend" wine. Let me tell you the property is absolutely stunning. You enter the property driving through the now bare vineyards as we're still in February. Can't wait to see the difference in spring when vines are in full bloom. I was greeted by their amazing team, both Travis & John, as I entered the tasting room. The space is warm and welcoming. They can accommodate solo tastings, small groups and even larger bridal parties. The property has ample parking for small vehicles, suvs and even the occasional party bus. They offer indoor seating, but the patio looking into the vineyards was totally my vibe! Now let's talk wine! Small winery that's incredibly cozy. We came in the winter, but I'll definitely have to come in the summer to enjoy the outdoor seating. Ezra was wonderful! Create your own unique blend of wine! We participated in a private, wine-blending experience plus cellar tour and had a fantastic time! Not only did we enjoy sampling a number of estate wines, we also had the privilege of concocting our own! After a walking tour of the cellar and grounds, we approached our "workstation," which was outfitted with the winery-equivalent of a high school chemistry lab! We set to our industrious task of measuring various blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot, sampling generously and pairing with various nibbles from the accompanied charcuterie board. At the end of our lesson, we both selected our favorite combinations and bottled our own preferred blends! Would definitely recommend if you are seeking something 'different' to do in wine country. They are dog friendly and have an amazing outdoor seating area which is magical to enjoy wines seated by the vineyards. Their staff especially Ezra, is exceptional. I have been a member for a few years and staff like Ezra remember little things about you and your party which makes the visit so personal and truly feel like a wine family. My family has a home in Calistoga nearby so I have been to Bennett Lane at least 4 times over the years. In the past, it has been a lovely place to taste wine with family and friends; the courtyard is lovely and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Because of this, I recommended Bennett Lane for my friend's bachelorette party. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our experience -- while our sommelier was great, our tasting was in a cold, windowless indoor portion of the winery. It was 76 degrees outside and we were promised a courtyard tasting on our reservation, so this was quite a letdown for our group. Also, while other wineries did something special for the bachelorette such as offering an extra sample of wine, Bennett Lane was quite stingy. This is not to say that I won't be back -- I will probably just stick to Bennett Lane for small groups and not larger parties in the future. read more

As you drive through the Napa Valley there's good reason to keep heading north. That reason is Bennett Lane Winery which sits several miles past Calistoga's main street. After you've passed every winery that you thought comprised the Napa Valley keep going. Bennett Lane might just be Napa Valley's northernmost winery and the rewards for journeying this far are many. There's the wines, yes, but this place seems to be even more about the feeling it'll instill in you. If your experience is anything like mine, it'll inspire a day-long state of bliss. It's a beautiful, low-key winery with a charming outdoor area featuring stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The Napa Valley Passport provided all the excuse I needed to visit Bennett Lane Winery, where the Signature Tasting of 4 wines normally runs $20 per person and reservations are required. I liked everything about the place, but especially its quiet loveliness. Somehow, despite having hosted a marriage proposal earlier that day and actively hosting a wine club event, the place was totally mellow. It felt like a winery that is very comfortable and confident with who it is and that feeling translated to my comfort and enjoyment in being there. Current releases here run $48-$65 per bottle and the tasting fee is waived only for purchases of 3 bottles (all the more reason to use the Napa Valley Passport and/or join the wine club). Bennett Lane Winery is a great place to kick off a day of wine tasting but I'll go as far as saying I think it's a good idea for a day when you plan to visit only one winery. It'll kick off your day on a high note and leave you far, far up the valley, ready for any adventure that might ensue. The absolute best experience, and great wines! Bill helped me navigate their selection, and he was so incredibly helpful not just in their portfolio of wines, but also went above and beyond and helped me map out other local wineries and restaurants to try in Napa, Mendocino coast, etc. He is so knowledgable and helped me pick the wines that fit within my preferences. This winery is one of the furthest north, so it is so relaxed and you can bring a picnic; it feels like a friend's vineyard estate vs. how so many tasting rooms have a revolving door of tourists and the staff is trying to get you in and out quickly. They are also super dog friendly, and brought my dog treats in a wine glass! That same day, there was a whole proposal planned out, which is a great tip that not many people know about. They will host a wine tasting, coordinate with the groom, and have a photographer waiting to capture the whole day. So this is our favorite winery up in Napa. More laid back and very comfortable and scenic outdoor tasting experience. They were very flexible with their tasting pours and offered go backs in the quest to sell some wines. They succeeded. We bought 8 bottles which got two tasting fees waived. The servers were super and very relaxed. Not as pretentious as many others up in Napa. Bought Chardonnay, Rose and a Cab. All good stuff. Smaller boutique winery which we prefer. read more

Spent a few hours at this winery and glad we did! We enjoyed the wines very much, the setting was comfortable and laid back, and our pourer Dominico was knowledgeable, friendly, and had us tasting some fantastic wines. We ended up as club members and took 3 bottles home with us as well! I did notice when I got home that I ended up with a Chardonnay rather than the Rose that I asked for, but that was most likely due to not being heard through my mask. We've visited Bennett Lane on a few occasions over the last several years but we recently rediscovered them and had an exceptional experience. Both Jose and Scotty are incredibly knowledgable and fun. We actually were wrapping up a day of tasting and called to see if there was time to squeeze us in at the end of the day and they invited us in for 'just a splash' and they were so incredibly accommodating and friendly we scheduled a full tasting a few weeks later.
